Celebrating a decade of BYS Cosmetics Philippines with ENHYPEN
When BYS Cosmetics Philippines announced the South Korean boy group ENHYPEN as its newest brand ambassador, Filipino ENGENEs welcomed it with much anticipation for what is to come along. And indeed, the anticipation bore fruit. After two years since Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-ki made waves in the K-Pop industry as power rookies, the septet finally landed and met their fans in the Philippines through the BYS 10th Year Anniversary with ENHYPEN Fun Meet at the Araneta Coliseum last Decemer 3.
โThrough this opportunity, we were able to get together with our ENGENEs. I hope that this kind of opportunity will be plenty. We will do our best to grab these opportunities,โ Heeseung said during the press conference. BYS Cosmetics Philippines officially announced ENHYPEN as its newest brand ambassador on October 8 through a 30-second video captioned, โWeโre proud to announce the new face of BYS, the global K-pop group that is never afraid to play any role they wanna play.โ To date, the video has garnered more than 500,000 views and almost 70,000 likes on Twitter alone.
The groupโs members hail from a diverse collection of countries. Heeseung, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Jungwon are the four members of the band who were born in Korea. Jake is from Australia, Jay is from the United States, and NI-KI is from Japan.
There is never a question about the immense popularity and brand power of ENHYPEN. Even prior to their official debut, the boy group has received so much attention. Their debut year lined up numerous awards and recognition, including the World Rookie of the Year at the 11th Gaon Chart Music Awards and the Worldwide Fans’ Choice Top 10 for two consecutive years at the Mnet Asian Music Awards.
Leader Jungwon attributed their success to the unwavering support of their fans. โWhat actually propelled us to come this far is our ENGENEs,โ he said during the press conference. โI am feeling it more to my flesh these days because we are meeting them offline. We used to contact them online and now, we are able to communicate offline,” he added, promising their best to get more cheers from our ENGENEs moving forward.
ENHYPEN is said to represent “to join together to connect, discover, and grow together.” And despite the fact that they have only been performing professionally for a little over two years at this point, there is no question that they already have a massive following in the country.
“I’m really happy to meet our supporters from the Philippines for the very first time. During a press conference held on their first day in the country on Saturday, December 3, member Jake remarked that “it’s such a cool experience.”

ONE, TWO, CONNECT: ENHYPEN invades Manila
And December 3 showed ENHYPEN just that as tremendous cheers from fans all over the Philippines and the world filled the coliseum, echoing loudly and proudly for them. With big smiles, the boys could not contain their awe at the warm welcome from their fans who patiently waited โfrom debut (or even prior) to the days leading to their arrival, to the airport where they sang happily for their favorite boy group, until the very moment they came out the stage.
The BYS 10th Year Anniversary with ENHYPEN Fun Meet marked the debut of Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-ki on the Philippine concert stage. With their greeting, “one, two, connect”, the boy group said their first official live hello to their ENGENEs who reciprocated it with the loudest and seemingly never-ending cheers.
ENHYPEN during the fun meet at the Araneta Coliseum
Adorable interactions with the boy group through interviews and games made up the fun meet that concluded with the much-awaited performance of “ParadoXXX Invasion”. Through the games Enhy-pens and Enhy-pick, the audience got to know the members better based on their answers and choices. Lucky fans also played charades and teach them Filipino phrases, such as, “Magandang gabi“, “Mahal ko kayo, ENGENE“, “Ngiti naman dyan“, “Na-miss nyo ba kami?“, “Masaya ako kasama ang ENGENE ngayon“, “Kumaan ka nang maayos at matulog nang mahimbing“, and “Maraming salamat, Pilipinas!”
Filipino ENGENEs also made sure that Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-ki returned to South Korea filled with love from the Philippines as they celebrated two years with ENHYPEN through a touching video presentation and original song — from ENGENEs to ENHYPEN. โIโm very sorry that I didnโt notice the Filipinosโ love until I watched the video,โ Sunghoon said. Jay added that heโs โspeechlessโ by the support from their fans: โYou guys are awesome, Manila.โ
Closing the night with “ParadoXXX Invasion”, ENHYPEN also expressed gratitude to their Filipino fans and promised to meet them again soon — – a promise they will definitely keep as the boy group is set to bring their Manifesto Tour to Manila on February 4 and 5 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
I was immediately blown away by how smoothly they moved and how close their live vocals were to the studio version. The melody of the song went well with their fluid choreography.
ENHYPEN’s first appearance in the Philippines is just the start of what the group has in store for the rest of the Filipino ENGENEs in the coming years. They have had a significant influence on the world, and they have reached significant milestones in the short amount of time that they have been working together as a group. We are confident that these young men will not fail to live up to our expectation since we are aware of the amount of time, effort, blood, sweat, and tears that they put into their work.

