Sandwich extends its contract with PolyEast Records with the release of the new single “Nyare?”

This 2023, Filipino rock band Sandwich is celebrating a huge milestone — its 25th anniversary. In February 2023, the band had already kickstarted the celebration by returning to its roots and gathering fans and friends on a trip down memory lane as they performed their 1999 debut album “Grip Stand Throw” in its entirety. With hopes of continuing its legacy in OPM, Sandwich has also renewed its contract with PolyEast Records, its home recording label since 2005.

Accompanied by the band’s manager Darwin Hernandez, Sandwich members Raymund Marasigan, Mong Alcaraz, Diego Castillo, Myrene Academia, and Mike Dizon recently met with the general manager of PolyEast Records, Jesmon Chua, to renew their recording contract. 25-year-old band Sandwich renews recording contract with PolyEast Records. This is the first of four new planned singles, with the next one coming out on July 25– all leading up to the release of the anniversary EP slated for October 2023. Written by the band, “Nyare?” showcases their trademark knack for making catchy and fuzz-driven rock. Again, it was recorded and engineered by longtime collaborator Shinji Tanaka at Kodama Studios.

In the new single’s lyrics, Sandwich expresses how they– just like the rest of us– still have to navigate the uncertainty our new normal brings. They sing, “‘Di ka na naman mapakali. Ano bang nangyari kagabi?” No matter how long around the block they’ve been, they’re still trying to make sense of it all. In the process, this pondering prompts more questions than answers.

In 2022, the group released “No Goodbyes,” an EP containing five songs. They even released an official music video for the track “Negatives,” a small addition to their lengthy discography with nine full-length albums, but it helped the band get back on track after the pandemic lull. Moreover, they are itching to release more new songs this year and of course, the signature live shows that only Sandwich can deliver.

“Nyare?” is just the first of many fresh tracks scheduled throughout the year. The band remains as excited as they were when they jammed for the first time that afternoon in a garage in BF Homes in Parañaque.

“Nyare?” by Sandwich is available on all digital and streaming platforms. You can also watch the official lyric video of the single on PolyEast Records’ YouTube channel.
