iKON Makes Blazing Return to the Philippine Concert Stage

Always and forever with iKON, from iKONICs.

Without exaggeration, iKON consistently succeeds in transforming the concert stage into the biggest and greatest party โ€” a wonderful collaboration with iKONICs, who consistently arrive in the most passionate manner with lightsticks raised and ready to illuminate the stage for Jay, Song, Bobby, DK, Ju-ne, and Chan, regardless of the number, the location, the time, or the circumstances. Cheers rang out, loud and proud, as iKON returned to the Pearl of the Orient Seas.

The boy group and their fans continued to display unrelenting and persistent enthusiasm to make the Manila stop of the 2023 iKON World Tour TAKE OFF another concert to remember despite Jay’s absence from the event owing to his military enlistment.

From their first solo concert in 2018, an exclusive gathering for a brand in 2019, their glorious return to the Philippine concert stage in 2022, to their eagerly anticipated takeover of The Big Dome last August 5, the boy group’s previous visits to the country are sufficient proof that iKON will constantly be able to dominate any concert stage with a setlist packed with timeless and current tracks accompanied by a live band and captivating stage presence.

As The Big Dome blazes red for them, Song, Bobby, DK, Ju-ne, and Chan took the stage and launched the show with “Tantara” from their third studio album and most recent release, Take Off. With endorphin, energy runnin’ deep through everyone’s brain, they promptly followed “Tantara” with the hard-hitting “SINOSIJAK” and “At Ease” and a parade of performances of their hits “Killing Me”, “Rhythm Ta”, and “Bling Bling”.

The anticipation grew when they announced their impending return with new tracks. The boys also gave iKONICs a preview of the new tracks they will be releasing.

Nothing has changed, guys. You are still on fire. Thank you for showing up, guys.

    BOBBY

The show continued with the national anthem, “Love Scenario,” and their most recent single, “U.” In plain white t-shirts and black slacks, iKON performed on these stages, exuding a relaxed and carefree mood that encouraged you, the audience, to let loose and fully immerse yourself in the party.

iKONICS were treated to solo performances of “Kiss Me,” “Want You Back,” “HeartBROKEN PlaYBoY,” and “Fighting” by DK, Ju-ne, Bobby, and Song, respectively. Bobby and Ju-ne collaborated on “Deep Night”. Meanwhile, Chan promised fans a solo stage at their next show in the Philippines. Then, during the interval, a charming and heartfelt VCR was played, offering viewers a glimpse into the boy group’s endearing bond and their love for iKONICs.

I think even a lifetime wouldn’t be enough to pay back what you’ve done for us. So, we’ll always do our best, whether onstage or offstage, and try our hardest to be great people.

    CHAN

“When the feelings from our fans get through to me, that’s when I feel the most thankful,” Chan said. Jay added, “There was a time when I felt a little lost. When I was told, ‘I wish you’d stop feeling guilty,’ that made me tear up a bit.” Other members mirrored these sentiments and shared how their fans’ encouragement has helped them get through difficult times. “I hope we can continue to depend on and support each other,” said Ju-ne.

Thank you for staying by iKON.

    JAY

Brimming with emotions, iKON slowed down a bit with “Why Why Why”, “Like a Movie”, and “GOODBYE ROAD”. And this is how we celebrate, man! They then revived the party with “WHAT’S WRONG?”, “DUMB & DUMBER”, “B-DAY”, and “FREEDOM”.

The boys returned to the stage for the encore and opened it with “Driving Slowly,” acknowledging the various fan projects that the iKONICs had prepared, including the “iKONICs love iKON always and forever” sign, to which DK replied, “We love you forever, seriously. Thank you.” The fans, who also have a lot planned for them, surprised the boys with a touching video greeting that made them tear up.

Always the best party when iKON and iKONICs are present. Song, Bobby, DK, Ju-ne, and Chan teamed up with iKONICs for a prolonged encore of “B-DAY,” “RHYTHM TA,” “Love Scenario,” “FREEDOM,” and “Tantara,” generating an unrivaled amount of energy at the Manila stop of the 2023 iKON World Tour TAKE OFF.