Raising the flag: VXON, G22, and Darren Espanto open the celebration
Prior to the show proper, ENGENEs participated in fun games for special prizes from BYS Cosmetics Philippines. But the pre-show excitement did not waver as talented Filipino acts VXON, G22, and Darren Espanto kicked off the event with high-energy performances of their best hits. C13, Sam, Patrick, Vince, and Franz of VXON don impressive stages of their singles “Fiyaah” and “The Beast”. Despite missing member Alfea from the performance due to health reasons, Bianca, Jaz, and AJ of G22 did not hold back in taking over the stage with “Defy” and “Bang”. Asia’s Pop Heartthrob Darren Espanto continued to raise the Philippine flag with his performances of “Mi Gente” and a medley of “Pabalik Sa’Yo” and “Tama Na”.

STAYC girls, ITโS GOING DOWN: A Fun and Lovely Evening with STAYC
And it went down indeed when the sextet members of STAYC graced the Philippine shores with their bubbly and fresh personas in their first-ever fan meeting (and their first leg of the Asian tour!) in FYM Hall EVM Convention Center on December 3, 2022!
Debuting in 2020, Sumin, Sieun, Isa, Seeun, Yoon, and J proved that theyโre one of the best rookies in the KPOP scene with the demand for a larger venue to accommodate their growing fanbase in the Philippines. With hits like ASAP, RUN2U and STEREOTYPE, STAYC proves that theyโre nothing like stereotypes with songs that are unique in their way and distinctive that can easily capture the attention of KPOP fans, music enthusiasts, and critics alike.
Filipino SWITHs became the lucky fans to experience the first fan meet outside South Korea and they reciprocated this with much enthusiasm and love, giving the girls a delightful surprise that made the incredible STAYC touched and teary-eyed by the end of the night.
STAYC during the press conference
Stars to A Young Culture
Before meeting with the fans, we were invited to a small and short press conference with host MJ Felipe that showed a little bit of personality the STAYC girls possessed and they never failed to answer with finesse and poise, despite being rookies.
On the get-go, they immediately conveyed that one of the goals is to make happy memories with Filipino fans and when the host asked what did they know about Filipino fans or the Philippines, Sieun expressed that she was pleasantly surprised and touched to see that a lot of Filipino fans waited for them at the airport and is thankful for the warm welcome. They noticed that there are a lot of fans waiting for them outside the hall too and became even more eager to meet them finally.
When asked about doing live performances in each city they have visited, Isa mentioned that they are very happy that they get to communicate with fans and perform on the stage and love the loads of energy they are getting.
As they debuted in November 2020 while the world was still on lockdown, they were asked how did it feel to finally go out and meet the fans in person and how challenging it was to not be able to showcase their stages in front of an audience. Seeun pointed out that while it is challenging and saddening to only meet their fans via video call like how the rest of the world became accustomed to during the pandemic, they were still excited that their fans are still here and are very much relieved that they can finally see their SWITHs and meet them eye to eye.
When asked how would they want their first-time listeners to think when they hear STAYCโs music, Yoon said that since they pursue music that delivers positive energy, STAYC themselves has inhibited their debut process to their artistry which is to be incubated by being โHealthy.โ They want this to transcend to the music they release and want the new listeners to feel better mentally and physically healthy while enjoying their art.
As they are fairly new to the scene, they have also garnered new and young fans like them who look up to them and would want to follow in their footsteps. When asked what piece of advice they would give their young fans, the youngest or maknae of the group, J, stepped up and gave an inspiring quote for the fans to remember:
โI believe anything can be done if you put your mind to it and work hard. I hope you donโt lose it (the goal) until the end and you run for it. So donโt lose hope just run for it and aim for it.โ
The girls took a picture with Host MJ Felipe and even taught him how to do the infamous STAYC hand sign and prepared for the soundcheck.
STAYC members during the press conference
HELLO STAYC!
Marking their first song with the Filipino SWITHs, STAYC started their set with their first single, โSO BADโ from their debut single release, Star To A Young Culture and the fans welcomed the explosive performance with vigor. Immediately jumping to the next song, โBeautiful Monsterโ from their latest mini-album release, WE NEED LOVE, the girls continued to thrill the audience accompanied by a rich colorful display from the VCR behind them, only adding up to an aesthetically pleasing stage.
After the stages, the girls sat down with the Host Kristine Caballero Aplal for an introduction, with each of them making cute impressions, sneaking in a Filipino phrase like, โKamusta kayo?โ and notably Isa going for a complete Filipino introduction with โGusto talaga namin pumunta ng Pilipinas!โ After this, they were asked what their first impressions are of the Philippines.
