The Philippine version of the critically acclaimed Korean drama It’s Okay to Not Be Okay is set to premiere on Netflix on July 18, 2025. It will be a new take on a story that looks at mental health, family, and the power of love to change lives.

Mae Cruz-Alviar, a well-known director, is in charge of this series, which was made by Star Creatives in partnership with Netflix. The show promises to connect with viewers on a deep emotional and cultural level. The adaptation stars Anne Curtis, Joshua Garcia, and Carlo Aquino and gives the beloved K-drama a new twist with a Filipino point of view.

The series is about Emilia “Mia” Hernandez (Anne Curtis), a successful but reclusive children’s book author who has a lot of antisocial behaviors and a cold exterior that hides deep emotional wounds from her troubled past. When she meets Patrick “Patpat” Gonzales (Joshua Garcia), a caring psychiatric ward worker who has spent his whole life taking care of his older brother Matthew “Matmat” Gonzales (Carlo Aquino), who is an adult on the autism spectrum with high-functioning autism, her life changes in a big way. Mia, Patrick, and Matmat’s lives become intertwined as they deal with their own traumas and go on a moving journey of healing, self-acceptance, and love. The story is based on Filipino values and experiences and combines themes of mental health, emotional vulnerability, and the strength that comes from connecting with other people.

The series brings a talented ensemble, including Enchong Dee, Xyriel Manabat, Kaori Oinuma, Rio Locsin, Agot Isidro, Bobot Mortiz, Maricel Laxa, Ana Abad Santos, Michael De Mesa, Francis Magundayao, and more, adding depth to the narrative’s exploration of family and community.