It’s hardly hyperbole to state that iKON and the iKONICs always put up a show unlike any other. Everyone was on their feet, chanting loudly and proudly, with KonBats blazing red. Always and forever with iKON, and indeed, the iKONICs never felt short on this promise as they consistently gave Jay, Song, Bobby, DK, Ju-ne, and Chan the warmest welcomes and the best, most memorable parties.

2023 iKON World Tour TAKE OFF in MANILA was presented by PULP Live World and Happee Hour. Special thanks to PULP Live World for the invite.

  • CRAVITY Gets Groovy in 1st Manila Concert

CRAVITY Gets Groovy in 1st Manila Concert

The long-awaited debut of CRAVITY on the Philippine concert stage finally happened with a masterpiece and a concert to remember.

When CRAVITY announced their tour dates for their first world tour, MASTERPIECE, fans from all over the Philippines waited for this day to come with so much anticipation! Fans from all corners of the country flocked to the New Frontier Theater, brimming with excitement to witness the stellar performances of Allen, Hyeonjun, Jungmo, Minhee, Serim, Seongmin, Taeyoung, Wonjin, and Woobin. The night was filled with euphoria, mesmerizing choreography, and unforgettable moments, solidifying Cravity’s place as a global icon in the K-pop scene.

The moment the lights dimmed, and the stage came alive with dazzling LED displays, the atmosphere inside the New Frontier Theater reached a fever pitch. Cravity emerged from the darkness, opening the show with their hit tracks Get Lifted, Baddie, and My Turn. They indeed opened their concert with their hot and powerful stages. “I didn’t know that Manila was this hot; everyone, you guys are the best in the world!” Heongjun said.

After their opening, each member got to greet Manila. Wonjin even opened with “Mabuhay, beshy!” which made the crowds go wild. Their second set was just as hot as their opening as they performed, Flip the Frame and Veni Vidi Vici. Seongmin even gave a spoiler before they performed Bad Habits. “Recently, I made a bad habit for myself. This is something I do when I feel the atmosphere is not so good and the tension is bound,” Seongmin said as he made the cutest expression saying, “Nyah!”. Taeyong also got to do the expression, and as fans chanted Serim’s name, we also got to see Serim do it! After they performed Bad Habits, it was followed by Gas Pedal.

Cravity returned to the stage with colorful outfits and a different stage showcasing their sweeter and youthful side. They sang Give me your love and Maybe, Baby and even prepared a concert version for the world tour. In a brief intermission, Hyeongjun and Taeyoung gave the fans a special treat. They performed P-pop sensation SB19’s “Gento” in person, which the pair earlier performed in a TikTok clip posted days before the Manila show. But of course, fans also wanted the other members to do the dance, and indeed they did not disappoint.

Throughout the evening, Cravity showcased their immense versatility, captivating the audience with a dynamic mix of upbeat tracks, soulful hits, and powerful dance routines. With their performances with Pow! And with their latest song Groovy, they indeed performed their hearts out as their concert was coming to an end. But before anything else, they explained how it was a part of their bucket list to experience the light wave with their fans. Of course, the entire theater did its best in doing the light wave for Cravity.

After taking the group photo, fans started cheering, “Birthday na ni Songmin! Birthday na ni Songmin!” as the cake and balloons the fans prepared were a surprise for Cravity’s make. His band members prepared him some flowers and headbands as a surprise also. Fans even teased him and chanted, “Iiyak na yan! Iiyak na yan!”

Cravity performed “A to Z” and “Light the Way” for their encore stage. They even delivered individual messages to their fans regarding the end of their world concert and the beginning of Cravity’s journey worldwide. They promised to return and create more precious memories with their fans, known as LUVITYs. The group also highlighted their enjoyment of the energetic performances and the enthusiastic response from the audience, expressing their desire to come back with even better shows in the future. They closed with the first song they ever composed, Colorful.

