  • From hashtag to poetry: Gloc-9’s Makata Sa Pinas

From hashtag to poetry: Gloc-9’s Makata Sa Pinas

Rap icon Gloc-9 is re-introducing himself as Aristotle Pollisco, poet.

On March 12, 2026, at the Philippine Book Festival in SM Megamall, Gloc-9, going by his real name Aristotle Pollisco, will be launching seven poetry chapbooks under the omnibus title Makata Sa Pinas — a hashtag he has been using the past decade.

While Gloc-9 previously released the poetry book Akin Lang Naman in 2017 with ABS-CBN Publishing, this new project offers a different approach to presenting his work as poetry. This time, Gloc-9 envisioned a series of slimmer volumes—a concept that became the starting point of the project.

In collaboration with the small press Everything’s Fine, the idea grew into a deeper reexamination of his entire discography. By revisiting the recurring themes and subject matter that consistently surface throughout his music, seven chapbooks were developed, each shaped around these enduring ideas and reflections.

The first three chapbooks are personal. “Pagkatao” tracks his development as a poet, talking about his roots in Binangonan, Rizal, and how this formed him into the rapper that we now know as Gloc-9. “Pangarap” includes all the poems about his dreams of becoming a songwriter and a rapper, reaching those aspirations, and reassessing what that means to him. “Pursigi” talks about the kind of hard work and persistence that reaching one’s ambitions demands, the clarity of one’s goals, and the importance of holding on to one’s values.

From the personal, the next two chapbooks slowly shift to Gloc-9’s storytelling through poetry. “Pagibig” speaks of love — from the familial to the romantic, and to the ones that unravel and end painfully. “Komunidad” tells the stories of the people that exist in our local neighborhoods — the people we talk to, the ones we care for, the ones we rarely see.

The final two chapbooks turn to the more political dimensions of Gloc-9’s poetry. “Lipunan” reflects on the kind of society we have collectively—and often unconsciously—built, shaped by who we have become as people and by the hate and compassion we choose to nurture within it. “Bayan” is composed of the stories of our nation that few popular songwriters speak of, from the perspective of the struggling majority who suffer in the hands of the wealthy and powerful few.

In totality, the seven chapbooks of Makata Sa Pinas capture the 28 years of Aristotle Pollisco as the poet of the nation. It also reminds us of how much more he can continue to do, given where he comes from, who he has become, and the legacy he has continued to build.

Gloc-9 will be at the Makata Sa Pinas book launch on March 12, 2026, 5PM to 7PM, at the Philippine Book Festival 2026, Megatrade Hall, 5th Level, SM Megamall. Admission is free.

    About the books

Makata Sa Pinas: Mga Tula ni Aristotle Pollisco is a collection of seven poetry chapbooks by Gloc-9, whose real name is Aristotle Pollisco. The works draw inspiration from the themes and stories found throughout his 28-year discography as one of the Philippines’ most influential rapper-songwriters.

The seven chapbooks present Pollisco’s poetry as an evolving journey—beginning with reflections on the personal self, expanding into the life of the community, and ultimately engaging with the broader socio-political realities of the nation.

Each chapbook stands on its own through its distinct themes and subject matter. Taken together, however, they invite readers to reflect more deeply on their identity, their place within their communities, the roles they play in society, and the importance of remaining aware of and engaged with issues that shape the nation.

  • Sponge Cola and Gigi De Lana Join Forces for First-Ever Collaboration, “Naghihilom,” Out this March 6!

Sponge Cola and Gigi De Lana Join Forces for First-Ever Collaboration, “Naghihilom,” Out this March 6!

Sponge Cola and Gigi De Lana are set to release their first collaborative single, “Naghihilom,” on March 6 across major streaming platforms, with an official music video premiering the same day.

The release marks a milestone moment for both acts, uniting two distinct forces in OPM for the very first time.

“Naghihilom,” which translates to “healing,” delves into the quiet, complicated aftermath of heartbreak. It reflects on the process of sitting with pain long enough to understand it and, eventually, letting it soften.

The track is anchored by Sponge Cola’s signature alternative rock sensibility, unfolding through textured instrumentation and a slow-burning arrangement. Within that space, Gigi De Lana delivers a restrained yet deeply felt vocal performance that broadens the song’s emotional range while preserving its vulnerability.

