(G)I-DLE: From monster rookies to Queens
Dubbed as monster rookies, (G)I-DLE made an astounding entrance to the K-Pop industry with their debut extended play I Am led by the single “Latata” in 2018. This year, he returned with his second extended play, B, led by “Slow Mo“. He also came out with the digital single “Wheels Up”.

After releasing their first full-length, all-original album during the first quarter of 2022, The Juans are now set to hold their first major concert.
And The Juans are doing it at the storied Araneta Coliseum on October 23, 2022.
The band, Carl Guevarra on vocals and keys, Japs Mendoza on vocals and guitar, RJ Cruz on acoustic rhythm guitar and Chael Adriano on bass, are all in and excited for “The Juans Live in Araneta.”
“This is a culmination of all our hard work for the past few years,” said singer-songwriter Carl Guevarra. “We’ve been at this for several years now as The Juans and we feel that we’ve been working all this time to get to this point,” he added.
Songwriter and singer Japs Mendoza concurs saying, “we’re so excited to do this. Every band has a dream venue to play and the Araneta Coliseum is one of those. It is for us as well.”
RJ Cruz and Chael Adriano, added that this concert is for their very supportive fandom, The Juanistas.
“They’ve been with us since the start, some of them have been there kahit nung wala pa kami,” RJ Cruz said. “This will be a celebration of the music with our dear Juanistas,” chimed in Chael Adriano.
Cruz and Adriano are late additions to The Juans, joining the group when Guevarra and Mendoza revamped the original lineup.
“We almost gave up a few years ago,” said Carl. “But it’s a good thing we didn’t. We told ourselves we should go the extra mile for the band and our fans, and we should keep writing songs and I guess it paid off. We’re now actually going to have a concert at the Araneta Coliseum.”
Fans and Pinoy music fans can expect The Juans to play their hits “Hindi Tayo Pwede,” “Lumalapit” “Atin Ang Mundo,” “Hatid” and new fan-fave songs “Anghel,” “Dulo” and even their cover of “Balisong.”

BOYS LIKE GIRLS LIVE IN CEBU has been given a new date given the current global health situation and is on October 12, 2022, at the Sky Hall Seaside Cebu.
It will be a show that’s sure to trigger nostalgia with Martin Johnson (vocals/guitar), Paul DiGiovanni (guitar), John Keefe (drums), and Morgan Dorr (bass) playing their iconic debut album front to back. Released back in 2006, the self-titled Boys Like Girls carried songs that served as the soundtrack to the coming of age of a distinct generation of pop-punk/pop rock fans. It was an album that allowed the band to break through the music scene, with hits like “Hero/Heroine,” “The Great Escape,” and “Thunder” spending weeks on Billboard charts.
As iconic as the band was at the time just for this album alone, this debut release was soon followed in 2009 by Love Drunk, with more anthems for fans to sing along to like the title track “Love Drunk,” “She’s Got A Boyfriend Now,” “Heart Heart Heartbreak,” and “Two Is Better Than One” featuring Taylor Swift.
It comes as no surprise that, in the latter part of 2019 following years of inactivity, fans were ecstatic upon hearing the news that Boys Like Girls would be hitting the road on their first headlining tour in ten years, officially announcing five dates in Australia slated for April 2020. This exciting news followed years of inactivity, with the band’s third and most recent album Crazy World (“Be Your Everything,” Life of the Party,” “The First Time”) coming out way back in 2012.
Boys Like Girls had a short tour in 2016 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their debut album and are now looking to make an extension of that celebration by setting their sights outside of the US, in other corners of the world that they missed to include. As a culmination of ENHYPEN’s reflections on their identity, MANIFESTO : DAY 1 is an album that portrays the story of seven boys paving their own path and taking the first step forward for their generation to follow in their footsteps. The previous ‘BORDER’ and ‘DIMENSION’ series told the story of young boys connecting to a new world for the very first time. They realized their new world past the border of the debut was even more complex and multidimensional than envisioned, and fell into a dilemma as they saw their desires collide.
Doubting the conventional standard of success stipulated by grown ups, the septet take their first leap forward to think for themselves and independently find the correct answers. As they begin their journey as authors and “protagonists” of their own narrative, the seven boys hold up their mics and declare to their peers—“We’ll take the lead forward. Come along with us.” They pass their mics, almost like a torch, to their fellow generation to set fire to a new beginning.
Through the teaser contents, the versatile visual talents reflect a sense of solid determination and compelling energy incomparable to their previous albums. The three different concept photos ‘D’, ‘J’ and ‘M’ each portray an individual story that is designed to piece together as one.
The septet’s newest album includes six tracks covering various genres: “WALK THE LINE”, “Future Perfect (Pass the MIC)”, “ParadoXXX Invasion”, “TFW (That Feeling When)”, “SHOUT OUT” and “Foreshadow.” The lead single “Future Perfect (Pass the MIC)” features ENHYPEN’s rapping, the first since their debut, and member JAKE participated in the writing of the lyrics for B-side track “SHOUT OUT”—a reflection of the band’s artistic and musical growth over the years.

