Krishnah Gravidez Named Miss World Asia, Releases Debut Single “Rainbow”!

Krishnah Gravidez may not have won the 2025 Miss World title and crown but she did not go home empty-handed. Not only did she make it to the top 8 of the whole beauty pageant, she was also named Miss World Asia, making her fellow Filipinos proud.

Proving that she is a multi-talented woman, Krishnah actually just released her debut single “Rainbow” — the day before the Miss World pageant. Released under Universal Records, it is a fresh take on the popular and memorable South Border original. Featuring the 24-year-old’s soothing vocals, it is slightly slower and more laidback, giving the song a brand new vibe.

During the pageant, when Krishnah advanced to the top 5 of Miss World Asia and Oceania, a clip was shown where she shared that apart from being a civil engineer, it is also her dream to be a professional singer. With the release of her first-ever single, she is definitely on the right track, and we are excited for what else Krishnah will accomplish not just in the world of pageantry, but also in the music industry.

“Rainbow” by Krishnah Gravidez is now available on all major streaming platforms, with a lyric video available on the YouTube channel of Universal Records.

  • Barbie Almalbis ignites a loving mosh pit in “Platonic” music video

Barbie Almalbis ignites a loving mosh pit in “Platonic” music video

The visuals capture the chaos, clarity, and catharsis of true friendship in motion.

Filipino alt-rock icon Barbie Almalbis has dropped the official music video for “Platonic,” a standout track from her critically acclaimed fifth studio album, Not That Girl. Helmed by long-time creative partner and award-winning photographer Nina Sandejas, the video features a gritty glimpse into a night of sweat and sound at Mow’s—an underground music venue in Quezon City.

    Barbie Almalbis

Set against the backdrop of Barbie’s recent performance at the iconic gig space, the video unravels a documentary-style montage of mosh pits, dance breaks, and crowd surfing—fueled not by angst, but by the deep joy of shared, meaningful experience in music. “I wanna see a pit… lovingly,” Barbie calls out before launching into the two-minute burst of cathartic energy that is “Platonic.”

“This song is about loving people fiercely, unconditionally, generously, vulnerably, in a non-romantic context,” shares Almalbis. “Platonic love has been so enriching in my life, and I’ve really felt much less alone because I have deep friendships to count on or because I can be a friend to someone. I think the world would be less lonely if more people would embrace its joys.”

The idea for the music video came to Sandejas after attending a series of metal shows and noticing the primal yet euphoric energy in the mosh pit. “When I saw Barbie was playing Mow’s, it hit me; we have to document this,” says Sandejas. “Barbie starting a riot? That’s exciting. But of course, it had to be done with love. That’s what makes this different.”

The end result is a raw, kinetic visual experience: a time capsule of the night where friendships collide in the most visceral way. “It was a rush,” adds Sandejas. “We stitched together this fast, chaotic blur of sweat and joy. My favorite moment? That loving pit Barbie asked for. She knew exactly how wild it would get and how to ground it in something beautiful.”

Produced by Nick Lazaro, “Platonic” is Barbie’s first foray into heavier territory. What began as a quiet acoustic sketch quickly transformed into a thunderous anthem, thanks to Lazaro’s instrumentation and contributions from Eclectic Kiss artists Faye Yu, Marika Laciste, Marj Roxas, and Pikoy on gang vocals. “I just said, Nick, I have something—can you make it metal?,” Barbie laughs. “He absolutely did.”

The inspiration for “Platonic” draws from C.S. Lewis’s The Four Loves, specifically his writing on friendship as a rate but vital form of love. In “Platonic,” Barbie’s lyrics explore this idea with honesty and edge, pushed into sonic overdrive through a surprising and exhilarating metal turn.

  • SUYEN and Sandwich collaborate on a fresh new song

SUYEN and Sandwich collaborate on a fresh new song

What began as an idea has become a reality. This collaboration proves that dreams can come true.

