GRAMMY-NOMINATED SINGER-WONGWRITER LUKAS GRAHAM RELEASES NEW ALBUM GOOD TIMES OUT NOW VIA VIRGIN MUSIC GROUP

SHARES DEEPLY PERSONAL TRIBUTE TO LATE FRIEND ON FOCUS TRACK “BEFORE YOU GO”

NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES WITH ED SHEERAN KICK OFF THIS AUG. 15

    LISTEN HERE

Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Lukas Graham released his new album Good Times, out now via Virgin Music Group. Rooted in the Celtic and folk traditions that shaped his upbringing in Copenhagen, the 13-track collection brings Lukas full circle, reconnecting him with the storytelling tradition, acoustic instrumentation and Irish musical heritage at the heart of his earliest relationship with music.

The album arrives one day before Lukas joins Ed Sheeran as a special guest on select North American dates of the 2026 “Loop Tour,” beginning tomorrow, August 15, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, MN. A full list of dates is included below.

With the album’s arrival, Lukas also shares “Before You Go,” one of the project’s most intimate songs, written in 2019 for his longtime friend Thomas, who had been chronically ill and slowly dying throughout all of their nearly two-decade friendship. When Thomas was preparing for further brain surgery that could potentially take away his sense of taste, he asked to join Lukas on tour stops in Korea and Japan, where Lukas helped give him the chance to experience the places, food and moments he had hoped to while he still could. After turning that experience into a song, Lukas held onto it, promising Thomas it would only be shared publicly at a time of his choosing. Years later, Thomas asked Lukas to sing it at his funeral, where “Before You Go” was performed publicly for the first time in the same church where Lukas had buried his father. Since then, the song has become a quietly powerful moment in Lukas’ live show. “It’s a song that’s meant to be sung along to, even though nobody knows it yet,” says Lukas.

That sense of memory, grief, friendship and connection runs throughout Good Times, an album built on reflection, heritage and hard-won perspective. Across the project, Lukas returns to the roots-music traditions that surrounded him as a child in Christiania, an abandoned, squatted army base that is now a free-spirited Copenhagen community where he grew up. His late father Eugene, a Donegal-born music lover, booked folk musicians throughout Scandinavia and helped introduce Lukas to the sounds and communal spirit that shaped the album’s foundation.

The album was recorded with a rolling collective of musicians in Nashville and New York, many of whom had a personal connection to Eugene and the folk community Lukas grew up around. The players include Michael McGoldrick, one of the world’s great uilleann pipe and Irish flute players; bassist Sam Grisman; Tim O’Brien on mandolin and backing vocals; Stuart Duncan on fiddle; and Brian Sutton on guitar — a lineup that roots the album in the Celtic, bluegrass and acoustic traditions that have long been part of Lukas’ story.

“People my dad knew. People who had slept on a couch in my mum and dad’s living room,” Lukas previously explained. “It was very important to me that we got a hold of some of these musicians and got that cultural connection.”

Good Times includes the previously released title track, a spirited album opener that set the tone for the project’s bright, communal energy, as well as “Second Chance,” a song about owning your mistakes, embracing renewal and choosing to become a better version of yourself. The album was first introduced with “To Know A Girl,” a banjo-driven offering paired with a soaring vocal and powerhouse chorus.

The GRAMMY-nominated Danish soul-pop artist first achieved global fame with the 2015 breakout hit “7 Years” — a reflective ballad that earned three GRAMMY nominations, topped charts in more than 15 countries, and placed him among the first 25 artists in Spotify’s Billions Club. Over the past decade, he has built a multi-platinum international career spanning four albums, with hits including “Love Someone,” certified platinum in 18 countries. His work blends soul, pop and deeply personal storytelling, exploring themes of family, love and resilience — from the loss of his father to becoming one himself.

Known for his emotional depth and powerful live presence, Lukas Graham has sold out tours across Europe, North America and Asia, and performed on major stages including the GRAMMY Awards, MTV VMAs and Good Morning America. This year, he will bring songs from Good Times to stadiums across North America as a special guest on select dates of Ed Sheeran’s 2026 “Loop Tour.”

  • Spotify’s The Come Up unpacks SB19’s six-year rise from RADAR to Lollapalooza!

Spotify’s The Come Up unpacks SB19’s six-year rise from RADAR to Lollapalooza!

