  • The Fray expects a wild crowd tonight at the Big Dome

“We are doing this because we have something to say” “each one of us has been committed to each other” these what the band said when they’re asked why they’re still together during their press conference yesterday at the Crowne Plaza

It took them nearly 10 years before planning to do a concert in the Philippine and after waiting for 6 months, The Fray is ready to take the Manila stage tonight at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The Fray, sat down with Philippine Concerts and other members of the press before heading to their Meet and Greet/CD signing session.
Many of us has started hearing of a band called The Fray when “How to Save a Life” became somewhat of an anthem in American TV shows, most specifically in Grey’s Anatomy. I’ve never actually gotten into that show, but the TV station insisted on using that song as the official background music for the show’s commercial which irrevocably played every 15 minutes. Strangely though, it never got into my nerves like all the other repetitive mainstream music. If anything, it had a sort of soothing effect.

“We’ve come to the conclusion that we’re exactly where we want to be. If you’re going to put us onstage for 90 minutes, we are going to give you more than anyone else, and we are going to kick your ass harder than anyone else. You can laugh at us, poke fingers at us, but for what it is, we’re as good as it’s going to get.”

Tomorrow night at 8:30 PM, The Smashing Pumpkins will perform their very first show in Manila entitled The Smashing Pumpkins Oceania Global Tour at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Though a lot of fans are hailing the new album as a return to Pumpkins’ glory days, front man Billy Corgan begs to differ. “If we would put the same music as we did in the ‘90s, new generation might be lost,” says Billy. Expect a combination of old and new stuff as they rock the Big Dome. (more…)