Before announcing the collaboration, SUYEN, a solo indie artist signed to filtered music, shared her desire to work with other artists after releasing her self-titled debut EP, “Suyen Imnida.” In several interviews, she mentioned that one of her dream collaborations would be with the renowned OPM rock band Sandwich, which she has loved since childhood. With their record labels, PolyEast Records and Filtered Music, a collaboration seemed possible.

    Indeed, they made it happen.

On May 9th, SUYEN officially announced on her Instagram that she and Sandwich will release a song together titled “Basura,” which is now available on all music platforms.

Everyone wants to be heard and acknowledged. With the rise of social media, “keyboard warriors” have emerged—people who readily share their opinions, both positive and negative. The song “Basura” addresses this social issue, focusing on internet rumor- mongering and bullying. It highlights how these often consist of empty and baseless comments about individuals and social topics.

“There are children, partners, families, friends and careers that get caught in the crossfire.” Raymund Marasigan, vocalist of Sandwich, claims. In addition, he says that the goal of the song is to encourage people to have empathy towards others.

Collaborating on the track was a rewarding experience for both artists, as they learned a great deal from one another throughout the process. SUYEN mentioned that it was a refreshing change of pace to witness another person’s approach to songwriting, especially since she usually works independently on her projects.

Sandwich also found the experience invigorating, as it encouraged them to be more relaxed and experimental with melody-making. The fusion of their styles felt seamless, resulting in a sound that is both unique and familiar—one that still reflects their identities.

  • Ed Sheeran announces new single ‘Sapphire’ released on 5th June 2025!

Ed Sheeran announces new single ‘Sapphire’ released on 5th June 2025!

Ed Sheeran released his new single, “Sapphire

Following the hedonistic, technicolor pop of “Azizam” and the classic, heartfelt nostalgia of “Old Phone”, Sheeran returns with Sapphire—a dazzling anthem of connection and unbridled joy. Radiating with vibrant pop energy and rich cross-cultural influences, the track is poised to make its mark on summer ‘25.

Sheeran’sSapphire is a luminous celebration of love that transcends boundaries. Featuring captivating vocals, intricate South-Asian percussion, backing vocals and sitar by legendary Indian artist Arijit Singh, the song creates a unique tapestry that speaks to the universal language of love. Fans are taken on a sonic journey both intimate and expansive, brought to life by the production talents of Ilya Salmanzadeh, Johnny McDaid, and Savan Kotecha

Ed Sheeran says “Sapphire was the first song I finished for Play that made me know where the album was heading. It’s why I finished the recording process in Goa surrounded by some of the best musicians in India. It was an incredible creative process. I shot the music video with Liam and Nic across my India tour earlier this year, we wanted to showcase the beauty and breadth of the country and its culture. The final jigsaw piece for me was getting Arijit on the record. It was a journey to get there and such an amazing day of music and family. Me and him have done a full Punjabi version of the song that will come out in the next few weeks, which has a lot more of him on it. This is the album version of the song, and my favourite song on the album. Hope you guys love it. x

The video for “Sapphire” has been directed by Liam Pethick, features Arijit Singh and a cameo from iconic actor Shah Rukh Khan. It begins with Ed performing the song at dawn on a rooftop, then transitions to a vibrant journey across various locations. Ed’s travels take him from the rooftop to serene beaches, riversides, bustling markets, local kitchens and Bollywood backlots. Highlights include meeting up with Arijit for a studio session and motorcycle ride around his hometown, plus a visit to the A.R. Rahman music school, where he performs with local musicians.

