Being multi-talented, it’s no surprise that Jinyoung met and entertained his Ahgases with a night filled with surprises and performances. We dare to say that he provided one of the best fan experiences we’ve ever seen in the K-Pop world.
Hereโs what went down with the heartthrob’s memorable night with the Ahgases, who never failed to paint the town green whenever a GOT7 member turn up on the Philippine shores.
Up close and Personal
A playful and confident Jinyoung greeted the media for a press conference ahead of his scheduled fan concert last Sunday. The questions highlighted the actor/musicianโs career as a solo artist and as an actor and how heโs able to navigate both of them. He made some lighthearted digs with Kring Kim, who was hosting the press conference, further showcasing his charm.
When asked what things changed the most about himself in the past decade, Jinyoung replied that the way he spoke has changed. He mentioned he used to speak in a dialect, but now he speaks in a Seoul dialect. He also made a playful comment about how he got taller along with his muscles!
Ahead of his fan meeting that Sunday, Jinyoung met the members of the press and shared his experiences as a solo artist, acting, and more.
Jinyoung, who has played notable roles throughout the past ten years, was asked about his greatest challenges. Humbly and honestly speaking, the actor said that all of them looked simple in the beginning but they became challenging as he was building the character, so he found all the roles difficult to play. Heโs currently filming โWitchโ a webtoon-based drama and currently plays a character called โDong-Jin.โ Jinyoung expressed that the character is challenging as he had to put a lot of thought into playing it.
He was asked about his future acting goals when the subject of acting came up. As a growing actor, he stated that he wants to test all the parts and play on their many charms, as well as indicate that he wants to play a character his age. When asked if he had any seniors who he looked up to or admired, he cited the veteran actor Lee Byung-Hun, whom he respected and who was recently happy to meet.
As a multi-talented artist, Jinyoung also embarked on a solo music career like the rest of the GOT7 members. He jokingly voiced out that he liked that the preparation time is shorter compared to having all 7 members of GOT7 prepare together. But officially answering the question, despite the short preparation time, he found that being with the members is more enjoyable and he feels lonely at times without them. With a blossoming solo career comes the Rendevouz tour. When was if there were any rendezvous or encounters that he will never forget in his life, he answered having a concert with GOT7 and releasing an album after a long break and after the pandemic is something memorable for him. He said this kind of memory has hit his big, especially performing right in front of the fans.
Ahead of his fan meeting that Sunday, Jinyoung met the members of the press and shared his experiences as a solo artist, acting, and more.
Jinyoung was moved by the thought that despite the fact that GOT7 hasn’t toured in a while, the fans are still eagerly awaiting their arrival. The next time he performs, he wants to bring the GOT7 members along so they may join him and enjoy a joyful performance as a way of showing his appreciation to the fans.
When asked what are his plans for 2023, Jinyoung expressed he wanted to complete the fan meets first, the one in the Philippines and Taiwan successfully. He also wants to do his best with the current drama heโs filming until the end of shooting.
Toward the end of the press conference, he gave the fans a short message:
โI want to thank Philippines Ahgase for waiting for me for such a long time although I was not able to come here for a long time. To make up for the years that we have not met, I want to communicate with the fans by always showing new aspects of me. And thank you always, and I will most definitely come back.โ
PARK JINYOUNG
One of the notable things about his answers is even though they are mostly about him, he is still able to squeeze in something about his group, GOT7, a true testament that even though they are all on their solo careers, the brotherhood still stands.
The Rendezvous
Jinyoung opened the fan meeting with the song โComing Homeโ from JJ Project and his solo song โCotton Candyโโ from his recently released album CHAPTER 0: WITH, which Jinyoung co-wrote and co-produced. He mentioned that he started creating the album around 2-3 years ago.
From the get-go, the concert felt familiar yet new as Jinyoung immediately connected with the fans. There were a lot of back-and-forth jabs and shouts of love between him and the Ahgases. When pointed to doing so many activities and asked how the people around him feel, he mentioned he doesnโt think about it that much as the fans are important and he is doing all the things he does for the fans. A notable moment was when Kring Kim, the lovely host for the evening pointed out that the crowd in a section has caught Jinyoungโs attention a lot with their hyper energy and Jinyoung said, โTHIS IS AHGASEโ, solidifying his closeness with the fandom.