Thank you for being the last piece for our Masterpiece world tour.
August 5th, 2023, remember our time!

  • A Timeless Memory with Taeyeon in “The Odd of Love” in Manila

A Timeless Memory with Taeyeon in “The Odd of Love” in Manila

Taeyeon returned to the Philippines as she had promised, and the country’s SONEs made sure she did so to the biggest applause and most enthusiastic welcome on the Philippine concert stage.

Last July 30 at the Araneta Coliseum, Kim Taeyeon, the leader of Girl’s Generation and one of the most esteemed vocalists in the music industry, gave a magnificent performance of a jam-packed setlist that included 25 songs from her debut album, I, through her third studio album, INVU. The concert, which featured a live band and dancers, emphasized her vocal prowess and her performance, which delved into many genres and demonstrated her versatility.

The singer, who looked stunning in a black gown, sang the songs “INVU,” “Can’t Control Myself,” “Some Nights,” and “Set Myself on Fire” from her third studio album, INVU, which was released in 2022, to start THE ODD OF LOVE in Manila. She continued to astound the audience while wearing a scarlet outfit and performing “Siren” and “Cold As Hell” from INVU.

“Finally, I have come to Manila. It’s nice to see you all,” she said during the opening meant. She then relived her last visit to the country with a joint concert in April, recalling making a vow to return with a solo concert. She proceeded to perform “Heart” and “Toddler” to wrap up the first portion of the performance.

Taeyeon had a joyful comeback to the concert stage, shining with enthusiasm and energy in “Weekend,” “No Love Again,” “You Better Not,” and “Stress.” With purple clothing on display for the siren tonight, a rave party started during “Stress”! โ€œI think itโ€™s the first time to see SONEs enjoying my concert so well. You have this vibe of enjoying the concert โ€” so good,” she commented.

She also performed songs from her fourth extended play, What Do I Call You, offering the fans beautiful and soulful renditions of “Playlist,” “What Do I Call You,” “To the Moon,” and “Wildfire.” She returned and changed the mood by giving powerful renditions of “My Tragedy,” “Better Babe,” and “Four Seasons” on stage. With a live band on each stage, Taeyeon’s vocal prowess and stage presence were more prominently shown, enhancing the impact of every performance.

She then admitted that the empty venue made her feel lonely during rehearsal. I don’t know why I had such a feeling, but seeing you now fill the venue, I genuinely feel thankful,” she continued. The crowd then cheered the artist, who returned the applause by saying “thank you” and bowing.

Taeyeon and her music transcend time. And THE ODD of LOVE in Manila was evidence of the enduring and illustrious career she has developed over the years. No matter how many years have passed, she never ceases to impress with her talents and charisma, and her music is still a staple on everyone’s playlist. Following “Timeless,” she took the audience back to the beginning of her solo career with “I,” the lead single from her debut EP, I, and with “Fine” and “Time Lapse,” both tracks from her 2017 album, My Voice.

Taeyeon began the encore stages with “Spark” while looking adorable in her ensemble. She subsequently interacted with PH SONEs in the most endearing ways as they prepared a variety of initiatives to welcome their beshy, Taeyeon, back to the Philippines. The fan projects included a rave party with purple cloths, a banner project, and a charming attempt to sing “Rain” before the encore, among others, and added to the loud applause and the intense energy they displayed throughout the show.

โ€œI really have so much energy because I have all of you expressing your love for me.โ€

    TAEYEON

With the sweetest smiles, bows, and waves of thanks, Taeyeon showed her appreciation for the fans. She remarked during one of her ment, “I hope you guys invite me again to Manila.”

Indeed, it was a timeless memory that will be inscribed in everyone’s heart and mind, till a new memory takes over when Taeyeon returns to her PH SONEs. THE ODD of LOVE in Manila was completed successfully with thanks and happiness flowing from Taeyeon and PH SONEs.