Sumin started it off with how much theyโve wanted to come to the Philippines and perform for those who have waited for them for the longest time and are hoping that they will create a lot of great memories. Sieun pointed out that this wasnโt the first time she ever went to the Philippines! She has been here 3-4 times and went to Cebu for leisure and work. The Host asked Seeun what her impressions are and she talked about the fruits and how sweet the people are. J said that the Philippines has a whole different culture and pointed out how beautiful it is. Yoon just straight out professed her love to the SWITHs with a โMahal ko kayo!โ and Isa cutely noticed the fanโs smiles and want to bring them back to South Korea with her!
POST IT!
Proceeding with the fan meet, the first portion is them answering the questions of the fans that were written on the board by post-its! Each member gets to read or answer a post-it. Kicking off the first portion of the program, J picked the question, โWhat is Jโs birthday wish?โ on she answered wanting to have a birthday party with the fans. The maknae who is about to turn 18 on December 9, garnered a birthday song from the members and the SWITHs! She picked another question that asked โWhat is your favorite food?โ and she answered GREEN TEA!
During Seeunโs turn, she picked the question on what her current favorite TikTok dance challenge is and she said it would be their own โPOPPYโ dance challenge. They all got up and showed the fans how itโs dance and it shows that a lot of the fans already know the challenge as well! Seeun was also asked whatโs the best thing about the Philippines and without hesitation, she pointed out that itโs the Filipino SWITHs!
Sieun chose the question โHave you tried any Filipino snacks and what is her favorite?โ She told a brief story of how she went to the convenience store the day before the fan meet and tasted a pudding-like food. She got curious about it and recalled that itโs called the Maja Blanca. Her second question was about the possibility of her returning to acting and her answer is easy, โSure!โ
Leader Sumin picked the question that asked about what she does before she goes to sleep and shyly mentioned she just watches Youtube about camping! (donโt worry Sumin, youโre not the only one!) Sheโs always wanted to go camping but she never tried it and she would very much like to try it someday. Onto the second question, โIf STAYC is given the chance to visit the Philippines, what would you like to do in summer?โ The leader heard that there is an activity in Cebu where you can swim with whales and she would very much like to do that with her members.
The bubbly Yoon chose the question of which place would they want to go on a vacation in the Philippines and it seemed like they all want to go to Cebu! They heard a lot of great things about the place and how pretty it would be and she wants to go with her members there someday. For her second question, โCan you tell us TMI for today?โ in which she answered cutely, โI received your cuteness today!โ
Lastly and closing off the portion, Isa chose the question โWhat would you want to do if you have a one-day vacation?โ She answered that she wants to do activities with her members and go to the local market, play at the beach, and try to make sand castles. The second question is about what food would she like to eat for the rest of her life, her fancy buds immediately answered โSalmon!โ because itโs good for good, delicious, and healthy!
Concluding this section, the girls reminisced on how the members changed from debut to now and what was the first impressions they have of each other. Most of them answered that they all thought that they were all cool and pretty and never expected that they would all meet in their entertainment company and become STAYC.
After the question and answer portion, they performed two other songs, the first being โRUN2Uโ from their EP released this year, YOUNG-LUV.COM, and continued performing with “SO WHAT” from their STAYDOM single.
STAYC vs STAYC: Secret Box!
Heading to the second portion of the fan meet, the girls teamed up into two groups to play against each other in a game called โSecret Boxโ, a popular game where they need to guess what is inside the box without looking and the only way to get a hint is to hold whatโs inside it. The girl’s fates were determined by the leaders of the group playing โBato-Bato pick!โ and the results were the first group that is led by their leader Sumin along with Seeun and Isa, calling themselves TEAM MAGANDA, and the second group led by the maknae J with Yoon and Sieun, their team name being TEAM MASARAP.
They all put their hands in the box to feel what was inside and there ensued a series of funny and chaotic interactions between the members which the fans truly enjoyed.
The final score was 2:2 which means they have to play the 3rd portion of the evening to see the odds and who the winning team is going to be and will be the tie-breaker!
STAYC vs STAYC: Guess My Pose!
Maintaining the same team, the game mechanics are about the other team guessing what the other teamโs representative pose is going to be but similar to the last game, the girls can only try and feel the pose of the opposing team by using their hands and eyes shut close! After 30 seconds of guessing they have to pose within 5 seconds and imitate the pose, they think the other memberโs team has done. The fandom went crazed after seeing the hilarious interactions each member did and trying to outdo each other to make sure the other team donโt guess what their opposing team is trying to copy.
In the end, Team Masarap (J, Yoon, and Sieun) won with additional 2 points, making them the winner of the game! Team Maganda had to face the consequence and dance to Baby Shark in front of the audience, which may be a consequence but an incredible treat for the Filo SWITHs.
STAYC Covers Paligoy-ligoy by Nadine Lustre!