This segment highlights Jinyoungโs acting roles over the years. On stage, four bears recorded his voice. The phrases recorded were keywords related to the time and drama that Jinyoung has accomplished previously.
The first bear said, โAspiring Actorโ which talked about โMy Love Eun-dongโ, in which he reminisced about the role when he was 22 years old. He played a middle school student, who is innocent and sweet. Jinyoung mentioned that playing the character helped shape who he is. The role made him realize that there are things that he can improve in and wanted to do better as an actor. He also re-enacted a moment where he tapped dance for the fans! A proud moment to be his fan isnโt it? Thereโs no better feeling than to see someone you already look up to, do even better than he doing all ready to make you prouder!
The second bear uttered, โBaby Prosecutorโ for the drama, โThe Devil Judge.โ And in line with the character he played, he was asked what superpower he wants to have to which he answered โteleportationโ so he can visit Ahgases more often.
The third bear surprisingly talked in Tagalog, โtumingin sa labas ng bintanaโ, which hinted at the movie โChristmas Carolโ in which he played two roles, a challenging acting venture as both of the characters he played carried intense personalities. The actor mentioned that he learned a lot from playing such characters and at first, he doubted if he would be able to execute good acting for the movie but he found it enjoyable as he did it and learned a lot from the experience. Playing the characters made him realize that it can expand his acting skills and use them in the future.
The fourth bear uttered, โCutie Person, Babiโ was a hint at the second season of the TV show, Yumi’s Cells. He compared himself to Yoo Babi who he mentioned he jokingly had a similarity in terms of attitude: theyโre both good guys. Some of the Ahgases teased him and said otherwise. Kring Kim read a quote from the writers of Yumi Cells that no one can do it better than Jinyoung and they wonโt continue a third season if he wasnโt playing the character.
On the question of what Yumi’s Cells means to him, he mentioned that it was again the acting experience he learned from doing such characters and learned a lot from the seniors that he played the characters with. He expressed that these are little wisdom he picked up and wants to use in the future for other roles. I guess we can all expect more TV dramas and movies from Jinyoung and see more sides of him down the road!
Jinyoungโs role model in terms of acting: JAY B 🙌🏻
Jinyoung said he is honored to have had the opportunity to act alongside Jay B and asked the audience, โHave you watched Dream Knight?โ
One of the most exciting parts of the evening is when Jinyoung prepared a segment where he picked four fans from the lottery box that contained the seat and ticket numbers of fans from the VIP section! The lucky four fans will be going to the stage and will take a picture with Jinyoung using a polaroid camera! Midway through his ticket selection, the singer/actor realized that he will only spend a night with the Philippine Ahgases so he decided to pick another fan, which totals up to 5 lucky fans to get on stage and meet him up close and personal.
One of the notable fans that went up the stage has been a fan of Jinyoung since the beginning of his career, all the way back from JJ Project to GOT7. A well-deserved hug of the night (because yes, Jinyoung hugged ALL of the fans that went to the stage to meet him) was given to the lucky fan, surely gratitude for the continuous support she has given the talented Park Jinyoung.
From putting a towel on the skirted fans who he sat down next to, to endless posing requests and more hugs, plus an additional lucky fan just because the Ahgases requested one more lucky girl whose hands he took, it surely was an image of bliss and what those fanfiction moments we all just read about. Jinyoung looked comfortable and genuinely looked like he was having the time of his life himself.
The handsome man of the hour wanted to share more with the Ahgases of his precious memories by showing never-before-seen pictures. He shared pictures taken by his members (and he said these are special because heโs always the one who takes their pictures), a picture of him in a military uniform (that gathered protests around the theater because of a dread we all fear our male idols have to go through), a picture of him pre-debutโway before debuting in JJ project and memorizing lines and a picture from the location where they shot the photobook, โHey Guysโ all revealed from the syllables of โJinyoungโs Momentsโ respectively.
When asked if there are ways how preserves all the pictures he took, Park Jinyoung answered that he does have a program that keeps all the pictures heโs taken over the years and mysteriously revealed that all of the pictures he got, including the members of GOT7, are there. He previously added that his phone is a โdangerous phoneโ because it has way too many secrets and most probably embarrassing pictures of the seven.
When you thought meeting the fans on stage was over, Jinyoung prepared another portion of the evening to meet his fans up close.
Before the fans entered the theater, they were asked to write small messages in post-its and placed them on a board. During this segment, Jinyoung carefully chose 6 messages from 6 fans and asked them to go up the stage for a gift!
