The Grind Finally Hit: Delinquent Society Drops “Gumagana Na”!

After a decade of hard work, Delinquent Society returns with “Gumagana Na,” a song that celebrates perseverance, loyalty, and the rewards of staying true to the journey. Marking a milestone the group once only dreamed of, the single reflects on how years of dedication have finally begun to bear fruit.

After years of grinding, Delinquent Society is now seeing the results of their commitment through sold-out performances, brand partnerships, and growing opportunities. What makes this chapter especially meaningful is that they continue to create music alongside the same people who have been with them since the beginning.

The group still works closely with DJ Ross Fuego, longtime friend and producer Delae, Burbankz, Murphy, and producer Wudz, proving that success is even more fulfilling when it is shared with the people who helped build it from day one.

The inspiration behind “Gumagana Na” came during a studio session while searching for samples and ideas. Instead, the group rediscovered an old voice note from their Uncle Ricky. The recording immediately resonated with everyone and became the emotional foundation of the song, appearing in the introduction and woven throughout the track as a reminder of where they came from and everything they have overcome.

With the voice note as the starting point, producer Wudz built the beat around it, allowing the record to come together organically. The result is a deeply personal anthem about trusting the process, staying loyal to your team, and recognizing the moment when years of sacrifice finally begin to pay off.

More than a celebration of success, “Gumagana Na” is a tribute to ten years of friendship, resilience, and the belief that consistent hard work creates opportunity. It serves as a reminder that while reaching your goals is important, the people who stand beside you throughout the journey are what make the destination truly meaningful.

  • SunKissed Lola Returns with Honest New Single โ€œEdi Magalit Kaโ€

SunKissed Lola Returns with Honest New Single โ€œEdi Magalit Kaโ€

After more than a year since their last EP release, SunKissed Lola returns with โ€œEdi Magalit Ka,โ€ a warm, playful, and honest new single that builds on the heartfelt storytelling behind previous fan favorites such as โ€œPasilyo,โ€ โ€œPaki Sabi,โ€ and โ€œMakalimutan Ka.โ€ Turning a familiar Filipino phrase into a song about love, patience, and choosing the relationship over the argument, the track marks a fresh yet familiar chapter for the band.

Known for heartfelt songs about love, longing, and the emotions people carry through relationships, SunKissed Lola enters a new chapter with a track that feels both familiar and refreshing. โ€œEdi Magalit Kaโ€ takes its title from a phrase often heard in everyday conversations, especially between couples and friends, but the band gives it a softer meaning. Instead of sounding dismissive or prideful, the song becomes an affectionate way of saying that even when things get difficult, love is still there.

โ€œItโ€™s a song about relationships,โ€ vocalist Laura Lacbain shares. โ€œHindi maiiwasan ang away sa relationship, pero hindi pa rin mawawala ang love. Susuyuin pa rin sa huli.โ€ Vocalist and guitarist Alvin โ€œBinoโ€ Serito describes the track as a โ€œloving anthem,โ€ saying that even when someone is upset, the feeling behind the song remains tender. โ€œEven if youโ€™re mad with your special someone, at the end of the day, theyโ€™re still your favorite person to come home to,โ€ he says.

    credit: SunKissed Lola

The song first began in 2021, but its earliest version carried a more prideful tone. As the track developed, the band softened the lyrics and gave the song more emotional openness. According to vocalist and guitarist Dan Ombao, Bino helped shape the confession-like parts of the song and added the line โ€œโ€™Di ba?โ€ to make the message feel gentler.

Bino explains that the heart of the song lies in choosing love over ego. โ€œNo one has to win,โ€ he says. โ€œI will always choose the relationship over the argument.โ€

That emotional shift became central to the final version of โ€œEdi Magalit Ka.โ€ What could have been read as stubborn or sarcastic became something more sincere. The title itself invites curiosity because it depends on how the listener understands it.

    credit: SunKissed Lola

โ€œThe title was intriguing in itself,โ€ Laura says. โ€œYou will be curious. Pwedeng i-send sa jowa. You really need to listen to the song to understand the context.โ€ Musically, โ€œEdi Magalit Kaโ€ also reflects a more relaxed and intentional side of SunKissed Lola. Dan shares that the song started as an acoustic piece before he brought it to the rest of the band. From there, the arrangement came together naturally, with each member adding their own parts.