Before concluding their fan meet and their final performances, they wanted to sing a Filipino song and itโs none other than our President Nadine Lustreโs song, Paligoy-Ligoy! Despite it being a fast-paced song, they were able to sing it beautifully.
After singing, they promised that when they come back, they will practice more and sing more Filipino songs!
They expressed that would very much like to come back and asked the fans a favor and take a picture with them.
WEโLL BE THERE, STAYC!
Filo SWITHs went an extra mile for the girls and gave them a surprise besides the banner project they distributed. A video appeared on the LED screen just right after the group picture was taken and itโs a compilation of how Filo SWITHs have been celebrating the memberโs birthdays and anniversaries, which immediately made the girls cry out of happiness! The girls expressed later how happy they are that their fans gave them this surprise, starting with Seeun who said that she is extremely thankful that they got fans who support her and are thankful that they are finally able to meet Filo SWITHs after a long time. She emphasized that she loves the fans so very much!
J mentioned that she is aware that Filo SWITHs have been waiting for them for a long time but by looking at the video, she can now confirm that the fans truly love them. She also said that they will return.
Sieun never imagined that they will end the day crying because of the touching video and also promises to welcome back to which the fans replied enthusiastically, and even though they are not in the same country, STAYC and Filipino SWITHs are always together. She advises the fans to always take care and take care.
Leader Sumin thought at first that there was a small error on the screen but it was a pleasant surprise to see the video instead! She assured that in return, they will do their best to match this energy and see them again, closing it with a thank you and love to the fans.
Yoon said she was not going to cry (but sheโs already crying, poor baby!) but she thanked the fans for celebrating their birthdays, singing their songs, and celebrating their anniversaries and also promises to come back and see everyone again!
Isa closing their ment, Isa said that the Philippines is their first and are grateful that it happened here and spent it with Philippine SWITHs. They really appreciate the full support and repeated that they love the fans and are just extremely thankful. After the tearful messages, they performed another song called โIโLL BE THEREโ from their EP STEREOTYPE and bid the fans goodbye for a bit.
ENCORE
Of course, the show will not end that easily and the Filo SWITHs will not let them go without another performance of one of their hit songs, โASAPโ from their EP STAYDOM, giving their all as always and capping the night with โYOUNG LUVโ from the album YOUNG-LUV.COM while repeating the words โthank youโ and โI love youโ and โMahal kita!โ while bowing to their audience in all corners they can get.
It was truly a remarkable evening and fan events donโt usually happen in our country, let alone it being the first leg of a long line of countries they will perform in, but nothing wavers the dedication the Filipino SWITHs gave to STAYC and the girls delivered and replied the enthusiasm with the same vigor.
Indeed, the girls of STAYC will always remember this night as we are going to remember the same and we patiently wait for future releases of these talented girls who will do and spend a long successful career in the years to come, with SWITHs backing them up every step of the way.

Netflix has released some new character images to showcase the ensemble cast of the upcoming sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which will soon be available to view on the platform. The film introduces a new cast of suspects, led by Daniel Craig in his return role as Detective Benoit Blanc. These suspects are played by some of the most popular actors working today. Kate Hudson, Leslie Odom Jr., Dave Bautista, Janelle Monae, Edward Norton, Jessica Henwick, Kathryn Hahn, and Madelyn Cline are some of the new cast members who will be appearing in the film alongside Daniel Craig. Each of these actors has their own vibrant character poster. Even the Mona Lisa has been given her very own character poster, which lends credence to the theory that the painting plays a significant part in the story.
The suspects from Glass Onion pose in front of glass letters for the movie’s character posters. Line up the pictures right and they spell out “GLASS ONION.”
ONE MORE TIME: The queens of Pinoy Rock are coming together for Tanawin!
Filipino rock queens Acel, Aia, Barbie, Hannah, Kitchie, and Lougee expressed gratitude to the fans for gracing their sold-out concert at Solaire last November 26, Saturday. And this December, the multi-awarded singer-songwriters will reunite for Tanawin: A Thanksgiving and Listening Party.
Due to insistent public demand, Pinoy rock queens Acel Bisa, Aia de Leon, Barbie Almalbis, Hannah Romawac, Kitchie Nadal, and Lougee Basabas are staging another run of their collaborative show at 123 Block in Mandala Park, Mandaluyong City this December 14, 2022, from 8 p.m. onwards.
This time around, the iconic women of the late โ90s to mid-2000s OPM are set to perform together in an outdoor venue known for standing-room-only crowdsโa deliberate contrast to the lavish, state-of-the-art halls of The Theatre At Solaire where they held their sold-out concert last weekend. The alt-rock royalties give a mighty salute to their humble beginnings, by harkening back to the era of playing for quaint hole-in-the-wall productions and channeling the unadulterated vigor of the gig scene with a mix of fearlessness and abandon.
