  • Ebe Dancel to stage repeat of “Sa Wakas: 20th Anniversary” Concert

Ebe Dancel to stage repeat of “Sa Wakas: 20th Anniversary” Concert

The award-winning singer-songwriter Ebe Dancel will be joined by ex-Sugarfree drummer Mitch Singson to honor the album’s lasting impact on the Philippine music scene!

Due to insistent public demand, Filipino singer-songwriter Ebe Dancel stages a repeat of Sa Wakas: 20th Anniversary Celebration, happening on March 31, 2023 (Friday), from 6 p.m. onwards at 123 Block, Mandala Park.

Celebrating the enduring legacy of Sugarfree’s iconic debut album, Sa Wakas The Repeat: 20th Anniversary Celebration will feature a longer, full-length set by Ebe Dancel and drummer Mitch Singson, as well as guest performances and surprises.

Presented by GNN Entertainment Productions and Backspacer Records, in partnership with 123 Block and Balcony Entertainment, the headline show will accommodate more people in the venue as requested by fans who were not able to attend the first one, which sold out in less than a day.

Part of the earnings will be donated to Parokya Ni Edgar guitarist Gab Chee Kee’s hospital and medical expenses. Sa Wakas: official merch is also available via Backspacer Records’ official website, and will also be sold at the venue.

Sugarfree’s Sa Wakas, which came out in 2003, took confessional songwriting to a new level with anthems that reveal stories and experiences that are too embarrassingly painful to talk about in public. Critically acclaimed when it first came out in the early 2000s, the influential album eventually inspired a huge following and prompted a fan to write/produce an award-winning rock musical centered on its narrative.

Tickets to Sa Wakas The Repeat: 20th Anniversary Celebration are available for purchase starting March 13 (Monday) at 6 p.m. via bit.ly/sawakas20.

    Ticket Packages Available:

    • Regular Admissions (P1,500) – entrance to the event grounds
    • VIP (P2,200) – entrance to the event grounds, plus meet and greet with Ebe Dancel before the show, and a signed event poster.
    • VIP + Vinyl Bundle (P3,500) – entrance to the event grounds, a Habangbuhay 10-inch signed silver vinyl, plus meet and greet with Ebe Dancel before the show and a signed event poster.
  • Regino dedicates his self-composed song “Idolo” to April Boys fans

Regino dedicates his self-composed song “Idolo” to April Boys fans

Singer-songwriter JC Regino, the only son of hitmaker “Idol” April Boy Regino, collaborates with April Boy’s two brothers Vingo and Jimmy in releasing the latest single under GMA Music titled ‘Idolo.’

JC wrote the song six months after his father passed away, but he wasn’t able to finish it. Then after his birthday last year, he was missing his dad so much, and he remembered the song. That’s when everything came to him, and he was able to finish the song in September 2022.

According to JC, he wrote ‘Idolo’ to give thanks to his dad’s fans for the neverending love and support they’ve given and shown to the April Boys, that without them, there would have been no April Boys. He feels that the fans/supporters deserve to have a song dedicated to them.

Tune in to JC Regino and the April Boys ‘Idolo’ which will be available on all digital streaming platforms worldwide on February 24.

  • Abby Clutario releases debut single ‘Tadhana’

Abby Clutario releases debut single ‘Tadhana’

Music pioneer and multi-instrumentalist indie musician Abby Clutario marks her musical debut under AltG Records through the release of her Chapman Stick revival of UDD’s ‘Tadhana.’

Abby became an official recording artist of AltG Records, a sub-label of GMA Music, last November 8. She is known in the music scene as an indie artist and the first one and one of two who can play a Chapman Stick, an electric instrument with approximately 10-12 strings in the Philippines.

She shared that picking ‘Tadhana’ as her first single was a collaborative decision with Artist and Repertoire Manager and In-house Producer Kedy Sanchez. She is grateful for the opportunity and is excited about releasing the song, “Very grateful ako at the same time very excited to be able to release a song thru a label like AltG Records. Being an independent artist for 20 years, I can say na marami na akong pinagdaanan na challenges ng isang musikero and now dahil sa AltG I can say na mas may chance ako na maiparinig at ma-share ang aking music sa mas maraming listeners.”

Abby also revealed the process in reviving the song, “Ang Chapman Stick ay isang napaka-versatile na instrument. Bukod sa kaya niyang bumagay sa kahit anong genre ng music, masasabi ko na very soothing ang kanyang tunog at sadyang babagay sa mga ballad na style katulad ng Tadhana. Nung inaareglo ko ang kanta para sa voice ng Chapman Stick, sinugurado ko lang na mas ma-highlight pa rin ang main melody ng kanta and ang Chapman Stick ang nagsisilbing support and accompaniment nito.”

She also admitted that it was challenging but is happy with the result, “Siguro ang pinaka-challenge is a personal one, which is how to give justice to this song na maganda na ang pagkakalikha to begin with. My version is a stripped-down version na tanging ‘yung voice and Chapman Stick lang ang maririnig. I’m happy na sinuggest ‘yun ni Sir Kedy kasi I really also like the song.”

Abby’s debut song was #5 on iTunes PH’s Top 100 Songs chart upon its release on January 20 and is included in Spotify’s Fresh Finds Philippines playlist.

Tune in to Abby Clutario’s ‘Tadhana’ on all digital streaming platforms worldwide.

  • Fall in love over and over again with Princess Velasco’s ‘Ang Ating Pag-ibig’

A relationship that can weather every storm is every couple’s dream and promise to their significant other.