  • TIGHTEN YOUR SEATBELTS IN LIAM NEESONโ€™S LATEST HIGH-OCTANE ACTION FILM โ€œRETRIBUTIONโ€OPENS AUGUST 23 IN LOCAL CINEMAS

TIGHTEN YOUR SEATBELTS IN LIAM NEESONโ€™S LATEST HIGH-OCTANE ACTION FILM โ€œRETRIBUTIONโ€OPENS AUGUST 23 IN LOCAL CINEMAS

With no particular set of skills, Liam Neeson takes on the role of an ordinary man who steps on the driverโ€™s seat in the upcoming high-speed movie Retribution who must follow a strangerโ€™s instructions while being trapped in the car with his children and avert dangerous consequences triggering series of deaths along the way. ย

Set in Berlin, Retribution follows a successful businessman who discovers on his way to work that a bomb has been planted in his car by an unknown assailant. But for all his killer instincts when it comes to business, Matt Turner canโ€™t possibly foresee what is about to happen next. On the way to school, a phone that doesnโ€™t belong to him or either of his children rings inside the car. And, when Matt answers, his terrible situation is revealed to him by a mystery caller: there are pressurized bombs under their seats, that will detonate if Matt tries to get anyone out of the car, calls the cops, or โ€“ and this is critical โ€“ fails to follow a set of increasingly dangerous instructions. Matt Turner, itโ€™s clear, is going to have to work extremely hard to keep his family alive and figure out why this is happening to him.

The filmโ€™s producers Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman, who also produced the box-office action hits Unknown, Non-Stop and the Commuter reflect on the many perilous on- screen predicaments they have put Liam Neeson into over the past decade, across a hugely successful run of action pictures that have become a modern thumbprint for high-concept, high octane big screen experiences.

โ€œOver our time with Liam, weโ€™ve got to crash a plane and derail a train. In Retribution we are blowing cars up, all over Berlin, reaching an electrifying peak by placing Neesonโ€™s unwitting but resourceful everyman, Matt Turner, and his two children in a car that has pressure-triggered bombs rigged under their seats. Bombs that will detonate unless Matt follows a strict set of rules dictated to him down the phone by a mysterious, malevolent caller.

โ€œThe concept of it is so immediate and engaging and itโ€™s got themes that really resonate, like money and greed. Itโ€™s a movie, Neeson says, that you will leave with a better appreciation of what truly matters. For me, thatโ€™s it. What’s really important. Sometimes you need to remember to take the time to smell the roses, to sit back and enjoy things. So thatโ€™s my advice on this. Sit back and enjoy it.โ€

Retribution also stars Jack Champion (best known for his recent role in Avatar: Way of the Water), Lilly Aspell (played young Wonder Woman), Matthew Modine (Oppenheimer, Stranger Things) and Embeth Davidtz (Tales of the Walking Dead series).

Buckle up tight for a non-stop thrilling road trip action spectacle when Retribution opens on August 23 in cinemas nationwide.

From Axinite Digicinema, follow Facebook page and Tiktok for more updates on Retribution.

The song starts off with a dreamy and atmospheric soundscape, with BIRDEE ็Ž‹็…’ in reflective mode, contemplating what went before: โ€œShouldโ€™ve had everything, it wouldโ€™ve been all mine, could’ve, but we didnโ€™t try; you were the best mistake I never made.โ€ The chorus then crashes in with an electronic immediacy, powerful synths, and thumping kick drums, giving a euphoric feeling of a close escape.

  • Never Too Cool for School: My School President 1st Fan Meeting in Manila

Never Too Cool for School: My School President 1st Fan Meeting in Manila

Instantly capturing the hearts of Boys Love fans all around Asia and the world, the musically-charged high school BL series My School President was met with rave reviews ever since it aired back in December 2022.

With a successfully received show, My School President, and top-trending episodes week after week, Asian fans were sure to get a fan meet stop in their city – and after making it to Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taipei, the cast finally landed in the Philippines last August 5, 2023!