The album’s lead single “Future Perfect (Pass the MIC)” reflects ENHYPEN’s refusal to be hindered by the chaos of the world and unapologetically pave their own path that will eventually connect themselves with their generation in the future. Revealed through the lyrics, “I wanna stand on my own feet. Anything else is meaningless. Bring out my real voice. And draw our future,” this song is an ambitious declaration to begin living life on one’s own terms.
The performance for the track also focuses on expressing the course of finding one’s true self in a lively and free-spirited manner. While constantly shifting formations as the track progresses, the septet dominate the stage with a raw and powerful, yet perfectly synchronized performance. Key details in the choreography, such as the “mic check” and “mic pass” dance, cleverly highlight the “mic”, which pulls together ENHYPEN’s unequaled performance.

“WALK THE LINE” is a Hip-Hop track that opens the album with its 808 bass and powerful guitar distortion sounds. It encompasses a dual meaning of “walking along the line” and “staying in line/not crossing the line.” Applying a strikethrough across “Intro : Walk the Line”, the opening track of ENHYPEN’s debut album BORDER : DAY ONE of the same title, expresses refusal of existing rules and determination to cross over to a world of one’s own. While “Intro : Walk the Line” sang of the joy standing at the border of one’s dream world, “WALK THE LINE” illustrates the boys’ determination to connect to those around them within the newly drawn lines of this world. The members’ narration spoken in three different languages leaves a lasting impression and raises anticipation for the remainder of the album.
Future Perfect (Pass the MIC)
“Future Perfect (Pass the MIC)” is a Chicago Drill Hip-Hop track which is a relatively unfamiliar genre within the K-pop scene. The seven boys, who now realize their role and calling, declare to their peers “We’ll take the lead forward. Come along with us.” The boys deliver a powerfully resonant message—“Instead of using our abilities for our own good, we will use it to lift the voices of those around us.”—to reflect their unyielding resolution. ENHYPEN take on the challenge of rapping for the first time since their debut which maximizes the intensity of the track.
ParadoXXX Invasion
“ParadoXXX Invasion” is characterized by an old school Hip-Hop sound that was popular in the early 2000s. The lyrics declaring “This world filled with contradiction, [we] crash into it again and again. We are free, [the] illogic is logic” act as a bold statement aimed at the grown ups who underestimate them as mere childish teens. A catchy melody accompanied by the groovy vocals of the members is sure to be an earworm.
TFW (That Feeling When)
“TFW (That Feeling When)” is a continuation of ENHYPEN’s signature Soft Pop Rock sound following “Polaroid Love” and “Not For Sale.” ‘TFW’ is an acronym commonly used on social media to provide context or commentary for images with an emotional attachment, such as adorable pets, beautiful ocean views, etc. This song reflects ‘that feeling when’ you’re reminded of a loved one while looking at a photo that puts a smile on your face. The delicate nature of the lyrics enhances the romantic mood of the track that is perfect to listen to on a cool summer night.
SHOUT OUT
With the combination of electric guitar distortion and bass sounds, “SHOUT OUT” is an Alternative Rock track that is sure to get hearts pumping and become THE song fans jam along to at an ENHYPEN concert. Member JAKE participated in the writing of the lyrics which illustrate the excitement and thrill of shouting out for the very first time that “I” am the subject of this world. This track acts as a ‘shout out’ to their peers who have helped them gain the confidence to “shake up this world, louder and louder.”
Foreshadow
“Foreshadow” is an Electropop track characterized by its psychedelic sidechaining technique fuzed with a unique groove. The overall mood of the track is dark, but it is juxtaposed by the melody and lyrics which reflect the boys’ hopeful future as they move forward to the next chapter. The narration, spoken by all seven members in three different languages, is the key point to pay attention to.
GRAMMY-award winning band, Maroon 5, is coming back to Manila on December 8 at SM Mall of Asia Arena. Lead by Adam Levine, has performed in the country sixth times since their first performance at the Araneta Coliseum in 2008. To mark the return of Stranger Things season 4, Netflix Philippines created an immersive show using light, sound, and projection at the Glorietta 4 Activity Center. It was also part of Netflix’s campaign before the much-awaited release of Volume 2 on July 1.
The projection started with the creepy sound of the grandfather clock countdown, followed by tons of spiders coming out from the clock. The whole area glowed red just like the opening credit of the series. Scenes from the Vol. 2 came next before the portal slowly opened between our world and the Upside Down. The projection ended with Vecna’s return to the Upside Down and ready to look for his next victim.
Cosplayers of Vecna and Max recreated the famous scene of the series which can be found in season 4 episode 4.