For bassist Danj Quimson, the goal was to keep the sound simple and laid-back so the lyrics could stand out. โ€œWe all united to make it sound laid-back, simple, and we wanted to highlight the lyrics of the song,โ€ he shares.

Compared to some of their earlier songs, which leaned into more unpredictable arrangements, โ€œEdi Magalit Kaโ€ was designed to feel lighter, warmer, and easier on the ears.

โ€œFor this one, we made it simple for the audience,โ€ Bino says. โ€œWe made it magaan sa tainga.โ€

Dan adds, โ€œThatโ€™s also what the song asks for. A very simple, refreshing, and warm song.โ€

For drummer Genson Viloria, the songโ€™s charm comes from how instantly familiar it feels. He shares that when he first heard it, he thought it sounded like a cover because of how catchy and natural it was.

While the track still carries the easy-listening quality that listeners have come to love from SunKissed Lola, the band sees it as a more vulnerable and straightforward release. For Dan, โ€œEdi Magalit Kaโ€ stands apart because of how honest it feels. Laura also sees it as a fresh direction for the band, especially because it focuses on being in a relationship and working through the struggles that come with it.

โ€œItโ€™s the comeback of SunKissed Lola,โ€ Laura says.

As the band approaches its fifth year, the release of โ€œEdi Magalit Kaโ€ also marks a more mature and intentional era for the group. Danj shares that he felt a change in the band during the recording process, with each member becoming more focused on serving the song in the best way possible.

Bino says the band has returned to its roots with more conviction. โ€œWe know our strengths and now we are able to maximize it,โ€ he shares. โ€œWe are more intentional in releasing this song.โ€

Ultimately, SunKissed Lola hopes โ€œEdi Magalit Kaโ€ makes listeners smile, feel kilig, and maybe even rethink the way they handle small conflicts with the people they love.

โ€œWe want them to feel what we felt the first time we played the song,โ€ Bino says. โ€œWe hope it makes them smile, the way kung paano namin siya niyakap sa umpisa.โ€

Laura adds that she hopes younger listeners, especially those new to relationships, realize that love also means learning how to work things out. โ€œSana kiligin din sila,โ€ she says. โ€œSana our young listeners na bago pa lang sa relationship, ma-realize nila na they need to work it out.โ€

With โ€œEdi Magalit Ka,โ€ SunKissed Lola opens the door to more music, more stories, and a deeper connection with their listeners. Fans can expect more songs, more content, more gigs, more tours, and a closer look at the members beyond their roles in the band.

โ€œWe want to be part of more peopleโ€™s stories,โ€ Bino says.

โ€œEdi Magalit Kaโ€ is out today on all major streaming platforms.

  • Why Filipinos keep coming back to Manila Sound!

Why Filipinos keep coming back to Manila Sound!

Hotdog was an iconic Filipino band formed by brothers Dennis and Rene Garcia in 1972. Credited as a primary exponent of the Manila Sound, the band helped pioneer a musical genre that captured the hearts of Filipinos in the 1970s

For a music genre born under disco lights and bell-bottoms, Manila Sound has had an unusually long afterlife. Decades after its peak, its songs still feel woven into everyday Filipino life. Karaoke nights somehow always end with โ€œBakit Labis Kitang Mahalโ€. Family celebrations are incomplete without Tito suddenly requesting โ€œRock Baby Rockโ€. The genre pulses in the DNA of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) itself. Even Gen Z listeners who never stepped foot inside a disco club can instantly recognize the sound.

    Era before OPM
Before OPM became a catch-all term for Filipino music, Manila Sound was already defining what local pop culture could sound like. Back then, the Philippines had long consumed Western music with enthusiasm. American and British rock records dominated the radio. Meanwhile traditional kundiman and folk songs remained symbols of an older, more formal Filipino identity. Somewhere between, the younger generation was searching for a sound that felt closer to their own lives: urban, chaotic, romantic, funny, ambitious, and unmistakably Filipino.