Fans went a whole 360 degrees from the messages: from long heartfelt messages from fans to Ahgases putting stickers on the post-its, hard-hitting one-liners, to a fan asking him on a dance battle (he did do the dance battle!), it was not only fun for the fans who were lucky to go on stage but also to the rest of Ahgases who witnessed these glorious once in a lifetime meet and greets. It was a bonus that he gave them gifts, but to actually hug and even interact with THE Park Jinyoung was something else. The segment ensued various reactions from the crowd and Jinyoung himself as the fans on stage shone with the artist. He mentioned that the fans might be getting a euphoric kick but heโs the one who felt a huge wave of happiness from being able to give the fans happiness.
The second stop of the Rendevouz
While preparing for the second portion of the evening, Mr. Park Jinyoung showed his fans a special behind-the-scenes video of him recording music and doing a dance practice. He emerged wearing a bright blue fluffy sweater and greeted the fans once again.
When asked where did he get the passion and energy he showed in the video, he said that when he realized that people are waiting for him, it motivates him to just keep on going and going and do his best. I think itโs safe to say that the inspiration comes from both ways, Jinyoung and the Ahgases, and Jinyoung did not want to disappoint the fans.
That is why he prepared even more events through the night. He sang a โHappy Birthdayโ to the fans who were celebrating their birthdays in February and asked the fans who were specifically celebrating their birthdays that day to come up on stage! 6 fans in total were celebrating and even though there were only 3 gifts originally for this segment, Jinyoung insisted that they all come up to the stage and give the other 3 gifts, all signed by the man himself.
Just like the first two portions of the evening which included laughter, happiness, and funny moments with fans, this portion was not any different. What made this segment special though was the personalized birthday scrolls Jinyoung gave to the first 3 fans, with customized messages requested by the fans themselves. How lucky it is to meet your idol on your birthday and have him wish you the happiest birthday with gifts? Not everyone can share this experience!
To seal off the first part of the evening, (yes, that was only part one of the evening), he felt energized and felt like it was just the beginning of a concert. Jinyoung sang ballads to the fans that were included in his album Chapter 0: WTH. He passionately sang โLetterโ and โAnimalโ, and beautifully at that.
He showed a video of his career progression right after and jumped on the stage with an energetic classic song he released with JJ Project, called โBounce.โ Of course, a GOT7 medley is a must for a GOT7 member so from the feel-good songs โAโ to โJust Rightโ, and transitioning to the fast-paced โHard Carryโ to โYou Calling my Nameโ, Jinyoung did not miss a beat. He was out of breath after the performance before the sweet fan project the Ahgases prepared.
Ahgases surprised the singer-actor with a fan video message. The 6-minute video featured fans speaking in different dialects of the country, taken from all across the Philippines, and heartwarming messages with clips of him and the rest of the GOT7 members playing in the video. The fans raised their banner while singing his song โSleep Wellโ and you can tell that there were not enough words to describe the incredible love and effort the fans gave him. They commemorated the moment with a picture of the fans and Jinyoung and he was almost speechless after the dedication.
Jinyoung dedicated the pre-encore song to the members of GOT7 and to remember the happy memories he had with them which is titled, โOur Miracle.โ
Encore
The encore is every bit as enjoyable and memorable as the rest of the fan meet as this time we get to see Jinyoungโs artistic side in music. He sang, โSleep Wellโ and gave a message to the fans that he will be leaving for a long period, (literally choked up when he said this because we all know what this means) but thanked the fans anyway for waiting for him. The GOT7 member then mentioned that he wasnโt expecting that heโll be standing in a fan meet without the rest of his members. Still, he expressed his delight to be able to stand on his own, sealing his successful solo artistry. He hopes that his performances and efforts can be a driving force to look forward to the next time Jinyoung and the fans meet again.
After this, he performed the song โDiveโ, a 2021 single he released, and โLast Pieceโ, a GOT7 song from their album Breath of Love: Last Piece, and โNANANAโ from the album GOT7. He dedicated the song โHome Runโ to the groupโs leader, Jay B.
It seemed like Park Jinyoung did not want to go home as he continued to talk to the fans and the Filo Ahgases chanting our ever-famous, โWalang uuwi!โ as we certainly donโt want our idol to go home either. But all good things come to an end and Jinyoung sealed the night with the song โEncoreโ by GOT7.
