HORI7ON will hold special performances as they visit around 20 schools in South Korea!
On the 23rd of last month, HORI7ON began the Serendipity Stage project at Geunmyeong Middle-High School. As part of a unique initiative called Serendipity Stage, performers from MLD Entertainment visit schools to give shows. HORI7ON made their performance at Saegeuroo Fashion Design High School on November 13 and their previous performance at Geunmyeong Middle High School in October public via their official social media profiles.
In front of almost a thousand students, HORI7ON performed six songs, including “SIX7EEN,” during their debut performance on the Serendipity Stage. In addition, the boy group performed a cover of TXT’s “Back For More” and hosted special events where students gave them advice on how to close positions and get the stage heated.
As they prepared for the performances, HORI7ON asked for support, stating that they “plan to continue the performances to show support for the students who are tired from their studies.” MLD Entertainment also disclosed that “there are more prizes and various events prepared for students in the Serendipity Stage in the future.”
In addition to their activities in South Korea, Vinci, Kim, Kyler, Reyster, Winston, Jeromy, and Marcus will also take part in the highly-awaited 2023 Asia Artist Awards on December 14, 2023, at the Philippine Arena.
The debut date for the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix has been set for February 22nd, 2024. On Thursday, at its Geeked Week presentation, the streaming service announced the premiere date and unveiled the first teaser trailer for the show.
There have already been some sneak peeks of the show that have been released, including costumed shots of the main cast as well as the characters from Fire Nation. The live-action adaptation of Avatar will continue to receive new developments after its official release date was just announced.
The live-action series will be reimagined with eight episodes, each lasting an hour long according to Netflix.

The award-winning singer-songwriter finds herself reflecting on misguided actions based on emotions.
Multi-awarded singer-songwriter Barbie Almalbis wraps up her tremendous year in music with the release of โWicked Heart,โ her new single under 12 Stone Records and Sony Music Entertainment.
Barbieโs new song reflects on the repercussions of making rash decisions out of emotion. According to Barbie, โWicked Heartโ also presents the rhetoric that while our desires and emotions are a beautiful part of who we are and how we experience life, there must be something โtruerโ than the heart.

The Dahilan artist recalls a personal experience in the past involving a misguided action that she regretted doing.
โI was thinking about how following your heart can lead to trouble sometimes,โ the Filipino alt-rock icon explains. โI want to follow my heart, but itโs always changing its mind. Itโs definitely something Iโve personally been through, but it also takes inspiration from the verse in Jeremiah 17:9: The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked: who can know it?โ
Written and produced by Barbie Almalbis herself, with Jorel Corpus and Jett Galindo on mixing and mastering duties, respectively, โWicked Heartโ hits the high mark with its refreshing mix of โ80s influences and pastel synths. Delivering a whopper of a pop anthem, Barbie initially penned the track on a โguitaleleโ to harness a different dimension and vibe.
Barbie reveals, โWriting on a new, different instrument makes the process feel exciting and fresh sometimes. As the song progressed, I realized I didnโt hear much guitar in it, so I asked my bandmate Nikko Rivera to fill the whole thing with keys and synth parts, and he sent me like 10 layers of things. I just added a little bit of guitar later on, so that Iโll have something to do when we play it live. Karel played bass on it, and Jonard played the drums.โ
Barbie Almalbis recently celebrated her 25th year in the music scene with a concert chronicling her career as one of the most influential figures in Pinoy alternative rock. She also recently released her debut solo record, Parade, on vinyl for the first time. To date, Almalbis is working on new songs and collaborations for future releases.
โWicked Heartโ is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide.
Joey G., short for Joey Generoso, held his solo concert titled Side Ko Langโฆ at the New Frontier Theater on November 5.
Best known as the frontman of the premiere OPM band Side A during the 90s up to his departure in 2015, Joey G. took the Filipino crowd on an exceptional trip to the 80s and 90s with an exceptional live concert presented by Random Minds.