For De Lana, the connection to the song was immediate, even if its full meaning revealed itself gradually.

“When I first heard it, I immediately felt the depth. It was heavy,” she shares. “To be honest, the first time I listened to it, I didn’t fully understand the gravity of it. But when I replayed it a few more times, it slowly revealed itself to me.”

The collaboration also looks promising as Gigi shares her excitement for the team-up. She adds, “From the first meeting pa lang for the song, I felt safe. I felt welcomed. Walang pressure, just pure collaboration and good energy. Sponge Cola is so easy to work with. The environment was light, creative, and inspiring. The whole experience felt amazing. Honestly, ayoko nga umalis agad kapag kasama ko sila.”

Sponge Cola frontman Yael Yuzon hopes listeners will find their own stories reflected in the track.

“I want people to feel what they need to feel, to remember or forget, and hopefully sing with us,” he says. “And working with Gigi, andali.”

An accompanying music video was filmed during the song’s first-ever live performance at a major music festival last January, giving fans present an exclusive first glimpse of the track.

The collaboration bridges two generations of OPM listeners: Sponge Cola, long known for their emotive anthems and enduring presence in the local rock scene, and Gigi De Lana, whose powerful vocals and commanding live performances have cultivated a strong digital following and a new wave of fans.

  • A New Chapter for Ken San Jose in the Manila Production of A Chorus Line!

A New Chapter for Ken San Jose in the Manila Production of A Chorus Line!

Known to many as one of today’s most visible young dance artists, whether through his viral TikTok choreography or his regular appearances on ASAP, Ken San Jose is now entering a new chapter that brings him back to where it all began, the theater stage.

Ken will be stepping into the role of Mark Anthony in the Manila run of the beloved Broadway classic A Chorus Line, produced by Theatre Group Asia and directed by Emmy Award–winning choreographer Karla Puno Garcia, who earned her Emmy for her work on the 76th Tony Awards. Mark is the youngest member of the ensemble, an optimistic first-timer whose exceptional dance ability, quick wit, and unfiltered enthusiasm set him apart. Naive yet perceptive, the character brings levity and heart to the line, embodying the hope and eagerness of someone just beginning to navigate the realities of a professional dance career.

While audiences often associate Ken with contemporary dance and pop culture platforms like TikTok, few know that he actually grew up doing theater alongside his dance training. Long before the spotlight of television and social media, the stage was already his home.

That foundation began resurfacing last year when Ken appeared in Joseph the Dreamer, sharing the stage with Sam Concepcion and Gary Valenciano. The experience reignited his connection to musical theater, and when the opportunity came to audition for A Chorus Line, Ken committed fully. Understanding the demands of a true Broadway musical, he trained rigorously in jazz and ballet, sharpening both technique and stamina to meet the show’s exacting standards.

A Chorus Line is widely regarded as one of the most important musicals in theater history. First premiering on Broadway in 1975, it transformed musical storytelling by placing dancers, their insecurities, sacrifices, and personal histories, at the center of the narrative. Minimalist yet famously demanding, the show requires performers who can sing, act, and dance at the highest level while sustaining emotional honesty throughout.

The Manila production is especially significant, bringing together local and international theater talent under world-class creative leadership. Joining the cast is Filipino-American actor Conrad Ricamora, best known for his role as Oliver Hampton on How to Get Away with Murder. A Tony-nominated stage actor, Ricamora has appeared in major Broadway and Off-Broadway productions including Here Lies Love, The King and I, and Little Shop of Horrors, adding global theater pedigree to the ensemble.

For Ken, portraying Mark Anthony feels both like a breakthrough and a homecoming. The role calls for a performer who can combine technical excellence with natural charm and emotional openness, qualities that align closely with Ken’s background as a dancer and his growing maturity as an artist.

While this moment signals a possible new era, one that expands his range beyond what mainstream audiences have come to expect, his roots remain firmly grounded in dance and the community that shaped him. That connection, he shares, will always be part of who he is.

Beyond the stage, there is more to anticipate. Ken is set to release new music under Diorama, offering audiences yet another side of his artistry. With A Chorus Line, upcoming music, and continued presence across platforms, this season marks a pivotal point in his evolution as a multi-hyphenate performer.

In many ways, A Chorus Line is not just another role, it is a statement. And for Ken San Jose, stepping into Mark Anthony is both a return to his roots and a confident step forward.

