Puregold’s “hakot” legacy hit a whole new stride in Cavite as the Hakot Relay South Luzon leg transformed Vermosa Sports Hub in Imus into an adrenaline-charged showcase for speed, grit, and pana/o. More than 4,000 runners that showed up had their game face on as they competed, enjoyed the camaraderie, and joined the signature “hakot” moments of the race.
The Southern Luzon leg-of the nationwide Hakot Relay series-marked the launch of Puregold’s first-ever 8K Individual Challenge, putting solo runners to the ultimate test. Around 500 runners took on the full 8 kilometers, proving that Puregold Hakot Relay is also about pushing one’s limits and crossing the finish line stronger than ever.
The rest competed in the event’s signature Hakot Relay, where runners formed teams and raced through the course while collecting grocery items along the way.
Therein lay the difference: Hakot Relay was a team event, while the new 8K was an individual race.
In the relay, teammates had to strategize and work together as they raced to collect groceries before reaching the finish line. In the 8K Individual Challenge, runners tackled the longer distance entirely on their own.
“We wanted to offer runners a fresh and enjoyable way to challenge themselves, with the kot’ mochanic adding a plavful and uniguely Puregold twist to the race. Being part of “hakot’ mechanic adding a playful and uniquely to the running community is meaningful to us, and it is a privilege for Puregold to bring people together for a sharing xperience.
Participants began with a pre-race warm-up before heading to the starting line and completing their respective courses within prescribed cut-off times.
After crossing the finish line, runners collected their race-day rewards and visited sampling booths of participating brands. Sponsor-led stage activities and an awarding ceremony capped the event.
Participants in the team Hakot Relay went home with a Grocery Sling Bag and a Finisher’s Grocery Bag, but a ‘surprise’ awaited the solo 8K finishers at the end of the line: the chance to roll home their loot in a finisher’s grocery cart wagon.
“We’re always looking for ways to level up the Hakot Relay and give Filipinos something new to look forward to,” Piedad said. “This year, this meant introducing our first-ever 8K challenge and bringing the experience to an even bigger scale.”
With more than 4,000 runners joining either as teams or solo competitors, the South Luzon leg expanded the Hakot experience while keeping its coveted reward intact: you race to the finish line-and go home with groceries, too.

Yesterday at Vermosa Sports Hub in Imus, Cavite, the Puregold Hakot Relay once again proved why it has become one of the most-loved community events in the country. Rain or shine, 4,550 runners showed up, families, barkadas, first-timers, and seasoned runners alike, ready to run, laugh, and hakot like never before.
What makes this event special is never just the distance. It’s the pure Pinoy joy of turning a race into a shared adventure. Parents tagging kids, friends strategizing which items to grab first, couples racing side by side, and strangers cheering each other on as grocery bags grew heavier and smiles grew wider. The classic Hakot Relay delivered its signature mix of speed, teamwork, and that thrilling “loot” moment, while the brand-new 8KM Individual Challenge gave solo runners a tougher test of endurance, complete with the same rewarding finish line experience.
By the end of the day, finishers weren’t just carrying medals. They walked away with bags packed with groceries and some even took home bigger prizes like microwaves, electric fans, washing machines, and luggage. The real prize, though, was written all over their faces: the kind of tired, happy smile that only comes from doing something fun with the people you love.
Puregold continues to show that community engagement isn’t limited to films or concerts. Through the Hakot Relay, the supermarket opens its doors to anyone who wants to experience the thrill of “shopping” in the most energetic way possible—running for it, laughing through it, and going home fuller in both pantry and heart.

The Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival 2026 recently presented the 26 participating original films and their extraordinarily talented makers at a lively media conference held at Quantum Skyview in Gateway Mall 2, Araneta City.
Alongside seasoned directors and actors joining this year’s filmfest are stoked-up aspirants and brave auteurs seeking to make a name in the industry through a diverse mix of movie genres.
Hosted by TV personality Migs Almendras, the Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival mediacon served to bring excited festival participants within reach of their multi-generation audience. On stage, the artists spoke with passion about their projects while providing attendees with glimpses into this year’s films.
In attendance for the coming-of-age film “Apol of my Ai” were director Thop Nazareno as well as actors Zion Cruz and Rochelle Pangilinan.
Representing the fantastical “Beast” was producer Meg Bryan Bermudez, together with the film’s supporting cast of Candy Pangilinan, Karl Medina, Ruslan Jacob, and Dax Alejandro.
The quiet and moving drama “Mono No Aware” was represented at the event by director BC Amparado, producer Patricia Salic, as well as lead actor Juan Karlos Labajo.
The supernatural and proudly queer “Multwoh (Patay na Patay Sa’yo)” had director Rodina Singh in attendance alongside actors Sassa Gurl, Joao Constancia, Phi Palmos, Gaia Poly, and Inah Evans.
The otherworldly love story “Patay Gutom” had actors Khalil Ramos, Cris Villanueva, and Alwyn Uytingco joining co-directors Carl Joseph Papa and Ian Pangilinan.
The romantic comedy with a deadly twist “Stuck on You” saw Mikko Baldoza take the stage with lead stars Xyriel Manabat and River Joseph.
And last but not least, director Joseph Abello appeared to present “Wantawsan,” his ‘slice of life’ comedy with a twist of political dilemma.
Also in attendance for the event were the nineteen filmmakers participating in this year’s student shorts category. Hailing from all over the country, this new generation of cinematic voices are raring to leave a mark at this year’s upcoming festival.
“Every film in this year’s CinePanalo carries the passion of its creators,” says Ivy-Hayagan Piedad, festival chair of Puregold CinePanalo. “Giving these stories a platform where audiences can experience and celebrate them is our way of supporting Filipino artistry and contributing to the continued growth of Philippine cinema.”

Right in the heart of SM Mall of Asia, next to the usual shopping, dining, and bayfront views, sits a gleaming silver dome that feels like it belongs to another era. Inside is Museo del Galeón, the Philippines’ first immersive maritime heritage museum. Opened to the public on May 1, 2026, it finally brings to life one of the most important and often overlooked chapters of Philippine and world history: the Manila–Acapulco galleon trade.
This isn’t a quiet, glass-case kind of museum. It’s experiential, sensory, and built for discovery. At its center stands a full-scale representation of the Galeón Espíritu Santo, a 17th-century ship originally built in Cavite around 1603 that made multiple peaceful crossings of the Pacific. Measuring roughly 40 meters long and 30–31 meters high, the fiberglass replica is massive enough that you can walk its decks, peer into the cramped crew spaces, and stand under the masts while a vast LED “Sea of Lights” wraps the dome in shifting seascapes, storms, and starry night skies. It is one of the largest indoor LED installations of its kind in the Philippines (and among the largest museum LED bands anywhere). The effect is immersive: you don’t just look at history, you step into it.
Walking through the exhibits felt like stepping into a different era of Philippine history. The museum does a really good job of bringing maritime stories to life: the galleon trade, the ships, the routes, the people involved. You get a clearer sense of how connected the Philippines already was to the rest of the world centuries ago. I left knowing a lot more than I expected to.
Most of the ships were built by Filipino hands, largely in Cavite using local materials and extraordinary craftsmanship. Filipino seafarers formed a large part of the crews that endured months-long voyages under harsh conditions. The museum places those people and that ingenuity at the center, connecting pre-colonial balangay traditions and early navigators to the galleon era and onward to the Philippines’ modern role as a major source of the world’s seafarers.
.What makes it a true must-visit at Mall of Asia is the rare combination of scale, location, and relevance. You can step out of a shopping mall or a seaside stroll and, within minutes, be standing on the deck of a galleon under a digital night sky. Families, students, history buffs, and curious tourists all find something here: pride in Filipino skill and resilience, a clearer sense of how the Philippines helped shape early globalization, and a visceral experience that sticks with you longer than a typical exhibit. More than 30,000 visitors gathered at SM Mall of Asia on Aug. 22 and 23 for Korea Travel Fiesta 2026, as the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Manila Office showcased Korea’s diverse tourism offerings and encouraged Filipino travelers to discover new destinations and experiences beyond the country’s familiar attractions.
Held under the theme “Your Winter Playground,” the two-day event brought together 24 industry partners, including travel agencies, online travel operators, airlines, ski resorts and financial institutions. Visitors had direct access to travel information, holiday packages, promotions and services to help them plan their next trip to Korea.
KTO Manila Director Park Young Hee highlighted the strong and growing travel ties between Korea and the Philippines, noting that approximately two million Koreans and Filipinos travel between the two countries each year.
“Whether this is your first visit to Korea or you have been there before, we hope you discover a new place or a new experience,” Park said. “When you leave Korea Travel Fiesta this weekend, I hope you take home not only good memories, but also a real plan to visit Korea. We hope to welcome you in Korea very soon.”
As a key partner of Korea Travel Fiesta 2026, SM Supermalls welcomed the event to SM Mall of Asia. A winter playground in Manila
While Korea remains a popular destination among Filipino travelers, the festival encouraged visitors to look beyond Seoul and explore the country’s wider tourism landscape.
From winter getaways and ski holidays to cultural activities, K-Beauty, Korean cuisine and emerging destinations, Korea Travel Fiesta offered visitors a glimpse of the many experiences awaiting them throughout the country.
The event also drew enthusiastic crowds with a star-studded lineup of Korean and Filipino guests and performers.
K-pop singer Bae Jin Young, who joined the opening ceremony, delighted Filipino fans and added to the excitement of the weekend. Acclaimed hip-hop dance crew BANK TWO BROTHERS brought its powerful choreography and high-energy performances to Manila, while Gwyn Dorado showcased her distinctive vocal talent.
Filipino television personality and host Melai Cantiveros-Francisco, actor Jason Francisco and their children, Mela Francisco and Stella Francisco, also joined the festivities. The Korea Visa Application Center (KVAC) also offered information and assistance on Korea visa applications, while partner banks introduced credit card programs and benefits that may help eligible travelers manage their travel expenses.