Indie pop band Project: Romeo from Cavite was the opening act for the evening. They performed covers of โPanalanginโ by Apo Hiking Society, โBurnoutโ by Sugarfree, and their original song โTugonโ.
Wearing a stylish set of all-black jackets and jeans, matched with a pair of shades, Joey G. made his appearance to the crowd. Backed by a magnificent live band, composed of Tat Suzara, Rickson Ruiz, Mark Decena, Donna Moreno, Roji Soriano, and Music Director Bobby Velasco, the concert was an enjoyable treat for fans.
They played medleys of the top hits from the 80s straight up to the 90s including โI Feel For Youโ by Chaka Khan, โThe Search Is Overโ by Survivorโ, โI Donโt Want to Miss a Thingโ by Aerosmith, โFootlooseโ by Kenny Loggins.
Side Ko Langโฆ might have sounded a tad bit controversial as a title, given the circumstances, but the concert was anything but. As Joey G said, as if alluding to his departure from the band, โWala akong side. If anything, Iโm on everyoneโs sideโ. The concert was meant to show his different strengths. More than anything, it was a celebration of his enduring career in music, and he made sure the crowd enjoyed every bit of it.
Juris, who admitted she is a big fan of Joey G., graced the stage for a moving duet of โSometimes Love Just Ainโt Enoughโ. She also performed โDi Lang Ikawโ and โIโll Never Get Over You Getting Over Meโ.
The energy was at an all-time high when he played the classic Side A songs like โTuloy Pa Rinโ, โHold Onโ, โTell Meโ and for the grand finale (which everyone was screaming for), โForevermoreโ.

The walls of the SM Skydome echoed with thunderous applause as the American rock band, Saosin, unleashed a sonic storm, igniting the stage with an unforgettable performance last November 3.
Kicking off the electrifying, full-house eveningโthe first of the two-day concert of Saosin in Manilaโwas the Thai alternative metal band Defying Decay. They roused the crowd, setting the adrenaline to fever pitch and laying the groundwork for an explosive night of rock euphoria.
Amidst an atmosphere crackling with anticipation, Saosin exploded onto the stage, delivering a powerhouse opening with hits like “It’s Far Better to Learn,” “Sleepers,” “Lost Symphonies,” and “Bury Your Head.” Lead vocalist Cove Reber took a moment to express profound gratitude to the Filipino fans, acknowledging their unwavering loyalty over the years. Memories of their last show in Manila in 2010 intertwined with the present, the fans’ voices echoing the passion that bound them together.
Reber’s words resonated through the venue as he delved into the band’s journey, recognizing the evolution shared with their fans over the years, despite the ebb and flow of life.
The night roared on with Saosin’s explosive rendition of Smashing Pumpkins’ “Zero” and their own hits like “I Can Tell,” “7 Years,” and “Voices.” Yet, it was their song “You’re Not Alone” that shook the very foundations of the arena, ending the evening in a triumphant crescendo.
SAOSIN LIVE IN MANILA was presented by PULP Live World. Special thanks to PULP Live World for the invitation to the show.

The loudest screams last October 31 or Halloween night are not in horror houses nor in theaters for a horror movie, nor any Halloween Party but itโs on SM North Edsaโs Skydome with Silverstein as they returned to the Philippines after 3 years!
The Canadian rock band from Burlington Ontario, which was a part of the emergence of the pool of rock and emo music of the early 2000s, shook Manila again, highlighting their hits of 20 years of music in one night.
Band members Josh Bradford, Paul Koehler, Shane Told, Billy Hamilton, and Paul Marc Rousseau, brought the house down as it clashed again with the โemo capital of Southeast Asiaโ, proving again that this was never a phase with us, as mosh pits, wall of Death and non-stop singing with the band blanketed the night.
Our Heroine
Silverstein did not hold back in being loud that night as they matched the energy of their fans who waited for them to come back. The setlist was carefully curated and connected with the rock/emo enthusiasts, with screamo attached that just mutes all senses you get when you listen to it.