A CHORUS LINE BY THEATER GROUP ASIA The show runs all Thursdays to Sundays from March 12, 2026 — March 29, 2026.

  • MULTIPLATINUM GLOBAL SUPERSTAR HILARY DUFF HIGHLY ANTICIPATED SIXTH STUDIO ALBUM ‘LUCK…OR SOMETHING’ ARRIVES TODAY!

MULTIPLATINUM GLOBAL SUPERSTAR HILARY DUFF HIGHLY ANTICIPATED SIXTH STUDIO ALBUM ‘LUCK…OR SOMETHING’ ARRIVES TODAY!

    “WEATHER FOR TENNIS” OUT NOW!

“A cohesive, no-skips record that offers an update on Duff’s life, including honest looks at motherhood, marriage, and the passing of time… a pop record that holds very little back, offering a realistic, at times unglamorous portrait that is highly relatable– ROLLING STONE

“The sense you get listening to ‘luck… or something’ is that Duff is firmly in the driver’s seat” – GLAMOUR

Multiplatinum global superstar Hilary Duff has officially released her highly anticipated sixth studio album, ‘luck… or something’, accompanied by its opening track, “Weather For Tennis”. Fans can stream the album here and watch the music video here.

Co-written by Hilary and produced by her husband, GRAMMY® Award-winning songwriter/producer Matthew Koma (Britney Spears, P!nk), and Brian Phillips (Alec Benjamin, blink-182), the 11-track collection features previously released singles, “Mature” and “Roommates”.

There’s that question of whether women can have it all, and through this process I learned I had to sacrifice some things in order to put the record first,” shares Hilary. “As hard as that is, I still believe it’s okay to choose yourself sometimes and do what scares the hell out of you. Carving out the time to make an album after all these years was incredibly powerful for me, and now I can’t wait to share it with the world“.

Hilary Duff – “Weather For Tennis” (Official Video)

Pulled between the chaos and clarity of motherhood, marriage, and finding herself in her 30s, Duff dreamed up a batch of songs that uncover the secret corners of her inner world: her hidden longings and quiet insecurities, intrusive thoughts and deepest obsessions. In a bold evolution of her artistry, she crafted every track with equal parts sensitivity, self-awareness, and wildly charming wit.

luck… or something’ was heralded by its first single, “Mature”. Hailed by VOGUE for “pushing Duff’s sound in new directions while still feeling quintessentially Hilary,” the sardonic, shimmering track – which quickly earned over 5M global streams in its first week of release – arrived as a piece of autofiction inspired by romantic misadventures in her formative years. Set against bright pop production and layered with Duff’s signature wit and vulnerability, “Mature” is accompanied by an evocative music video directed by Lauren Dunn (Olivia Rodrigo, Dove Cameron, Saweetie), which has garnered nearly 4M views via YouTube.

Currently supported by major radio stations, the album’s second single, “Roommates”, was met with high-profile praise from outlets including Billboard, V Magazine, and Rolling Stone, the latter of which declared it “10 OUT OF 10…one of her best songs”. “Roommates” is accompanied by an official music video directed by Matty Peacock (Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande) and currently boasting over 2M views on YouTube.

Duff will celebrate ‘luck… or something’ with “the lucky me tour”, her first full-scale global headline run in almost two decades. Spanning seven countries, with dates across the US, Canada, Mexico, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. For complete details and ticket information, please visit the official website here.

Hilary’s landmark 2026 kicked off last month with her “Small Rooms, Big Nerves” dates, an instantly SOLD-OUT global run of very special live shows marking her first headline concert appearances in over a decade.

I constantly get asked how I still have my head on straight after growing up in this industry,” says Hilary. “The album title is my way of answering that question, which felt right for a record that’s about where I’ve landed and all the things I’ve been through along the way”.

  • Delinquent Society’s “Certified” Is a Statement of Pride, Origins, and Success!

Delinquent Society’s “Certified” Is a Statement of Pride, Origins, and Success!

They came from the streets of Davao. They carried the weight of “8000” , their postal code, their identity, their proof of origin. And now, Delinquent Society is back to remind the world why they don’t need to ask for permission to be recognized. Introducing “Certified,” the follow-up to their chart-climbing hit “8000WABAD.”