For OPM Acoustic Princess and Kapuso singer Princess Velasco, this vow is immortalized in her latest single under GMA Music, ‘Ang Ating Pag-ibig,’ released today, November 19.

Written by her husband Mark Herbert Rosario in 2013 as a gift on their wedding day, Princess felt the need that the message of the song is worth sharing to the world, whether you’re a couple in love or an individual feeling the love from family and friends.

“The song was written by my husband in 2013. The first and only time it was performed in public was during our wedding. It was his surprise to me. Una ko siyang narinig nung wedding reception namin. The song is not just about us. It’s about love. It’s about finding the person you’ve been praying for, waiting for, and the promise to stay with that person despite anything that the world or universe throws your way,” says Princess.

Princess also explained that her contribution to the song is the second verse. It was her answer to her husband’s words and melody.

“Parang sinagot ko lang ang words niya. Before I presented it to GMA Music, I recorded it with my guitar and sent it to him and sobra siyang natuwa. I’m sure a lot of people can relate to it kasi ‘pag nahanap mo ang ganung klaseng pag-ibig and kapag pinakasalan mo ang tao na ‘yun and the commitment is there, you can weather any storm and I want to share that with others,” she says.

Filled with melodies of love, the song takes Princess back to her wedding day when she was standing by the church door ready to walk the aisle and marry her husband.

“Naalala ko ang moment na nasa labas ako ng pintuan ng simbahan tapos hindi ako makahinga and kinakabahan ako. Ganun ang nafi-feel ng bride, excited ka na kinakabahan na hindi mo maintindihan. It’s a day I will never forget. It’s one of the best days of my life. Hindi perfect ang marriage namin and I am really thankful to God na because of our love and our commitment, we now have three beautiful children,” says Princess who is a wonderful mother to Kobe, Milo, and Sari.

Princess considers “Ang Ating Pag-ibig” as not just a song for your husband or your wife but a song for your loved one, whether it’s your child, your parents, or your friend.

“Ang Ating Pag-ibig” is now available on Spotify, YouTube Music, Apple Music, and other digital stores worldwide.

  • Zack Tabudlo finishes 2021 strong with his full length debut album, ‘Episode’!

2021 was a year of breakthroughs for singer-songwriter, and producer Zack Tabudlo. His anthemic singles “Binibini” and “Nangangamba” dominated multiple local and international charts across major streaming platforms.

After signing to Island Records Philippines/MCA Music in 2020, Zack emerged as one of the fastest rising OPM artists that we have seen in the last year – breaking records for streaming, digital sales, and airplay.

“As we rolled out his songs, there was an exponential growth in his listenership. His songs ‘Binibini’ and ‘Nangangamba’ both became #1 on Spotify’s Global Viral Chart, topping the charts for four weeks straight. ‘Binibini’ also topped Spotify’s Philippines Top 50 Chart for six straight weeks, where he broke the record for the longest-running number #1 local track by a Filipino RADAR artist. After being added to Spotify’s RADAR Philippines program, Zack was able to reach new fans both locally and internationally.” said Enzo Valdez, Managing Director of MCA Music.

Being part of Spotify’s RADAR program that supports emerging artists, Zack Tabudlo shares, “RADAR Philippines has given me a platform to share more of my music to both the local and global audience. It has given me the motivation to create more music.” He adds, “With the help of Spotify, being able to reach my listeners in a meaningful way does justice to my roots and hard work. I hope the stories that I share about my passion and heart for songwriting will inspire other aspiring young artists to showcase their works and put Filipino music and artists on the global stage.”

This October, Zack Tabudlo is releasing his first full length album ‘Episode’ – a collection of his personal experiences about love, life, and the challenges that he had to overcome while chasing his dreams. All of these personal stories were brought to life through the 14-track LP. With emotionally charged and hard-hitting lyrics, the overall vibe of the album is a roller coaster ride of intense feelings of being romantically swept away by love, conveying happiness in its purest form, nursing past heartbreaks, to finally having the courage to forgive and move forward with life.

Episode is a word that gave such an impact to me at times where I was at my lowest,” the singer-songwriter explains. “People would say ‘here he is with another episode’ or another stage of problems, where obviously not anyone would want to experience. It’s ironic to put it as an album title but it’s how I went through these stories, with these episodes. Everything is based on personal experiences, from heartbreak and love, from life to unfortunate events.”

The whole album is Zack’s personal masterpiece. He was the sole writer, producer, and even mixed and mastered all 14 tracks. Zack’s growth as an artist is very evident in this album as he explored various musical styles in bringing these songs to life – ultimately creating his own sound with influences from pop, R&B, bedroom electronica, punk rock, ‘80s, and ‘90s alternative rock.

This growth is something Enzo Valdez has also noticed. “As a composer, he has grown tremendously. We’ve seen a lot of listeners relating to his lyrics and resonating with his sensibilities. The album also showcases different genres all throughout, making each song a unique experience. This album definitely shows how far Filipino artistry has come despite the challenges of the pandemic,” he shared.

Episode is Zack Tabudlo’s debut album under Island Records Philippines, a domestic label division under MCA Music. This album features his familiar hits such as “Binibini” and “Habang Buhay” with other new songs that will surely tug people’s hearts, stirring emotions and feelings that were once, or never acknowledged.

Episode is out now on all streaming platforms worldwide via Island Records Philippines and MCA Music Inc.
