โKumusta? Daming tao!โ were the first words Rini spoke at the Manila stop of his Past The Naked Eye Tour. The Philippine-born, Australia-raised singer-songwriter filled Samsung Hall on July 19 for his first gig in the country.
The setlist was packed with roughly 20 songs on the list, including his latest single My Luv, fan-favorites Red Light and Aphrodite, a cover of Juan Karlosโ Buwan, and megahits My Favorite Clothes and Meet Me in Amsterdam. Known to ruminate about love, Rini shared that My Favorite Clothes was written after a break-up while Meet Me in Amsterdam is about a girl from Germany who he had met online but never got around to meeting after he pursued music in 2017.
The rains and heavy traffic in the middle of the work week couldnโt dampen the crowdโs anticipation. The outpouring of support came not just from fans, but from his family who came from near and far โ from Castillejos, Zambales to as far as Nebraska. It was their first time watching him live, and in true Pinoy fashion, they all wore custom orange tees and brought a huge banner. Rini was noticeably feeling kilig onstage, saying hi to the aunts and uncles and even leaving the stage to say hello to his lola.
The venue was intimate and instruments were sparse, with only keys, drums, and Rini occasionally on guitar โ a simple set-up that highlighted Riniโs soulful, seductive vocals. Though the fans chanted walang uuwi, the concert eventually had to end and Rini was off to what we could only assume was a fun family reunion.
Six months since his first visit to the Philippines, South Korean actor Kim Seon-ho is back for his fans for a second fan meeting in Manila called “Love to Meet Our Good Boy,” held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday, July 22, all thanks to the number 1 leading Philippine clothing and lifestyle brand in the Philippines, โBENCH/.
The jam-packed Smart Araneta Coliseum welcomed him with loud, shattering cheers and a heartfelt greeting from Filipino Seonhohadas, who had longed for his return. Seon Ho was amused and couldn’t contain his joy as he saw his adoring fans fill the big dome. He said, “I really really thank you; I feel grateful for this warmest welcome Iโve ever had.” “Miss ko na kayo, Salamat po.”
Hosted by Robi Domingo, the fan meet started with a photo call for all his fans waiting to get a good glimpse of the actor. Followed by “Story Time” where he shares back stories with some of his interesting photos from “Touching the Void” his comeback project since “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha”. The actor shared a meaningful piece from the play as interpreted: “Whatever challenges you have in life, keep pushing. Don’t give up until you achieve what your goal is and what you want to achieve.” For people who donโt know, he began his career on stage and appeared in numerous plays before making his screen debut in 2017. During this segment, Seon Ho shared that he doesnโt have favorite actors because his seniors are great actors and actresses. Because of their footsteps, they were able to learn from their mistakes and be better actors.
They also talked about his recent movie, “The Childe,” which earned rave reviews from reviewers. When asked how he felt after learning that he would be playing a different role than usual, he shared that he tried his best and looked at a lot of references to be able to showcase this role well. He also shared during this segment his favorite movie, “If Only,” and reenacted his pose from “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha,” saying “talaga pong nahiya ako.” During this segment, he was asked about his prominent dimples. He said, “When I was young, my dimples were my complex, but when I grew up and became an actor, a lot of people liked my dimples.”
Moments for fans, the GAME TIME:
Lucky fans were picked to take part in games that brought them even closer to Kim Seon Ho personally. Being playful, shy, and down-to-earth, he welcomed his fans and was cool to play with them. Our personal favorite was the “Pictionary” segment, where Seon Ho was asked to sketch, and his fans guessed. Imagine being so near him, shaking his hands, and taking home a one-of-a-kind piece of art from Han Ji-Pyeong himself! A definite treat for Filipino Seonhohada indeed!
Another game was Spot the Difference.” This segment gave the big dome a 2 Days 1 Night vibe when Hong Du Sik’s eyes were placed on a challenge. As expected, he was able to spot all the differences in each picture despite the time limit.
What is a Manila visit without Pinoy Henyo? Seon Ho-ssi was able to play this iconic game with all the fans, and he was able to guess all the words correctly too! Speaking of fan service, Kim Seon-ho, who played Jung Je Yoon at 100 Days My Prince, cooked his favorite food, tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), and one lucky fan got to try it and left him a message. Speaking of Chief Hong to Chef Hong real quick! He shared, “I am not sure if I am doing this right, but I will do my best.” He said he had to only eat tteokbokki once a week, which is a “sad story,” and that he enjoyed halo-halo and lechon during this visit.