Through Wish Us Luck Entertainment, fans were treated to a hefty fan meet with souvenirs, hi-touch and photo op fan benefits, and a performance-packed show – with everyone eagerly singing and dancing along to their favorite tracks from the series.

    My School President

Thereโ€™s A First Time For Everything: Meeting the cast of My School President

Before the show even began, the excitement was evident in the castโ€™s eyes – as Aun Napat (Kajorn), Captain Pheerawit (Yo), Prom Theepakon (Phat), Mark Pakin (Tiwson), Ford Arun (Por), Satang Kittiphop (Sound), Winny Thanawin (Win), Fourth Nattawat (Gun), and Gemini Norawit (Tinn) walked onto the stage to meet the press. They all expressed their excitement about finally meeting Filipino fans and making it as memorable as possible, as it was their first time ever in the Philippines for all nine of them.

On the topic of first times, Winny and Satang shared that filming their kiss scene in the series was one of the toughest scenes they had to do – being their first on-screen kiss ever. Mark also shared that he hopes his first time in the country wonโ€™t be his last, and that heโ€™s looking forward to having the opportunity to visit the Philippines again to see the beaches and explore its many islands.

When Philippine Concerts asked the cast about which My School President character resembled their own high school selves, most of the cast including Gemini, Ford, Winny, Satang, and Prom said they very much identified with Gun. Aun and Captain said that they were close to their on-screen characters of Kajorn and Yo, respectively. While Fourth shared that he sees himself as half-Gun and half-Tinn, and interestingly, Mark answered that he saw more of his high school self in Tinnโ€™s mom, the school principal.

Before preparing for the show, the cast shared their message of thanks to the fans – hoping for the fansโ€™ continued support as they put on their best show possible for Filipinos. Gemini expressed his excitement to hear Filipino fans sing along, after hearing about how Filipinos are wonderful singers, while Fourth practiced his โ€œmahal ko kayoโ€ message to fans and wished for everyone to be able to pursue their passions and be able to take every opportunity.

The Soundtrack of Our (High School) Lives

After a scream-filled countdown, the boys opened the show with a performance of the series main theme song – “You’ve Got Ma Back (เน„เธซเธฅเนˆเน€เธ˜เธญ) – all dressed in their high school uniforms, as fans sang and danced along to show Manilaโ€™s unbeatable energy.

As with most fan meets, the boys treated the audience with a moment to get to know them better through a quiz bee game. Divided into Team Nโ€™Lion (Gemini, Satang, Ford, Aun, and Captain) and Team Chinzilla (Fourth, Winny, Mark, and Prom), the boys were asked questions about math, science, and physical education. Team Chinzilla ended up winning over Team Nโ€™Lion with 5 points, despite being 1 member short.

After the chaotic quiz bee game were back-to-back performances from the entire cast, with Captain, Aun, and Prom starting off with their version of “Smile Please (เธ‡เน‰เธญเธง)”, followed by Ford and Mark serenading fans with “Come Closer (เธญเธตเธเธ™เธดเธ”)”, then Satang and Winny taking the stage to sing “No One Else Like Me (เธ–เน‰เธฒเน„เธกเนˆเนƒเธŠเนˆ)”, with Gemini and Fourth capping of the medley with “Hook (เน€เธžเธฅเธ‡เธฃเธฑเธ)”.

The boys then went back on stage for another game – this time, a debate between Team Red (Gemini, Mark, Winny, Captain, and Prom) versus Team White (Fourth, Satang, Forn, and Aun). They were asked to defend their stance for one minute, including their choice of a better after-school snack between Thai Pork Barbecue or Shaved Ice, both staple snacks from the show. Team Red took the win for the game, with Gemini pulling out all the stops to defend his teamโ€™s take.

Separated By Waters, Together In Music

With the fan meet coming to an end, the cast prepared to close the show by sharing their tearful message of thanks to all the fans – but to their surprise, they were asked to turn their gaze to the screen, where a fan project video played with clips from the many My School President fan clubs around the country. As they turned back around to face the audience, the fans held up their lights and placards with everyone singing to express their gratitude to the boys.

