  • Janine Berdin expands her breakout era with MORE LAB SONGS NG MGA TANGA, sets sights on first headline concert

Janine Berdin expands her breakout era with MORE LAB SONGS NG MGA TANGA, sets sights on first headline concert

In an era when many debut albums disappear from public conversation within weeks, Janine Berdin’s LAB SONGS NG MGA TANGA has done the opposite: it has continued to grow.

Months after its release, the album remains one of the year’s most resonant OPM records, propelled by sustained word-of-mouth support and the viral rise of “What If I Miss You For the Rest of My Life?” What began as a deeply personal collection of songs about love, heartbreak, and emotional uncertainty has gradually evolved into a project with unexpected international reach, finding listeners in the United States, the United Kingdom, and other parts of the world.

Rather than treating that momentum as a fleeting viral moment, Berdin is extending the life of the album with MORE LAB SONGS NG MGA TANGA, a deluxe edition that functions as both a continuation of the original record and a thank-you to the fan community that embraced it from the start.

The expanded release adds four new songs—”Friendship Over,” “Mirisi,” “PROMISE!!!,” and “Uneasy”—alongside a live studio version of “What If I Miss You For the Rest of My Life?” Together, the tracks widen the emotional scope of the album while preserving the candid storytelling that made the original resonate so strongly with listeners.

At the center of the deluxe edition is “PROMISE!!!,” which arrived ahead of the full release and quickly emerged as one of Berdin’s most emotionally exposed recordings. The song traces the fragile territory between heartbreak and obsession, capturing the desperation of trying to hold on to a relationship that is already slipping away.

Opening the new chapter is “Friendship Over,” an intimate pop confession that transforms the quiet pain of growing apart into something universally relatable. Berdin’s songwriting remains sharply observant, balancing humor, self-awareness, and emotional honesty without collapsing into melodrama.

“Mirisi” stands out as one of the project’s most ambitious moments. Effortlessly moving between English, Tagalog, and Bisaya, the track highlights Berdin’s multilingual storytelling and reflects a broader reality of contemporary Filipino music, where identity and emotion are often expressed across multiple languages within a single song.

The updated version of “Uneasy” brings a different energy to the collection. Crunchy guitars, punchy drums, and soaring hooks give the song a more urgent, pop-rock edge, amplifying its portrayal of emotional confusion and mixed signals that blur the line between friendship and romance.

Closing the deluxe set is the long-requested Live in the Studio version of “What If I Miss You For the Rest of My Life?” Stripped back to its bare essentials, the performance foregrounds Berdin’s voice and allows the song’s vulnerability to land with even greater intimacy, emphasizing why it connected so deeply with audiences online.

The release also arrives ahead of a major career milestone: Berdin’s first-ever headline concert on Oct. 7. Framed as the culmination of the LAB SONGS NG MGA TANGA era, the show is expected to bring together the community of fans who have adopted the album’s stories as part of their own emotional lives. More than a live performance, the concert represents a gathering point for the ever-growing “mga tanga” community that has formed around Berdin’s music.

For Berdin, the deluxe edition feels less like a repackaging and more like a document of an artist in motion. It captures a songwriter who trusted her own voice, embraced specificity instead of chasing trends, and discovered that the most personal stories can often travel the farthest.

That journey has already begun to extend beyond the Philippines. The viral success of “What If I Miss You For the Rest of My Life?” has generated millions of streams and inspired thousands of fan-created videos across social media, while also attracting attention from international artists and audiences. The growing global response suggests that Berdin’s appeal lies not in novelty, but in the emotional clarity of her songwriting.

As MORE LAB SONGS NG MGA TANGA arrives, it becomes clear that Berdin is no longer simply promoting a debut album; she is building a creative world that listeners continue to return to long after the first play. If this chapter has established anything, it is that Janine Berdin’s breakthrough is not a moment that has already passed—it is a story that is still unfolding.

  • fitterkarma to headline biggest concert yet with debut album showcase at the Metropolitan Theater

fitterkarma to headline biggest concert yet with debut album showcase at the Metropolitan Theater

Filipino alternative band fitterkarma is taking its biggest step yet as a live act, announcing its first major solo concert at one of the country’s most storied performance venues.

The four-piece outfit will stage kung tayo’y nasa isang horror na pelikula, tiyak ako ang una mong papatayin: The Album Concert on Sept. 19 at the Metropolitan Theater Manila, marking the band’s most ambitious headline production to date. Produced by fitterkarma and GNN, the one-night show celebrates the release of the band’s long-awaited debut full-length album, which arrives two weeks before the concert.

