Global superstar JENNIE has released her latest single, “Less than a Lover,” alongside its accompanying music video through ODDATELIER and Columbia Records, showcasing a softer, more introspective side of her artistry.

Described as an ode to summer, the track captures the uncertainty and excitement of a relationship that exists somewhere between friendship and romance. Written by JENNIE herself, “Less than a Lover” reflects on the emotions that arise from an undefined connection, blending alternative-pop influences with lo-fi guitar textures, vintage electric keyboards, and understated production that highlights her expressive vocals and lyricism.
The accompanying music video, based on a story conceived by JENNIE, follows the singer as she steps into an imagined world while filming a short movie with friends. As the fictional love story unfolds, the experience gradually alters the dynamics between the characters, mirroring the song’s exploration of relationships that resist clear definitions.
JENNIE first introduced “Less than a Lover” during her headline performance at Governors Ball in June before bringing the track to audiences at major international festivals, including Mad Cool, Open’er, and Roskilde. She is set to continue her global festival run as a headliner at Lollapalooza Chicago before making her debut appearance at Summer Sonic Festival in Japan.
With her latest release, JENNIE continues to expand her musical identity while reinforcing her position as one of the most influential artists in contemporary pop, balancing chart success with a distinct creative vision that spans music, fashion, and global entertainment.