Following their debut at Lollapalooza as the first P-Pop group to perform at the festival, Spotify spotlights SB19 in The Come Up, a global series that traces the defining moments behind an artist’s rise,

SB19’s streaming story is unique as they are known beyond a single breakout moment. Since “GENTO”, the group has maintained more than 1.4 million global monthly listener base on Spotify, built and sustained by fans across multiple releases, cross-market collaborations, and the power of playlisting.

SB19 joined RADAR Philippines in March 2020 as one of the Filipino artists featured in the program’s global launch, with 141,489 monthly listeners on Spotify. Six years later, they performed at Lollapalooza with over 1.4 million monthly listeners. As SB19 moved through eras, Spotify’s playlists carried each chapter to new listeners.

MAPA earned a spot on Tatak Pinoy. Gento broke through Viral Hits Philippines, and SB19’s monthly listeners nearly quadrupled in three months. When Spotify launched P-Pop On The Rise to give the genre a dedicated home, SB19 were the first artists on the cover. That reach also started crossing borders. Their JVKE collaboration brought a Tagalog verse into a global hit, while joint track Toyfriend with Japan’s BE:FIRST landed on the cover of Hot Hits Japan.

“The more places SB19 showed up on Spotify, the more their audience grew and stuck around. Our playlists like Tatak Pinoy, P-Pop On The Rise, and Viral Hits Philippines are how millions of listeners discover what to listen to next. And what stands out with SB19 is that every era gave us a reason to champion them again. Each time, the audience got bigger and stayed longer. From playlists to podcasts to a first-of-its-kind Listening Party that drew fans from around the world, it’s exciting to see an artist and their fans growing together on Spotify,” said Chesca Tan, Lead Editor for Spotify Philippines.

Fans and new listeners alike found ways to go deeper with SB19 on Spotify. A’TIN tuned into the group’s exclusive podcast Atin Atin Lang between releases, joined the Pagsibol-era A’TIN ‘To! jeepney art activation, and showed up 20,000-strong for SB19’s Listening Party— a first by a Filipino artist on Spotify. For newer listeners, Discover WeeklyRelease Radar, and DJ kept surfacing SB19 tracks to people who hadn’t searched for them directly.

SB19 reflects, “When we debuted eight years ago, we never imagined performing at international festivals or hearing fans around the world sing our songs back to us. A’TIN has been with us through every chapter, and Spotify has helped more listeners discover our music. Every milestone reminds us how far we’ve come and motivates us to keep creating music that makes Filipinos proud.”

  • Eloisa, OPM Queen of Busking, Reclaims Her Dream with Reimagined “Pangarap”

Eloisa, OPM Queen of Busking, Reclaims Her Dream with Reimagined “Pangarap”

Known as the OPM Queen of Busking for her raw, heartfelt performances that captivate audiences in the most intimate settings, Eloisa is set to unveil a powerful new chapter in her musical journey with the reimagined version of “Pangarap” under KDR Music House, arriving this August 14.

More than just a song, “Pangarap” is a deeply personal narrative—one that reflects a pivotal moment in Eloisa’s life. After joining a nationwide songwriting camp, she found herself returning to her day job, carrying a lingering question in her heart: “Why am I back here, when all I want is to create?” From that quiet yet profound realization, the song was born.

Rooted in longing and self-discovery, “Pangarap” speaks to the universal struggle between practicality and passion. It captures the emotional weight of putting dreams on hold, while gently reminding listeners that no matter how far we drift, the call to pursue what we truly love never fades.

The reimagined version breathes new life into the track, amplifying its emotional depth and sincerity. At the heart of the song lies a promise—captured in the poignant lyric: “Ngayon ay dumaan, di na kita bibitawan.” It is a declaration of commitment, not just to a dream, but to the person Eloisa is meant to become. It’s a turning point—one where hesitation transforms into courage.

With her signature authenticity and soul-stirring delivery, Eloisa transforms “Pangarap” into an anthem for dreamers. It resonates with anyone who has ever felt pulled toward something greater, yet held back by circumstance. It’s a song for those learning to choose their dreams again—this time, with intention and bravery.

As she continues to rise under KDR Music House, Eloisa proves that her voice goes beyond the streets where she once busked—it carries stories, truths, and aspirations that connect deeply with her listeners. With “Pangarap,” she doesn’t just sing about dreams—she lives them, one note at a time—beginning this August 14.