Jinyoung thanked the fans for the hundredth time that night before saying goodbye and expresses his hope that when he comes back to the Philippines, it will be with all the members of GOT7. You can tell that the beloved group is more of a family than a bunch of friends in a band with the Ahgases always two steps behind wherever they go.
Indeed, GOT7 and the Ahgases are a sealed deal forever and we are all waiting for the moment that one day they do come back together, finally ending the tingi concert version saga of the group, and it will all finally feel like home.
โHello, this is Park Jinyoung. Itโs already been 10 years since we have been together. I cannot express all the love that I have received so far but I wanted to show my love for you, in this letter, although it may be a bit short. Last year, I participated in lots of projects including a show GOT7 project and a solo album. I was so happy spending busy days because you guys, my fans were with me in all those moments like always. I was able to have enjoyable and fulfilling experiences. We have so many differences including nationality and gender but we are connected as one and I can feel that we have the same hearts. Although after this precious moment, we have a short goodbye, like always I will do my best wherever I am so that I can proudly meet my fans. I will wait for the day that we can meet again. I think that our faith and hearts can always be connected. โTill the next time we meet, please stay happy and hold healthy always. Goodbye.โ

Black Knight is an exciting sci-fi K-drama series that will premiere on Netflix in the second quarter of 2023. Black Knight, which is based in a dystopian future, has all the makings of being another South Korean smash hit on Netflix.

The webtoon ‘Delivery Knight,’ created by Lee Yoon Kyun, will serve as the inspiration for the next South Korean original series that will be distributed by Netflix. Cho Ui Seok, who is most known for his work as a screenwriter and director on Cold Eyes and Master, is in charge of directing the series.
By the year 2071, barely 1% of the world’s population has made it through the ravages caused by the deadly air pollution that has spread throughout the earth. Because of the severe air pollution, those who have survived have been forced into a strict social class and are required to wear oexygen masks whenever they leave their homes. This society has been reorganized. The citizens rely on the Knights, who are a group of specially trained delivery drivers, to provide for their needs and to defend them from potential criminals.
When the first-look still of Kim Woo-bin portraying the legendary deliveryman โ5-8โ was released in January, it sparked a wave of excitement among fans. In โa world without airโ, the deliverymen, also known as the black knights, deliver oxygen and necessities to the 1% of the population who lived through the extreme desertification.
The first teaser poster for Black Knight offers a glimpse into the seriesโs setting, a world completely engulfed in sand. A used oxygen mask lies discarded on a barren landscape, where the ruins of collapsed high-rise buildings loom in the distance with no signs of life. A figure resembling the legendary deliveryman 5-8 walks away from a massive truck, leaving viewers with a sense of intrigue for the story to unfold.
The bar is set high, as all eyes are on the fantastic ensemble of seasoned actors. Kim Woo-bin plays the legendary deliveryman, a.k.a โ5-8โ, Song Seung-heon as the only heir to the powerful Cheonmyeong Group, Kang You-seok as a boy who dreams of becoming a deliveryman and Esom as the Defense Intelligence Command major. These characters bring depth and complexity to the narrative, each with unique perspectives and motivations.
TO RELEASE HIS SOUL-BARING NEW ALBUM โ-โ (SUBTRACT) ON 5 MAY Through ASYLUM/ATLANTIC (PRE ORDER)
Ed Sheeranย is set to release his new albumย โ-โ (Subtract)ย – the last in his decade-spanning mathematical album era – onย 5 May 2023ย throughย Asylum/Atlantic. An album that revisits Edโs singer/songwriter roots, and one that was written against a backdrop of personal grief and hope, โ-โ (Subtract) presents one of the biggest stars on the planet at his most vulnerable and honest.
In Edโs own words – โI had been working on Subtract for a decade, trying to sculpt the perfect acoustic album, writing and recording hundreds of songs with a clear vision of what I thought it should be. Then at the start of 2022, a series of events changed my life, my mental health, and ultimately the way I viewed music and art.
Writing songs is my therapy. It helps me make sense of my feelings. I wrote without thought of what the songs would be, I just wrote whatever tumbled out. And in just over a week, I replaced a decadeโs worth of work with my deepest darkest thoughts.
Within the space of a month, my pregnant wife got told she had a tumour, with no route to treatment until after the birth. My best friend Jamal, a brother to me, died suddenly and I found myself standing in court defending my integrity and career as a songwriter. I was spiralling through fear, depression and anxiety.