Rather than presenting a traditional setlist, fitterkarma will perform the album in full, giving audiences the opportunity to experience the record exactly as it was intended—from its opening moments to its emotional conclusion.

For vocalist and guitarist Joao de Leon, hearing the songs performed live is integral to understanding the album.

“Witnessing the record live will be a more fulfilling experience,” de Leon says. “For me, watching the songs performed live is the best way to experience it because music being played live has no limits, reaching and releasing your emotions, and the record is meant to be felt above all.”

The concert also promises to elevate fitterkarma’s theatrical live identity through an expanded stage production, exclusive arrangements created specifically for the event, and a special collaboration with The Manila String Machine. The orchestral ensemble, which has previously worked with the band in the studio, will join fitterkarma onstage to bring new depth to the album’s cinematic soundscapes.

Guitarist Lory, also known as Mikee Mendoza, believes presenting the album in its intended sequence offers a different kind of listening experience than individual songs released online.

“I think hearing any album in the order intended by the artist is an experience in itself,” Mendoza says. “Aside from the studio album itself, we hope to elevate that experience by bringing it into a live setting and doing justice to the recorded versions of our tracks.”

The collaboration with The Manila String Machine, he adds, felt like a natural extension of the band’s creative process.

“Since we’ve already worked with them on several recordings, it only felt natural to have them join us onstage for the album launch.”

Since forming in 2023, fitterkarma has emerged as one of the Philippines’ fastest-rising alternative acts, carving out a distinct identity through music that blends alternative rock with Philippine folklore, horror imagery, and theatrical storytelling.

Their breakout singles “Kalapastangan” and “Pag-ibig ay Kanibalismo II” became major streaming successes, both reaching No. 1 on Spotify Philippines’ Top 50 chart and the Billboard Philippines Hot 100, establishing the band as one of the country’s most talked-about new acts.

Ahead of the concert, fitterkarma has also unveiled its latest single, “Purgatoryo,” offering listeners another glimpse into the sonic direction of the forthcoming album. The track embraces a darker, more atmospheric palette, layering noise rock and shoegaze influences over the melodic songwriting that has become one of the band’s defining characteristics.

With its debut album finally arriving and its largest headline concert on the horizon, fitterkarma is preparing to bring its music to life on a scale it has yet to attempt—transforming one of Manila’s most iconic theaters into the setting for an immersive performance that bridges live music, visual storytelling, and theatrical production.

  • Checking Into Manila: lullaboy Returns With Hotels & Heartbreaks Tour

Checking Into Manila: lullaboy Returns With Hotels & Heartbreaks Tour

Following a breakout run across Asia and the release of his most personal album to date, Singapore-based singer-songwriter lullaboy returns to the Philippines with a live experience that transforms heartbreak into healing.

For many artists, heartbreak inspires a song. For Singapore-based singer-songwriter and producer lullaboy, it became the foundation of an entire creative world.

With more than 200 million streams across digital platforms and a growing fanbase throughout Southeast Asia, lullaboy has established himself as one of the region’s most compelling independent artists. Born in the United States, raised in Singapore, and of Indonesian-Chinese heritage, the Berklee College of Music graduate has performed at major festivals across Asia, mounted successful regional headline tours, and was selected to close the official afterparties for all six Singapore dates of Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to creating music rooted in vulnerability, honesty, and hope.

“‘Lullaboy’ comes from the words lullaby and boy, because writing songs was always a way for me to comfort my inner child,” he said. “Even today, I write songs about love, life, and everything in between, and I hope they can bring comfort to everybody’s inner child.”

That mission began after experiencing his first heartbreak, when songwriting became an emotional refuge during a period when he felt no one truly understood what he was going through.

“As I released more songs, people started sending me messages saying they helped them through difficult seasons,” he said. “That’s when I realized sharing my own stories could make a positive impact on other people’s lives. I don’t just make music for fun anymore—I do it because I feel like it’s my purpose.”

That purpose drives Hotels & Heartbreaks, his third studio album and the inspiration behind his ongoing nine-city Asia tour. More than a concert, the live experience invites audiences to “check in hurt and check out healed,” taking listeners on an emotional journey through heartbreak, reflection, and hope. The album’s 12 interconnected tracks and accompanying visualizers were intentionally designed as one continuous narrative, allowing listeners to find pieces of their own stories within the music.

The concept emerged from a realization that professional success alone could not replace genuine human connection.