Dubbed Tanawin: A Thanksgiving and Listening Party, the intimate gig serves as a medium to give back to the fans who have shown unwavering support and love through their decades of navigating stardom, setbacks, motherhood, uncertainty, and faith. It also provides an opportunity for the participating acts to preview new material and announce special projects that will see the light of day starting next year.
As the title of the show implies, Tanawin sees the beauty of gazing longingly ahead of time, be it out of reflection, curiosity, or admiration. As singer-songwriters find new meaningful ways to share music and deliver confessionals, the ladies of Tanawin are ready to put out new songs in the same way that theyโre comfortable serenading the crowd with familiar hits.
“While it takes courage to step into the realm of the unknown, it is doable alone,” says Aia de Leon. “But why walk alone when you can party with sisters moving forward?”
Presented by GNN Entertainment Productions, Tanawin marks the second time that the six solo acts will perform together live. From their early days as lead vocalists of late the 90s/early 2000s bands to establishing their identity as individual artists, the six acclaimed singer-songwriters have proven their staying power with sold-out tours and concerts, chart-topping singles and albums, and a dedicated fanbase.
Regular and VIP tickets are available at PHP 1,300 and PHP 2,200 VIP respectively, for a limited number/time only. Get it here: bit.ly/tanawintickets.
Pinoy rock bands dominated radio and television in the late 90s and early 2000s. At its forefront was a slew of female-fronted bands who lent their voices, words, and instruments to produce the anthems of a generation.
On November 26, Acel Bisa of Moonstar88, Hannah Romawac of Session Road, Aia de Leon of Imago, Barbie Almalbis of Barbieโs Cradle, and Lougee Basabas and Kitchie Nadal, both of Mojofly, came together for Tanaw, delivering a four-hour concert filled with emotion and nostalgia.
It started over a meal. On September 14, the ladies gathered for lunch and posted their photos online. Kitchie was absent as sheโs based in Spain but was edited in the comments section. Fans were quick to send love and requests for a concert. Understandably so, seeing them all at one table is probably the 90โs kid equivalent of seeing The Avengers eat shawarma. Gabi Na Naman Productions then picked up and produced the concert.

Fans and Family
These rock icons grew up in the music circuit. Acel, the oldest in the line-up, started singing at 18. Sheโs currently 46. They now carry different last names and have transitioned from cool girls to cool moms. But even after several decades, their voices, instrument expertise, and stage presence remain phenomenal. And they look as youthful as they have in their heydays.
The artists have grown, and so have the fans. During the concert, Lougee joked about how the audience probably had to contact their parents to look after kids, and the reaction confirmed she hit the nail on the head. Over and over, the artists gushed about how unbelievable it was to go from venues like Mayricโs and Club Dredd to selling out the posh halls of Solaire.
The show was a family affair.
Acelโs parents came to watch because finally, there was no smoking or drinking, or cramped spaces. Her Dad is 91, her mom is 80, and it was their first time seeing Acelโs gig. Hannah introduced her daughter to the audience. Taking a cue from Hannah, Barbie had her two kids and husband come up. She pointed to a lot of family on their seats: her dad, her mother who turned older at midnight, mother-in-law who styled her for the occasion, future in-laws, and three brothers with a shout-out to youngest Mark who bought tickets to her show for the first time in her 25-year career. Lougeeโs niece Sam ran up to hand her a poster filled with messages from Samโs classmates and teachers.
The onstage crew was also family. Ali Alejandro is Mojoflyโs drummer and Lougeeโs husband, Karel Honasan who plays bass for Barbie is her in-law. Hannahโs brother, also a member of Session Road and an event staff, dashed to deliver tissue when she cried.
Top of the Bops
When a concert has Moonstar 88โs Sulat as the opener, you just know the rest of the night is going to be glorious. Acelโs set continued with One Love, her first project as a solo musician in 2008 after leaving Moonstar in 2004, and a rendition of Your Universe, a Rico Blanco-original she recorded as part of the Between Maybes movie soundtrack. As the first notes of Torete played, the crowd went ecstatic with recognition, and the venue needed no prompt to sing along.
Hannah was a ball of uncontainable energy as soon as she walked onstage. Leaving You and Blanko played back-to-back, with Hannah admitting that she was purposely delaying her speech to avoid the tears that came inevitably with talking. She shares that her โwhyโ for doing music has evolved. Now at 44, sheโs giving music another go-to model bravery and showing her teenage daughter that she can chase her dreams regardless of age. Cool Off and Suntok sa Buwan rounded off the set.
