AMERICAN RAPPER-SINGER J.I.D ANNOUNCES MASSIVE ‘GOD DOES LIKE WORLD TOURS’ MANILA ON MAY 30 SATURDAY!

Announcement – Grammy nominated American rapper-singer J.I.D announces the Asia leg of his much-awaited massive ‘God Does Like World Tours’ and will include a stop in MANILA on May 30, 2026 (Saturday) at The Podium Hall. Presented by Eventim Live Asia and Wilbros Live. Tickets go on-sale on October 8 (Wednesday), 11AM via SMTickets.com and SM Tickets outlets.

Born and raised in East Atlanta, J.I.D grew up on his parents’ collection of classic funk/soul LPs, and broke onto the scene with his 2015 EP, DiCaprio. The EP saw him collaborating with hip-hop duo EARTHGANG, whom he’d previously joined on a 2014 tour. Spotted here by J. Cole, J.I.D was promptly signed to Dreamville/Interscope Records. Soon after the signing, J.I.D made his major-label debut with the widely celebrated The Never Story (2017) which was quickly followed by the critically acclaimed album DiCaprio 2 (2018). The sophomore project garnered significant press attention and earned the rapper a spot in that year’s XXL’s Freshmen class. J.I.D further cemented his status as an exciting rap talent with standout performances on Dreamville’s Platinum-certified, Billboard #1 compilation Revenge of the Dreamers III (2019), which received GRAMMY nominations for “Best Rap Album” and “Best Rap Performance.” His growing popularity led to a collaboration with Imagine Dragons on “Enemy” for Netflix’s Arcane soundtrack, amassing nearly two billion streams, achieving 4x RIAA Platinum status, and earning nominations at the MTV Music Awards, AMAs, and iHeart Awards.

In 2022, J.I.D released The Forever Story, a critically acclaimed album hailed as a “classic” by Clash and featured on numerous year-end lists. The album reached #12 on the Billboard Hot 200 and earned RIAA Gold certification. “Surround Sound” featuring 21 Savage and Baby Tate on the album became a viral sensation with its TikTok “Ceiling” challenge, re-entering in Billboard Hot 100 as well as topping Billboard Viral 50 and TikTok charts, eventually achieving 3x RIAA Platinum status. His dexterous raps and songwriting pen has also caught the eye of many other music peers including Doja Cat, Offset, Dua Lipa, Imagine Dragons, Freddie Gibbs and more.

Humming off the success of his last project, J.I.D teased the release of his fourth studio album God Does Like Ugly (2025) at the top of the year with the single “WRK.” Following which he released a Preluxe edition of the album that featured four tracks including a monster lyrical effort “Animals” with Eminem. The EP successfully activated J.I.D’s passionate fan base, who were thoroughly impressed when the complete album dropped in August. Itfeatures an impressive array of guest appearances including Clipse, Ciara, Ty Dolla $ign, Vince Staples, Jessie Reyez, Westside Gunna and more, creating a rich and diverse sonic landscape. God Does Like Ugly instantly became a timeless contribution to the year’s hip-hop releases marking another successful project from J.I.D in the pantheon of his catalog. A highly anticipated live performer, J.I.D has sold out venues globally and performed at major festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Bonnaroo. Following the new album release, he announced the “God Does Like World Tours,” featuring his largest solo shows across four continents. His nimble lyricism and rapid flow have earned him a devoted fanbase, while his dedication to his craft is sportsmanlike, leaving room for him to be one of rap’s greatest in the making.

Queen of Soul Jaya comes home with ‘Jaya All Hits’ concert

Almost 4 years after moving overseas, the Philippines’ Queen of Soul Jaya is set to reunite with her Filipino fans as she marks her homecoming with a grand concert, “Jaya All Hits,” set to stage on September 14 at the New Frontier Theater.

Promising to take the audience to a nostalgic feeling with her iconic masterpieces,”Jaya All Hits” will be an extraordinary night of soulful emotions and legendary performances from Jaya herself, under the direction of premier concerts and events director John Prats, and produced by Cornerstone Concerts, L-Squared Productions PH, and CAL Studios.

