Cross-border collaboration celebrates confidence, individuality, and the enduring influence of gyaru culture
Japanese pop artist, model, and television personality YUKIPOYO has officially released her latest single, “Te-Te Gyaru,” on major streaming platforms worldwide, with a Tagalog remix featuring fast-rising Filipino rapper Zae set for release soon.
The collaboration marks a cultural exchange between Japan’s evolving pop scene and the Philippines’ thriving hip-hop movement, blending YUKIPOYO’s bold aesthetic with Zae’s distinctive rap style in a reimagined version of the track.
Zae has emerged as one of the Philippines’ most promising hip-hop artists, amassing more than 580,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Her collaboration with acclaimed rapper Hev Abi on “SUBOMOTO REMIX” earned a nomination for Hip-Hop Song of the Year at the inaugural Filipino Music Awards in 2025, further cementing her place among the country’s new generation of rap talents.
YUKIPOYO and Zae are currently in Manila filming the official music video for “Te-Te Gyaru (feat. Zae) [Tagalog Ver.],” which will premiere alongside the remix.
Produced by Tokyo-based hitmaker XLII, whose credits include MINMI, Yayoi Daimon, Watson, Akko Gorilla, and Reichi, “Te-Te Gyaru” fuses energetic club production with unconventional sonic textures, driving percussion, and YUKIPOYO’s commanding rap delivery.
The track serves as both a celebration of confidence and a tribute to the legacy of gyaru culture, with YUKIPOYO embracing her identity as a fashion-forward trendsetter while showcasing her versatility as a performer unafraid to push creative boundaries through music and style.
Momentum for the release has continued to build online. Preview clips have amassed a combined 4 million views on TikTok and 1.52 million views on Instagram, while promotional content on X quickly garnered more than 92,000 likes, reflecting growing global interest in both YUKIPOYO and the continued evolution of gyaru culture during Japan’s Reiwa era.
