    Linkin Park From Zero

The global music scene just got its much-needed boost as Linkin Park released their new album From Zero on November 15. The 11-track album, which includes the #1 singles “The Emptiness Machine” and “Heavy is the Crown”, goes down to the roots of Linkin Park’s nu-metal origins fused with a rejuvenated take on electronic rock and progressive pop-esque threads, making it one of the most compelling rock albums released in recent time.

To say that it is one of the most anticipated albums in 2024 is an understatement. LP is, after all, one of the biggest and most influential rock bands of the 21st century. Chester Bennington’s untimely passing in 2017 left a huge void in the music industry and a bigger one in the band’s future. After a lot of push and pull, it took 7 years for the band to reconstruct its pieces, and decide to release new music. Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave “Phoenix” Farrell, Joe Hahn with the addition of Emily Armstrong on vocals and Colin Brittain on drums have now rebuilt Linkin Park with From Zero, and we are grateful for it.

Listening to From Zero for the first time felt like traversing different LP timelines while staying grounded in the present. There was a moment when “Two Faced” felt like a massive shoutback to Hybrid Theory with the pointed guitar riffs and unrelenting turntable scratches. “Cut the Bridge” harkens back to “Bleed It Out” with the rhythmic rap, propelled by sharp drum beats that lead to an anthemic chorus. The League of Legends Worlds 2024 soundtrack “Heavy is the Crown” was reminiscent of Meteora’s “Faint”, mashed with Minute to Midnight’s “Given Up”. Of course, the comeback track “The Emptiness Machine” felt like a walk between The Hunting Party and Living Things, an easy ear-friendly track for old and new fans alike. From Zero pulled from the intricate working of the old LP sound, with its edges refined and melodies fine-tuned to a more sophisticated body of music.

While a lot of people were skeptical of Emily’s vocal prowess, this album proved that she can stand her own ground proudly. Her vocals carried through the emotionally-charged crooning for “Over Each Other” and “Good Things Go” while also harnessing the rage-filled screaming for “Casualty” and “IGYEIH” (short for “I Gave You Everything I Have”). An interesting upgrade to LP’s repertoire is “Overflow” which builds an atmospherically haunting sound with the reverberating synth and the echoes of the vocals.

With From Zero, we can definitely say that Linkin Park is back! While nothing can ever replace Chester Bennington, the band has successfully managed to carve a new beginning for themselves by integrating the core of LP’s music and reconstructing it to fit the present. More exciting things ahead as Linkin Park is all set to embark on the 2nd leg of their From Zero World Tour in 2025 which includes more than 50 shows all over the globe. Hopefully, a Philippine stop will be included in the future as well!

Special thanks to Warner Music Philippines for inviting us to the Exclusive Listening Party for Linkin Park’s Brand New Album ‘From Zero’ held at 12 Monkeys Music Hall with live performances by Chicosci and Typecast.

Listen to “OVER EACH OTHER” here

October 25th, 2024 – Manila, Philippines – LINKIN PARK – Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave “Phoenix” Farrell, Joe Hahn, Emily Armstrong, and Colin Brittain – reveal an emotionally-charged new single entitled “Over Each Other”. Listen HERE. Watch the Joe Hahn-directed music video HERE.
This time around, the song revolves around a striking, soulful, and soaring solo vocal from Emily Armstrong. Icy keys flicker over a glitchy beat backed by guitar as her voice rings out on the refrain, “All we are is talking over each other.” The cinematic video – directed by Joe Hahn and shot on location in Seoul – follows the intense dramatic arc of a relationship literally about to crash, capturing the turbulent emotional ebb and flow of the track itself.

Linkin Park – “Over Each Other”

“Over Each Other” precedes the much-anticipated arrival of LINKIN PARK’s first album since 2017, ‘FROM ZERO’, on November 15. Pre-save HERE via Warner Records.

“This song is an extra special one for me, because it’s my first solo vocal in LINKIN PARK… I can’t believe I’m saying that!” says Armstrong. “But it’s also such an emotional and relatable song. And then to shoot the video in Korea with Joe, who is so brilliant at what he does, is something I will cherish forever.”

Hahn adds, “It’s been a dream of mine to direct a project in Korea one day – and it finally happened! Emily and I stayed a few extra days after our Seoul show and are so grateful to the cast and crew who helped us out. We really embraced the K-ness of it all, wanting it to feel like a true K-drama. We hope you all love it as much as we do!”

LINKIN PARK ignited this season with “The Emptiness Machine”. It has exploded as the #1 rock song in the country and the biggest rock song of 2024. It made a rapid climb to #1 on both the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay Chart and Alternative Airplay Chart. In total, the band have scored a staggering 13 #1 entries on the latter chart (the second-most in history) with three in the last eighteen months.

Thus far, “The Emptiness Machine” has gathered a quarter-of-a-billion global streams and counting. Their latest drop of “Heavy Is The Crown” last month is following fast in the same path, eclipsing 270 million streams and 55 million YouTube views.

    Chester Bennington

After almost a decade of waiting, Linkin Park finally came back to Manila to conquer the Arena wherein thousands and thousands of manic LP fans screamed, jumped and rocked their souls with the band. Considered as one of the highlights of the Philippine concert scene this year, the show proved to be a riotous success as the Arena burst with multitudes of people from the moshpit up to the upper boxes. Without a shadow of doubt, the evening turned out to be one of the most unforgettable concerts that Manila had ever experienced.

Local band Urbandub was both thrilled and honored to open for LP. The Cebuano band performed “Soul Searching”, “The Fight Is Over” along with tracks off their new album “Esoteric”. Their last song for their set was “First of Summer” which had the excited crowd more psyched up.
