Filipino otakus, rejoice! You no longer need to book plane tickets abroad just to visit the famed exhibition for one of the most beloved series in recent memory, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: The Total Concentration Exhibition is now officially in the Philippines. Be sure to make time to visit the site at Level 3 of the New Gateway Mall 2.
Presented by PULP Spaces+, Muse Communication, ACO MEDIA, and Mediasphere Communication, the Demon Slayer exhibition is the first of its kind in the Philippines. Previously, it had very successful runs in Thailand, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
On August 2, the Grand Launch was held at the Quantum Skyview of the New Gateway Mall 2. It was inaugurated by the executives of PULP and their associates, with the special appearance of a very important mascot – Tanjiro himself.
Demon Slayer is an anime series based on the manga by Koyaharu Gotouge. It follows the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a teenage boy who lost his family to a savage attack by demons. His younger sister Nezuko was the sole survivor, but the problem is she became a demon. He then joins the Demon Slayer Corps to fight demons and find a way to cure his sister. Since the anime series premiered in 2019, it has captured people’s hearts and imaginations, making it one of the most prominent anime of our time.
If you are a Demon Slayer fan, it goes without saying that you shouldn’t miss the Total Concentration Exhibition. It features an immersive exploration of the important plot details from the beginning until the Entertainment District Arc. The experience itself is fascinating and enriching.
Here is a short guide to what the exhibition offers.
Relive the epic moments. Admire the art.
First and foremost, the exhibition is a visual treat that must be appreciated slowly. The walls are lined with portraits and sketches of each character in the world of Demon Slayer, including Tanjiro’s Squad, the Hashira, the demons, and even the side characters. Beside them are some valuable information that will surely deepen your understanding of the series.
There are also line art panels of the animation sequences of the pivotal scenes in the show. Artworks by various animators and artists are also given a spot in the exhibition.
Enter all the rooms.
The exhibition has dedicated areas for different rooms that focus on certain characters. Among the things you’ll see are the life-sized replica of the Nichirin Swords, their haori (a jacket worn over the kimono), and the Infinity Castle. Make sure to sweep all the areas since some are slightly hidden. There are many more, but we’ll leave those as elements of surprise.
Tip #1: You might need to crouch down or take a peek at holes in the walls in some instances.
Tip #2: Watch out for the mini-game. Scan the QR code and accomplish all feats for a special souvenir before the exit.
Strike a pose!
There are photo zones spread out across the exhibition, and each of them are beautifully rendered replica of the anime scenes – the overflowing wisteria atop Mount Fujikasane, the Mugen Train carriage overlooking the fight between Rengoku and Akaza, the Entertainment District fight with Daki and Gyutaro and more. Strike as many poses as you want. Cosplaying is most welcome as well.
Tip: Bring your friends for maximum enjoyment. Like Tanjiro’s adventure, the experience is better when you share it with others.
Bring home some souvenirs.
An adventure is better remembered with some souvenirs. After the exhibition, you’ll see a wide array of merchandise you can purchase. There are stickers, acrylic stands, passport cases, posters, shirts, photocards, tumblers, mats, and figures.
The Philippine-exclusive artworks are must-haves. The exhibition is the only place you can get Tanjiro with the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, Nezuko’s Halo-Halo, Zenitsu at the Masskara Festival, Inosuke with the Chocolate Hills and Tengen’s Jeepney.
Tip: Other items (pin badge and haori) are available for pre-order. Ask the cashier or staff to assist you.
Itadakimasu!
After thoroughly enjoying the exhibition, you can also savor some tasty treats and drinks at the cafe. They have rice meals (chicken poppers, ebi tendon, beef yakiniku), yakisoba, and taiyaki (cheese or chocolate). For the drinks, they have gulaman, slushies, and cucumber lemonade juice. Each meal and beverage order comes with a special bowl or cup sleeve of a Demon Slayer character.
Snap photos with the cute inflatables.
For extra fun, you can also try looking for the giant Demon Slayer inflatables spread out across Gateway Mall. There are 6 in total: Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, Zenitsu, Rengoku and Tengen.
Tip: Many of them are placed near escalators so keep your eyes peeled.