  • Must-try experiences in Manila according to the cast of Bongga Ka, ‘Day!

Must-try experiences in Manila according to the cast of Bongga Ka, ‘Day!

The lead cast of Bongga Ka, ’Day! The Annie Batungbakal Musical performance during the Hotdog tribute concert at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.

Why do people keep coming back to Manila? According to the cast of Bongga Ka, ’Day! The Annie Batungbakal Musical, there are plenty of reasons to love and discover the metro. One can start with its museums, continue through an old neighborhood or quiet café, and end with Filipino comfort food and a relaxing night out.

The idea takes its cue from Hotdog band’s “Manila,” the nostalgic classic featured in the musical. Like the song, the cast’s recommendations celebrate Metro Manila beyond its traffic and busy streets.

    Atasha Muhlach
    Sam Concepcion

Start with a historical and cultural tour

For Atasha Muhlach, who plays the titular role Annie Batungbakal, the best way to understand Manila is to see how the old and new continue to live beside each other. Her first stop is the National Museum of the Philippines, where visitors can get a quick introduction to the country’s art, history, and heritage.

“I would take them to the National Museum of the Philippines. It’s really good to see the effort they’re putting into preserving part of Philippine history. To see all of that and learn about different aspects of the Philippines is really nice,” she shared.

Sam Concepcion, who plays Romer, would stretch that museum visit into a full cultural itinerary. “If it’s something more historical or cultural, you’d probably bring them to Intramuros, bring them to Chinatown, the oldest Chinatown or to Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo, and the National Museum.”

    KD Estrada

Slow down at a quiet café

After walking through museums and old neighborhoods, the next assignment is simple: find a great coffee spot. Jeff Moses, who alternates as Romer, likes exploring the quieter cafés around Salcedo Village in Makati. “Marami silang coffee shops na hindi masyadong matao. Masarap iyong coffee. Iyon iyong mga pinupuntahan ko.”

KD Estrada, who plays the character Burn Rivera, has a similarly relaxed option for anyone staying in the South. “Kasi, as a South boy, mahirap maghanap ng go-to place, and we always go out of our way to meet people. My friends are from the North, and my work is always in the North, so I barely have time to go around the South. But when I’m in the South, I usually go to Westgate because it’s very chill. May mga cafés diyan, and I like to eat around there.”

Meanwhile, Concepcion’s quiet spot comes with burgers. He recommends Flipside in Pasig for an easy meal away from the busy restaurants. “You know what I like? Burgers. What’s the burger place called Flipside, near my place in Pasig.” He added, “It’s nearby. There are so many burger spots these days; I think that’s one of the quieter ones.”

    Anthony Rosaldo

    Try Filipino food

For Anthony Rosaldo, who also plays the character Romer, the obvious answer is sinigang. The fun part is choosing which version to order. “Ako, sinigang. Paborito ko kasi siya, at marami siyang versions. May sinigang na baboy, may hipon. May sinigang sa bayabas, may sinigang sa miso.”

Moses goes for another Filipino favorite: chicken inasal that reminds him of home. “Filipino food, siyempre, taste of home—inasal. May kinakainan kami sa QC, tapat ng Bo’s Coffee around the Scout area: Bacolod Chicken Inasal. Sobrang lapit ng taste sa Bacolod.”

Estrada also brings visiting friends out for inasal, even if it means making the trip to Makati. “Kung first time talaga, I’ll go out of my way and bring them to Makati, tapos Chicken House Express.”

    Jeff Moses

    Unwind before heading home

The cast’s idea of relaxing is refreshingly simple: eat, talk, and shake off the day. For Moses, Brotzeit at Newport World Resorts has become a go-to post-rehearsal hangout.

“Brotzeit, siguro, dito. If it’s theater, magkakasama kami. Doon kami nagpa-“pagpag” from the characters. Quick catch-up before umuwi, before we leave our workplace. After kumain and mag-bonding. Isa siya sa mga places na late magsara rito sa Newport. Masarap iyong food and masarap iyong kasama, siyempre, kasi kami-kaming mga katrabaho.”

Estrada has the same habit. “If it’s here in Newport, usually Brotzeit. Naging tambayan. Parang debrief namin as characters, and then we get to be ourselves for a few hours.”

Rosaldo’s recovery plan is quieter and particularly useful after rehearsals and workouts. “Since nagre-rehearse ako, madalas din akong mag-workout. Medyo athlete era ko ngayon, so nag-HYROX ako. Iyong pinaka-unwind and relaxation time ko is when I go for massages.”