As the fan meeting was about to wrap up, Filipino Seonhohada prepared a fan project. It was heartwarming, and it even doubled when his first visit made him feel their Immense love and heartfelt connection. From “Ngumiti ka naman diyan, ako bahala sa ‘yo” to “Mahal Ko kayo,” they never failed to make him feel flattered and excited to go back to the country, welcoming him to his second home away from Seoul.
Knowing his warm, shy personality, Kim Seon Ho reciprocated the love, leaving a message for his growing Filipino Seonhohada. He said, “Honestly, I really missed you guys so much. Itโs very unexpected that I’ll be cooking tteokbokki in front of a lot of people, playing games, and reenacting some scenes from my dramas. As one of the fans said, we are one family, and I am so happy to be part of this family. I would like to thank BENCH for this chance, this support to be with my fans. As an actor, I will cherish today as an unforgettable memory. Thank you very much!”
It was indeed a sweet, romantic Saturday for everyone who came and showed up to see the man behind the most beloved K-Drama characters. The event was a perfect opportunity for fans to get closer to every Benchsetter visiting the country. Meeting Bench Good Boy was a validation of the growing family that will keep Kim Seon Ho from going back to the country.

PhilPop Himig Handog Songwriting Festival continues its commitment to empowering the future generation of music industry professionals and hitmakers through its sustainable, world-class mentorship program.
The collaborative project, which was produced and presented by songwriting institutions PhilPop and Himig Handog, kicked off with a Digicamp series that is carefully designed to develop the skill set of aspiring participants in the fields of songwriting, music arrangement and recording, branding, marketing, career development, and intellectual property.
After organizing a two-month workshop-based training and songwriting class for some of the most promising industry hopefuls, the countryโs top songwriting competition has finally selected 12 of the best entries that will advance to the main competition:
In alphabetical order, here are the finalists who made it to the PhilPop Himig Handog Songwriting Festival:
Luzon / Bulacan: Rinz Ruiz โ โPapahiramโ Luzon / Laguna: Francis Contemplacion โ โATMโ Metro Manila: Tiara Cinco โ โWag Paglaruanโ Metro Manila: Kevin Yadao โ โGhostwriterโ Metro Manila: Rob Angeles โ โMHWGโ Metro Manila: Geca Morales โ โLangit Lupaโ Metro Manila: Alvin Serrito โ โKurbaโ Visayas / Bacolod: Shantel Lapatha โ โTulalaโ Visayas / Cebu: Relden Campanilla โ โDili Nalangโ Visayas / Cebu: Jimmy Grajo โ โSalamat (Nga Wala Na Ta)โ Visayas / Bohol: Keith Quito โ โBuhiโ Mindanao / Davao: Maric Gavino โ โTaliwalaโ
The entries went through multiple rounds of adjudication, headed by an esteemed panel of Board Members, producers, key leaders, prominent songwriters, and decision-makers affiliated with both PhilPop and Himig Handog.
According to ABS-CBN Music Creative Director Jonathan Manalo, one of the considerations for picking the top songs was based on quality in terms of songwriting and composition. He explains, โIt was important to us that the songs were up to the standard that were set by both PhilPop and Himig Handog. We also wanted to see how effective the fellows were in applying the lessons and insights that theyโve learned from the PhilPop Himig Handog DigiCamp. We wanted to challenge the fellows to break borders and push the boundaries of Filipino pop music. Lastly, we also had to factor in the appeal and marketability of the entries since our goal was also for the top songs to appeal to a wide range of Filipino music listeners.โ
This yearโs PhilPop Himig Handog Songwriting Festival promises to be bigger and bolder as two of the most important songwriting organizations in the country team up to bring export-ready Pinoy Pop to the crux of global dominance. With combined resources and expertise to discover potential greats that could command cultural conversations beyond borders, the collaborative project aims to promote OPM on a scale thatโs never been done before: break new territories and captivate the international audience with music that is distinctly global yet very Pinoy.
โWeโre excited with this batch of finalists from the PhilPop Himig Handog Songwriting Festival because itโs going to showcase how talented and brilliant Filipino Songwriters are,โ said PHILPOP Executive Director Dinah Remolacio. โFans of both PhilPop and Himig Handog can expect a diverse set of songs, not just in style but also in terms of representation and languages, among others. We also believe that longtime listeners of both organizations can also expect fresh tracks that have the potential to really grow the fanbase of Filipino Pop music. The songs of the Top 12 Finalists are a great representation of the current feel and the latest trends in Filipino Pop Music.โ
PhilPop Himig Handog Songwriting Festival is an initiative of Himig Handog and PhilPop Music Foundation. This yearโs game-changing event remains unwavering in its obligation to come up with innovative approaches in music-making and songwriting that are at par with international standards. The event is co-presented by Maynilad, Smart Communications, Inc., and TuneCore.