Hotdog as pioneers of Manila Sound
The rise of Manila Sound can largely be traced back to Hotdog, the genre-defining band that made Taglish, disco, and Manila street culture sound effortlessly cool. Formed by brothers Dennis and Rene Garcia, the group rose to fame in 1974 through the hits โ€œIkaw Ang Miss Universe Ng Buhay Koโ€ and โ€œPers Lab.โ€ They would later cement their legacy through era-defining anthems such as โ€œManila,โ€ โ€œAnnie Batungbakal,โ€ and โ€œBongga Ka Day.โ€ Hotdog wrote lyrics exactly how young, middle-class Manileรฑos actually spoke: a casual, conversational mix of Tagalog and English. Combined with catchy, Western-style pop arrangements, the music was instantly relatable. Suddenly, Manila Sound was taking over radios, parties, and pop culture conversations everywhere.

    The Manila Sound explosion
Seeing the massive success of Hotdog, the local recording industry went into overdrive. The movement was heavily championed by Vicor Music Corporation, spearheaded by executives Vic del Rosario and Orly Ilacad. They actively scouted and produced local talent to ride the Manila Sound wave.

OPM legends (L-R) Rico J. Puno, Hajji Alejandro, Rey Valera, and Marco Sison shared the stage during The Best of the OPM Hitmakers concert at the Newport Performing Arts Theater on December 9, 2016.

This era saw an explosion of sub-genres under the Manila Sound umbrella. Artists like Rico J. Puno took Western soul and R&B and infused it with Filipino lyrics and sentimentality as heard in “Kapalaran” and his Taglish cover of “The Way We Were”.

    Disco fever took over
As disco took over the globe, the Philippines responded with its own vibrant dance tracks. VST & Company became the undisputed kings of Manila Sound disco, earning comparisons to the Bee Gees with upbeat anthems like โ€œAwitin Mo At Isasayaw Ko,โ€ and โ€œMagsayawan,โ€ songs that still dominate Filipino parties decades later. Meanwhile, Hagibis brought macho camp into the mainstream with funk-driven hits like โ€œKatawanโ€ and โ€œLegs,โ€ turning clubs and dance floors into full-blown spectacles.

    Soundtrack of Filipino Romance
On the softer side of the genre, bands like Cinderella and The Boyfriends ruled the airwaves with melodic love songs and harmony-filled ballads. The Boyfriends became known for romantic staples such as โ€œBakit Labis Kitang Mahal,โ€ โ€œDahil Mahal Kita,โ€ and โ€œSalawahan,โ€ while Cinderella captured the sweetness and innocence of young love through timeless hits like โ€œT.L. Ako Saโ€™yoโ€ and โ€œBato sa Buhangin.โ€

Maestro Ryan Cayabyab headlined the Tribute to OPM concert at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in 2023.

    The Birth of OPM
By the end of the 1970s, Manila Sound began evolving beyond the disco grooves and Taglish pop style that first defined the movement. As the music matured, songwriters and artists began crafting more complex, diverse, and universally Filipino music that extended beyond the capital city of Manila.

Premier Balladeer Basil Valdez performance during Tribute to OPM concert.

Artists like Ryan Cayabyab, Rey Valera, Hajji Alejandro, Marco Sison, Basil Valdez, and Freddie Aguilar started producing music that was more sweeping and sophisticated. To reflect this broader, more mature national identity, pop singer Danny Javier (of the APO Hiking Society) coined a new term: Original Pilipino Music (OPM).

APO Hiking Society members Jim Paredes and Boboy Garovillo celebrated five decades of friendship and music in the APO Hiking Society 50th Anniversary Concert at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in 2023.

The Manila Sound ultimately became the blueprint for modern OPM. Whether through Hotdogโ€™s witty urban storytelling, VST & Companyโ€™s disco anthems, or Cinderellaโ€™s melodic love songs, Manila Sound captured the pulse of a generation learning to define itself through music.

The Manila Sound gave way to the rise of OPM in the late 1970s and early 1980s, but its legacy was permanent. It proved that Filipinos wanted to hear their own stories, sung in their own language, to their own beat.

A special teaser performance from Bongga Ka, โ€˜Day!: The Annie Batungbakal Musical was staged during the closing night of Bagets: The Musical, previewing its narrative set in the 1970s.

    Manila Sound returns onstage
Today, that genre returns in spectacular fashion through Bongga Ka, โ€™Day!: The Annie Batungbakal Musical. Set against the glittering backdrop of โ€˜70s Manila, the production revives the music and spirit that made Manila Sound a cultural phenomenon.