An evening of music and storytelling
“Unchanging Glass” is the 21st installment of Wish Date, a concert series that has built a following for blending film, live acting, and live music into one unforgettable night.
The short film of the same name is set to premiere at the event. It follows three people stuck in a place they can’t move past, and the difficult choices that come with holding on for too long.
“Unchanging Glass” stars Zaijian Jaranilla, Yukii Takahashi, and Aljon Mendoza, with supporting performances from Monina Lawrence, Sharmaine Suarez, and Chikki Magbitang.
Throughout the short film, there will be live music and live acting segments that are set to bring even more emotion to life — and make the characters even more relatable.
For the upcoming 12th Wish anniversary special, the audience can expect top-notch performances from musical guests The Juans, dwta, Renz Verano, and Pops Fernandez. This lineup of veteran and contemporary OPM acts will perform a setlist that complements the film’s themes of love, loyalty, and letting go.
12 years of innovation
Wish Date is one of the many ways Wish 107.5 has pushed past the boundaries of traditional media.
When it first went on air on August 10, 2014, it unveiled the Wish Bus, a state-of-the-art mobile studio that hosts live performances and radio broadcasts. The music sessions performed on the Wish Bus are also recorded and made available on demand through the Wish YouTube channel, which now has over 16 million subscribers.
These live performances are called “Wishclusives” and are a major category at the annual Wish Music Awards (WMAs). The awards show honors the best Wish Bus performances, song releases, and artists who made a mark in the past year.

SB19’s PABLO ushered in a new chapter of his solo career with the release of his latest single, “USAD,” on July 17, accompanied by the sold-out staging of his prelude showcase, The Middle, at the Crossroad Center. More than a live performance, the event introduced the creative direction behind his upcoming body of work, centering on themes of self-discovery, growth, and authenticity.
Conceived as a reflection on the often-overlooked space between where people are and where they aspire to be, The Middle encouraged audiences to embrace their own journey rather than compare themselves to others. For PABLO, the concept represents recognizing the greatness that already exists within each individual and choosing self-belief over self-doubt despite external pressures. “Here in the Middle, I want people to discover something new within themselves. That’s the message of the prelude. No matter how small or big, wins are wins, regardless of the circumstances surrounding them.”
The showcase also offered fans a closer look at a more personal and sonically distinct side of the artist. The Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (FILSCAP) is set to celebrate Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino 2026 by showcasing the next generation of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) creators through Songwriter’s Night Select 2026, happening on July 31 at the Music Museum in Greenhills, San Juan.
The concert will bring together 15 emerging songwriters from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, each representing diverse musical influences, cultures, and creative perspectives. Performing their original compositions before a live audience, the participants will offer a glimpse into the future of Filipino music while highlighting the artistry and craftsmanship behind songwriting.
Acclaimed Filipino singer-songwriter Angela Ken will grace the stage as a special guest performer. Her rise from an emerging artist to one of today’s notable OPM acts reflects the opportunities available to aspiring songwriters and underscores the event’s mission of nurturing new creative voices.
For decades, FILSCAP has advocated for the rights and welfare of Filipino composers, lyricists, and music publishers. Through initiatives such as Songwriter’s Night Select, the organization continues to provide emerging creators with opportunities to showcase their work, connect with audiences, and gain recognition for their contributions to the Philippine music industry. Held in observance of Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino, the concert also serves as a tribute to Filipino songwriting and the creators whose work shapes the country’s musical landscape.