A new story of The Boyz and Philippine The Bs unfolded last July 15 at The Big Dome as the boy group brings their ZENERATION Tour to the country.
Zeneration, according to Kevin, represents people with a common state of mind who experience the same generation and culture โ like The Boyz and The Bs. It is a stage to show a new story of Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, New, Q, Ju Haknyeon, Sunwoo, Eric, and their fans in 2023.
And true to these words, a new story was told last July 15 at the Araneta Coliseum. Lightsticks up and cheers loud and proud, The Bs in the Philippines welcomed with resounding excitement the boy group to their first solo concert in the country. THE BOYZ 2ND WORLD TOUR: ZENERATION IN MANILA was a promise made true and a dream realized. Although the boys have performed on the local concert stage a couple of times, with the latest visit happening in April this year for an omnibus concert, the July 15 concert marked their highly-awaited first solo concert in the Philippines since their debut in 2017.
Performing a total of 20 songs in a concert that spanned more than two hours, The Boyz took The Bs on a journey โtraveling through time from their debut to their present zeneration โ with a setlist that saw them perform their songs from 2017 to 2023.
Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, New, Q, Ju Haknyeon, Sunwoo, and Eric began the show with “Ego” and “Reveal” from their debut studio album, Reveal, released in 2020. They then allowed the crowd to marvel at their performances of “Awake” and “ROAR” from their 2023 extended play, Be Awake.
And the ultimate throwback came on in the second set of performances, when the members, dressed in casual/school looks, brought back “I’m Your Boy” from their debut EP, The First, followed by “Text Me Back” from their second EP. The Start, “KeePer” from their first single album, The Sphere, and “Only ONE” from their third EP, The Only.
A+ for effort should be granted to The Boyz also as they made it their serious business to learn Filipino and communicate their words to the fans in the local language. More than the usual “mahal ko kayo“, “mabuhay“, and “salamat po“, we got to hear sweet and adorable messages of “Ako si Eric! Ang inyong boyfriend!”, โMabuhay! Kamusta ang beshy ko? Nagagalak akong makita kayong muli.โ, “Philippine The B, maganda! Natutuwa akong nandito.”, “Na-miss na-miss na-miss na ko kayo.”, among others.
The energy, as Jacob described, was definitely crazy as there was no shortage of cheer and applause from the crowd. The passionate enthusiasm intensified with the continuation of the performances of “Whisper”, “Water”, “Thrill Ride”, and “D.D.D”. With a short break, the members, handsome in white, returned on stage in a dreamy medley of “Lucid Dream”, “Daydream”, “Butterfly”, and “Wings”. And the dreams then turned into the most beautiful nightmare as Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, New, Q, Ju Haknyeon, Sunwoo, and Eric re-emerged for the “Nightmares” stage.
Contrasting the white outfits they donned prior, The Boyz took on their charisma to a new high with a black-and-white ensemble for “Russian Roulette”, and “Insanity”. With a total of 20 songs, the setlist was packed with tracks from the boy group that showcased their different colors and charms โyet there are well-loved songs that unfortunately did not make the cut. But The Boyz, in all their love for their The Bs, understood and treated them with a snippet of “The Stealer” and promised to return to perform all the songs their fans wanted to see. Ending the set of charisma-high stages, the boy group performed their 2021 hit, “Maverick”, from the single album of the same name.
The Boyz then diverted from the usual encore fit as they came back on stage looking princely in white tops and black bottoms โready to serenade The Bs with “Spring Snow” and “Horizon”.
Eric then greeted The Bs with the sweetest “Happy five years and seven months to my forever”, adding he wants to be with The Bs forever. And one after the other, the members relayed their gratitude to the fans who have become their horizon. “I think each one of you will be remembered in my mind like a photo. Thank you. See you.” New said.
Jacob also expressed his appreciation to the fans who showed up despite the heavy rains. “From start to finish, you guys have been amazing. Your energy is amazing. It’s been a long time since my ears have hurt from the screaming. Thank you so much for your love and your energy. I feel like we’ll be able to take this and work harder to come back with better music for you guys. We will be back. Please wait for us. Thank you so much! Mahal kita,” he added. Haknyeon and Q echoed this promise to come back and give their best.