The entire activity center was set up for photo opportunities as you enter Vecna’s Mind Lair with life-sized props and some elements of the show. The event provides a one-of-a-kind visual experience for fans and viewers and a genuine advertising initiative, which is uncommon today. Filipino ELFs, get ready to reunite with Super Junior in Super Show 9 in Manila!
South Korean boy group Super Junior is coming back to the Philippines to bring SUPER SHOW 9: ROAD to their Filipino fans. Presented by PULP Live World, SUPER SHOW 9 in Manila is happening at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on August 6.
The upcoming concert will mark the legendary boy group’s sixth solo concert in the country following the successes of Super Show 2 in 2010, Super Show 3 in 2011, Super Show 5 in 2013, Super Show 7 in 2018, and Super Show 8 in 2019.

Today, multi-Platinum and chart-topping singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Lauv releases his new single and video “Kids Are Born Stars”, available everywhere now via Virgin Music Label and Artist Services. “Kids Are Born Stars” serves as the third single off of Lauv’s highly anticipated second full-length album, All 4 Nothing, set to be released on August 5th. The new music video made its broadcast premiere on MTV Live, MTVU as well as the Paramount Times Square billboards, and Lauv is also featured on today’s New Music Daily playlist with Zane Lowe on Apple Music. “Kids Are Born Stars” follows previous song releases “26” and the stunning title track “All 4 Nothing (I’m So In Love)”, which is currently #22 at Top 40 Radio and climbing.
Directed by Hannah Lux Davis (Ariana Grande, Doja Cat), Lauv meets and connects with his younger self in the new video. On the inspiration behind the release, he shares, “When I started making this album, I was doing a lot of inner child meditation work and this song was me getting back in touch with my 8th grade self and giving him a little dose of confidence because Lord knows he would’ve needed it back then. As an adult I had lost touch with my sense of confidence too and making this song and the whole album helped me get back in touch with the person I really am.”
On his upcoming album, All 4 Nothing, Lauv expands his signature sound like never before. June 26 became extra special for fans of South Korean singer-actor Ro Woon with Globe’s RO WOON LIVE IN MANILA: A Kmmunity Exclusive Fan Meet at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. It was a beautiful gathering filled with unforgettable memories that will make every day k-ganda from now on.
Fans of the SF9 member flocked to the SM Mall of Asia Arena and brought their excited spirits even hours before the official start of the event, enjoying the booths set up inside the venue and a mini meet-and-greet with Little Happee.
The exclusive fan meet marked Ro Woon’s first solo event in the Philippines and his third visit to the country. He previously performed with SF9 in 2018 for Be My Fantasy and in 2019 for Unixerse.
Three years after his last Manila show, the singer-actor returned with graciousness and vibrance thanks to the warm and love-filled welcome of thousands of his Filipino fans who filled the SM Mall of Asia Arena and screamed loud for him as he took the stage.
Ro Woon said he was surprised by the huge crowd, adding that he did not expect that a lot of fans will come to meet him. “Thank you very much,” he said. And the love was well-deserved as the singer-actor gamely took on every segment and game during the fan meeting!
