Yesterday at Vermosa Sports Hub in Imus, Cavite, the Puregold Hakot Relay once again proved why it has become one of the most-loved community events in the country. Rain or shine, 4,550 runners showed up, families, barkadas, first-timers, and seasoned runners alike, ready to run, laugh, and hakot like never before.
What makes this event special is never just the distance. It’s the pure Pinoy joy of turning a race into a shared adventure. Parents tagging kids, friends strategizing which items to grab first, couples racing side by side, and strangers cheering each other on as grocery bags grew heavier and smiles grew wider. The classic Hakot Relay delivered its signature mix of speed, teamwork, and that thrilling “loot” moment, while the brand-new 8KM Individual Challenge gave solo runners a tougher test of endurance, complete with the same rewarding finish line experience.
By the end of the day, finishers weren’t just carrying medals. They walked away with bags packed with groceries and some even took home bigger prizes like microwaves, electric fans, washing machines, and luggage. The real prize, though, was written all over their faces: the kind of tired, happy smile that only comes from doing something fun with the people you love.
Puregold continues to show that community engagement isn’t limited to films or concerts. Through the Hakot Relay, the supermarket opens its doors to anyone who wants to experience the thrill of “shopping” in the most energetic way possible—running for it, laughing through it, and going home fuller in both pantry and heart.