Hyunjae reflected on their first solo concert in the Philippines, noting that it made up for all the years they have been unable to perform for their Filipino fans. “I really wanna say to our Filipino The Bs that we thank you so much. Today, I really had a happy moment with you. We will come back.” Younghoon also expressed his happiness to have had the concert and asked fans to look forward to their comeback in August. Similarly, Juyeon thanked fans for coming today โ for giving him energy today. “Let’s cheer each other up and have happy lives together.”
Sunwoo said his farewell message while adorably granting fans’ requests randomly in the middle of his speech. “Thank you so much for enjoying the show with us and we will come back to the Philippines with more energy,” he added. Sangyeon got his Filipino words out one last time, saying “Natutuwa akong makilala kayo. Nandito ako para makita ka.” He went on to say that the Philippines always gives him good memories. “I wanna come here more often and see our Philippine The Bs more often too. I love Philippines! Mahal kita.”
“Itโs actually so crazy โcause Iโve been there. I have been where you guys are standingโฆ I know whatโs that like. And to have someone do that for me and for The Boyz. Itโs actually so amazing and I feel so blessed today. You guys, every time we come to the Philippines, you have unmatched energy and I canโt get enough of it. Thank you, guys, so so much for making time for us tonight. I promise weโll be back.”
KEVIN
Eric also expressed his astonishment at the Philippine concert crowd’s seemingly unmatched energy. “I rarely see people with louder voices than me. Every single one of you here beat meโฆ Shout out to you guys and congrats. Thank you.” And with those words, The Boyz once again โfor the last time that eveningโ took the stage with their 2022 single, “Timeless”, from Be Aware.
As Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, New, Q, Ju Haknyeon, Sunwoo, and Eric exited the stage, handwritten letters from them filled the screenโ letters of love and gratitude to The Bs who, throughout every zeneration, has stood by them. And this gratitude went both ways as The Bs made sure the members knew how they, too, got through the dark times with The Boyz and their music.
THE BOYZ 2ND WORLD TOUR: ZENERATION IN MANILA was presented by DNM Entertainment and In2une Entertainment. Special thanks to DNM Entertainment for the invitation.

Formed in Wrexham Wales in 2012, the band โ which started out simply as a fun project that supported similar artists in the UK โ rose to international acclaim after years of hard work on the road, touring the United States and ultimately, landing spots on the Vans Warped Tour in the US. Influenced by groups like Blink-182, New Found Glory, Green Day, and The Descendents, the group combined a modern flavor and their trademark sincere lyricism and won over fans of the genre in no time. Currently, Neck Deep has four studio albums under their collective belt, namely their 2014 debut Wishful Thinking, 2015โs Lifeโs Not Out To Get You, 2017โs The Peace and The Panic, and the 2020 release All Distortions Are Intentional.
And just this year, the band released two fiery singles that fans completely dug: the race-to-the-finish โHeartbreak of the Centuryโ (released in February) and their most recent โMeet You There 2.0โ a collaboration with UK pop-punk outfit Busted, released last May. Two more reasons to get hyped and tell all your friends.
So there is no need to ask โWhere Do We Go When We Go?โ because Neck Deep goes full circle as they return to the same venue they played both in 2016 and 2018: The Skydome at SM North Edsa. The show happens on September 22nd, 2023, but diehard fans will be stoked to know that tickets go on sale as early as July 31st through SM Tickets outlets nationwide and can be purchased at www.smtickets.com.

We’re less than a month away from the release of Gal Gadot’s Heart of Stone, and as promotion continues, Netflix is providing fresh details and a clearer look at the ensemble. The film is being marketed as a globe-trotting spy thriller, as the streaming service looks to launch its own series in the genre with Gal Gadot. The streamer has unveiled a fresh series of character posters that give us a nice peek at the eclectic cast of the upcoming film.

In the new poster, Gadot is portrayed as the titular spy, with a stern expression on her face. She is followed by Alia Bhatt (RRR, Brahmastra), who will play the film’s antagonist. After establishing herself as a top performer in the Indian cinema business with a succession of successful leading roles, this would be Bhatt’s first turn as a villain, and her admirers can’t wait. The next poster depicts Jamie Dornan as Gadot’s ally Parker. The final poster introduces us to the character of Matthias Schweighรถfer.

The film follows Gadot as Rachel Stone, an elite agent with a life-altering secret that is bigger than her position with MI6. She is the only thing standing between the Charter, a mysterious and powerful organisation, and the loss of its most important and dangerous asset, the Heart, which Bhatt’s character, Keya, is planning to steal.
Heart of Stone debuts exclusively on Netflix on August 11.