I felt like I was drowning, head below the surface, looking up but not being able to break through for air.
As an artist I didnโt feel like I could credibly put a body of work into the world that didnโt accurately represent where I am and how I need to express myself at this point in my life. This album is purely that. Itโs opening the trapdoor into my soul. For the first time Iโm not trying to craft an album people will like, Iโm merely putting something out thatโs honest and true to where I am in my adult life.
This is last Februaryโs diary entry and my way of making sense of it. This is Subtract.โ
Since he first learnt โLaylaโ by Eric Clapton on guitar at the age of 12-years-old, Sheeranโs love of the singer/songwriter began. Growing up with the likes of Damian Rice, Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan playing on repeat in his parentsโ house โ artists that his dad, John, introduced him to โ โ-โwas always on Edโs horizon. Yet as the songs and writing process took on a whole new meaning and direction after a series of hard-hitting events impacted Edโs world in 2022, one thing that remained untouched was his strong desire to make a record anchored in his love of singer/songwriter compositions. And now, as he gears-up for the release of his most soul-baring work to date, โ-โ serves as a timely reminder for why Sheeran remains one of the most gifted lyricists of his generation; an artist who breaks down his own experiences for fans to seek comfort and belonging.
โ-โ is the result of Sheeran pushing the boundaries of his songcraft, as he delivers the most profound songwriting of his career. Teaming-up with Aaron Dessner (The National) on writing and production after the pair joined forces following an introduction from mutual friend Taylor Swift, Ed and Aaron began crafting the album in February last year. Writing over 30 songs during their month-long studio stint, the albumโs fourteen tracks are seamlessly tied together by exquisite production from paired back, folk-leaning textures to bolder, full-band/orchestral arrangements.
Ed Sheeran burst onto the UK music scene in 2011 with his debut album โ+โ. Rapidly establishing himself as a history-making artist, he followed with โxโ, โรทโ, โNo.6 Collaborations Projectโ and โ=โ – a catalogue that has seen Sheeran become one of the worldโs biggest musical success stories of the 21st century.

OneRepublic, an American pop rock and Grammy-nominated band, returned to Manila last Thursday, February 23, 2023 for their first solo concert in nearly 10 years.
Successful Big Dome comeback! After Canadian singer Jessia took the stage and played some of her own songs, including “But I Don’t,” “One of the Guys,” “Nobody Hates You,” and “I’m Not Pretty.” One Republic took the stage and opened their set with “Secrets,” the band’s second hit off of their sophomore album, 2009โs Waking Up studio album, followed by another song from the same album, where Ryan [Frontman] tweaks some lyrics, “Where I’ve been for the past few years or so, from Paris to Manila to Coloradoโ from “Good Life.”
Ryan got the chance to address the audience before going on to the band’s third song, saying โWe absolutely love, love it here in the Philippines. Weโve been coming here since, I think, 2009? And this building has a lot of history; it’s a sacred place that I don’t think exists anywhere else in the world. We’ve played in about 90 countries, and if people ask me in interviews — and you can look this up on the internet — what country loves music the most, I always say “The Philippines.” โYou guys feel music like no other country on the planet; you can sing better than anyone. Itโs been 3 years; itโs been a long time since that weird virus, but now that we’re over it, we can hang out together. Letโs have an incredible evening.โ โThank you for showing up tonight, Manila!โ He introduces the next song as the second song they ever put out and a song that kept them together as a band. They performed “Stop and Stare,” followed by their lead single off their fifth studio album, “Human,” “Rescue Me.”
The band, which started in Colorado Springs, has kept their upbeat approach and huge ball of energy. They haven’t wasted any time going from one song to the next. They took off with “Wherever I Go” and glided to a soft landing on “Love Runs Out.”

Ryan went back to talking to the crowd, introducing their next set. He explained that they will be playing most of their hits. He said theyโve been a band for 16 years, and he’s also been writing songs for hundreds of other artists, naming everyone from Taylor Swift [he even sang a piece of Welcome to New York] to Paul McCartney to Ed Sheeran to Lil Nas X, Beyoncรฉ, and LANY. He also bragged about his family living in the Philippines for the last 30โ40 years, telling him that the Philippines sang better than any country in the world. “Nobody sings better than the people in the Philippines.” He also said that in 16 years, they have done mostly OneRepublic songs, but in Manila, they will play a concert inside a concert, a cue for a medley of songs starting from Beyoncรฉ’s love letter to Jay-Z, “Halo.” Here, he took the opportunity to command his crowd as a master conductor for an arena of choirs as he let Manila participate with him in singing the highs and lows of this song, and it sounded pleasingly beautiful.

