Squid Game renewed for season 2 at Netflix

Netflix has released a 10-second teaser for the sophomore season of its hit drama series “Squid Game,” along with a message from creator, writer, director and executive producer Hwang Dong-Hyuk breaking down what to expect on which characters are returning for the second installment.

“Red light… GREENLIGHT!” reads the message alongside the teaser, which features a brief animation of the gigantic animatronic doll that features heavily in the “Squid Game” pilot.

“It took 12 years to bring the first season of ‘Squid Game’ to life last year. But it took 12 days for ‘Squid Game’ to become the most popular Netflix series ever,” reads the statement from director Hwang. “As the writer, director and producer of ‘Squid Game,’ a huge shout out to fans around the world. Thank you for watching and loving our show.”

The note also states “the man in the suit with ddakji might be back,” and that we’ll also get introduced to Cheol-su, Young-hee’s boyfriend.

The Korean series became Netflix’s biggest series ever and still streaming on the platform. It’s unclear when exactly season two will make its debut but one thing for sure that it’s going to be another hit.
