Kapamilya singer-songwriter Angela Ken takes audiences on a musical journey of exploration in her first-ever solo concert, “Panahon na Natin,” happening on October 18 (Sunday) at the New Frontier Theater.
Beyond her signature sound, audiences can expect Angela to showcase a fresh and different side of her artistry in the concert.
“I am bringing the element of exploration,” she teased. “Discovering ‘Panahon’ EP, to be very honest. Doon ako bumalik. ‘Di ko naman masabi na I was lost, but maybe because I explored a lot of stuff. Because of that, ang dami ko pang gusto from my music na hindi pa nailabas from ‘Ako Naman Muna’ since it’s been six years naman na rin.”
The concert, to be directed by John Prats, will be a different kind of intimate and personal, dedicated to Angela’s followers, whom she fondly calls Angels.
“It’s a different kind of personal; it’s a different kind of intimate. I want them to feel na nagkakaabutan lang tayong lahat,” she said. “Yung difference nito is yung lalim na gusto naming mensahe sa bawat set, sa bawat performance, sa bawat guest.”
Fans can also look forward to Angela’s live performance of the tracks from her “Panahon” EP, released under Tarsier Records, which she described as showing the timelines of one’s life.
“Those six songs, it will show you the other side of your life. Like example, si ‘simula ngayon,’ it talks about kung ano ka na ngayon, yung parang pinagtibay ka na ng panahon. ‘kahapon’ talks about the reality na minsan talaga wala kang magagawa pag gusto mo ang isang tao. ‘Pwede Bang Mamaya?’ talks about how we can prolong something with this person, with this person kasi sobrang saya. ‘baka bukas’ is a song full of hope na lahat tayo meron at meron na baka bukas sa buhay.” explained the ABS-CBN Music artist.
Angela is likewise set to perform her upcoming single, “tayo lang,” at the concert. The first song she ever wrote back in 2018 is finally dropping on music streaming platforms on September 25 (Friday).
“Ngayon ko pa lang siya ilalabas nang kumpleto. There are changes sa lyrics niya, there are tweaks. Pinagtibay rin siya ng panahon,” she said.
Bagets The Musical, the stage adaptation of the iconic 1984 Filipino coming-of-age film, received six citations in the first round of the 17th Gawad Buhay Awards, recognizing members of the cast for their performances in the musical.

The Gawad Buhay Awards citations determine which productions, performers, and production elements are eligible for consideration in the final nominations for the 2027 ceremonies. The citations were deliberated upon by an independent jury composed of theater practitioners, journalists, reviewers, and academics.

Sa gitna ng mga pagbaha na naglubog sa ilang bahagi ng National Capital Region at Luzon, ilang rapper ang gumamit ng mikropono upang ipahayag ang kanilang pagkadismaya at mga pangamba, na sumasalamin sa sentimyento ng maraming Pilipino hinggil sa talamak na katiwalian sa pamahalaan at pangangailangan para sa reporma.
Sinimulan ni KASSA ang “Baha Rap Challenge” sa pamamagitan ng kanyang awiting “BAHA,” tampok sina Poison 13 at Onad, kung saan binatikos niya ang korapsiyon sa pamahalaan at ang epekto nito sa mga ordinaryong Pilipinong patuloy na dumaranas ng matinding epekto ng pagbaha tuwing tag-ulan.
“Ayan na ang ulan, tumakbo na sa kawalan, lumangoy sa kasakiman, lubog sa kapabayaan,” sabi ng kanta, na binibigyang-diin ang pagdurusang dulot ng kasakiman at kapabayaan ng pamahalaan.
“Sa munti mong barong-barong. Ingatan ang lahat. Maging supling mong kalong-kalong halo-halong kalungkutan at problemang patong-patong. Sa ulang di ka masasalba ng kahit anong payong. Ito ang bunga ng kasakimang pinipitas. Kung nandito ‘yung baha, bakit pondo yung nililimas,” dagdag nito.