    Atasha Muhlach

    Simply no place like Manila

The landmarks and restaurants give those visiting plenty to do, but the cast agrees that Manila’s strongest pull is the people. Muhlach points to the warmth that visitors often remember after they leave. “At the end of the day, we’re very family-oriented, warm, and welcoming. It’s so nice to be proud to say that this is your community.”

Leading men of Bongga Ka, ’Day! The Annie Batungbakal Musical!

Whenever abroad, Estrada misses even the parts of Manila that other people might consider chaotic. “Honestly, when I went to the U.S. and Canada, it just made me miss the Philippines and Manila even more. I love the fact that a lot of things here in Manila are very personal to me. It’s the stuff I grew up on. Whenever I go to another country, I enjoy it, but nothing beats the noise of Manila. Nothing beats the people I know here. Nothing beats our hospitality and kindness. It’s the very simple things that keep me coming back.”

Anthony also describes Manila as home because of the family life and friendliness he associates with it. “Manila is home for me. It’s easier to go around, people are friendlier, and iba iyong love for family ng mga Pilipino. I grew up in Manila, so I really call Manila home. There’s no better word for it than home.”

That is what makes the cast’s guide feel true to Hotdog’s “Manila.” One can visit the historical sites and try several Pinoy food—but the people and the feeling of home are what make the city worth returning to.

Newport World Resorts, in association with VIVA Communications and The Philippine STAR, reunites for Bongga Ka, ’Day! The Annie Batungbakal Musical featuring Hotdog’s timeless hits. The show, staged with PETA Plus, is slated to open in September 2026 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.

  • Zaijian Jaranilla, Yukii Takahashi, and Aljon Mendoza on Why ‘Wish Date’ is Unique!

Zaijian Jaranilla, Yukii Takahashi, and Aljon Mendoza on Why ‘Wish Date’ is Unique!

Film, live music, and theater. These three art forms are taking center stage on Wish Date, a concert series by Wish 107.5 and KDR Music House.
Its upcoming edition, “Wish Date: Unchanging Glass,” will feature a film that follows three people who can’t seem to let go of the past. Set to premiere on August 23 at the Araneta Coliseum as part of Wish 107.5’s 12th anniversary celebration, it will be top-billed by Zaijian Jaranilla, Yukii Takahashi, and Aljon Mendoza.

For all three, “Wish Date” is unlike anything else in their filmography. “This is unique because there’s a movie, and then we perform live some scenes, which is a great opportunity because I haven’t done that — it’s an amazing try, it’s an amazing challenge,” Yukii, a Filipino-Japanese actress who has starred in projects like “Batang Quiapo” and “Almost Us,” shared in an interview with Wish 107.5.

Apart from the film and live acting stints, “Wish Date: Unchanging Glass” will also turn the limelight on musical performances, where guest artists — including The Juans, dwta, Renz Verano, and Pops Fernandez — will perform songs that complement the story. For Aljon, an alumnus of “Pinoy Big Brother: Otso,” this is another exciting feature of the concert series.

“‘Yung gustong-gusto ko dito sa Wish Date… meron tayong film, tapos in between scenes, meron tayong mga performer na umaakma sa feeling ng mga scenes,” he enthused in an interview. Zaijian, who first made a name in the industry as a child actor, describes his Wish Date debut as “different.”

“Sobrang different niya kasi unang-una… may live acting. First time kong mararamdaman ‘yung ganong pakiramdam, na umarte sa gitna ng stage, tapos sobrang daming tao — at may banda na kakanta,” he revealed.

What also ties the three together is a shared appreciation for the people making the project happen. c

“‘Yung bonding behind the scenes, behind the camera with the staff, the artist, mga co-actors ko, and then of course people from Wish… everyone here, sobrang saya,” Yukii stated when asked about her core memory from making the film.

Inviting concert-lovers to attend the event, she said, “Maki-relate kayo rito sa kwento namin, maki-relate kayo sa mga kantang [tutugtugin] sa Araneta Coliseum. Sama-sama tayong ma-inlove, maiyak, at kiligin.”

Apart from Yukii, Aljon, and Zaijian, “Unchanging Glass” will also star Monina Lawrence, Sharmaine Suarez, and Chikki Magbitang.