Linggo Ng Musikang Pilipino (LMP), the country’s annual nationwide celebration of Filipino music, returns this year with revitalized programming designed to champion the rich and diverse music scene in the Philippines.
Established through Proclamation No. 933 and signed by the late President Benigno S. Aquino III in 2014, LMP has become a viral platform for recognizing the lognstanding legacy of Original Pilipino Music. For more than twelve years, it has consistently inspired greater appreciation for homegrown music and played a crucial role in fostering a culture of collaboration and community in its month-long activities.
This year’s theme, “Pinoy Coded,” celebrates Filipino identity by highlighting how music reflects the nation’s culture, stories, and shared experiences. Through this year’s Linggo Ng Musikang Pilipino, the campaign aims to strengthen support for OPM and recognize the artists, songwriters, producers, music practitioners, and industry stakeholders whose contributions continue to enrich the Filipino music catalog and make it world-class.

OPM President Ogie Alcasid explains, “The theme this year was a product of being exposed to current trends and trying to engage with a younger core audience. But we still wanted to retain that love for our music and our culture. Hence, why we went with the theme Pinoy Coded. Throughout July, Linggo Ng Musikang Pilipino 2026 will present an eclectic and well-curated lineup of performances, educational programs, and community initiatives across multiple venues in Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas, and the rest of the country. This year’s festivities include the return of OPM Spotlight, a month-long concert series featuring OPM member-artists performing original compositions alongside iconic Filipino classics. Expanding beyond the capital, the celebration also welcomes collaborations with regional partners such as Nine Degrees North in Baguio, Palawan’s Songwriters’ Community, and Passion8 Events & Services in Iloilo, reinforcing the festival’s commitment to making the celebration more inclusive and representative of the country’ s vibrant music communities.
“For this year’s celebration, we’re excited to collaborate with productions outside of Metro Manila,” OPM Executive Director Gab Cabangon adds. “It has always been our goal to expand the LMP celebration to different parts of the country so that we get to celebrate and highlight the diversity and excellence of Filipino music and Filipino artists.”
OPM Spotlight: LMP2026 runs from July 1 to 31, with performances across different venues including Kubo at JT’s Manukan in Quezon City, Burnt Edges branches in Makati City, Beach House Bar & Grill in Marikina, What’s Your Poison in Población, and partner-produced stages in Palawan and Iloilo. Music fans can also expect an exciting showcase of OPM member-artists performing their original music and fresh renditions of iconic Filipino songs, highlighting the creativity and diverse voices at the forefront of the Philippine music landscape.
Complementing the Spotlight series is the LMP2026: Rockwell Series, an all-OPM acoustic showcase happening from July 25 to 31 at Power Plant Mall in Rockwell, Makati. Featuring eleven OPM solo artists performing a blend of original compositions and OPM favorites, the series continues Rockwell’s longstanding support for Filipino music by bringing live performances to one of the country’s premier lifestyle destinations. Meanwhile, aspiring musicians will also have their moment through LMP2026: OPM-ic Open Mic Night on July 29 at Backdoor. Maginhawa, where emerging artists and non-OPM members can perform original songs and OPM covers before fellow music enthusiasts. Proceeds from the event will directly support Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mang-Aawit’s future programs and initiatives.