Binatikos din ng kanta ang mga opisyal ng pamahalaan na inaakusahan ng pagbulsa sa pondo ng taumbayan na nakalaan sana para sa mga flood control project habang ang mga ordinaryong Pilipino ang sumasalo sa mga epekto ng pagbaha.
“Sarap po yata diyan ang inyong pagkakaupo habang yung iba naglilimas ng tubig sa mga tahanan, kayo naman nililimas ang kaban ng bayan.Ang sarap siguro diyan kaya hindi makatayo. Komportable kalagayan at mga higaan niyo,” wika ng awitin.
Sumali naman ang ilang rapper, kabilang sina Pio Balbuena, Hambog ng Sagpro, at Flict-G, na nagdagdag ng sarili nilang mga linya sa awitin ni KASSA at nagbahagi ng kani-kanilang pananaw hinggil sa mga insidente ng pagbaha at mga isyung nakapaligid dito.
Tinuligsa ni Pio ang katiwalian at pag-iipon ng kayamanan ng mga nasa kapangyarihan habang patuloy na nagdurusa sa pagbaha ang mga ordinaryong Pilipino.
“Nakakaangat sila kasi maraming lubog na lubog. Baha-baha na dito sa amin habang kayo ay busog na busog. Mga maletang malalaki, maraming perang nakatabi. Habang kami, kapagka umuulan ay hindi na makatulog sa gabi,” wika ni Pio, habang tinutuligsa ang mga politikong inaakusahan ng pag-una sa pansarili nilang interes kaysa sa kapakanan ng mga Pilipino.
“Ang taas na ng tubig at lumalampas sa hita. Tiis na lang ulit, ganun naman tayong mga Pilipino. Kapag inabutan ng lima, ihuli na ‘yung kiliti mo. Binobobo ‘yung Pilipino ng binobotong matatalino at pinopondo ‘yung mga pondo, buhay ng tao ‘yung nakaabono,” dagdag ng rapper.
Samantala, binigyang-pansin ni Flict-G ang trilyun-trilyong pisong inilaan para sa mga proyekto sa pagkontrol ng baha, at kinuwestiyon kung paano ginastos ang mga pondo at kung bakit marami sa mga proyekto ang nananatiling hindi natatapos.
“Alam mo ba? Na kung susuriin mo ang mga datos. Mahigit isang trilyon sa apat na taon ng gastos. Kalahati sa mga proyekto, ‘di rin matatapos. Kasi umpisa pa lang, pati ‘yung bidding, ‘di maayos,” wika niya.
Nagpahayag naman si Hambog ng Sagpro ng galit at pagkadismaya sa katiwalian at maling paggamit ng tulong ng pamahalaan at pampublikong pondo tuwing may bagyo.
Binatikos din niya ang mga opisyal dahil sa pag-una sa sarili nilang interes habang nahihirapan ang mga komunidad dahil sa pagbaha, gutom, kakulangan sa imprastraktura, at mabagal o hindi sapat na ayuda, kasabay ng panawagan para sa pananagutan.
“Sindikato’t kriminal sana ang rehas mahaplos. Mapunta pa sa impyerno para rehas malapnos,” wika niya.
Ibinahagi naman ni Senador Bam Aquino sa kanyang Facebook page ang music video ni Balbuena, kung saan sumagot ang rapper ng, “Sana maipasa na yung CADENA. Blockchain the budget now!”.
Tinutukoy ng rapper ang Senate Bill No. 1506 ni Sen. Bam, o ang Citizen Access and Disclosure of Expenditures for National Accountability (CADENA) Act, na inaprubahan ng Senado sa ikatlo at pinal na pagbasa noong Disyembre 15, 2025, sa botong 17-0, nang walang pagtutol o abstention. Wala namang nakitang pagkilos sa bersiyon ng panukala sa Kamara.