  • SEVENTEEN’s DxS Releases New Spotify Single!

SEVENTEEN’s DxS Releases New Spotify Single!

Today, Spotify announced the release of “One,” an all-new Spotify Singles track performed by DxS –  SEVENTEEN’s vocal powerhouse duo comprised of DK and SEUNGKWAN.

The Spotify Singles track also serves as the new official anthem for T1, one of the most celebrated esports teams in the world.

Produced by Founder of PLEDIS Entertainment  Sung Soo Han in collaboration with Spotify, and composed by Nickko Young, d’tour and Neckwav, “One – Spotify Singles” celebrates the forces that drive competitive gaming, T1 and the fans behind them. Its lyrics tell a story of trust and solidarity, pushing past limits together and becoming each other’s answer in moments of doubt – making it a song built around what makes the team and its community special.

The release is the latest milestone in Spotify’s ongoing partnership with T1, and marks the first ever Spotify Singles track created for an esports team. Since launching in 2016, the Spotify Singles program has provided artists with a creative outlet to record exclusive tracks for the platform, from K-Pop ON! (온) Singles featuring ENHYPEN and STAYC, to the KrOWN X HAN series spotlighting K-hip-hop artists like Jay Park, Kid Milli, and MIRANI amongst others. With “One,” the program enters new territory, its first original track created for an esports team.

    From Mockumentary to Main Stage

The release of “One” follows a teaser campaign that had fans of both SEVENTEEN and T1 doing a double take. The teaser video, which took the form of a mockumentary, followed T1’s fictional journey to debuting as a K-Pop boy group – only for DxS to show up and steal the spotlight with a surprise appearance.

The clip sparked conversations across both fandoms and set the stage for the release of “One – Spotify Singles”.

DxS will take the stage at T1 Home Ground in Seoul on August 14 to perform “One – Spotify Singles,” live for the first time. And for T1 and SEVENTEEN fans everywhere, the live performance video will be released on Spotify later this month.

“E-sports and K-Pop have some of the most passionate fan communities in the world, and with ‘One’ we set out to push the fandom experience into new territory. This Spotify Singles collaboration, the storytelling behind it, and DxS’ live performance at T1 Home Ground are all about creating a deeper connection between fans on both sides and the worlds they love.” said Gautam Talwar, Spotify’s General Manager for Asia Pacific.

  • The Grind Finally Hit: Delinquent Society Drops “Gumagana Na”!

The Grind Finally Hit: Delinquent Society Drops “Gumagana Na”!

After a decade of hard work, Delinquent Society returns with “Gumagana Na,” a song that celebrates perseverance, loyalty, and the rewards of staying true to the journey. Marking a milestone the group once only dreamed of, the single reflects on how years of dedication have finally begun to bear fruit.

After years of grinding, Delinquent Society is now seeing the results of their commitment through sold-out performances, brand partnerships, and growing opportunities. What makes this chapter especially meaningful is that they continue to create music alongside the same people who have been with them since the beginning.

The group still works closely with DJ Ross Fuego, longtime friend and producer Delae, Burbankz, Murphy, and producer Wudz, proving that success is even more fulfilling when it is shared with the people who helped build it from day one.

The inspiration behind “Gumagana Na” came during a studio session while searching for samples and ideas. Instead, the group rediscovered an old voice note from their Uncle Ricky. The recording immediately resonated with everyone and became the emotional foundation of the song, appearing in the introduction and woven throughout the track as a reminder of where they came from and everything they have overcome.

With the voice note as the starting point, producer Wudz built the beat around it, allowing the record to come together organically. The result is a deeply personal anthem about trusting the process, staying loyal to your team, and recognizing the moment when years of sacrifice finally begin to pay off.

More than a celebration of success, “Gumagana Na” is a tribute to ten years of friendship, resilience, and the belief that consistent hard work creates opportunity. It serves as a reminder that while reaching your goals is important, the people who stand beside you throughout the journey are what make the destination truly meaningful.