He also highlighted how “Rumor Has It” began for Adele. He also said that it is impossible to predict which song will be a success during the composition process. He shared that while writing “Apologize,” he didn’t have the idea; he was just writing a song for a bunch of girls who broke his heart in high schoolโthese 2 or 3 girls that “destroyed” him in high school and collegeโwhile moving us to the most played song of 2022, Lil Nas X’s “That’s What I Want” to “Sucker,” where lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Tedder hyped up the crowd by going off stage and walking towards the audience towards the end of the song.
The crowd stayed just as interested until “Lose Somebody” by Kygo and OneRepublic and “I Ain’t Worried,” the second and final singles from the Top Gun: Maverick (2022) soundtrack, came on.

OneRepublic played a wide variety of instruments, including the cello, violin, acoustic guitar, and xylophone. Occasionally, Tedder would take to the piano, as he did for a more mellow and stripped-down rendition of their 2007 smash hit “Apologize.” It went to number one in sixteen countries with their first album, Dreaming Out Loud, and got them a Grammy nomination. Here, they turned the audience into a massive choir, orchestrated by Ryan himself, giving everyone chills and confirming, “This is by far the best choir we had out of 45 countries.”
The undying energy was sustained all throughout the night, as the band played one song after another without even stopping to take a breath. The band ended the night by performing their popular songs “I Lived,” “Counting Stars,” and “Lose Myself,” giving their Filipino fans an ultimate performance to remember.

The energy given by OneRepublic left their crowd wanting more and proved that they are worth the wait. Tedder said, “Itโd be a dream to perform here two to three nights in a row, even better.” OneRepublic was in the country last October 2019 for the International Justice Mission, joining their fight against slavery. The voice, energy, talent, and magic they possess on stage are just incredible. We are left enthusiastic about this band; we canโt help but want more sing-alongs with them.
The legendary Backstreet Boys made their way back to the Philippines as part of their sold-out DNA World Tour. It had been almost four years since the group’s previous visit to the country.
The Backstreet Boys started the event off with “I Wanna Be With You” from 1996, making good use of the diamond stage’s steps, ramps, lighting, and numerous giant LED screens. Songs like “The Call” and “Don’t Want You Back” kept the band on the move.
A little over two-hour setlist that addressed every part of their career included more than thirty songs. Unlike other musicians who try to brush over their past work, these guys gave their all to the cheesy hits from the ’90s and ’00s that made them famous. It was nice to hear them played on its original arrangement. Their renditions of “We’ve Got It Goin’ On,” their debut single, “Quit Playing Games (With My Heart),” and “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” were so full of excitement and pride that they transported the audience back to their own childhoods.
The tempo was perfect for maintaining excitement. The newer material didn’t detract from the overall nostalgic vibe of the show, and I was happy to hear the favorites that I had played on repeat in my room as a preteen.
It’s not usually easy to get a group of five men to sing songs they released 27 years ago and still reach the same notes, but the Backstreet Boys pulled it off, with genuinely exceptional vocals from all five of them throughout the event. Whether it was Nick’s legendary singing, Brian’s beautiful falsetto, or the fantastic singing of AJ, Howie, and Kevin, the entire performance was a vocal masterclass, demonstrating the band’s unparalleled skill at producing harmonious vocal blends.
They not only sang their hearts out, but they also exhibited the comedic side of themselves. The audience watched as AJ and Kevin changed their costumes during the game they were playing. When AJ and Kevin threw their clothes to the crowd who was waiting for them, some lucky audience members were able to take something home with them.
When they celebrated Brian Littrell’s 48th birthday together with their banters while making fun of their ages, it was pretty telling how they are buddies beyond the shows and global tours that they do together.
The Backstreet Boys, if you haven’t seen them live, put on one heck of a show. Kevin and AJ prove to be a powerful double act, and their witty repartee with one another is just as entertaining as the album’s outstanding musical selections and impressive dance moves. The Mall of Asia Arena was put to good use with impressive staging and striking lighting that complements the incredible sound.
