September 2013 marks Shane Filan’s fifth time in Manila.
The first four visits were during his years as the lead vocalist of Westlife, the boy band that unquestionably took Manila by storm. At the height of Westlife’s fame in the early 2000s, the Irish lads had experienced a reception that was equivalent to mania every time. Fans would scream at their faces, cry at their mere presence and act insane to grab their attention.
His fifth and latest visit here, however, was very different from others. This time, for the first time ever, Shane Filan came alone. Although the mania has slightly toned down, he still managed to get as much love and devotion from his fans.
After the band’s decision to split was announced following their Gravity World Tour in 2011, Shane Filan had resolved to pursue a career as a solo artist. It was only in 2013 that he put his resolution to reality. During the last week of August, his four-track EP titled “Everything to Me” was released. Shortly after, he started promoting his music by launching worldwide tour.

Two years had passed since Shane Filan had visited Manila. That time, he was still with Westlife, on a world tour to promote their latest album “Gravity”. During their sold-out concert at the Big Dome, they gave their diehard fans a memorable evening. It was bittersweet how it turned out to be their last ever concert together in Manila. A few months after, the band announced their definitive split, breaking the hearts of their Filipino fans. Read Westlife: Still in the center of Gravity
Who knew that this year would mark Shane Filan’s return to Manila? Now pursuing a solo career, he had recently released an EP titled “Everything to Me”. A week ago, he started touring different countries to promote his music. Luckily, the Philippines happened to be one of the first stops across the world.
Yesterday afternoon, he made a public appearance along with a press conference in the middle of Megamall. A number of loyal fans flocked the venue to show their support for the former lead vocalist of Westlife. As if they suddenly returned to their teenage selves, the fans screamed at the sight of their idol.

On the evening of April 6, Franco Reyes made the Music Museum the home of positive vibes, good vibrations and great music as he owned its stage to mark his first major solo concert. With his laidback aura, his magnetic charisma and his striking musical talent, he held the attention and fervor of the jam-packed venue of Suspitsados and concert enthusiasts.
Formerly known as a superband during his debut in 2009, Franco is now making his own way as a solo artist. Supporting him onstage are Paul Cañada on guitars, Dave Delfin on bass, Victor Guison on drums who are all more than capable in handling their instruments and performing live. With the very recent release of his second album titled “Soul Adventurer”, he has proven that there’s still so much that he can offer the Filipino music scene. There’s still a lot we have yet to see and hear, and Franco is just about to get started. He proved that all too well that evening.
“Hey, you guys, stand up, man!” he encouraged the crowd in good humor. “This is a rock concert. You have plenty of time to sit down.” Astoundingly, Franco is as, if not more, positive spirited in person as he sounds in his songs. Just like his songs, he emanated “positive vibes” and “good vibrations” with his words and his beaming smile. All throughout the concert, he was overflowing with gratitude to the attendees and the fans that he kept thanking them almost after every song. He even went on to say, “thank you for keeping OPM alive.” (more…)

LIFEHOUSE AT ITS CREATIVE PEAK, DELIVERS NEW ALBUM “ALMERIA”
Million-selling recording and live act Lifehouse has gotten back to its roots mindset-wise which significantly helped produced its latest album touted by both band insiders and tough crack critics as their “most daring and provocative release to date.”
“Almeria,” the name of the group’s sixth album, was crafted without the distractions usually brought by in-between touring and personal struggles that cuff the workflow of successful talents. The band worked with producers and co-writers Jude Cole and Jacob Kasher and A-list performers Peter Frampton and Natasha Bedingfield.
“It’s almost like we were reverting back to being teenagers in our parents’ garages, which felt really good,” frontman Jason Wade is quoted as saying. “We thought we were making this cool, 70s kind. We knew we had to shake things up creatively and go back to the drawing board, try something new.”
