Following Her Recent Wins, KREY Follows Up With “Why”

KREY has unveiled her newest single, “Why,” a hypnotizing alternative piece that whispers about complicated love. This release follows the warm reception of her earlier works “Waters” and “Meet Again,” which found their way onto Spotify’s discerning playlists — FRESH FINDS PH, OPM RISING, POSES, NEW MUSIC FRIDAY, and .PH — drawing listeners into her world of introspection.

In KREY’S words: “In a world overcomplicating love, ‘Why’ questions the mess and finds a simple truth. To my listeners, may this song be your guide to finding what feels right.”

The song’s indie alternative vibe invites you to daydream, stirring sentimental feelings of nostalgia and introspection. “Why” questions the irrational side of love. How can two people build a shared life and future together, only to end up as strangers or enemies? As the lyrics put it, “Wondering why life’s so weird that you meet someone that you won’t last with at all.”

Following her career wins, KREY has stayed active with live performances, including one at a Converge Philippines event and another at the Kadayawan Festival in Ayala Malls Abreeza, Davao, last August. For those craving a live performance, KREY is set to launch the single alongside an exclusive music video screening in Manila. Stay tuned by following Diorama FM and KREY on all social media platforms.

    WHY
    KREY

    verse 1:
been manipulated by those eyes- ah ah eyes
somethin’ ‘bout the words you say and the way you say it keeps me in a cloud
I don’t wanna lose myself this time
I was vindicated with the words you say that keeps me insane
    prechor:
And I- I would run to you
But I- I’m so done with you
    chorus:
why did lovers in the past
    make it all make sense?
    now it doesn’t make sense
    at all..
cause nothing lasts, because of people like you hurting people like me..
and all the time it’s fast,
    and no it doesn’t require
    any feeling and at most,
    it’s playing games..
    verse 2:
Wondering why life’s so weird that you meet someone that you won’t last with at all
Is there something bout the way that humans break just to build these walls?
    prechor:
And I- I would run to you
But I- I’m so done with you
    chorus:
why did lovers in the past
    make it all make sense?
    now it doesn’t make sense
    at all..
cause nothing lasts, because of people like you hurting people like me..
and all the time it’s fast,
    and no it doesn’t require
    any feeling and at most,
    it’s playing games..

Presented by Eventim Live Asia and Wilbros Live. Tickets go on-sale on October 8 (Wednesday), 11AM via SMTickets.com and SM Tickets outlets.

Born and raised in East Atlanta, J.I.D grew up on his parents’ collection of classic funk/soul LPs, and broke onto the scene with his 2015 EP, DiCaprio. The EP saw him collaborating with hip-hop duo EARTHGANG, whom he’d previously joined on a 2014 tour. Spotted here by J. Cole, J.I.D was promptly signed to Dreamville/Interscope Records. Soon after the signing, J.I.D made his major-label debut with the widely celebrated The Never Story (2017) which was quickly followed by the critically acclaimed album DiCaprio 2 (2018). The sophomore project garnered significant press attention and earned the rapper a spot in that year’s XXL’s Freshmen class. J.I.D further cemented his status as an exciting rap talent with standout performances on Dreamville’s Platinum-certified, Billboard #1 compilation Revenge of the Dreamers III (2019), which received GRAMMY nominations for “Best Rap Album” and “Best Rap Performance.” His growing popularity led to a collaboration with Imagine Dragons on “Enemy” for Netflix’s Arcane soundtrack, amassing nearly two billion streams, achieving 4x RIAA Platinum status, and earning nominations at the MTV Music Awards, AMAs, and iHeart Awards.

In 2022, J.I.D released The Forever Story, a critically acclaimed album hailed as a “classic” by Clash and featured on numerous year-end lists. The album reached #12 on the Billboard Hot 200 and earned RIAA Gold certification. “Surround Sound” featuring 21 Savage and Baby Tate on the album became a viral sensation with its TikTok “Ceiling” challenge, re-entering in Billboard Hot 100 as well as topping Billboard Viral 50 and TikTok charts, eventually achieving 3x RIAA Platinum status. His dexterous raps and songwriting pen has also caught the eye of many other music peers including Doja Cat, Offset, Dua Lipa, Imagine Dragons, Freddie Gibbs and more.