After a group photo with the entire theater, the cast went on to perform their last song – “Once Upon a Time (เนเธ„เนˆเธ„เธฃเธฑเน‰เธ‡เน€เธ”เธตเธขเธง)”, basking in a moment of love and light with their Filipino fans.

The fan meet ended with group photos and hi-touch interactions for select ticket holders, with both the cast and the fans enjoying every single second of their interaction. The boys were clearly amused to be up close and personal with their fans, as they all laughed and played around the entire time – a moment that the cast and fans will surely cherish for their lifetimes.

Halle rises above the noise on debut single โ€œAngelโ€

‘The Little Mermaidโ€™ star, Halle, delivers a powerhouse vocal performance on top of orchestral arrangements and a silky, R&B groove.

Global superstar Halle makes a splash with the release of her debut single โ€œAngel.โ€ Produced by GRAMMYยฎ Award-winning producer, songwriter, and composer Theron โ€œNeffUโ€ Feemster (Michael Jackson, Justin Bieber, Ne-Yo), the track weaves a cinematic soundscape with an R&B groove punctuated by orchestral arrangements. This backdrop highlights her skyscraping range as the powerful, provocative, and passionate lyrics captivate, โ€œHeaven knows your wings can weigh you down, but angels make a way somehow.โ€

After the widespread conversation around The Little Mermaid, โ€œAngelโ€ offers a reflection on Halleโ€™s commitment to empowering and uplifting young women around the world, โ€œbut if we fall, we fall on clouds.โ€ Listen to the anthemic track HERE.

    Halle

The track arrives with an exquisite official video directed by Wendy Morgan (Alicia Keys, Janelle Monae, Lous And The Yakuza), watch HERE. โ€œAngelโ€ made its global premiere on BET Soul, BET Her, MTV Live, MTVU, MTV Biggest Pop, and across MTVโ€™s global network of channels, as well as on the Paramount Times Square billboards.

โ€œThis song for me is so very special and near and dear to my heart,โ€ says Halle. โ€œWith everything Iโ€™ve gone through the past 3-4 years, suddenly finding myself in this bubble of all these eyes and new opinions, it was easy for me to feel doubt in myself and who I was. This song for me was my climb out of those feelings, a mantra and promise to myself that the work Iโ€™m doing here on earth matters and that I matter. I wanted to be able to embrace and be proud of myself and who I am naturally through and through. I hope other brown and black girls and everyone in general feel embraced, respected, and inspired hearing the words of this song.โ€

Halle shines as a four-time GRAMMYยฎ Award-nominated multiplatinum singer and songwriter, show-stopping performer, and dynamic actress across film and television. She initially captivated audiences as one-half of the acclaimed R&B duo Chloe x Halle alongside her sister Chloe Bailey. The pair delivered two fan-favorite full-length albums, including The Kids Are Alright [2018] and Ungodly Hour [2020]. The latter bowed in the Top 20 of the Billboard 200 and Top 3 of the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart in addition to yielding the platinum single โ€œDo It.โ€

Along the way, they notably gathered four GRAMMYยฎ Award nominations, including โ€œBest New Artist.โ€ Beyond magazine covers and television performances, they ignited the stage during the On The Run II Tour co-headlined by Beyoncรฉ and Jay-Z. Simultaneously, Halle landed a recurring role on the hit Grown-Ish as Skylar โ€œSkyโ€ Forster before breathing new life into Disneyโ€™s 2023 live-action blockbuster reimagining of The Little Mermaid. Next up, Halle stars in the remake of The Color Purple in the classic role of Young Nettie Harris. Produced by Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, and Quincy Jones, it opens in theaters everywhere this fall.

The highly anticipated Korean drama “Destined with You,” which stars Rowoon from SF9 and Jo Bo Ah, is the newest addition to Netflix’s Korean content. The streaming giant, which is already generating a buzz with top-rated K-dramas such as “Celebrity,” “The Glory,” “King The Land,” “The Good Bad Mother,” and more, is scheduled to debut new series this month.