The Backstreet Boys’ 27-year reign at the top is due in no small part to their consistent high quality as performers. The performance they put on is larger than life in every sense of the phrase; it is polished to perfection, hilarious, and of the highest quality. On any other night, it would have been an unforgettable experience, but with the added depth of feeling, it becomes something you won’t soon forget. The boys’ stunning vocals and charisma onstage make them just as impressive today as they were back in the ’90s. Regardless matter how much I appreciated the band before the show, I came away from it appreciating them even more than I had before.
February 20-21, 2023 โ Westlife made their triumphant return to the Philippines as they held their two-day concert as part of their Wild Dreams Tour at the Araneta Coliseum. Presented by Wilbros Live, the sold-out shows made a big noise โ literally and figuratively โ even the band couldnโt help but acknowledge it.
On the 2nd show, Nicky revealed, โOn the last tour, you guys here at the Araneta Coliseum were the loudest of the entire tour, so we have that on record. The Philippines wins!โ Scanning the crowd as they cheered enthusiastically, he continued, โAnd then last night, you smashed that record and now youโre the loudest on this tour!โ
The Irish quartet, composed of Shane Filan, Mark Feehily, Kian Egan and Nicky Byrne, took the country by storm as early as 1999 with their eponymous debut album skyrocketing to the top of the charts, their songs like โSwear It Againโ, โFool Againโ and โSeasons in the Sunโ becoming household favorites among Filipinos. Since then, theyโve come back again and again to the Philippines.
During their Twenty Tour in 2019, Westlife also held two-day sold-out shows at the Big Dome. Now, almost four years after, their renewed yet unrelenting energy was palpable as they took over the stage like it was 2000 all over again. The crowd sang passionately to their songs, making the whole concert felt like a massive karaoke.
Wild Dreams Tour is Westlifeโs flashiest show yet โ it had flames, fireworks, four colossal LED screens and just the perfect mix of their greatest hits in one setlist. The show blasted off with โStarlightโ, โUptown Girlโ and โWhen Youโre Looking Like Thatโ, and the audience were on their feet, singing their hearts out. Really, it was a marvel to hear the relentlessly unified chorus especially during โFool Againโ, โIf I Let You Goโ and โMy Loveโ.
โThe passion, love and support you show Westlife for more than twenty years now make us feel so proud. We always feel so welcome whenever we come here to this wonderful country. We hope to continue meeting you all and performing for you all for a long time to come,โ Mark said. He just recently came back to performing onstage after having to miss some shows in the tour because of pneumonia. In Manila, he was on top of his game, hitting high note after high note, unrestrained.
As a special part of this tour, Westlife did an ABBA medley which included โI Have a Dreamโ, a song they made a famous cover of in their 1st album. They also performed a rarity known as โI Lay My Love on Youโ, which they donโt really sing much during their concerts.
The lads were in high spirits and in good humor at that, too. Upon spotting a sign that said โI chose you over the Backstreet Boysโ, they asked the person holding it up to come to the stage for a commemorative photo. The American boyband was also in the country, at the MOA Arena on the same day of their 1st show. They even sang a snippet of โI Want It That Wayโ as a bonus.
Another high point of the evening was the back-to-back stage for โSeasons in the Sunโ and โWorld of Our Ownโ which were notably some of their best hits. The atmosphere took a more solemn turn with โFlying Without Wingsโ and their final song โYou Raise Me Upโ.
As a longtime Westlife fan, I always find it amazing how every time they perform here, they still have something new to offer their fans. Even their classic songs begin to sound brand new when they perform with such immense energy, their powerhouse vocals thriving as always. Westlife has been a band for 24 years and yet they still consistently outdo themselves during their concerts. That, by itself, is a reason for me to want to see them again and again. I saw them for two nights this time, and I found myself easily enjoying both shows. It felt great to be part of a crowd of thousands who are fiercely passionate about their music. โTil the next Westlife show!
Josh Cullen explores Victorian themes and vampire-inspired imagery in this propulsive, edgy banger!
SB19โs JOSH CULLEN steps out on his own as a solo artist inspired by neo-gothic elements and Victorian motifs. The Filipino pop/hip-hop star is ready to make headlines with the release of โWILD TONIGHT,โ his new single under Sony Music Entertainment.
Packing a punch with innovative production and trap-laden beats, JOSH CULLENโs debut offering is about letting loose and breaking free from the ties that bind you.