Galawan namin parang Neptunes, batang galing Davao

Lahat ng gusto ko gusto kong makuha
I’d give it all dugo’t pawis tsaka luha
    Sobrang blessed magkapera saming sulat
I’m checking goals tapos bonus na yung moolah

    [Hook: Aud & Uncle Ricky]
    Whole crew homies gang
    Pumepera na (Money)
Sakin to, sakanya, eto kanila (Power)
Same parin yung ikot walang nag iba
Dating mga plano nowadays gumagana na (Everything)

  • British duo Thandii teams up with Jun Regalado, Philippines’ most recorded drummer, for new album “Coco Okayo”

British duo Thandii teams up with Jun Regalado, Philippines’ most recorded drummer, for new album “Coco Okayo”

The fusion blends Manila’s disco-funk golden era with Margate England’s art-pop

In Regalado’s home studio, from right, Thandii (Graham Godfrey and Jess Berry), Jun Regalado, Monina Regalado, and Sama Sama Records’ founder Norsicaa aka Alice Whittington, January 12, 2026

When a British alt-soul and art-pop duocollaborates with Filipino musical royalty, the result is Coco Okayo, a blinding flash of artistic spirit that transcends geographical and generational barriers.

For London-based act Thandii,a chaotic whirlwind of a trip to Manila allowed Graham Godfrey and Jess Berry to explore a new cultural context of song-writing. After several prolific years of self-released albums, they channeled

Godfrey’s Filipino heritagethrough Sama Sama Records’ founder Norsicaa’s ambitious project to make their next album with the most recorded drummer in the Philippines, Jun Regalado.

Regalado is a 1998 KATHA Outstanding Musician, 2018 ALIW Lifetime Achievement Awardee, and Pakil’s Pride Awardee at the 2024 1st Laguna Jazz Festival. Now in his late 70s, his track ‘Pinoy Funk’ was reissued by London- based Soundway Recordsin their 2024 “Ayo Ke Disco”album. On youtube.com/@JunRegaladoMusic over the past five years, he has also re-created drumming to nearly a hundred songs he originally recorded in the 70s and 80s. Regalado points out that Coco Okayo “is unlike OPM sessions or Manila Sound cuts I’ve done before and it is my first album collaboration experience outside of my peers.”

Jun Regalado recording Coco Okayo at Wild Grass Recording Studios, Quezon City, January 13, 2026

Not only does Thandii take inspiration from the 70s ‘Manila Sound’movement, the sound of Manila itself is embedded in the album via the local recording studio. It was “like stepping into a time-warp”, the duo says. “Period correct pre-amps, compressors and instruments recreated the tones of the era and combined with Sir Jun’s magical sound and touch – it created an authenticity so completely right for the moment.”

British duo Thandii—Jess Berry and Graham Godfrey—blend soul, art-pop and Manila Sound influences on Coco Okayo.

In exploring a sound born of the diaspora with roots in British soul music, Coco Okayo makes full use of the polymath abilities of both Berry and Godfrey. “I felt like the melodies and flurries of flute poured out of me during this whole process – it was quite freeing and explorative and unlike any album we’d made previously,” Berry says.

Graham Godfrey and Jun Regalado reviewing recording playback at Wild Grass Recording Studios, Quezon City

The resulting album dances around genres and influences, from OPM to soul, disco-funk and trip-hop, refusing to be categorized as any one thing and yet cohesive in its sound. Thandii likes to dub it MAR-NILA. “It’s a new genre coming from Filipino diaspora artists paying tribute to the Manila sound of the 70s,” say Thandii, “but combining it with modern day post-punk-disco, beat-driven-art-popmusic coming from the small seaside town of Margate”. Whichever way the listener might interpret it, it’s clear that Coco Okayo is not stuck between worlds, but rather, has built a utopian world of its own.

Jun Regalado recognized as Pakil’s 1st Pride Awardee at the 2024 1st Laguna Jazz Festival, May 12, 2024

Regalado invites everyone to support this deeply personal yet universal project, underlining its weight and meaning. “This is Filipino musicianship being celebrated abroad.”

Coco Okayo, the collaborative album by Thandii and Jun Regalado.

Coco Okayo by Thandii and Jun Regalado will hit Spotify and all streaming platforms through Bandcamp on September 11. Check out the single and pre-order the vinyl or digital album at  https://lnk.bio/samasama/thandii.

  • SunKissed Lola Returns with Honest New Single “Edi Magalit Ka”

SunKissed Lola Returns with Honest New Single “Edi Magalit Ka”

After more than a year since their last EP release, SunKissed Lola returns with “Edi Magalit Ka,” a warm, playful, and honest new single that builds on the heartfelt storytelling behind previous fan favorites such as “Pasilyo,” “Paki Sabi,” and “Makalimutan Ka.” Turning a familiar Filipino phrase into a song about love, patience, and choosing the relationship over the argument, the track marks a fresh yet familiar chapter for the band.