“Destined With You” is a fantasy romance that will depict the love tale of civil servant Lee Hong Jo (Jo Bo Ah), who gets a prohibited book sealed 300 years ago, and ace lawyer Jang Shin Yu (SF9’s Rowoon), who becomes a victim of the forbidden book. The story will be told through Lee Hong Jo’s (Jo Bo Ah) and Jang Shin Yu’s (SF9’s Rowoon) perspectives. The story for the drama was written by No Ji Sul, who also wrote “100 Days My Prince,” and it was directed by Nam Ki Hoon, who directed “Oh My Baby” and “Voice 3.”

The trailer depicts scenes from the two characters’ respective histories. Lee Hong Jo and Jang Shin Yu simply look at each other as if time has stopped while they are in the middle of the crowd. While he is holding Lee Hong Jo closely, Jang Shin Yu leans in and whispers something into her ear. “Let’s run away, to some place,” he says.

Destined With You” premieres on August 23 only on Netflix.

  • Why Should You Go to Linya-Linya Land on August 2023

Why Should You Go to Linya-Linya Land on August 2023

On August 26, if you have no plans or have plans that donโ€™t seem like much fun, hereโ€™s an idea: Head on over to Linya-Linya Land at 123 Block, Mandala Park in Mandaluyong. Invite a friend or two and you might just be up for a fun, wholesome experience.

Linya-Linya Land (LLL) 2023 makes its much-anticipated comeback since its successful run in 2019. Co-presented by Gabi Na Naman Productions, the event is guaranteed to give you something fun, with a little dose of that damndamin.

Known for their witty, quirky, and heartrendingly relatable memes on social media, Linya-Linya has found itself ingrained in modern Filipino culture. Boasting a follower base of 900,000 people on Facebook, 240,000 on Instagram, and countless reposts of their memes all over the internet. They also have their podcast on Spotify: The Linya-Linya Show.

So why should you go? Let us count the reasons.

    #1 Itโ€™s a line-up like no other.

An eclectic mix of some of the most prominent musicians, artists, and comedians await you. Would you have ever imagined seeing the Ebe Dancel play live and seeing Pol Medina Jr. on the same day? Fancy jamming to Autotelic and then laughing your heart out to a variety of stand-up comedians? Ever watched influential artists create their art on the spot? Want to check out some cool shirts while youโ€™re at it? LLL 2023 has all that and more.

    #2 Forda concert, of course!

Experiencing live music is always a good reason to go, and LLL 2023 features some of the most talented individuals in the OPM scene. Ebe Dancel, Cheats, Autotelic, Johnoy Danao, Nica Del Rosario, and DJ Ayel Mari offer something different for everyone.

#3 Live Comedy + Live Art

Artworks by Pugad Baboy creator Pol Medina Jr., Kikomachine creator Manix Abrera, and digital artist Rob Cham will be exhibited around the venue. As a bonus, youโ€™ll get to witness live art by landscape artist and environmental activist AG Saรฑo and traditional painter and Linya-Linya co-founder Panch Alvarez. Their live art will be auctioned off and donated to advocacy groups.

A little humor goes a long way. Stand-up comedians GB Labrador, Jeames Caraan, Victor Anastacio, Nonong Ballinan, and Jeleen Cubillas will be there to brighten up your day.

This mixture of performing arts is something you wonโ€™t get to experience in just any event, and LLL 2023 has them in one place, in one day.

Another bonus: There will be an open mic for the audience. If you want to be heard, it might be a good chance for you.

#4 Be part of the community and its advocacy.

LLL 2023 is also expanding its event to include its advocacies. The company is known to be active in supporting advocacies and they incorporated that into this event. A number of advocacy groups like AHA Learning Center and Community Learning Hub will have their booths in the venue. You can inquire about their cause, sign up as volunteers and donate to them during the event.

#5 Linya-Linya Land 2023 will be a fun, holistic celebration.