Written in a seamless mix of Bisaya, Tagalog, and English, “Certified” doesn’t try to fit into any box. It reflects the reality of the streets, multilingual, raw, and unfiltered. This isn’t manufactured for international appeal. This is how they talk, how they feel, how they live.

“The title isn’t just a flex. It’s a declaration of credibility. If you’re really from here, you don’t need to explain yourself, you’re already certified.” That’s Delinquent Society in their own words. “8000” isn’t just a number, it’s what shaped them and it means everything. It’s not a trend tag or a marketing angle. It’s who they are. It’s where they’re from. It’s their loyalty, their identity, their proof.

Beyond their roots and upbringing, “Certified” also celebrates the group’s rising success. Their previous track “8000WABAD” garnered nearly 700,000 on Spotify alone, while their performance at Bangkok Music City in Thailand brought their music to international audiences. These achievements have propelled Delinquent Society into the spotlight both locally and abroad, and “Certified” stands as a testament to their continued ascent in the music industry.

Despite their growing fame, Delinquent Society remains grounded in their message of authenticity and representation. “Certified isn’t just about Davao,” the artist stated. “It’s for anyone who reps where they’re from with pride. Hood to hood, city to city, if your presence is real, it doesn’t need validation. You already know. And so does everyone else.”

There’s more coming up, stay tuned for the music video of “Certified.” A blend of chaos, humor, and unpredictability mirror the song’s energy, blurring the line between flex and fever dream.  It’s foreign, disorienting, and wild, but the identity stays intact. Wherever they go, they’re still certified.

Featuring lyrics and music by Emmy, GRAMMY, Oscar, and Tony winners Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, this production was reimagined by London’s Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, where it originated, and is helmed by director Timothy Sheader and choreographer Drew McOnie. Completing the creative team is design by Tom Scutt, lighting design by Lee Curran, sound design by Nick Lidster, and music supervision by Tom Deering.

A global phenomenon that has wowed audiences for decades, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is a timeless work that explores the biblical portrayal of the extraordinary events that led to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as seen through the eyes of his betrayer, Judas Iscariot. The story, told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles among Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, Jesus’ disciples, his followers, and the Roman Empire. Originally released as a concept album, the iconic 1970s rock score contains such well-known numbers as ‘Superstar’, ‘I Don’t Know How to Love Him’, and ‘Gethsemane’.

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR opened on Broadway in 1971 at the Mark Hellinger Theatre. The original London production opened at the Palace Theatre on 9 August 1972 and ran for over eight years. By the time it closed, after 3,358 performances, it had become the longest-running musical in West End history at that time. JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR has been reproduced regularly around the world in the years since its first appearance, with performances including a Broadway revival in 2012, an ITV competition TV show called Superstar that led to casting Ben Forster as Jesus in an arena tour of the show, and a production at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre celebrating 45 years since the musical’s Broadway debut. JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR will also have a limited run at the iconic London Palladium in summer 2026. This production was originally created and produced at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.

This production of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR won the 2017 Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival and the 2016 Evening Standard Award for Best Musical, selling out two consecutive engagements in 2016 and 2017. The production played a West End engagement at the Barbican in 2019 before returning to Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in concert version during the summer of 2020, followed by a universally acclaimed UK tour in 2023/24.

New and final JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR show dates have been released and are now available exclusively through TicketWorld. Don’t miss the opportunity to catch JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR at the Theatre at Solaire this coming May 2, 2026, and must close on May 31, 2026. No further extensions possible.

‘Groundbreaking’ People Power 40 Kick-Off Concert draws over 20,000 attendees

More than 20,000 people flocked to Quezon Memorial Circle on Saturday for the People Power 40 Kick-Off Concert, marking a vibrant and groundbreaking start to the commemoration of the bloodless revolution that restored democracy in the Philippines.

Based on estimates from the Quezon City government, the crowd swelled to over 20,000 during the event organized by Mayor Joy Belmonte and the Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG), and Senator Bam Aquino and Kaya Natin! Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership (KN).

Carrying the theme “Awit at Aksyon Kontra Korapsyon,” the event departed from the traditional somber tone of previous EDSA People Power I commemorations, with the crowd enjoying performances by singers, rock bands, rappers, stand-up comedians, a dance group, and drag artists, bridging generations and connecting audiences of all ages.

Acoustic icon Ice Seguerra opened the main show, moving the audience with his emotional rendition of “Bayan Ko,” which was written in 1928 during the country’s struggle against American colonization, with the Quezon Memorial Circle pylon light show serving as backdrop.