Linggo Ng Musikang Pilipino (LMP) marks its highly anticipated celebration this year with a series of music events to foster deeper awareness and appreciation for Pinoy music.
The week-long festivity, which takes place in various music venues and stages across Metro Manila from July 5 to 31, continues its commitment to promoting established and new homegrown music acts whose work has inspired the Filipino people or contributed to the advancement of the local economy and the arts.
“What makes LMP 2024 different from the previous celebrations is that it has a more ‘back-to-basics’ vibe and ‘keeping-it-simple’ feel,” Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM) Board member and Vice President for Special Projects Christian Bautista explains. “The focus and emphasis are on listening to and appreciating different artists sharing their music and stories in intimate settings. Our LMP this year is not focused on the spectacle but rather more on highlighting the artist and the song.”
This year’s LMP chronicles a decade of celebrating Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino by Proclamation No. 933, signed by late President Benigno Aquino III on December 19, 2014.
Returning on its tenth year to reintroduce its mandate to highlight Filipino singers and to showcase the richness and diversity of Filipino music, Linggo Ng Musikang Pilipino aims to be more proactive in supporting Pinoy artists and ensuring that they are given a platform to present their work and their story to a global modern audience.
Johnoy Danao performing on LMP
The commemoration of LMP is slated to take place in several areas with multiple dates and will feature more than 30 artists from OPM’s roster and network of artists.
OPM Spotlight: LMP Night, which has championed some of the biggest and brightest local artists in recent years, will host performances and shows for the rest of the month at Kubo Bar in Kalayaan, Quezon City. Some of the headliners include Johnoy Danao, Sugarcane, jikamarie, Color It Red,, Mint Magic and many more from the OPM slate.
Other remote celebrations include OPM Spotlight: Rockwell LMP Series on July 24, 25, 26, and 28 at the Power Plant Mall in Makati City, and LMP24: PhilPop Night on July 31, 2024 at Kubo Bar. The latter puts a spotlight on select winners and participants from the prestigious annual songwriting competition, including Noah Alejandre, PhilPop 2020 Grand Champion; Davey Langit, PhilPop 2015 Top 3 Finalist and PhilPop 2013 Finalist; Kulas Basilonia, PhilPop 2020 Finalist; Hazel Faith, PhilPop North Luzon Boot Camp 2019 Fellow; and dwta, PhilPop 2021 DigiCamp Fellow. Ayala Land and Make It Makati will also be having a series of acoustic shows in partnership with OPM along with other activities related to the Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino celebration from July 21 to 28.
“Expect beautiful music and heartfelt performances from the artists,” Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM) President Ogie Alcasid shares. “We hope that through this humble series of shows that we’re doing, the Filipino audience will continue to love and support Filipino artists and Filipino music even after LMP.”
OPM Officer in Charge Gab Cabangon emphasizes that the goal of this year’s LMP has never changed. “It’s always been about the celebration and promotion of Filipino artists and Filipino music. That has always been our advocacy, to which we are fully committed as an organization. I guess what we could add to that is that this LMP celebration is also OPM’s way to reintroduce itself to the general public and grow its community.”
The Linggo Ng Musikang Pilipino was established under Proclamation No. 933, signed in 2014, with the initiative to celebrate Filipino music during the last week of July every year.
Here’s the schedule this year:
The Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino a.k.a. LMP24 is presented to you by the Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mang-aawit in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Rockwell Land, PhilPop Musicfest Foundation, Inc., Ayala Land, Make It Makati, Ayala Malls, and Ayala Museum.
Special thanks as well to partner venues Kubo Bar Kalayaan and Beach House Bar & Grill Marikina

Bakal Bakal Bakal, political tirades, live-action Fruit Ninja, ey, music, powder session, insults, Hulas Cam, arnis, free whole roast chicken, X-Men Theme Song, Pamura, impromptu spoken poetry and just laughter all over — these were only a few of the many references that were tossed around the air during KoolPals’ Block Party – 5th Anniversary Celebration on May 11 at 123 Block, Mandaluyong. The sold-out event was a crazy mishmash of stand-up comedy and music, with splits of inside jokes and happenings that were as unpredictable as the weather.
The KoolPals Podcast, with 643 episodes on Spotify, is currently one of the top podcasts on Spotify Philippines. The main cast, composed of GB Labrador, James Caraan, Nonong Ballinan, Ryan Rems and Muman Reyes, are seasoned stand-up comedians and occasional actors. As the story goes, their first podcast in 2019 was recorded in GB Labrador’s bedroom while they were drinking San Mig Gin Premium and eating spicy hotdogs.
Every podcast episode they record is full of random conversations about anything under the sun – current events, pop culture, their neighbors’ quirks – and they put their wacky spin into them until everything spirals out of control. Their humor, which appeals to a wide demographic of people from all walks of life (albeit many of which are 80s and 90s kids), has earned them a steady fanbase that has grown into a community over the years.
That’s precisely what the Block Party was about – a celebration of the KoolPals community. The fans who attended the event were on the same wavelength and mostly from closely woven generations. With the humid summer heat, the audience came prepared (as people of their age usually do). Although 123 Block was designed to be a standing-only venue, 80% brought their portable chairs plus their battery-operated portable fans and double wall vacuum-insulated tumblers, all for the sake of keeping themselves comfortable while watching the show which lasted for almost 7 hours. They patiently stayed in what felt like 40°C – sweating it out and visibly uncomfortable. They endured all that for hours just to see the KoolPals in person and to laugh it all out like it was nothing. Was it worth it? Definitely.
Like a true party, KoolPals’ colleagues and friends also had plenty of special appearances that evening. Some of them performed while some just came by to say hi.
We’ll give you some of the event’s highlights in photos.