Humming off the success of his last project, J.I.D teased the release of his fourth studio album God Does Like Ugly (2025) at the top of the year with the single “WRK.” Following which he released a Preluxe edition of the album that featured four tracks including a monster lyrical effort “Animals” with Eminem. The EP successfully activated J.I.D’s passionate fan base, who were thoroughly impressed when the complete album dropped in August. Itfeatures an impressive array of guest appearances including Clipse, Ciara, Ty Dolla $ign, Vince Staples, Jessie Reyez, Westside Gunna and more, creating a rich and diverse sonic landscape. God Does Like Ugly instantly became a timeless contribution to the year’s hip-hop releases marking another successful project from J.I.D in the pantheon of his catalog. A highly anticipated live performer, J.I.D has sold out venues globally and performed at major festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Bonnaroo. Following the new album release, he announced the “God Does Like World Tours,” featuring his largest solo shows across four continents. His nimble lyricism and rapid flow have earned him a devoted fanbase, while his dedication to his craft is sportsmanlike, leaving room for him to be one of rap’s greatest in the making.

  • Smashing Pumpkins Invades Manila: A Nostalgic Trip Back to the ’90s Grunge Glory

Smashing Pumpkins Invades Manila: A Nostalgic Trip Back to the ’90s Grunge Glory

The rain fell over Metro Manila, just like it did on the stormy night in 2012 when The Smashing Pumpkins last played there. But for the thousands of fans mostly dressed in black, the rain only made the electric nostalgia in the air stronger. For kids in the 1990s who listened to “Siamese Dream” and “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness” over and over, this wasn’t just a concert; it was a trip back to their childhood.

Billy Corgan, the band’s lead singer, was joined by original members James Iha on guitar and Jimmy Chamberlin on drums, as well as bassist Jack Bates and guitarist Kiki Wong. They played a setlist full of classic songs from their catalog that blew the roof off the place.

The lights went out, and the crowd went wild when the band started their set with the pulsing, futuristic riffs of “Glass’ Theme” from ‘Machina/The Machines of God’ and then the gritty, industrial churn of “Heavy Metal Machine.” The energy was immediate and visceral, reminding me of the Pumpkins’ ability to mix raw power with deep sadness. Billy Corgan, whose bald head shone under the stage lights, led the charge with a voice that still carried the weight of a generation’s anger.

“Magandang gabi! Maraming salamat, Manila!” Corgan yelled out, and his Tagalog greeting was met with loud cheers. The frontman, who is now in his late 50s, wore a long black coat and stood tall. He was as commanding as ever. The setlist was a love letter to long-time fans, taking them through different periods of the band’s long and successful career. Then, a surprise cover of Berlin’s “Take My Breath Away” came on. The dreamy synths and Corgan’s haunting voice cast a spell over the crowd. Then came “Mayonaise,” with its shining guitars and raw emotion that made many people cry, and “Disarm,” which turned the coliseum into a cathedral of shared weakness. The rain outside seemed to fall in time with the strings that hurt.

But the crowd really went wild when the first notes of “Tonight, Tonight” rang out through the arena. Fans swayed, held their hands up, and sang every word like the last 30 years had never happened. The strings, the hope, the heartbreak—it was like 1995 again, and Manila was living it. The sea of black shirts, each with a pumpkin and a zero logo on it, moved as one, lost in the song that defined their youth. “1979” was also a well-received performance, the dreamy alt-rock vibes and infectious energy of the song got the crowd going.

As the night came to an end, Corgan spoke to the happy, wet crowd one last time. “Thank you very much! Get home safe, you’re the best,” he said, his voice warm with gratitude. The fans, soaked but not giving up, stayed as the last notes faded, not wanting to let the moment pass.

For kids in the 1990s, this wasn’t just a concert; it was a reunion, a reckoning, and a reminder that the songs that shaped them are still alive and well. As the rain kept falling, The Smashing Pumpkins showed once again that their music will never go out of style, just like the city that welcomed them back with open arms.

  • Tilly Birds Join Forces with Ben&Ben on New English Single “Heaven”

Tilly Birds Join Forces with Ben&Ben on New English Single “Heaven”

Bangkok, Thailand – Thailand’s leading alternative pop-rock band Tilly Birds continue their journey into English-language music with their brand-new single “Heaven”, following the heartfelt release of “Never A Waste Of Time”.

This time, Tilly Birds’ team up with none other than Ben&Ben, the Philippines’ biggest folk-pop band, whose music has surpassed 2 billion Spotify streams and earned numerous awards across Asia. The collaboration brings together the fresh, playful pop sound of Tilly Birds with Ben&Ben’s signature heartfelt melodies—creating a track that is as vibrant as it is memorable.