In the video shown in-between acts, Aia said the best part of music is when it means something to people other than oneโs self, that itโs beautiful when people sing an artist’s song to them. There was no lack of that for Aia as she sang Akap and Sundo. A funky cover of Spoliarium and Taralets kept the set fresh and fun.
Barbie brought her different eras: Torpe from her days as Hungry Young Poets, Tabing Ilog from Barbieโs Cradle, and soloist Barbie Almalbis with Say Goodbye. Hardcore guitarist Barbie also made an appearance with a Metallica Master of Puppets interlude.
Kitchie has been based in Spain for the past five years with her husband and son, but couldnโt pass on the opportunity to hold a concert with good friends. The Kitchie Nadal Medley is an essential addition to any karaoke session and watching it live felt like the holidays came just a bit early. Huwag na Huwag Mong Sasabihin was interspersed with Spanish translations, followed by Same Ground and Bulong.
The last solo of the evening went to Lougee, who played Rally, Tumatakbo, and Mata Her dream of playing a drum duo with husband and drummer Ali Alejandro finally came true. She quipped, โAng bilis ng panahon, kabanda ko lang yan noon, asawa ko na ngayon.โ

Duets and Collaborations
Lougee recalled being a huge fan of Mojofly before becoming its vocalist and called on the bandโs original vocalist Kitchie. Together they sang Kitchieโs favorite Mojofly track Another Day.
The duets continued with Hannah and Aia mashing Imagoโs Rainsong with Sheryl Crowโs Strong Enough. Acel and Barbie performed Moonpools & Caterpillarsโ Soon, with Acel on double duty on guitar and harmonica.
The night would not be complete without all six coming together as a mega group. Lougee, Kitchie, and Barbie were on guitars, with Barbie in charge of solos. The others switched up their instruments – Acel on keys, Aia on bass, and Hannah on drums.
Playing homage to Pinoy rock heavyweights, they played Sampaguitaโs Nosi Balasi and Francis Mโs Kaleidoscope World, followed by a heartfelt rendition of Fleetwood Macโs Landslide. They exited for a moment before heeding requests for an encore with Rivermayaโs Panahon na Naman. By the end of it, they were met with rousing cheers and a standing ovation.
Thinking Back, Moving Forward
The women of Tanaw are sisters in music, motherhood, and faith. They speak of each other with fondness and admiration so warm it radiates. Hannah shared she was content with being a mother and an athlete and leaving music behind, but the rest showed her there was still something more for them.
These ladies are not stopping anytime soon, still releasing original tracks which they also performed at the concert. Acelโs Buhangin was released in April this year, while Barbieโs Days Are Long came out last year. Aia showcased Tao Lang which has yet to land on streaming platforms. Kitchie sang a song she did not mention the title of but notes it’s a life update of what has happened since the last time she was in a Gabi Na Naman gig where she announced her pregnancy.
With the concert done and dusted, the ladies have high hopes for the future – more songs, more collaborations, and more gigs together. Lougee put it best when she talked about her music journey, which likely encapsulates how it is for everyone else – it wasnโt a smooth journey, but true passion persists at the end of it all.
The TANAW concert was presented by GNN Entertainment Productions. Special thanks to GNN Entertainment Productions for the invitation to the press conference and event.
On November 30, Epik High performed a dynamic and explosively fun show at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City. Just a month ago, the Korean hip-hop trio was also part of the line-up for Hallyuween2022. This time, the stage was solely theirs and the Filipino (High Skool) crowd enjoyed every minute of it.
โEpik High is here!โ, Tablo announced before introducing themselves at the beginning of the show. Exactly as their tour and album title go, that declaration was precise yet meaningful. After capping off rounds of successful shows in North America, Seoul, Australia, and other parts of Asia, it was Manilaโs turn to get the full Epik High Experience.
When the lights dimmed, the succinct โHereโ followed by โPrequelโ was enough to get the crowd going. To add to the fire the 2006 setlist staple โFlyโ formally started the party. People were already waving their hands in the air, vibing hard to their music, and this energy continued to flow throughout the evening. The fierce โRosarioโ and โBurj Khalifaโ were met with roaring sing-alongs during the chorus.
โWe stopped by about a month ago, but honestly, it was a little too short. We missed you very much. We’re happy to have you here all to ourselves. We donโt have to share you with anyone. We have your attention. You have ours. You have our love. Good to be back,” Tablo told the crowd.
Being in an Epik High concert was a unique experience. As much as their show inspired a spectacular hip-hop dance pit, it was also a comedy of epic (or epik) proportions. In the middle of performances, the trio pulled their own shenanigans onstage, poking fun at each other every chance they got.
In the middle of their set, Tablo revealed that they were playing a game with one simple rule: the last person to drink water gets to order the other two around. Having won the game, Tablo ordered Mithra Jin who is the maknae (or youngest) of the group to perform the K-pop ritual aegyo (wherein the person has to act cute).