โWe told you it wouldnโt take us 10 years to come back!โ vocalist Shane Told told the crowd during one of the many many pauses they had that night to interact with the fans. They recalled that the last time they were in the country while singing on stage was during the deadly eruption of Taal Volcano last January 2020. For safety, all flights going in and out of the country were barred and they remained in the country longer than anticipated. โIt could have been worse but we f*cking love it. You guys were the kindest, and sweetest people ever so thank you for having us back here, and thanks for being with us tonight!โ
The crowd was on the edge throughout the evening and wanted to set loose with the band as they kept on promising that there would be the opportunity to let it go and unleash everything with a Wall of Death. A wall of death is a type of moshing in which the audience splits into two parts on either side of the venue, before each side runs towards the other, crashing the two sides together. We donโt see this that often in our country as safety was always a big thing in concerts here, sometimes even more than necessary but as the night went deeper, the songs got wilder, and more songs were sung with all the lyrics by the crowd. It was never surprising to see the Filipino crowd sing in perfect lyrics with the artists, even shocking the band with how perfect and in sync they were all throughout the evening. Like we swallowed the whole music catalog of Silverstein for breakfast like it wasnโt decades worth of music.
It was the pandemic that stopped the band from coming back here sooner as all artists have, and the ensemble did not fail to thank the Filipino fans for their support during the worldwide lockdown. โBy the way, thank you so much for all the love you gave us during the pandemicโฆ all the live streaming we didโฆ we heard you, we saw you, we video called some of you, itโs a beautiful thing to know, we had that love. When we were sitting at home, with nothing else to do, our show here in Manila was the last thing we were thinking!โ
The band was having so much fun on stage that they opened drinks and called to the crowd, โTagay!?โ Cheers indeed as itโs obvious that the Philippine bug got this band good, who even asked if anyone had dried mangoes in their pockets while remembering that those were the tastiest snacks they had in the Philippines!
Misery Made Us
โAll the hardships in life, all across the worldโฆ we all found something together and that is music,โ Shane called to the crowd. โThat is the scene, that is this community. So for us to be here, halfway across the world and everyone in this room who is smiling right now is what itโs all about.โ
A bit of a hiccup with the sound system stopped the show for a bit but the band took the opportunity to talk to the crowd instead, and they expressed that they never took any of the moments they had in the music industry for granted, pointing out theyโve been doing this for 22 years already.
Two decades and more in the music scene and all the tours theyโve done all across the world and the Filipino fans still reigned impressive as Shane stopped singing during a part of one of the most known songs, โMy Heroineโ and let the crowd sing. A frenzied, โOh my god!โ from Shane and the rest of the bandโs awe that a crowd didnโt need any backing from the vocalists for the lyrics was truly a spectacle. The most awaited mosh pit happened during โSmile in Your Sleepโ and it was nothing but a respectful chaos. Everyone pushed and pulled but after the song ended, the camaraderie and respect for each other showed, clapped each otherโs backs, and threw high fives to each other who joined in the chaos.
The Wall of Death was orchestrated by Shane Told himself and the crowd was more than ready to clash as the final song, โThe Altar/Maryโ took over, as itโs the final moment to let go of everything. Witnessing a display of what Silversteinโs music can do to the crowd with its powerful finish, you will see again that rock/emo was never just a phase and all it needs is a reminder that it is part of who we are as the sad generation that coped with music and healed together in the trauma bond we all shared during the 2000s.
We will always be the emo kids, and artists like Silverstein are there to remind us that we all made it to this day and all it took for us to cope were sad songs, eyeliners, tight band t-shirts, fists in the air, and long bangs. Stitches with hearts and angst music anyone? We know youโre up for that. Long live the emo kids.

The sensual track empowers women to be confident about themselves.
Filipino R&B sensation Denise Julia returns with an upbeat banger that encourages young women to embrace their sexuality and feel confident about themselves. On โB.A.D.,โ the rising phenom finds inspiration in writing an empowering track with delicate, pulsing rhythms and sensual undertones.