Ed Sheeran releases his new album ‘Play’ on 12th September 2025. (Pre-order here) After closing the chapter on his Mathematics series, Ed Sheeran is finally back and stepping boldly into a fresh new phase for 2025.   An artist known for constantly evolving, Sheeran’s latest album, ‘Play’ finds him exploring new musical ground through collaboration with producers and musicians from around the world, as well as diving deeper into the timeless sounds and themes that have made him one of the world’s best-loved pop artists. Inspired in part by his exposure to Indian and Persian musical cultures—and their surprising connections to the Irish folk tradition he grew up with, through shared scales, rhythms, and melodies—he explored this borderless musical language, giving the album its distinctive, fresh edge.  On more familiar ground, Sheeran also reminds us why he remains the most influential singer-songwriter of his generation, delivering a series of stunning ballads and acoustic-driven songs. The result is a collection that plays with both the familiar and the new, creating a bold, pop-driven sound that only Ed Sheeran could deliver — a vibrant showcase of his artistry that feels both exciting and transformative, and promises to be one of the defining albums of the year.

Ed Sheeran has also announced three live shows at Portman Road, Ipswich which Sold-Out immediately. These kick off on Friday, July 11th, featuring special guests Myles Smith and Tori Kelly;  on July 12th the spotlight shifts to Busted and Dylan;  whilst on July 13th it will be James Blunt and Maisie Peters. These are set to take place at Ipswich Town FC’s iconic home ground – Ed being a lifelong supporter of the club, and the official shirt sponsor since 2021.  The three night stint will mark Ed’s first UK headline shows since 2023, and will include debut performances of tracks from ‘Play’ alongside fan favourites.  £1 from every ticket sold on these shows has been donated to the newly launched Live Trust, a new funding initiative from LIVE that will offer much needed financial support to those working across live music. The Live Trust will initially support the grassroots music sector that is such a vital part of the music ecosystem – from venues and artists to festivals and promoters.

MAJ determines the best works/artists in a total of 62 categories, including six major categories, out of a total of 3,000 entries/artists by voting by artists and other music professionals. The Grand Ceremony was held on 22 May and was broadcast live on NHK and streamed worldwide on YouTube (excluding some regions).

The total of 62 categories represented at MAJ celebrate a wide variety of music culture. The six main categories are “Best Song”, “Best Album”, “Best Artist”, “Best New Artist”, “Best Asian Song”, and “Top Global Hit from Japan”. In addition, an unprecedented number of other categories have been created over the years, including categories open to general music listeners and awards honouring Japanese music that has received recognition abroad.

This year’s entries, totaling approximately 3,000 songs, are available on Spotify in the form of a “museum” playlist, and playlists for each category, including the six main categories, are available on dHits and other music distribution services. Excluding some songs that are not available on music distribution services.

Fête de la Musique, one of the most anticipated live music events in the country, is back for another year of celebrating all kinds of tunes. This time, Shangri-La Plaza is joining the revelries and supporting the Fête community for the first time ever as it mounts _The Ember Stage_, promising performances that flicker with warmth, intimacy, and artistic fire. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind experience all for free and see the Grand Atrium transform into an urban oasis on June 13 from 5PM to 10PM.

Leading the lineup of young and fresh music for the Fête stage at the Shang is Over October, one of the most prominent pop/alternative rock bands today. Then, there’s Filipino-Nepalese R&B singer-songwriter Jason Dhakal.

With over 564,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, he made his mark in the industry with his soulful, jazz-infused, and groovy renditions of OPM classics.

jikamarie joins the pack with her own brand of R&B-dream pop. With her undeniable talent, she was also tapped to open for Coldplay at their Philippine Arena concert in January 2024. Singer-songwriter and The Voice Kids alum Shanne Dandan is dedicated to blending contemporary music with that “Manila” sound.

Known for creating upbeat music and youthful melodies, Any Name’s Okay is a beloved alternative pop group. The quintet released its latest single _how the heart breaks_ last May, a ballad that explored a new, darker side of the band. Mixing city pop and OPM, ALYSON is surely a must-watch. Always in their suit and tie, the group combines fresh tunes and nostalgic vibes.

Rounding out Shang’s Fête stage is multi-awarded DJ, producer, and entrepreneur HOEST who’s expected to share a blend of house, techno, and electronic music to energize the crowd.

Un Monde: A World of Music, A Month of Celebration for FetePH2025!