He immersed himself in everything Filipino, learning Filipino sentences like “Nakakakaba naman ang chika mo, beshie.” and “Sa Globe Kmmunity, k-ganda ng araw-araw!“. He also ate Filipino snacks like turon, puto bumbong, and his favorite taho.
A definite highlight of the night: Ro Woon in barong Tagalog! The SF9 member and Tomorrow actor completed his Filipino culture immersion by donning traditional Filipino clothing. According to him, barong suits the hot weather in the Philippines because it is see-through.
Meanwhile, Filipino game sipa got his competitive spirit up that he had to do the challenge twice. The result: sipa-2, Ro Woon-0. But the effort is definitely commendable, Ro Woon!
Although sipa and Ro Woon failed to exhibit the best teamwork, the singer-actor found his best teammates to play Pinoy Henyo with — the MOA arena crowd! Thanks to his fans, he navigated the questions with breeze (while cutely pretending that no coaching was happening).
Aside from fun memories, the fan meeting attendees also took home the best life advice from their idol. The singer-actor shared his positive outlook on failures and struggles. According to him, he finds more meaning in failures than success as failures allow you to appreciate your success more.
Fans felt more of his warmth and comfort with the special gifts he prepared. Lucky fans went home with signed gifts including handkerchiefs and mask and glasses necklaces. He also personally designed a bayong on stage, tracing his hand to signify a hi-five. He hopes that it cheers the person, especially during hard times.
But fans of the SF9 member did not allow the night to pass without sending him off with the sweetest gifts and the most comforting video message and fan project for their shining star, Seokwoo — whenever, wherever, let’s be together.
Ro Woon capped off the evening with a performance of his original soundtrack for his 2021 drama The King’s Affection, “No Goodbye In Love”. Indeed, there is no goodbye in love but only see you again. “From the bottom of my heart, thank you very much,” said the singer-actor in his ending message.
The RO WOON LIVE IN MANILA: A Kmmunity Exclusive Fan Meet gifted everyone at the SM Mall of Asia Arena with lasting memories to revisit and warm our days with. Ro Woon was charming, full of life, and generous, giving everyone big smiles on their faces. And the crowd reciprocated all of it with so much love and admiration for the singer-actor who deserves every bit of it. As Ro Woon wrote, “Thank you for making me all the unforgettable memories.”

Stranger Things, created by Matt and Ross Duffer, is Netflix’s most-watched English language series as of the first volume of season four. Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and the Hawkins gang have overcome unthinkable odds and come out on top,but not without casualties. Hawkins will fall, according to a sequence of warnings and concerns. Perhaps things will not go their way this time. Eleven isn’t prepared. But who is, when creatures from the Upside Down come calling?
The Duffer brothers have explicitly stated that certain fatalities will occur towards the conclusion of Season 4. A death was quite predictable, but the constant assurance that there would be more than one death is both disturbing and unexpected. Could it be main characters or latest cast additions? Stranger Things’ producers admitting several fatalities only heightens speculation about what the ultimate body count will be and who will be included in volume 2.
The last two episodes of the highly popular Netflix series this season will undoubtedly be filled with adventure, dramatic terror, and, of course, humor. Netflix stated that the two episodes will have a combined length of over four hours.