As their tagline goes: โ€œgets ka naminโ€. When we went to their cozy office in Libis, Quezon City, co-founders Ali Sangalang and Jim Bacarro were kind enough to give us a rundown of what to expect in LLL 2023 as well as a brief history of their company.

At its core, Linya-Linya is more than a shirt brand. As a content company, they pride themselves on the words, ideas, and thoughts that connect them with people, and that is what people wear and take with them.

โ€œLLL will be a celebration of making it past the pandemic, and weโ€™re giving back to the community that kept us alive,โ€ Jim said. Ali explained that there are a lot of talented Filipino artists and that they are happy to provide a space for them to share their talents and connect them with our advocacies at the same time. โ€œMagiging venue ito to enjoy, to have fun, but at the same time, meaningful experience siyaโ€ฆ Iyon ang goal namin sa event na โ€˜to: maging masaya tayo pero may bitbit din tayo pauwi na natutunan at pwedeng gawin, he added.

Save the date, make your Saturday worthwhile, and gear up for a jam-packed day at Linya-Linya Land 2023 on August 26! Tickets can be purchased online at linyalinya.ph, and through their physical stores in Trinoma, Uptown Mall BGC, and Libis.

  • Alanis Morissetteโ€™s Glorious Return to Manila

Alanis Morissetteโ€™s Glorious Return to Manila

August 1 and 2 โ€“ Alanis Morissette came to perform for a jam-packed two-night concert at MOA Arena for the Manila stop of the Jagged Little Pill Tour. The multi-Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter is one of the most notable female rock icons that emerged in the โ€˜90s.

Released 28 years ago, the album that shares the tour title had sold 33 million copies worldwide and had defined a whole generation of Gen X and Millennials. Her fans, now dubbed as titos and titas of the Philippines, pushed their way to travel despite the persistently heavy rains all over Manila. Presented by Ovation Productions, the concerts were a glorious return for the iconic singer as well as a celebration of an era long gone (but clearly never forgotten).

Ice Seguerra opened for the show. He performed the hit โ€œPagdating ng Panahonโ€, a haunting acoustic cover of Nirvanaโ€™s โ€œSmells Like Teen Spiritโ€ and The Beatlesโ€™ โ€œCome Togetherโ€.

Before Alanis appeared onstage, a video montage featuring some of her most notable appearances on TV including her guestings in SNL, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, her MTV Unplugged set and her cameo in the 1999 movie Dogma where she played God. It also featured snippets of Justin Bieber singing โ€œIronicโ€ with James Corden on Carpool Karaoke, a hopeful youth singing โ€œUninvitedโ€ for her American Idol performance, a skit featuring Justin Timberlake in 2016 โ€“ proof of how Alanis Morissetteโ€™s influence thrived in the 90s and spread like waves to the following generations.

When the opening riffs of โ€œAll I Really Wantโ€ was heard across the Arena, everyone was cheering loudly. Alanis Morissette sprang across the stage in a white baggy shirt and jeans, and sang like she owned the stage. Her ever powerful vocals, her fiery rock nโ€™ roll charisma and the great live band backing her up were enough to take the crowd back to the โ€˜90s.

It was 1996 when Alanis Morissette played Manila, but it would seem the years did not take a toll on her. She blazed from one song to the next, effortlessly singing while flipping her long locks of hair and spinning like crazy.

The Filipino crowd went off singing along karaoke-style to the ever favorites โ€œHand in My Pocketโ€, โ€œHead Over Feetโ€ and โ€œIronicโ€. There was also the screaming angst in โ€œYou Learnโ€ and โ€œForgivenโ€ in contrast to the enthralling fragility in โ€œMary Janeโ€ and โ€œUnforgivenโ€. Alanis also inserted a few songs from her 2020 album Such Pretty Forks in the Road โ€” โ€œReasons I Drinkโ€, โ€œAblazeโ€ and โ€œSmilingโ€.

For the finale, she thanked the crowd for coming and ultimately performed โ€œThank Uโ€.