Newport World Resorts, in association with VIVA Communications and The Philippine STAR, reunites for an original production featuring Hotdogโ€™s timeless hits. The show is slated to open in September 2026 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.

  • 25 Years After โ€œPagdating ng Panahon,โ€ Ice Seguerra Returns to Where the Story Began!

25 Years After โ€œPagdating ng Panahon,โ€ Ice Seguerra Returns to Where the Story Began!

MANILA, Philippines โ€” Twenty-five years after Pagdating ng Panahon became one of the most defining songs in Original Pilipino Music, Ice Seguerra is returning to the place where his story was first projectedโ€”and choosing, this time, how it begins.

Being Ice: Live! at the New Frontier, happening on February 27, 2026, is not a repeat of the earlier Newport staging of the concert memoir. It is a homecoming in the truest sense: a return to New Frontier Theater, the Cubao venue where Iceโ€™s films premiered during his childhood stardom, and where he was first seen by the nationโ€”before he had language for who he was becoming.

Opening the concert with Pagdating ng Panahonโ€”a song that for decades closed his showsโ€”marks a deliberate shift. Once a symbol of arrival, the song now serves as acknowledgment rather than climax, allowing the rest of the night to move forward into stories that came after fame: survival, quiet work, and authorship.

โ€œFor a long time, that song was the ending people waited for,โ€ Ice shares. โ€œNow, I want it to be the beginningโ€”and then let the rest of my story walk out on its own.โ€

Set in Cubao, the concert traces a full arc that many audiences never saw. After childhood fame receded, this was where Ice stayedโ€”singing in small rooms, performing in showbands, and continuing to work when the spotlight was gone. Those years, often left out of public memory, form the emotional backbone of Being Ice, a concert structured not as a hit parade, but as a memoir told in chapters.

    โ€œThis isnโ€™t a comeback,โ€ Ice says. โ€œItโ€™s a return to the place that saw everythingโ€”including the parts people didnโ€™t clap for.โ€

As the concert coincides with Valentineโ€™s Month, its growing momentum reflects more than seasonal demand. Audiences are responding to a show that invites connection rather than spectacleโ€”one that treats love not as romance alone, but as endurance, community, and the choice to stay.

Supported by brand partners aligned with the concertโ€™s values of comfort and shared experience, Being Ice: Live! at the New Frontier continues to build anticipation as a one-night-only event rooted in memory, place, and presence.

Twenty-five years after Pagdating ng Panahon, Ice Seguerra returns not to relive an endingโ€”but to finally decide where the story begins.

  • Slicoโ€™s Debut Single โ€œBagkosโ€ Is Finally Here!

Slicoโ€™s Debut Single โ€œBagkosโ€ Is Finally Here!

Get ready to fall in love with Slicoโ€™s first-ever single! The viral TikToker, known for his captivating song covers and engaging singing content, has officially dropped his highly anticipated debut song โ€œBagkosโ€ โ€” a perfect showcase of his talent.

Slicoโ€™s light, clear vocals bring genuine emotion to lyrics about love. Take the line, โ€œInit ng mga haplos mo’y nagpahiwatig na tayong dalawa ay nakabagkos, tayoโ€™y nagkabagkos,โ€ which highlights his ability to express deep feelings with simplicity.

The term โ€œnagkabagkosโ€ is a creative twist by the songwriter. Though itโ€™s not a formal word, it feels familiar, echoing โ€œnagkabigkisโ€ (bound together) while also hinting at โ€œbagkosโ€ (but, rather). This blend captures both closeness and contradiction โ€” the sweetness of being tied to someone and the bittersweet ache of knowing it may only exist in memory.

In Slicoโ€™s own words, โ€œโ€˜Bagkosโ€™ is a love song about wanting someone you truly admire but realizing things didnโ€™t turn out as hoped. Youโ€™re left admiring them from afar, holding on to the thought of what it would feel like to be close, to hold them, and to call them yours. The word โ€˜nakabagkosโ€™ (tied) shows how you remain bound to that feeling.โ€

Whatโ€™s next for Slico? Fans can look forward to a music video for โ€œBagkosโ€ coming soon. Meanwhile, the single is available for streaming on all major platforms โ€” donโ€™t miss out, give it a listen now!

  • โ€œRehabโ€ is Shanti Dopeโ€™s Most Personal And Courageous Work Yet!

