Season 2 takes a dramatic leap through time, as revealed in the intriguing post-credit footage of Season 1. In this pivotal scene, a character called “Ho-jae”, bearing a striking resemblance to Jang Tae-sang, turns to reveal a mysterious scar, igniting a flurry of questions about his identity and the scar’s origin. This moment is a gateway to the series’ time travel element, transitioning the setting to Seoul of 2024. The released stills amplify the mystery, capturing Chae-ok at a critical juncture and suggesting a season brimming with enigmatic events and connections. Director Chung Dong-yoon shares his vision for this new chapter, stating, “Season 2 presents a story with a completely different charm. The change in space and time period will provide a clear distinction, offering an expanded universe feel.”
Season 1 captivated audiences worldwide with its unique blend of period drama and fantastical elements, earning high praise from international media. CNN hailed it as “[it] deserves to be a monster hit,” while TIME magazine noted, “it is also about the world we live in today.” Just 3 days after release, Season 1 gained a spot in the Global TOP 10(Non-English) to rise up to the third place and appear in the TOP 10 list of 69 countries across the globe including Brazil, Japan, Singapore, France, and Australia.
The suspense around the series is further fueled by the cliffhanger from Season 1’s finale and the anticipation of how the characters’ narratives will evolve. Actors, including Park Seo-jun and Han So-hee, have hinted at the deeper character developments and emotional depth of the upcoming season, continuing its legacy as a global sensation and delving into the mysteries of time travel and destiny.
Gyeongseong Creature Season 2, set to premiere exclusively on Netflix, is all poised to reveal a larger, more dynamic story.
Ahead of the eagerly awaited debut ofYu Yu Hakusho next week, the trailer is giving fans a taste of the groundbreaking visual effects that bring to life the intense battles between humans and demons, setting a new standard for live-action adaptations.
The five-episode series captures the essence of the original best-selling manga by incorporating supernatural elements in a way that appears realistic. This was made possible through the collaboration with Scanline VFX, known for their work on major Hollywood productions.
“To what extent CGI-characters can be shown close-up depends on the distance from the camera, whether there’s dialogue, and the facial expression,” said visual effects director Tomofumi Akahane. “With Scanline VFX on board, we were able to reach higher than any other Japanese title and achieve a quality where the average viewer won’t be able to tell that CGI is actually CGI.”
The team made use of the latest performance capture technology, with 170 cameras filming the actors simultaneously in 360 degrees. This allows director Sho Tsukikawa to choose the best angle afterward as if moving a single camera, resulting in realistic CG character assets that seamlessly interact with the live-action elements.
Recreating battles between humans and demons
As the setting of Yu Yu Hakusho includes the Human World, the Demon World and the Spirit World, the team had to create many of the demons from scratch. And the battles between humans and demons were among the most difficult to recreate visually from the manga, especially the scenes with the Toguro Brothers—the Elder Toguro can distort his body and the Younger Toguro can expand his muscles.
“The body size of the actors and the characters are different, so it was really hard to change the scale. It wasn’t just a matter of changing their height, we needed to ensure that the sight lines of the opponents were accurate,” said visual effects advisor Ryo Sakaguchi, who was the first Japanese visual producer to win a Scientific and Technical Award at the Oscars. The team ended up creating and printing 3D models of the Toguro Brothers, and attaching them to the actors for the shoot, so that it was easier and more natural for those acting opposite them.
Moreover, as many of the actors were not used to working with CGI during shoots, the production team came up with various ideas to help the actors perform, including having a stunt person wear blue clothes and fight opposite the actor.
“How do actors imagine an enemy that isn’t actually in front of them?” asked action director Takahito Ouchi. “No matter how much you tell them that an enemy is there, they need to get fired up enough to make it seem like they are really fighting. And that realism is born from the passion of the actors.”

“Castaway Diva” is a romantic comedy that tells the story of a girl who became stranded on a deserted island when she was traveling to Seoul to take part in an audition to become a singer. The audition was in Seoul, and the girl was on her way there when she became cast away. This new drama will mark the third time that “While You Were Sleeping” and “Start-Up” director Oh Choong Hwan and “Start-Up” writer Park Hye Ryun have collaborated on a production.