“Mag-iisang daang taon na, kinakanta pa rin natin siya. At nalulungkot po akong kinakanta pa rin natin siya. At ang hirap kasi, noong sinulat ang awit na yun, malinaw kung [sino] ang kalaban natin. Pero ngayon mas mahirap dahil, sariling lahi natin ang tumatarantado sa ating lahat,” Seguerra said.

Elmo and Arkin Magalona honored the legacy of their legendary father, Francis Magalona, with performances of some of his iconic hits that earned him the title of the country’s King of Rap, including “1-800-Ninety-Six,” “Kaleidoscope World,” and the crowd-favorite “Ito Ang Gusto Ko.”

Stand-up comedians Alex Calleja and Red Ollero elicited laughter from the crowd with their brand of comedy, touching on current controversies and the everyday challenges Filipinos face.

Ebe Dancel then serenaded the crowd with hits such as “Burnout,” “Makita Kang Muli,” and “Bawat Daan.” He was followed by Amiel Sol with “Ikaw Lang Patutunguhan,” “Nahanap Kita,” and “Sa Bawat Sandali.”

Nica Del Rosario, composer and singer of the 2022 campaign hit song “Rosas,” sang “Tala” and collaborated with rapper Pio Balbuena in the hit song “Kapangyarihan.” Balbuena continued his solo performance with “44 Bars,” “Republika ng Tambay,” and “Akinse.”

Hip-hop group Morobeats ignited the stage with their energetic and expletive-laden numbers “Di Papasakop,” “Magna,” and “Anak Ka ng Pu,” calling out corruption in government and China’s continued harassment of Filipino vessels in the West Philippine Sea and baseless claims of Philippine territory.

Femme MNL, composed of LGBTQIA+ dancers, captivated the audience with a dynamic playback Rihanna set, while rock band Chelsea Alley thrilled the crowd with their powerful hits “We Are,” “Camouflage,” and “Heneral.”

Later in the evening, OPM legend Janno Gibbs belted his hit song “Pinakamagandang Lalaki” and joined fellow hitmaker Ogie Alcasid for a duet “Handog ng Pilipino.”

Alcasid took the stage with his hits “Sige Laglagan Na” and “Nandito Ako,” followed by Over October with songs such as “Dahan,” “Bitin,” and “Ikot.” Earl Agustin serenaded the crowd with “Tibok,” “Pag Ibig ng Ikaw at Ako,” and “Dalangin,” before Rivermaya, joined by the Quezon City Symphonic Band, performed “You’ll Be Safe Here,” “Umaaraw, Umuulan,” and “Awit ng Kabataan.”

The Magalonas ended the show with “Ito Ang Gusto Ko,” followed by a 10-minute fireworks display that lit up the night sky, capping a celebration of unity, courage, and hope.

Talent manager and showbiz insider Ogie Diaz, along with Mama Loi Villarama, DJ JhaiHo, Bea Binene, and Iza Calzado, served as hosts. The pre-show featured performances by Madeline, Hey Moonshine, Stonefree, Chloe Redondo, Jkris Dantes, Crispin, Sisa and Bassilyo, TSN Drag, Mz. Chronicles, and Jasmine Dudley-Scales.

With its gritty, grounded, and innovative approach, pundits claim the concert offered a fresh way to remember and honor EDSA People Power I. By blending nostalgia with bold calls to hold corrupt officials accountable, they claimed it was undoubtedly a memorable way to kick off the 40th anniversary of EDSA 1.

Released just in time for Valentine’s Day, “Mahika” captures that soft, quiet moment when you realize you’re already in love—the calm that settles in when the right person is beside you. The song highlights BILIB’s youthful charm and sincerity, wrapped in a sound that feels intimate and heartfelt.

Co-written by the group’s rapper Zio, “Mahika” was created to showcase a more romantic side of BILIB. Together with main vocalist Rafael, the group crafted a track rooted in P-pop’s emotional and romantic style, blending gentle vocals, a smooth pop groove, and a light rap verse that feels natural rather than flashy.

“Mahika” is also BILIB’s most hands-on project to date. The members were deeply involved not only in writing the song but also in its production. Adding a personal touch to the release, the single artwork was created by JMAC, the group’s lead dancer, who is also passionate about visual art.