โ€œRehabโ€ is Shanti Dopeโ€™s Most Personal And Courageous Work Yet!

Filipino hip-hop sensation Shanti Dope delivers his most personal and courageous work yet with his new single “Rehab,โ€ a track that chronicles his battle with addiction, the road to recovery, and the power of love as a driving force for change.

The song is an unfiltered confession, a mirror of Shanti Dopeโ€™s own battles with substance abuse, peer pressure, and his experience on the dark side of fame. What began as experimentation with an illegal substance led to a troubled path, forcing him to confront his demons and seek rehabilitation for the sake of those he loves mostโ€”his partner, his son, and his family. In a heartfelt verse, Shanti raps: Sabik na kong gawin yung halikan ka pagkagaling ng rehab. Hindi sapat sa akin na ikaโ€™y yakapin lang. Yung tamang panahon ay darating din basta kapit lang.

“Rehab” boldly challenges the shame often associated with recovering from substance abuseโ€“Shanti presents rehabilitation as an act of strengthโ€”proof that fighting for a better life requires strength and courage. The song is for anyone who struggles with addiction and their inner demons. His reminder that you are not alone, that asking for help is not a weakness, and that change is possible. If you keep holding on, the right moment will come. As Shanti said in the song, Yung tamang panahon ay darating basta kapit lang.

Known for his lyrical depth and unflinching honesty, Shanti Dope uses his music to reflect real-life struggles. With “Rehab,” he strips away any pretense, offering listeners a raw and an unfiltered look at his lowest moments, and his journey back to light.

  • Jeremy Gโ€™s โ€˜ODDictedโ€™ EP Explores Love and Vulnerability with Y2K Vibes

Jeremy Gโ€™s โ€˜ODDictedโ€™ EP Explores Love and Vulnerability with Y2K Vibes

Filipino singer-songwriter and producer Jeremy G made a significant mark with his 2025 EP ODDicted, a six-track project that topped the iTunes Philippines albums chart. Released on August 8, 2025, under Star Music PH, the EP showcases Jeremy Gโ€™s evolution as an artist, blending R&B, pop, and early 2000s influences while exploring themes of love, self-discovery, and vulnerability. The term โ€œODDictedโ€ encapsulates the EPโ€™s concept of unique, personal addictions to loveโ€”both romantic and self-directed.

The Kapamilya artist shared that the coined word ‘oddicted’ summed up the theme of the extended play (EP). He said, โ€œI felt like it fit very well because everyone has their different addictions when it comes to love. It was a great thing to encapsulate the whole theme about loving someone and loving yourself.”

He co-wrote and produced the six-track EP with pop duo Darren Cashwell. โ€œODDictedโ€ takes influences from the Y2K era as it delves into the highs of romance with the songs โ€œhopeless romantic,โ€ โ€œaddicted 2 u,โ€ โ€œParking Lotโ€ with Darren Cashwell and Chie Filomeno, โ€œso good,โ€ โ€œwhy me?โ€ and โ€œParking Lot – Hotter Version.โ€

The key track โ€œaddicted 2 uโ€ brings a flirty vibe of being down bad for someone.

The Kapamilya artist also spoke about how working with different artists helped him find the inspiration again to write music for himself.

โ€œAfter I released my album โ€˜Late Night Madness,โ€™ I lost inspiration in trying to write for myself. I would try to write but nothing came out and it wasnโ€™t good enough. But when I was writing for other artists, it helped me develop that inspiration even more. Those collaborations especially when Iโ€™m helping artists start their music career, it helped in shaping this EP,โ€ Jeremy shared.

Jeremy released his first album โ€œLate Night Madnessโ€ last year, which features โ€œMoonlight Kissesโ€ with Regine Velasquez-Alcasid and โ€œBINIโ€ with BINI Aiah.

Aside from his music, he is currently a mainstay of the Sunday noontime variety show โ€œiWant ASAP.โ€

The EPโ€™s reception has been strong, with listeners praising its fresh sonic style and Jeremyโ€™s hands-on approach to songwriting and production. His collaboration with artists like Chie Filomeno and Darren Cashwell, alongside his experience writing for OPM acts like BGYO and AC Bonifacio, enriched the projectโ€™s depth. ODDicted reflects Jeremyโ€™s growth as a producer and his commitment to authenticity, making it a standout in his discography.