Photo#2: Chino Liao, known for his Class Clown Podcast, made a short cameo wearing baby clothes on stage.
Photo#3: Dubbed the “Busking Queen” by KoolPals, singer-songwriter Eloisa was the first musical act for the event. She shared that one of her songs was written after she tasted Mr. Chips for the first time.
Photo#4: Rap-reggae band Lion and the Scouts turned up the volume when they performed.
Photo#5: Making his way to the back part of the crowd, Johnoy Danao treated the crowd to an acoustic set which included his rendition of Eraserheads’ “Pare Ko” at “Ikaw at Ako”. When he asked for song requests, some suggested BINI’s “Pantropiko”. He didn’t do it that time, but he said he’ll try. (Let’s see if he does it.)
Photo#6: The spotlight was on Kween Yasmin as she performed a medley of Gloc 9’s “Upuan” and “Sirena” wherein she did both the rap parts and the chorus all by herself. She also performed an impromptu spoken poetry about asteroids.

Photo#8: Laugh Laban contest grand winner Marvin Tumon and runner-up Emil Buenaventura also did their solo stand-up sets during the event.
Photo#9: Yael Yuzon, who was part of the crowd that evening, received the cooling powder treatment. Earlier, it was revealed that the KoolPals will be ambassadors for Kuchi Kuchi. They premiered the video ad as well. Living up to their roles, they had their friends and colleagues sample their product on the dot. Other guests who shared the same fate included Jun Sabayton / Bayaw, historian Xiao Chua and KoolPals’ social media manager Masahiro Niioka.
Photo#10: Tanya Markova colored the stage with their quirky songs and their witty anecdotes. They played “Linda Blair”, “Picture Picture” and “Disney”.

He said that ever since they started guesting in the KoolPals Podcast, their band has been getting more attention from new fans.
Photo#12: In another random turn of events, the KoolPals gave away packs of Chooks to Go whole roast chicken to the audience.
Photo#13: It was past 11:00 PM when the final act took the stage. Dilaw woke the crowd with loud riffs and growls.
In between their riotous jokes, the KoolPals repeatedly thanked the crowd for coming to the show and they apologized as much for the discomfort that the heat had brought. They were very happy that within 5 years, their community had grown as much. It was something they could not have imagined when they started recording in 2019. In the future, they hope to make their celebrations bigger and better.
To put it simply, the KoolPals Block Party was fun – so much so that we didn’t mind the sweltering heat around the venue. Stand-up comedy is best experienced live, with an audience that is open to the idea of just appreciating humor. The popularity of the KoolPals proves that something as simple as a joke can go a long way. It can brighten the lingering darkness of daily life. It can create 600+ episodes of podcasts that resonate with a nation. It can even unite a community.

Award-winning global popstar Dua Lipa has finally released her third album Radical Optimism, and it’s been getting critical acclaim ever since. Now, Filipino fans can enjoy the album on a whole new level this coming weekend with an interactive Radical Optimism Pop-Up happening at the Glorietta Activity Center.
A Dance-inducing Masterpiece
Radical Optimism makes it known early on just what type of album it is with the addicting “End Of An Era,” high-energy “Training Season,” and euphoric, club-ready “Houdini.” With this album, fans get eleven songs that can bring out anyone’s urge to groove and get lost in the music.
Dua herself describes Radical Optimism as “psychedelic pop,” noting that “there are musical breaks and a mix of different sounds, and when you listen to it with your eyes closed, it opens up a very visual world.”
The album was inspired by Dua’s own self-discovery and speaks to the pure joy and happiness of having clarity in situations that once seemed impossible to face. It’s a musical representation of how hard goodbyes and vulnerable beginnings can become milestones once you choose to see the brighter side of things. “It struck me – the idea of going through chaos gracefully and feeling like you can weather any storm,” she shared.
Rolling Stone has called this album “pop bliss,” while highlighting how it’s “uniquely and
utterly Dua Lipa: confident dance pop full of witty Instagram-caption-ready one-liners.”
Dua also recently returned to Saturday Night Live, where she was both the host and the musical guest for the night. She gave an electrifying version of “Illusion,” followed by a passionate performance of “Happy For You.”
An Experiential Pop-Up
Can’t get enough of the album? Experience it like never before with this week’s Radical Optimism event. This unique and immersive pop-up is set to bring all of Dua’s songs to life – to the point where dancing is the only option! Fans can go and see it for themselves when they visit the Glorietta Activity Center from May 17 to 19, anytime between 10 AM and 9 PM. They’ll be treated to themed photobooths, personalized memorabilia, and more!
Exciting things are happening for Dua, as she recently announced the first run of tour dates in support of Radical Optimism with shows in Berlin, Pula, and Nimes taking place in June. In addition, Dua will make her Pyramid Stage debut as the Friday night headliner at this year’s Glastonbury Festival on June 28th.
This pop powerhouse shows no signs of slowing down, and everyone’s excited to see even more performances and visuals for her new songs in the coming weeks.
