Arthur Nery, Kiyo unveils “Di Nakakasawa” Music Video starring Nadine Lustre
Arthur Nery, the current No. 1 OPM male artist in the Philippines, has dropped the official music video for his collaboration with Filipino hip-hop artist Kiyo called “Di Nakakasawa,” starring the highly acclaimed film and television actor Nadine Lustre.
Originally released in September last year, the song is part of Nery’s sophomore album called II: The Second. Now with over 23.9 million streams, “Di Nakakasawa” has spent 9 weeks on Spotify’s Weekly Top Songs chart as of writing.
Digging into the concept of the music video, the first frame features a neurologist and neuroscientist named Dr. Joel Barish, which seems to reference a popular fictional character from the classic film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, where the plot revolves around couples who undergo a medical experiment to erase their memories after a breakup.
Set in contrast to the mentioned film, and across different timelines of the pairing portrayed by Arthur Nery and Nadine Lustre, the visual storytelling unofficially suggests that the male lead is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Instead of erasing memories, he attempts to go through a procedure to “relive your happiest memories,” showing moments from the first time they met at their high school batch reunion and again at their senior citizens reunion.
Kiyo also makes a special appearance in the music video. In the following scenes, the characters are seen running away from him, implying that he is part of the conflict the protagonists are facing. In the final clips, the medical treatment appears to be successful when the male character remembers his beloved partner.