โThe inspiration for the lyrics came about spontaneously,โ shares the chart-topping siren. โI was freestyling on some beats when I came across a beat from an overseas producer based in Nigeria. We had collaborated on previous tracks, and this particular beat had a distinct R&B vibe I was searching for, and it was incredibly catchy.โ
A departure from her usual style, Denise Juliaโs โB.A.D.โ reveals a significant step forward in terms of songwriting and production. The viral hitmaker takes pride in how the song showcases a more assured version of herself, not afraid to flesh out sprawling ideas and tackle more mature, out-of-the-box themes.
โI want B.A.D. to be the song you play when you want to feel confident, pretty, and to embrace your sexuality,โ she explains. โIt aligns with my goal of creating music that makes people feel beautiful and empowered, stemming from my past experiences of feeling out of place due to my appearance.โ
โB.A.D.โ is produced by constant collaborator JOEL from Nigeria, who has worked with the promising newcomer on her previous song โbum 2 me.โ According to Denise Julia, JOEL has a knack for delivering edgy and sultry R&B music that embodies everything unassumingly cool about the genre.
Co-producers Duane, J. Greg, and Steelo came in to provide the final touches to the production, resulting in an explosive earworm with the past and present becoming more seamlessly intertwined.
The song also features rapper P-Lo, whose style and flow complement Juliaโs incredible vocal chops. The โNVMDโ songstress adds, โMy manager, John Vincent Salcedo, knew him and reached out, and he sent over a verse. We collaborated on refining the final version, and he delivered an excellent, catchy verse that fits the song perfectly.โ
Denise Juliaโs new single serves as a precursor to some music-related plans in the pipeline. According to the R&B/soul newcomer, she is set to release a mini album soon, which will give a taste of whatโs to come with her full-length album.
โAdditionally, I have numerous shows lined up for this year,โ the young songstress shares. โAfter taking a break to focus on the music, I’m thrilled to be back on the road and can’t wait to share the music with my fans. This mini album and the upcoming full-length album will be filled with pure R&B goodness.โ
Denise Juliaโs โB.A.D.โ is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment. Special thanks to Denise Julia’s manager, John Vincent Salcedo, and Carissa King, the creative director for all visuals assigned to the project.
The singer-songwriter/producer reflects on the unrealistic expectations about relationships in this new bedroom bop.
After gaining traction with his official debut track โLDR,โ whose viral activity on TikTok fueled its popularity in Southeast Asia big time, Filipino bedroom pop artist Shoti wastes no time in releasing another slowcore bop that shows another emotional side.
His new single โwaiting 4 u (delulu)โ serves as a commentary for those individuals who find themselves in relationships without clear labels. Drawing from acoustic instrumentation with laid-back dreaminess, he delivers a candid remark about the state of young love in the time of Discord and digital nativity.
The breakout star provides an insightful observation about the trend prevalent among youngsters these days. โThey share a deep connection and spend a lot of time together, yet they haven’t established official boyfriend-girlfriend status,โ he shares. โIn today’s generation, I’ve observed that many people, particularly from Gen Z, tend to have unrealistic expectations about relationships that may not align with reality. They yearn for a type of relationship that may not actually exist.โ
To make things more special, Shoti penned the track in English and Cebuano, reflecting the beautiful nuances of his branding through a no-filter lens. He adds, โI compose songs spontaneously, and the Cebuano elements in my music flow naturally. I cherish its uniqueness, setting my songs apart. In the future, I plan to incorporate Filipino/Tagalog to enrich my musical expressions further.โ
He also self-produced the track in the comfort of his own bedroom, doing everything on his own terms as far as creative direction is concerned. After completing the process, Shoti asks for valuable feedback from his mom and friends, who, in return, help him polish his work from the perspective of an outsider. โIโve always enjoyed the process of creating, writing, and recording my own songs at my own pace and space,โ says the Cebu-based artist. โI take the art form seriously, and I take pride in the fact that it comes from a place of vulnerability and rawness.โ
โwaiting 4 u (delulu)โ is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.