“I was staying in all these beautiful hotels while touring,” lullaboy recalled. “At the end of the day, I’d lie on my bed and ask myself, ‘What’s it all for?’ You can achieve your biggest dreams, but if you don’t have love or someone to share them with, it doesn’t necessarily bring happiness.”

For lullaboy, everyone has their own “heartbreak hotel” to navigate before finding peace.

“This album is actually an album of hope,” he said.

The Philippines has become an important chapter in that journey. Long before returning as a touring artist, lullaboy first visited the country through mission work as a young worship leader. Those early experiences—and the warmth he received from Filipino communities—left a lasting impression.

“I remember telling myself that one day I would come back here as an artist,” he said. “Then last year, I finally did my first concert in Manila, and I was blown away by how much warmth there was from the people. They sing really loud, they have beautiful voices. I’ve been waiting for this moment. I think the Lullafam knows how much I love the Philippines.”

Now, Hotels & Heartbreaks brings lullaboy back to Manila on July 17 as part of his biggest Asia tour to date, with stops in Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore. Designed as an immersive live production, the show combines music, storytelling, and interactive moments, inviting fans to leave behind their emotional baggage before “checking out” with a renewed sense of hope.

For first-time listeners, lullaboy recommends beginning with “Someone Like You,” followed by “Shortcut to Heaven,” and ending with “Heaven”—a sequence that mirrors the emotional arc at the heart of the album.

Ultimately, that is the message he hopes audiences will take home.

“Heartbreak isn’t the end,” he said. “It’s something we all need to go through because it teaches us what truly matters. If I can get through heartbreak, anybody can.”

Pinoy rock legends TEETH announce five-city reunion tour, debut album vinyl release

Fans can relive the music that defined a generation as the band returns to the stage and releases its landmark self-titled debut album on vinyl for the first time.

Filipino alternative rock icons TEETH are celebrating more than three decades of music, friendship, and enduring influence with a five-city reunion tour and the first-ever vinyl release of their landmark self-titled debut album.

Dubbed Year 33: TEETH The Reunion – Legacy Tour, the concert series begins on Aug. 30, 2026, at the Foochow Event Building Hall in Singapore before heading to the Philippines for stops in Manila (Sept. 5), Davao (Sept. 12), Iloilo (Sept. 19), and Cebu (Sept. 26).

Tickets for the Singapore leg are now available via https://teeth-reunion-sg2026.peatix.com.

Coinciding with the tour, TEETH will release their acclaimed self-titled debut album on vinyl for the first time. Widely regarded as one of the defining records of the 1990s Pinoy rock movement, the album introduced a generation of listeners to enduring anthems such as “Laklak” and “Prinsesa,” songs that helped shape the sound and identity of Filipino alternative rock.

The album went on to receive Double Platinum certification from the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI), selling more than 80,000 copies.

The forthcoming vinyl edition has been newly remastered by acclaimed mastering engineer Shinji Tanaka and will be released in a strictly limited run of 500 standard black vinyl copies. Produced by Backspacer Records, the LP also features newly commissioned artwork by award-winning visual artist Nix Puno, whose hand-painted interpretation pays tribute to the album’s original cover while offering a contemporary perspective.

Fans attending the Philippine shows may also avail themselves of the exclusive 33rd Anniversary Add-On Package, which includes the limited-edition, band-signed anniversary vinyl, a commemorative event shirt, trucker cap, exclusive sticker pack, and signed event poster.

The package also grants access to premium fan experiences, including a meet-and-greet session, an exclusive listening party, soundcheck access, and a group photo opportunity with the band.

Formed in 1993, TEETH emerged as one of the defining acts of the Philippine alternative rock explosion of the 1990s. The band is composed of original members Glenn Jacinto (vocals), Jerome Velasco (guitars), Pedz Narvaja (bass), Mike Dizon (drums), and Dok Sergio (guitars), who previously served as the band’s bassist.

Known for blending alternative rock, grunge, and later shoegaze influences—most notably on their third studio album, I Was A Teenage Tree—TEETH built a lasting legacy through melodic songwriting, raw musicianship, and a distinctive sound that continues to resonate across generations. Throughout their career, the band earned numerous accolades, including three NU Rock Awards and two MTV Pilipinas Award nominations.

Year 33: TEETH The Reunion – Legacy Tour is presented by BLKSHPMNL Lifestyle & Entertainment Management Inc. (BLACKSHEEP MANILA) and S32 Productions (Singapore). Ticketing details for the Philippine leg of the tour will be announced soon.