The story behind “Heaven” began with a backstage friendship when both bands shared the same lineup at a concert in Malaysia. Inspired by that connection, the three members of Tilly Birds later flew to Manila to co-write the song with Ben&Ben. Recording sessions spanned across borders, with files exchanged between Bangkok and Manila, until the track was fully brought to life.

The collaboration culminated in a music video shot in the Philippines, featuring all three members of Tilly Birds alongside Ben&Ben’s nine members. The experience was described by both bands as fun, warm, and filled with genuine friendship—a true testament to the spirit of “Heaven.”

Lyrically, the single captures the joy of meeting someone unexpectedly, at just the right time, and sharing a moment of happiness together—like finding a little piece of heaven on earth. In many ways, the collaboration between Tilly Birds and Ben&Ben itself is another definition of “Heaven.”

Heaven” is now available worldwide on all streaming platforms.

  • Introducing the OG conyo boy, Arnel

Introducing the OG conyo boy, Arnel

Ethan David and KD Estrada join as the third member of Bagets The Musical’s favorite barkada

Ethan David and KD Estrada as Arnel shot on location at Hilton Manila Newport World Resorts

Bagets The Musical shows no signs of slowing down its big barkada reveal.
This time, the excitement is at an all-time high as the original conyo makes his entrance. First portrayed by Raymond Lauchengco, Arnel is a polished teen torn between following his heart and meeting his mother’s expectations.
The 2026 stage production invites a new generation to rediscover the character through the performances of young stars Ethan David and KD Estrada.

Ethan David on embracing the challenge
Ethan David is exactly the performer the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) has been looking for. A member of the P-pop boy group G.A.T., he also boasts a solid acting resume, with credits in TV series such as Seducing Drake Palma, Ang Mutya ng Section E, and Avenues of the Diamond. “I did theater abroad, but since coming home, I’ve focused more on screen work than stage,” he shares. “On TV, subtle expressions can work,” he explains. “On stage, I have to make my movements bigger and project my voice for the audience.”

Rather than shy away from the challenge, he embraces it by stepping out of his comfort zone with vocal training and stamina-building exercises. “Arnel’s always all-out for his friends,” adds David. “I want the audience to feel that energy and see he’s there for them, whether in big gestures or small ones.” This dedication reflects how deeply he connects with the character. The artist admits he has faced his own share of conflicts about what he wants. “Despite his flaws, I hope the audience sees how he musters up courage and motivates others to do the same,” he shares.

KD Estrada on becoming one with Arnel
There is no mistaking it: KD Estrada is a complete mirror of Arnel. The accent, the height, the vibe — everything about him exudes a well-mannered charm. “When I auditioned, my number one pick was Arnel because I see myself in him,” he begins. “I’d say if he were real right now, he would be exactly like me.” The beloved character is fun but responsible, chill but not one to give in to peer pressure. “I admire that about him. In the film, you can always see his hesitance,” he says. “That he just doesn’t do things because they’re ‘in’ or what you’re supposed to do.” Arnel’s strength, however, comes at a cost. Estrada notes that he empathizes with the role’s struggles, especially the uncertainty it brings.

“I’m grateful to have a strong support system at home,” he shares. “But I guess we all go through that phase where we don’t know whether to follow our own dreams or what other people want for us.” Portraying such depth is not new to him. This is his second theater production, following his debut in Walang Aray with screen partner Alexa Ilacad. He has also appeared in several TV series, including Unloving You, Bola Bola, Run to Me, and his latest, Pira-pirasong Paraiso. When asked about his favorite takeaway and the lesson audiences should remember, the artist answered without hesitation. “The friends that you make in high school are some of the best friends you’ll ever have.” Arnel proves that the struggles of growing up never fade. With Ethan David and KD Estrada bringing him to life, his story of friendship, courage, and staying true to oneself continues to resonate across generations. Bagets The Musical is scheduled to run from January 23 to March 2026 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, with more cast members to be revealed soon. Joining David and Estrada in the lead cast are Noel Comia Jr. and Tomas Rodriguez as Gilbert, and Milo Cruz and Migo Valid as Tonton. The musical is a joint production of VIVA Communications Inc, The Philippine STAR, and Newport World Resorts, guided by the creative vision of the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) Plus, with director Maribel Legarda, playwright J-mee Katanyag, and musical director Vince Lim.

  • Gloc-9’s “Kakampi” Is For Those Who’ve Got Your Back!

