This marks an incredible milestone in Quadlips’ journey as they continue to expand their diverse lineup of exceptionally talented Asian artists.

    Formed in 2023, Quadlips serves as the global unit of the AKB48 Group, bringing together select members from various countries as they continue making waves in the Asian pop music scene. Currently, the lineup features FENI (JKT48), COLE (MNL48), FAME (BNK48), and now welcomes MASHIRO, who adds a fresh dynamic to further create a diverse ensemble poised for global appeal.

    MASHIRO, hailing from the culturally rich Nara Prefecture in Japan, is a proud representative of the 2nd generation of KLP48 (Kuala Lumpur) and was announced as a new member of Quadlips at the Japan’s Oshi Tera Idol Matsuri event in September 2025. Her unique perspective and vibrant energy are expected to elevate the group’s performance and engagement with fans. With the existing members making significant strides in connecting with audiences across Asia, MASHIRO’s addition is poised to further amplify their impact.

In the history of the AKB48 group, Quadlips became the first unit featuring selected members from various AKB48 groups across Asia. On October 29, 2023, Quadlips was officially announced, consisting of four members who have led their respective groups in countries like Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, and the Philippines. The unit’s activities kicked off in these countries and extend to other parts of Southeast Asia.

    On August 15, 2025, Quadlips, the first global unit of the AKB48 Group, held a press conference in Quezon City to launch their seventh single, “IDGA” (I Don’t Give A). The four-member girl group—Feni (JKT48, Jakarta), Hina (SKE48, Nagoya), Cole (MNL48, Manila), and Fame (BNK48, Bangkok)—shared insights into their latest release, their creative process, and their journey as a multicultural pop sensation.

    The group’s trip to the Philippines was part of a larger tour of Asia that included stops in Japan and Indonesia, showing how popular they are in the Asian region.The centerpiece of the press conference was the introduction of “IDGA,” Quadlips’ seventh single and second release of 2025, following their May 2025 hit “Wings Grow Back.” Described as a fun, empowering breakup anthem, “IDGA” blends hip-hop and R&B influences with English lyrics, embodying the group’s signature global sound.

    Quadlips also talked about how they came up with the idea for “IDGA” during the Q&A session.Fame, the Thai representative, talked about how the song has pop-punk overtones that remind her of classics from the early 2000s.Member Cole took the stage to highlight the song’s distinct vibe, contrasting it with the emotional depth of “Wings Grow Back.” She described “IDGA” as a track with “school vibes” and a lighthearted tone, perfect for anyone navigating relationship differences. “It’s about not giving a care and moving on,” Cole said, emphasizing its relatable message of confidence and independence.

    In a stunning turn of events, the group said they were fans of Filipino P-pop star SB19 and that they wanted to work with them on a project in the future.Cole said, “SB19’s energy is amazing; we’d love to mix our styles,” she also said that “IDGA” has “school vibes” and a lighthearted tone, which makes it great for people who are going through relationship problems. “It’s about not caring and moving on,” Cole added, stressing how relatable the song’s message of confidence and independence is.

    Feni, the leader of the group, explained the song’s meaning, saying it was about “girl talk” and having the strength to leave bad relationships. People really liked what she said, which shows that Quadlips can connect with fans through universal themes. Feni also teased the music video that goes along with the song. It was filmed in Tokyo’s famous Shibuya district and features colorful, TikTok-friendly visuals of the group having a fun day off.

    The release of the video on Quadlips’ official YouTube channel happened at the same time as the release of the single, which made “IDGA” even more popular.