DJ Tukutz was ordered to give the crowd โThe Full Tukutz Experienceโ or โTKXโ for short. He was more than willing to oblige as he showcased not only his skills as a DJ, but also as a rapper who doubles as a substitute vocalist, and his formidable breakdancing chops.
Epik Highโs classic hits were also given their time in the limelight โ โLove Love Loveโ, โOneโ and โFanโ, a combination that only served to amplify the audienceโs energy.
The group also took their special time to thank the crowd with the additional effort of looking somber while a cheesy melancholic song was in the background (reminiscent of the kind you hear during a sad scene in a soap opera).
“We are very grateful for the beautiful night that you gave us tonight. We hope that we made you jump, we made you laugh, we made you smile. For just a little bit of time, we made you forget all the problems in your life. We hope that the memories we made together will last until we meet again,โ Tablo said in between smiles, stifling his laughter. โEven though we can’t solve any of your problems, we hope that we helped a little bit. And I want you to know that you being here tonight helps us deal with our problems as well,” he continued this time, with a sincere tone.
The upbeat techno fury unleashed by โHigh Technologyโ, โNew Beautifulโ and โDonโt Hate Meโ immediately dispelled the bittersweet mood.
โ
It was my third time seeing Epik High live. The first was during their Parade Tour stop in Manila in 2015 and the second was during their set at Someday Theater Pleroma in Seoul in 2019. In all the shows I had attended, they had consistently made it a fun, fulfilling experience for every person in the crowd. Itโs like attending a rave dance party where you just lose yourself in their beats, their music even if you donโt fully know every song that plays โ which is quite frankly one of the best ways to enjoy a concert.
Their latest tour is the most enjoyable one so far. Maybe one reason for it is the bandโs and the crowdโs renewed energy after being held back by the pandemic for almost three years. Surely, though, the new additions to Epik Highโs repertoire from their two-part eponymous album โEpik High is Hereโ has given their music more color and layers. Itโs admirable how Epik High has been in the Korean hip-hop/pop industry since 2003, yet they still manage to keep releasing fresh, innovative songs and collaborations with other artists. Itโs even more amazing how they can keep performing with passion, energy, and humor during their live shows.

Coming to you live: DPR: Regime World Tour in Manila
Setting the Dreamerโs dreams a reality, the collaborative and multi-genre music, and video group, the DPR gang made their Manila debut as a part of their Asian-Pacific leg of theDPR: Regime World Tourat the Filinvest Tent in Alabang on November 30, 2022.
The event headlines DPR Live, DPR Ian, and DPR Cream who electrified thousands of their fans, each act showcasing their own uniqueness and creativity while staying true to their purpose in music: engaging all audiences by actualizing a distinctive audiovisual experience.
Dressed and glammed up, the dreamers showed their enthusiasm for the groupโs long-awaited performances, cheering even before the show even started and successfully executing multiple small fan projects that signify a piece of DPR in their career.

Cream Colored Drive
Grasping the first set, DPR Cream brought his producer skills by setting off the mood for the night, with the trancelike music he played on stage. With nothing but a laptop and his keyboard, Cream showcased his impressive remixing skills in creating music, already giving the fans a treat, albeit his short set with the dreamers.

Coming to you LIVE
Making his landing on stage, Hong Dabin, famously known as DPR Live, immediately made the crowd jump with his song โLEGACYโ, energizing the room with his electrifying performance and giving a nod to the music video of the song in an orange jumpsuit. Staying on theme, an enormous astronaut balloon appeared behind him while performing the songs โS.O.S.โ and โNEONโ, all three songs coming from his first studio album IS ANYBODY OUT THERE?
After the visually pleasing space-themed shtick, he breezed through some of DPRโs previous tracks from the โarchivesโ, โthirstโ, and from his first mini album Coming To You Live, โCheese & Wineโ, โKnow Meโ and โLaputa.โ
Live had a small sit down with the dreamers and threw roses to the crowd as he serenaded them with the song โVENUS.โ He also grooved and flirted with the fans while dancing freely and performing the songs โKiss Meโ and โJasmineโ, which are known classics in his discography.
Jam and Butterflies in your stomach
Live made the Filipino fans extra special as he reminisced that his first crush ever was a Filipina while growing up in Guam. He noted as well that it โโฆfeels like home going here (in Manila)โ as he also shared that his best friend growing up is a Filipino. With this, he performed โJam and Butterflyโ, and transitioned to โYellow Cabโ and in return, the fans made him feel extra special by waving pink wigs, also a reference from the songโs music video.