The country’s Queen of Soul expressed her excitement for her anticipated homecoming, specifically mentioning missing the people and the nature of her work in the Philippines. “I missed the co-artists, makeup and hair people, friends and production people that not only makes my job pure joy but I missed the daily chika and learnings,” Jaya shared, recalling her experiences years ago before migrating to the US. “We have one another to really lean on and when we need to unload and talk stories, you would be so shocked to know what comes out of our mouths—just kidding, but not really,” she added.

Meanwhile, Jaya is thrilled to be staging her homecoming concert in September, realizing all the changes that happened throughout the years of not being in the country. “This homecoming concert is quite exciting and emotional for me. Many of my beloved and respected mentors and friends have passed away, and the music landscape has changed since I last was in the Philippines,” she shared, then revealing personal changes she had to go through. “I have also changed in many ways when it comes to my craft. At 55 years old, I hope that you will still enjoy my song choices and delivery, though somewhat mature but heartfelt.”

Formed in 1979, Music and Magic was a key part of the Philippine music scene. Their energetic performances and wide range of songs kept audiences interested until they broke up in 1986. The band had some of the best musicians of their time, like Kuh Ledesma, Bobby Taylo, Angeli Pangilinan-Valenciano, Fe de los Reyes, Jet Montelibano, Butch Elizalde, Nonoy Mendoza, and Vicky Sevilla-Pangilinan. They were known for their tight harmonies, theatrical flair, and ability to connect with audiences.

Philippine Concerts was invited during their rehearsals in Pasay and got a chance to see and talk to the members of Music and Magic.

The event, originally planned as a surprise birthday party for Chavez, has now become a fundraiser to help her as she recovers from her health condition, showing how much the group cares about her.

“We want to check on her to make sure she’s okay,” Kuh Ledesma said.

“We’ve been wanting to do a show for her as well; she’s recovering, and we’ve always wanted to do a show—a reunion, after all,” Fe added.

Sandra Chavez is known as a legendary figure in artist management because she has had a huge impact on the careers of many artists. Kuh has shared that she first managed the Music and Magic artists, and it paved the way for her to manage artists, including Zsa Zsa Padilla, Gary Valenciano, and Sharon Cuneta. She has helped musicians, performers, and other creative people achieve great success by spotting talent and using a strategic approach. She is a legend at navigating the world of Philippine entertainment.

To make the Music & Magic reunion a reality, Jet Montelibano cut short his vacation to join his bandmates, while Fe de los Reyes extended her stay in the Philippines.

“I think you know, the universe went with us; it was meant to be. When your heart is there, walang kokontra,” Fe added.

What’s remarkable is their enduring bond over the years. “We’re like family. Nagkikita pa rin kami. Nag-uusap pa rin kami. We have a chat group. So, we’re connected in more ways than one,” Fe shared.

When they’re asked about the planning and conceptualizing of the reunion show, Vicky shared, “We just close our eyes; we find our body, our mind, and the words coming out. It just made our voice even better.”

When a band gets back together after being apart for a while and spends time practicing, their musical and emotional connections come back naturally, along with their shared talent, story, and creative energy.

The Music Museum will host it for free, and aside from that, the venue adds to the importance of the show. It has hosted many memorable concerts, including Music and Magic’s shows in the late 1980s, and is one of Manila’s most iconic performance spaces. For a lot of fans, the venue brings back memories of the band’s best years, which makes it the perfect place for this reunion.

The Music Museum’s intimate setting will make people feel close to the performers, which will make the night more nostalgic. The “Music Museum Honors Sandra Chavez: Music & Magic & Friends” is more than just a concert; it’s a celebration of friendship, legacy, and the fact that music can bring people together. The concert is a chance for people who grew up listening to Music and Magic to relive the magic of their performances.

This reunion concert is going to be one of the most nostalgic concerts of 2025 because it has a storytelling repertoire, a talented cast of performers (we rarely see this kind of reunion), and classic hits. They will not only honor Sandra Chavez, but they will also remind us all of how music can bring people together and make them happy. Don’t miss this chance to be a part of a night full of heart, soul, and timeless songs of the Music and Magic.