The survival thriller “Alice in Borderland,” which is a global mega-hit, will return for a third season of the Netflix series “Alice in Borderland.” Additionally, it was announced by Netflix that co-stars Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya will be returning to their roles, and that Shinsuke Sato will continue to direct the series. The official date for when “Doona!” will come out has been revealed and it will premiere on Netflix on October 20th. It’s been called the most anticipated romantic drama series of the year, and people all over the world can’t wait for it to come out on Netflix. It promises to tell a love story like no other.
Doona! is an upcoming Netflix Original South Korean romantic K-drama that is based on the famous webtoon of the same name. It follows the lives of college student Lee Won-jun and the mysterious ex-K-Pop star Lee Doona as they meet and fall in love while living in a sharehouse.
The show is directed by Lee Jeong Hyo, who also worked on the very famous K-dramas Crash Landing on You, Romance is a Bonus Book, and Life on Mars.

Actress Ai-Ai delas Alas and renowned TikTok influencer Fonzi have collaborated on a video for Netflix that is inspired by the recent release of the action-packed film Heart of Stone, which stars Gal Gadot and is available to stream on Netflix.

Netflix revealed an exciting Japanese slate of unscripted content, from outrageous variety shows to unique dating formats. At the APAC Unscripted Showcase, Netflix Japan Content Manager Dai Ota shared a peek at five reality series that feature Japan’s unique entertainment culture. “We’re excited to move into a new phase of our content strategy, ramping up our investments in unscripted and bringing new concepts to the screen. We want to elevate the unscripted category with great production values and storytelling from Japan’s most innovative creative voices,” Ota said.
Japanese reality series have captured global audiences and Netflix is continuing to pursue fresh ideas across genres with 15 titles currently being developed. “We are committed to being the go-to destination for immersive, authentic and must-watch unscripted experiences,” Ota added.

LIGHTHOUSE features musician-actor Gen Hoshino and comedian Masayasu Wakabayashi (from the comedy duo Audrey) embarking on a six-month conversation based on “single-line journal” where they share their personal stories, struggles, and fears with each other and the viewers. Gen Hoshino created the opening song “Mad Hope” featuring Louis Cole and Sam Gendel, as well as five ending songs inspired by his conversation with Wakabayashi in the episodes. This creative approach to comedy showcases two of Japan’s top entertainers as you’ve never seen them before. It premieres on Netflix on August 22.

Last One Standing has been described asthe Squid Game of unscripted comedy. The first season on Netflix last year saw Japanese comedians competing to improvise funny stories in their own words, while they play roles in a serious drama series. In the upcoming Season 2 premiering on October 10, a new group of Japan’s comedians will be sharing more of their own stories. This new season continues to be helmed by top creator-producer Nobuyuki Sakuma.
Love Like a K-Drama

Love Like a K-Drama is an innovative hybrid where K-Drama romance meets acting competition as four Japanese actresses and four Korean actors are paired up to try and land lead roles in six K-dramas. It features lively commentary from studio emcees Haruna Kondo (Harisenbon), Aa-CHAN (Perfume), Shusuke Fukutoku (Jarujaru), Hayato Komori (GENERATIONS), and Maria Tani. It premieres on Netflix on November 28.
The film “What If?” stars Alessandra de Rossi and JM de Guzman, and it will become available to watch online on Netflix beginning on September 7.
The movie’s trailer gives the impression that the plot will center on a newlywed couple who find themselves marooned on a remote island after their honeymoon.
They are forced to confront tough facts that could lead to the end of their relationship when they are caught in a storm while on their honeymoon on an island.
Angie Castrence, Soliman Cruz, and Jett Pangan are among the actors who appear in the film, which was directed by Emmanuel Quindo Palo.
The highly anticipated Korean drama “Destined with You,” which stars Rowoon from SF9 and Jo Bo Ah, is the newest addition to Netflix’s Korean content. The streaming giant, which is already generating a buzz with top-rated K-dramas such as “Celebrity,” “The Glory,” “King The Land,” “The Good Bad Mother,” and more, is scheduled to debut new series this month.
“Destined With You” is a fantasy romance that will depict the love tale of civil servant Lee Hong Jo (Jo Bo Ah), who gets a prohibited book sealed 300 years ago, and ace lawyer Jang Shin Yu (SF9’s Rowoon), who becomes a victim of the forbidden book. The story will be told through Lee Hong Jo’s (Jo Bo Ah) and Jang Shin Yu’s (SF9’s Rowoon) perspectives. The story for the drama was written by No Ji Sul, who also wrote “100 Days My Prince,” and it was directed by Nam Ki Hoon, who directed “Oh My Baby” and “Voice 3.”
The trailer depicts scenes from the two characters’ respective histories. Lee Hong Jo and Jang Shin Yu simply look at each other as if time has stopped while they are in the middle of the crowd. While he is holding Lee Hong Jo closely, Jang Shin Yu leans in and whispers something into her ear. “Let’s run away, to some place,” he says.