Gloc-9’s “Kakampi” Is For Those Who’ve Got Your Back!

Life’s a rollercoaster, but when you’ve got the right person by your side, every twist and turn feels a little easier. That’s the vibe behind “Kakampi,” the latest track from Gloc-9, Abaddon, and Hero. The word “kakampi” means “ally,” and this song is all about being that ride-or-die partner who sticks with you through thick and thin.

Following Gloc-9’s previous release “Bonethugs,” which explored misunderstandings and quarrels in relationships, “Kakampi” serves as a reminder that at the end of the day, partners are allies who have each other’s backs: “Ramdam ko ang nasa loob, tandaan mo ang ikaw ay ako. Ang pangako’y pang-hawakan mo dahil sumpa ko yan sa’yo, ako’y kakampi mo.”

The track is a tribute to the person you can always rely on and grow with, the chorus highlights that perfectly: “Malalampasan din natin ang lahat ng ‘to. Walang hindi kaya, basta tayo’y mag-kasama. Pahinga lang saglit, huminga’t pumikit. Tapos laban ulit, gano’n tayo kalupit. Mas madaling lumaban, mas matindi ‘pag tayo ay mag-kakampi.”

“Kakampi” is out now on all major streaming platforms. Whether you’re in a relationship or you just want to remind someone special that you’ve got their back, this song is the perfect anthem for sticking together no matter what.

    “Kakampi”
    Gloc-9, Abaddon, Hero

    Gloc-9 verse

Mahahanap kahit pumikit, mabulag man ay makakapa

    Chorus
Malalampasan din natin ang lahat ng ‘to
Walang hindi kaya, basta tayo’y mag-kasama
    Pahinga lang saglit, huminga’t pumikit
Tapos laban ulit, gano’n tayo kalupit
    Mas madaling lumaban
Mas matindi ‘pag tayo ay mag-kakampi

    Abaddon verse

Tama o mali man, ating panindigan
    Ilang beses na tayong sinubukan
Kaya ‘di para sukuan, tagusin nating sabay ang kabiguan

    Chorus
Malalampasan din natin ang lahat ng ‘to
Walang hindi kaya, basta tayo’y mag-kasama
    Pahinga lang saglit, huminga’t pumikit
Tapos laban ulit, gano’n tayo kalupit
    Mas madaling lumaban
Mas matindi ‘pag tayo ay mag-kakampi

    Hero verse

    Chorus
Malalampasan din natin ang lahat ng ‘to
Walang hindi kaya, basta tayo’y mag-kasama
    Pahinga lang saglit, huminga’t pumikit
Tapos laban ulit, gano’n tayo kalupit
    Mas madaling lumaban
Mas matindi ‘pag tayo ay mag-kakampi

    Outro
Mas madali ‘pag tayo ay mag-kakampi
    Tayo’y mag-kakampi

This latest release marks another milestone in what has been a breakthrough year for Myles Smith, establishing him as one of the most exciting new voices in British music. The track arrives with huge anticipation, following a teaser campaign – boosted by global superstars Ed Sheeran and Alex Warren – in which Myles shared a clip of the song and revealed that he had written it just two days earlier, after performing in Copenhagen.

“This song is about escaping the cycle that makes life feel smaller than it really is. At its heart, it’s about connection, freedom, and choosing to live for now” – Myles says of the single.

Marking another bold step in his artistry, “Stay (If You Wanna Dance)” cements Myles Smith’s standing as a rising force in the British music scene, setting the stage for an exciting season to come – with his highly anticipated debut album also on the horizon.

This year to date, Myles has played to over 100,000 people across his own sold-out headline shows in the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and North America, including a packed-out Glastonbury performance. In May, Myles won the the prestigious Ivor Novello Award for Most Performed Work and just this week he was confirmed as the main support for Ed Sheeran’s US tour in Summer 2026.

2024 was also a landmark year for Myles. From winning the BRITs’ Rising Star award to being named BBC Introducing Artist of the Year and landing a spot on the BBC Sound of 2025 longlist, his rise has been nothing short of meteoric. His breakthrough single, “Stargazing,” became the biggest global hit of the year by a UK artist, spending 29 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and fast-approaching 1 billion global Spotify streams. Projected to hit 3 billion streams across his catalogue before October this year, “Stargazing” has cemented itself as a modern classic, topping airplay charts across the US, UK, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium and Switzerland.