MANILA, Philippines – May 26, 2025 – Fête de la Musique Philippines joins the global celebration of music this June, with the theme “Un Monde” or One World, emphasizing music’s incredible power to unite diverse cultures and bridge the Philippines to the world.

For over three decades, Fête de la Musique Philippines, presented by Alliance Française de Manille alongside its partners, has been a cornerstone of the Philippine music calendar, offering free live music performances across various stages and genres. The “UN MONDE” theme for 2025 highlights the festival’s commitment to fostering international camaraderie and understanding through music.

FêtePH2025 promises a month-long celebration of music with events scheduled throughout the month of June.

The highly anticipated FêtePH2025 Main Stage will once again be the central highlight, taking place on June 21, at Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati City. This year’s Main Stage presents a mix of established headliners and exciting new talents, including Brigada, Janine, Brass Pas Pas Pas Pas feat. Leanne & Naara, James Reid, The Ridleys, and Tarsius x Ena Mori. It will also feature off-stage performances by Filipino musicians Frank Ely and Zsaris, Bolivian Pop artist Bling Bling Papaya, and Singapore-based Pinoy queer artist Marian Carmel. More surprise headliners will be announced soon.

Further solidifying the “Un Monde” theme, FêtePH2025 is proud to welcome international musicians Ito Kashitaro from Japan and Emile Londonien from France, both set to perform at the FetePH2025 Main Stage.

Beyond the Main Stage, Fête de la Musique Philippines will feature a series of satellite events throughout the month of June, ensuring that the celebration of music reaches every corner of the metro and beyond.

FetePH2025 kicks off with a pool party on June 1 at the Fairmont Hotel in Makati City, featuring beats by DJs Francie Gee, Marco Pedro, and Eva Smalls.

Harnessing the healing power of music, FetePH2025 brings back its advocacy “Music Heals” with a sound healing festival led by Aruga Collective on June 8. Throughout the afternoon, “Music Heals” will host vendors, facilitators, and a series of workshops designed to educate and engage participants about the power of sound healing, incense appreciation, and cacao ceremony, and an eclectic variety of holistic healing modalities.

Another exciting FetePH2025 event that Fete-goers can look forward to is the Shangri-La Plaza Stage on June 13. This stage promises an intimate yet captivating musical experience, featuring a vibrant showcase of young energy and Gen Z magic. The lineup of artists will be announced soon.

The musical celebrations continue well beyond the main events. Following the FêtePH25 Main Stage, the fete-stivities will spread across Makati City with numerous Pocket Stages on June 27 as part of the Barangay Poblacion fiesta. As in previous years, the pocket stages will offer a more localized and intimate musical experience in various venues with all kinds of music genres. There will also be Pocket Stages outside Metro Manila on June 28.

The grand musical journey doesn’t stop there. FetePH2025 brings the spirit of “Un Monde” to communities nationwide on June 28 with 29 Destination Stages and 90 events all over the country. Spanning from Northern Luzon, across the Visayas, to Southern Mindanao, this truly makes Fête de la Musique a country-wide celebration.

Complementing these musical experiences, FetePH2025 partnered with SONIK Philippines to present Sonik Soiree, which will highlight the journey of Filipino talent expanding into global markets, the impact of music technology, and the growing role of the creative economy in shaping the future of music.

To lead the Sonik Soiree, FetePH2025 invited music marketing and business resource speakers, including Product Marketing, Business Development, and Brand Strategy lead at PLAYZER Francois Planquette, Live Promotions Bkk Managing Director Polo Ruesz, and CEO and Co-Founder of CtrI+Reach (by Y2M) Clémentin Diard.

“We are incredibly excited to bring ‘UN MONDE’ to life for our 31st Fête de la Musique celebration,” says Xavier Leroux, Executive Director of Alliance Francaise de Manille. “Music has an unparalleled ability to transcend borders and connect people. This year, we aim to showcase how Filipino music resonates globally, truly making us all ‘One World’ through melody and rhythm.”