He then promised they will definitely return but left the fans for now and asked the dreamers to โโฆtext me when youโre freeโ, an excerpt of lyrics from his song โText Me.โ
It was a back-and-forth gimmick from Live and the fans as he let them have fun with transparent lifebuoys he threw to the crowd during his fun and the jumpy song โHula Hoops.โ He also tapped on โSummer Tightsโ, and โGeronimoโ. Of course, a fitting song to perform is โMartini Blueโ while a portion of the dreamers also enjoyed liquor drinks and Live capped his set with DPR Cline joining him on stage with the song โSet It Offโ, a track they created for League of Legends, specifically the South Korean region LCK for the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational online battle arena.

A Fallen Angel
Following DPR Live, a completely different set was performed by Christian Yu or known as DPR Ian, who let the fans have an immersive, intense experience from the get-go. Coming on stage with a horned costume and transforming into a fallen angel, DPR Ian gave the crowd a chilling intro while โMitoโ is playing, which is also the intro song of his first album, Moodswings in this Order. In two tracks coming from the same album, Ian danced to โSo Beautifulโ and โDope Loversโ while unveiling his bedazzled jacket and accentuated red eye makeup, making him even more ethereal looking than we are already used to.
In between the songs, he mentioned how he feels so much of the energy the Filipino crowd is giving, leaving a great first impression as he emphasized that this is his first time in the Philippines. Weโre off to a great start, am I right dreamers?
He continued his setlist by plucking some songs from his newly released second album, Moodswings In to Order, โAvalonโ, and โMiss Understoodโ. One of the biggest treats the dreamers tasted from Ian was bringing off โCalicoโ while dancing under his fedora hat and then proceeding off in playing the bass. We can all agree that not only Ian is a charismatic performer, but also a multi-talented beast, and this kind of eccentricity gracing the Philippine live stage is something that doesnโt happen often.
Ballroom Extravaganza
Itโs safe to say that DPR Ianโs stages are a different experience than most artists and he proved this throughout the night with the diverse stages he carried out.
The roomโs temperature just got a little higher as Ian takes off his jacket and comfortably presented โSometimes Iโm.โ The fast-paced 12th track from his second album is not an easy song to sing but he was able to nail it with the fans singing along, matching his energy. And literally setting the stage on fire, he enacted โ1 Shotโ, turning the whole room red and even more steamy than the last.
Also a natural storyteller, Ian became intimate and shared his insecurities and fears with the fans on how he hated being in the spotlight and was grateful that the fans let him overcome it by letting him share his stories through art. With this, he performed the song โScaredy Catโ with another stage gimmick that is visually appealing as multiple hands appeared on the curtain behind him while performing.
Another impressive stunt he made was when a giant hand grabbed Ian backstage after performing โRibbonโ, a rather funky tune that will want you to get up and dance.
He returned a few minutes later wearing a black oversized fur jacket and performed โMr. Insanityโ, driving the fans a little over the edge. And probably the best stage he has done for the evening was setting the stage on snow while doing a modern interpretative dance of โWinterfallโ, slowing it down to set the mood while โsnowโ drops on him, showing a perfect picture-perfect moment every second.
DPR Ian at the DPR: Regime World Tour in Manila (Photos by Arielle Elep)
He finished his set strong with incredible performances of โNervesโ and โBallroom Extravaganzaโ before DPR Live joined him on stage.
Together, the duo sang โNo Blueberriesโ, which is probably Ianโs biggest hit, and bid the fans goodbye for the night.
Manila Officially Part of the DPR Gang
Of course, the ensemble cannot end the concert easily without performing the song that made the groupโs mark in the music industry as the fans jumped in honor of the song โTo Myselfโ with the chant โDPR WE GANG GANG!โ The whole group: DPR Live, DPR Ian, DPR Cream, and joined by DPR Cline, and the whole DPR crew joined the dreamers with a final photo.
The multi-faceted crew closed off the night with a promise that they will return, as Ian undoubtedly became impressed with the Filipino fans saying, โThe best so far!โ and of course, the members of the crew saying, โMahal kita!โ
The Filipino dreamers answered back with much enthusiasm to this, creating a long-lasting bond with the team, and as passionate as ever, the fans will wait for another concert, hopefully soon and surely with the right hunger in continuing to support the group for releases and more aesthetically pleasing audio-visual art in the future.

The teams began the festivities with a parade of colors that emphasized their team pride and showcased their respective fandoms. Following the oath of sportsmanship, PULP Live World’s Happee Sy-Go took the stage to provide inspiring opening remarks, reminding everyone what the Hallyu community represents.
With Happee Sy-Go’s signal, the games began. All participants took part in the warm-up game of The Boat is Sinking where four fans who outlasted everyone each won a ticket to any PULP show of their choice.
After the warm-up game, the energy is high and the competition is on with the 12 teams competing for the pride of being the first Ripple Champion.
