Spotify Editors’ Picks: Best OPM Songs of the Year So Far!

For the first time, Spotify is launching its Editors’ Picks: Best OPM Songs of the Year So Far – an unranked, editorially driven mid-year snapshot of the 50 songs released this year that are shaping local music culture in 2026.

Curated by Spotify Philippines’ editorial team, these are the tracks that stood out for their songwriting, musicality, distinctiveness, and cultural impact — capturing not just what people are streaming, but what is defining the sound and spirit of OPM so far this year.

Drawing on deep expertise in music, culture and listening behavior, Spotify Philippines’ editorial team listens to hundreds of songs across all genres each week. For this list, they discussed, debated, and weighed each track to arrive at a selection that goes beyond the charts. Editors’ Picks puts human taste at the centre of music discovery.

“What we’re hearing in OPM right now are artists who sound like no one but themselves. The songwriting is sharper, the sound and production is more adventurous, and the influences are coming from everywhere. As editors, we’re immersed in the artists, communities, and conversations shaping Filipino music every day — and this list reflects it. We’re excited for listeners to discover these 50 songs, the music that continues to soundtrack lives everywhere.” said Chesca Tan, Lead Editor for Spotify Philippines.

Filipino artists are blending genres, languages, and influences in ways that defy any single label. Skusta Clee and Flow G’s “Since Day One” sits alongside ena mori’s experimental “19 Underground, BINI’s “Unang Kilig,” and Hev Abi’s “WALANG HIYA” — showing the range of what OPM sounds like right now.

Discover the full list on Spotify Editors’ Picks: Best OPM Songs of the Year So Far. The PH edition also features an Editorial Watch Feed, where Spotify’s editors share the context behind some of their picks — the sounds, stories, and conversations that shaped the list.

Run, Train, Move: Spotify Brings Fitness to Filipinos!

Introducing Fitness Hub on Spotify Premium, giving listeners access to content from established wellness creators. Consumption of running playlists on Spotify is up 4x as running culture thrives.

Spotify soundtracks Filipinos’ fitness rituals. From solo training sessions to community workouts, Filipinos are turning to Spotify as part of how they move. The rise of run culture has seen consumption of running playlists on Spotify quadruple, while user-generated running playlists increased five-fold.

The top running tracks locally reflect the energy listeners bring to every run—from the uplifting sound of “Golden” by HUNTR/X, to the high-intensity push of “Can’t Hold Us” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, and the pop confidence of “like JENNIE” by JENNIE.

Spotify brings fitness culture closer to fans through IN THE ZONE, a playlist featuring takeovers from Filipino athletes and movement leaders who share the tracks that fuel their focus, flow, and drive. The latest IN THE ZONE curator is Hannah Pangilinan, founder of Just One Run Club–one of the communities helping shape the country’s growing running movement. Her playlist features a mix of nostalgic rock and feel-good alternative tracks, including September by Earth, Wind, & Fire, There She Goes by Sixpence None The Richer, and Ain’t No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. Reflecting on the playlist, Hannah shared, “I pulled from my personal running playlists that I’ve used in my races, and I basically wanted to share the songs that have contributed to my overall energy when running. The songs reflect positive affirmations and high BPMs that help with my pace strategy, and they also encapsulate the feelings I’d  like  to  embody  and  the  mindset  I  want  to  be  in  when  I  run.”

    Running is just the start.
Spotify powers every stage of the fitness journey. From warm-up beats to high-energy tracks for the final push and familiar songs for long-distance runs, listeners can find the right soundtrack for every moment on Spotify. Through the Fitness Hub, listeners can access curated playlists and guided fitness content in one place, making it easier to integrate movement into their day.

    • More local acts claimed the top spots of this year’s Spotify Wrapped Top Songs list including the collaboration between gins&melodies and Hev Abi, “Babaero,” and Maki’s “Dilaw”.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES.  5 DECEMBER 2024. Spotify has unveiled its highly-anticipated 2024 Wrapped campaign — celebrating the fans, artists, and creators who all made this year the record-breaking, culture-making, fandom-shaking year it was. Spotify users can also access their personalized 2024 Wrapped Experience, with new features to showcase how they soundtracked their year.

2024 showed up with its own trends, moments, and movements that defined the music landscape, from breakout artists rocketing to the top of charts to passionate fandoms fueling powerful genres. Globally, Taylor Swift is Spotify’s 2024 Global Top Artist for the second year in a row, followed by The Weekend (#2), Bad Bunny (#3), Drake (#4), and Billie Eilish (#5).

In the Philippines, passionate fan bases are pushing emerging Pinoy artists and homegrown genres to greater heights. RADAR artist Hev Abi leads the charge as this year’s Spotify Wrapped Philippines’ Top Local Artist, proving that Pinoy hip-hop is here to stay. Joining him are fellow RADAR artists and P-Pop sensation BINI, claiming the #2 spot. Rounding out the list of top local artists are balladeers Arthur Nery (#3), TJ Monterde (#4), and folk-pop band Ben&Ben (#5), showcasing the breadth of talent and genres captivating Filipino fans.

Reflecting on the recognition he has been receiving, Hev Abi shares, “’Di naman siya nakakagulat para sa akin — lahat naman siguro ng artist gusto maging leading in some way, somehow.

Pinoy Spotify users proudly championed homegrown hits, with Spotify RADAR artists dominating the top spots of this year’s Spotify Wrapped Philippines’ Top Songs. At the top is Babaero”, a collaboration between gins&melodies and Hev Abi, followed by Maki’s heartfelt solo song Dilaw (#2), Dionela’s soulful masterpiece sining” featuring Jay R (#3), Hev Abi’s hard-hitting Walang Alam” (#4) and BINI’s vibrant P-Pop track Pantropiko” rounding up the list at (#5), with the list giving a nod to the vibrant future of Filipino.

“2024 has been an incredible year. We’re thrilled to celebrate the vibrant and diverse music landscape through Wrapped, a reflection of how fans connect and champion their favourite artists on Spotify,” said Gustav Back, Managing Director Southeast Asia, Spotify. “Pinoy music continues to break into new spaces like never before and we’re excited to continue working closely with local creators to bring their crafts to more audiences.”

Reflecting on their journey together as podcasters, James Caraan said, “When we started The KoolPals, our goal was simple: promote our live shows and connect with comedy fans, until podcasting took our comedy to another level of ‘funny.’ Spotify made our jokes resonate with more comedy fans, and when our listeners greet us in public and share jokes with us as good friends do, it gives us an amazing feeling.”

In addition to revealing users’ top artists, genres, songs, and podcasts, Spotify has added new features, allowing fans to discover how their taste in music evolved throughout the year. Starting today, eligible users can access their personalized 2024 Wrapped, packed with new features.
