Why Should You Go to Linya-Linya Land on August 2023

On August 26, if you have no plans or have plans that don’t seem like much fun, here’s an idea: Head on over to Linya-Linya Land at 123 Block, Mandala Park in Mandaluyong. Invite a friend or two and you might just be up for a fun, wholesome experience.

Linya-Linya Land (LLL) 2023 makes its much-anticipated comeback since its successful run in 2019. Co-presented by Gabi Na Naman Productions, the event is guaranteed to give you something fun, with a little dose of that damndamin.

Known for their witty, quirky, and heartrendingly relatable memes on social media, Linya-Linya has found itself ingrained in modern Filipino culture. Boasting a follower base of 900,000 people on Facebook, 240,000 on Instagram, and countless reposts of their memes all over the internet. They also have their podcast on Spotify: The Linya-Linya Show.

So why should you go? Let us count the reasons.

#1 It’s a line-up like no other.

An eclectic mix of some of the most prominent musicians, artists, and comedians await you. Would you have ever imagined seeing the Ebe Dancel play live and seeing Pol Medina Jr. on the same day? Fancy jamming to Autotelic and then laughing your heart out to a variety of stand-up comedians? Ever watched influential artists create their art on the spot? Want to check out some cool shirts while you’re at it? LLL 2023 has all that and more.

#2 Forda concert, of course!

Experiencing live music is always a good reason to go, and LLL 2023 features some of the most talented individuals in the OPM scene. Ebe Dancel, Cheats, Autotelic, Johnoy Danao, Nica Del Rosario, and DJ Ayel Mari offer something different for everyone.

#3 Live Comedy + Live Art

Artworks by Pugad Baboy creator Pol Medina Jr., Kikomachine creator Manix Abrera, and digital artist Rob Cham will be exhibited around the venue. As a bonus, you’ll get to witness live art by landscape artist and environmental activist AG Saño and traditional painter and Linya-Linya co-founder Panch Alvarez. Their live art will be auctioned off and donated to advocacy groups.

A little humor goes a long way. Stand-up comedians GB Labrador, Jeames Caraan, Victor Anastacio, Nonong Ballinan, and Jeleen Cubillas will be there to brighten up your day.

This mixture of performing arts is something you won’t get to experience in just any event, and LLL 2023 has them in one place, in one day.

Another bonus: There will be an open mic for the audience. If you want to be heard, it might be a good chance for you.

#4 Be part of the community and its advocacy.

LLL 2023 is also expanding its event to include its advocacies. The company is known to be active in supporting advocacies and they incorporated that into this event. A number of advocacy groups like AHA Learning Center and Community Learning Hub will have their booths in the venue. You can inquire about their cause, sign up as volunteers and donate to them during the event.

#5 Linya-Linya Land 2023 will be a fun, holistic celebration.

As their tagline goes: “gets ka namin”. When we went to their cozy office in Libis, Quezon City, co-founders Ali Sangalang and Jim Bacarro were kind enough to give us a rundown of what to expect in LLL 2023 as well as a brief history of their company.

At its core, Linya-Linya is more than a shirt brand. As a content company, they pride themselves on the words, ideas, and thoughts that connect them with people, and that is what people wear and take with them.

“LLL will be a celebration of making it past the pandemic, and we’re giving back to the community that kept us alive,” Jim said. Ali explained that there are a lot of talented Filipino artists and that they are happy to provide a space for them to share their talents and connect them with our advocacies at the same time. “Magiging venue ito to enjoy, to have fun, but at the same time, meaningful experience siya… Iyon ang goal namin sa event na ‘to: maging masaya tayo pero may bitbit din tayo pauwi na natutunan at pwedeng gawin, he added.