His moment at the 2025 BRIT Awards also made headlines for more than just the award and his stand-out performance, his powerful acceptance speech called on the government to do more to support the arts and ensure future generations have access to creative opportunities, echoing the very message of resilience and advocacy found in his music.

Myles’ story begins in Luton, where he learned guitar and piano by age 12 and honed his craft playing pubs and open-mic nights. As his music began to connect with audiences online, heartfelt covers like “Sweater Weather” and “I Found” paved the way for original songs including “Solo” and “My Home” which ultimately led to his 2023 signing with Sony’s RCA label.

Myles Smith’s ability to connect through heartfelt storytelling and melodic sincerity has made him one of the UK’s most compelling new voices and his trajectory shows no signs of slowing down.

  • A Nostalgic Night of Emo Anthems at Mayday Parade’s “Three Cheers for 20 Years” Tour in Manila

A Nostalgic Night of Emo Anthems at Mayday Parade’s “Three Cheers for 20 Years” Tour in Manila

American pop-punk band Mayday Parade rocked the Smart Araneta Coliseum last night, September 24, 2025, as part of their “Three Cheers for 20 Years” anniversary tour. It felt like a time machine back to the golden age of emo and pop-punk. The crowd turned the iconic venue into a sea of jumping bodies, loud choruses, and unfiltered nostalgia. This showed that the heartfelt anthems of the mid-2000s still hit just as hard in 2025.

Presented by PULP Live World, the concert marked the band’s biggest headline show in the country. Derek Sanders, the lead singer, and guitarists Alex Garcia and J.R. Wasilewski, bassist Mike Keel, and drummer Jake Bundrick didn’t waste any time getting into their hits. Derek walked onto the stage barefoot, which was a strange touch that made the night feel like a cozy jam session with old friends. His messy hair and easy smile were a reminder of why the band is still so popular: they are real, unpolished, and always relatable. The setlist started with the explosive songs “By the Way,” “Just Say You’re Not Into It,” “Three Cheers For Five Years,” and “Jersey.”

The song “Miserable at Best,” which has been on countless heartbreak playlists, brought the night to its emotional peak. When Sanders’ voice broke with emotion, the crowd turned into a choir, and their voices rose in a cathartic swell. As they sang, “I’ll be fine, I swear, I’m just gone beyond repair,” fans held hands with friends and cried. It was a moment that showed how magical Mayday Parade was: they could turn their own pain into a healing experience for everyone. For people who grew up with the band, it was like the years melted away and all that was left were the raw, unfiltered feelings of being 17 again: hopeful, heartbroken, and alive.

“I’ve been looking forward to playing here in Manila because I don’t think there’s anywhere in the world that sings as loudly as you guys do,” Sanders said, his voice full of warmth. “This song is called ‘Stay.’” The words hung in the air, and when the first notes of the 2011 hit song that fans loved came on, the crowd became one, swaying and singing lyrics that sounded like diary entries from the last decade.

The setlist took fans on a journey through time, with songs from Tales Told by Dead Friends to Sweet, each one a thread in the tapestry of their memories. People screamed along to “Bruised and Scarred,” “Terrible Things,”and swayed to “Oh Well, Oh Well,” but the last song of the night brought back memories. When the first riff of “Jamie All Over” started, the room turned into a sea of jumping bodies and outstretched hands. It was 2007 all over again, skinny jeans, and the carefree joy of being young. Fans sang until they lost their voices, and the lyrics were like a time capsule of summer crushes and late-night drives.

The last notes faded away, and Sanders waved goodbye, still barefoot and smiling. The fans stayed, not wanting to let go of the magic. Mayday Parade didn’t just play a show in Manila; they brought back memories of songs, nights, and feelings that would never fade. For those who were there, it was a night to remember, a memory to bring back when life gets too hard, and a guarantee that our youth’s songs would always have a place to call home.

As the last notes faded and Sanders waved goodbye, still barefoot and smiling, the crowd stayed, not wanting to let go of the magic. Mayday Parade didn’t just play a concert in Manila; they brought back a spark that reminded everyone that some songs, some nights, and some feelings never fade. For those who were there, it was a night to remember, a promise that the songs of our youth will always have a home, and a memory to hold on to when the world feels too heavy.

A Band at the Heart of a Global Phenomenon

Slot Machine’s touring announcement comes on the heels of their contribution to Shine, the breakout BL drama series[1]  that has taken Asia and the world by storm. Slot Machine’s music has been central to that momentum, underscoring emotional story arcs and connecting the band to millions of new listeners around the globe.