According to the talented artist, the song gives him the opportunity to take ownership of his craft. โThe song is edgier and more provocative, and it’s a true reflection of my own personal style and creative vision,โ Cullen adds. โOverall, I feel excited and fulfilled to be taking this journey of growth and discovery.โ
Written and produced by JOSH CULLEN himself with Ocho, The Bullet, โWILD TONIGHTโ combines elements of EDM, pop, and hip-hop with a dash of vampire slice. Josh initially thought of making a banger that people can enjoy, whether clubbing or chilling alone. โWILD TONIGHTโ is the result of this artistic pursuit: a pulse of liberating joy that reveals a facet of Cullenโs personality beyond celebrityhood and public perception.
โFirst of all, itโs all me,โ he asserts. โWhile I love working with my bandmates and creating music as a group, this solo project has given me the chance to showcase my true self.โ
Josh acknowledges that he is heavily involved in the creative process, from brainstorming and refining music ideas to writing lyrics and composing melodies, and even getting himself into co-producing the material with his cousin.
โI make sure that it aligns with the way I want it to be,โ the young multi-hyphenate shares. โI take pride in the fact that I’m the driving force behind my own creative vision. I have the trait of being a control freak. When I have an idea, I want it to be executed exactly as I envisioned it, to the point where I almost feel like I’m โmeddlingโ with the different teams that work with me. But I consider myself fortunate and grateful because they were extremely understanding and supportive of my artistic endeavors.”
Apart from the music-making aspects of the track, Josh also oversees the choreography and creative direction for the music video of โWILD TONIGHT,โ a brooding visual spectacle that pushes the boundaries of his work. The music video takes an inside look at the lifestyle of a rich vampire royalty inspired by the character of Nosferatu. Known for its immortality, the vampire character was shown in different incarnations: from his early years living in a Victorian mansion to enjoying the modern club life like every human does.
The MV also features cameo appearances by members of various P-Pop groups such as KAIA, 1st. One and DIONE.
Collaborating with a handful of trusted people for his visuals, the lead rapper of SB19 accomplishes something that is uniquely his: a captivating character that is equal parts dark and light, affirming his position as a chameleonic star with a sinister edge and thought-provoking ideas.
JOSH CULLENโs โWILD TONIGHTโ is out on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment. The music video for โWILD TONIGHTโ will drop at 7 p.m. on February 24, 2023 (Friday).
You waited for him, and now, Park Jinyoung is coming to meet you.
It’s been a while since GOT7’s Park Jinyoung graced the Philippine concert stage. Although his return to Manila would be different from past meets with Philippine IGOT7s because he will be performing on his own this time, the singer-actor will undoubtedly offer nothing but the best moments and memories with his fans in the 2023 PARK JINYOUNG FANCONCERT in MANILA: RENDEZVOUSโhis first solo event in the Philippinesโon February 26 at the New Frontier Theater.

A Celebration of a Decade (and more) with Park Jinyoung
Before joining GOT7, Park Jinyoung captured our hearts as Jung Ui-bong in Dream High 2, which aired on KBS in 2012. In the same year, he formed JJ Project with then-fellow trainee Jay B (previously JB). In 2014, together with Jay B, Mark, Jackson, Youngjae, BamBam, and Yugyeom, he made his debut in GOT7. The rest, as they say, is history.
With a long career as both an actor and singer, it is only fitting that there be a celebration for the star who has grown before our eyes over the years. The 2023 PARK JINYOUNG FANCONCERT: RENDEZVOUS tour honors the singer-actor’s decade-long (and longer) career by reflecting on his career trajectory from his early work as Jung Ui-bong to his outstanding performance as Yoo Ba-bi in Yumi’s Cells.

Bear witness to his solo performances โand probably a GOT7 medley?
It goes without saying that we cannot honor Jinyoung’s ten-year career without also reflecting on his musical endeavors. And what is the best way for doing this? Watch him perform his solo songs that reflect his evolution as a performer, and we might see him perform a GOT7 medley, as he did at the Bangkok stop of the fanconcert tour.

To Jinyoung, from Ahgases.
From Jinyoung to Ahgases.

He aims to showcase the true sides of himself that his admirers have yet to know when he embarks on a solo fan meeting tour. Also, he has prepared special shows only for his fans.
As he said in his video greeting, “I prayed and I promised that I could meet you.” Three days from now, that promise will be kept. See you, Ahgases? See you, Ahgases.