Known for heartfelt songs about love, longing, and the emotions people carry through relationships, SunKissed Lola enters a new chapter with a track that feels both familiar and refreshing. “Edi Magalit Ka” takes its title from a phrase often heard in everyday conversations, especially between couples and friends, but the band gives it a softer meaning. Instead of sounding dismissive or prideful, the song becomes an affectionate way of saying that even when things get difficult, love is still there.

“It’s a song about relationships,” vocalist Laura Lacbain shares. “Hindi maiiwasan ang away sa relationship, pero hindi pa rin mawawala ang love. Susuyuin pa rin sa huli.” Vocalist and guitarist Alvin “Bino” Serito describes the track as a “loving anthem,” saying that even when someone is upset, the feeling behind the song remains tender. “Even if you’re mad with your special someone, at the end of the day, they’re still your favorite person to come home to,” he says.

    credit: SunKissed Lola

The song first began in 2021, but its earliest version carried a more prideful tone. As the track developed, the band softened the lyrics and gave the song more emotional openness. According to vocalist and guitarist Dan Ombao, Bino helped shape the confession-like parts of the song and added the line “’Di ba?” to make the message feel gentler.

Bino explains that the heart of the song lies in choosing love over ego. “No one has to win,” he says. “I will always choose the relationship over the argument.”

That emotional shift became central to the final version of “Edi Magalit Ka.” What could have been read as stubborn or sarcastic became something more sincere. The title itself invites curiosity because it depends on how the listener understands it.

“The title was intriguing in itself,” Laura says. “You will be curious. Pwedeng i-send sa jowa. You really need to listen to the song to understand the context.” Musically, “Edi Magalit Ka” also reflects a more relaxed and intentional side of SunKissed Lola. Dan shares that the song started as an acoustic piece before he brought it to the rest of the band. From there, the arrangement came together naturally, with each member adding their own parts.

For bassist Danj Quimson, the goal was to keep the sound simple and laid-back so the lyrics could stand out. “We all united to make it sound laid-back, simple, and we wanted to highlight the lyrics of the song,” he shares.

Compared to some of their earlier songs, which leaned into more unpredictable arrangements, “Edi Magalit Ka” was designed to feel lighter, warmer, and easier on the ears.

“For this one, we made it simple for the audience,” Bino says. “We made it magaan sa tainga.”

Dan adds, “That’s also what the song asks for. A very simple, refreshing, and warm song.”

For drummer Genson Viloria, the song’s charm comes from how instantly familiar it feels. He shares that when he first heard it, he thought it sounded like a cover because of how catchy and natural it was.

While the track still carries the easy-listening quality that listeners have come to love from SunKissed Lola, the band sees it as a more vulnerable and straightforward release. For Dan, “Edi Magalit Ka” stands apart because of how honest it feels. Laura also sees it as a fresh direction for the band, especially because it focuses on being in a relationship and working through the struggles that come with it.

“It’s the comeback of SunKissed Lola,” Laura says.

As the band approaches its fifth year, the release of “Edi Magalit Ka” also marks a more mature and intentional era for the group. Danj shares that he felt a change in the band during the recording process, with each member becoming more focused on serving the song in the best way possible.

Bino says the band has returned to its roots with more conviction. “We know our strengths and now we are able to maximize it,” he shares. “We are more intentional in releasing this song.”

Ultimately, SunKissed Lola hopes “Edi Magalit Ka” makes listeners smile, feel kilig, and maybe even rethink the way they handle small conflicts with the people they love.

“We want them to feel what we felt the first time we played the song,” Bino says. “We hope it makes them smile, the way kung paano namin siya niyakap sa umpisa.”

Laura adds that she hopes younger listeners, especially those new to relationships, realize that love also means learning how to work things out. “Sana kiligin din sila,” she says. “Sana our young listeners na bago pa lang sa relationship, ma-realize nila na they need to work it out.”

With “Edi Magalit Ka,” SunKissed Lola opens the door to more music, more stories, and a deeper connection with their listeners. Fans can expect more songs, more content, more gigs, more tours, and a closer look at the members beyond their roles in the band.

“We want to be part of more people’s stories,” Bino says.

“Edi Magalit Ka” is out today on all major streaming platforms.
