Pentatonix Live in Manila and Cebu 2015

Members of the award winning a cappella group are Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstie Maldonado, Avi Kaplan, and Kevin Olusola. They joined the television singing competition show, The Sing-Off on its third season and became an instant favorite throughout the process. During the show, they performed amazing renditions of popular cover songs, such as “Your Love Is My Heart” by Kesha, “ET” by Katy Perry, “Born to Be Wild” by Steppenwolf, “Without You” by David Guetta, and “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor. No matter what they performed, the audience went crazy! They ended up winning the competition.

Following the success of The Sing-Off, all five members continued their career full time, and today Pentatonix is one of the most successful groups in music. They won their first Grammys for Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella and named YouTube’s Artist of the Year. Perri Played with Full Heart in Manila

Last March 5, we were lucky to experience the incredible talent of Christina Perri Live in Manila. She’s the singer-songwriter behind one of my favorite soundtracks of all time, “A Thousand Years”, but I had no idea how powerful her voice was until I saw her live in concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The lights dimmed as Christina walked on stage. The 28 year old singer has been on the music scene internationally since premiering her breakthrough hit, “Jar of Hearts” on So You Think You Can Dance. She greeted the audience with her big smile before singing “Trust” and then immediately followed by “Shot Me in the Heart”. She was very entertaining not only with her amazing voice, but by her inspiring stories and perky dance moves around on stage.

Lenny Kravitz Live in Manila 2015 Cancelled

Updates:
Lenny Kravitz has announced that his upcoming concert at the Globe Circuit Events Ground in Manila on the 24th March will be cancelled due to unforeseen scheduling issues. Unfortunately, given current commitments the concert cannot be rescheduled at this time.

Said Lenny Kravitz, “Unfortunately, due to contractual scheduling conflicts beyond my control I will not be able to come to Manila to perform. I have been looking forward to coming to play for my fans and I’m deeply sorry that my concert had to be cancelled. My ability to come play for you all is a huge concern to me and I’m looking forward to rescheduling so I can perform for you in Manila as soon as possible. Love and Respect…Lenny

Shane Filan’s concert in Manila set in October

Shane Filan was back in Manila for a few days. Just last September, he came to Manila to promote “Everything to Me”, his first single and EP as a solo artist. That time, he did two short mall shows which managed to round up huge crowds made up of old and new fans alike.

Now, he’s back in town to promote his new album titled “You and Me”. Shane Filan’s debut album is mostly composed of ballads with a dash of folk and country tunes, a bit of pop-rock and a whole lot of effort and love. He co-wrote all of the songs with a new bunch of different musicians along with a few familiar composers of Westlife songs.

He’s set to hold a full concert on October 1 at the World Trade Center Manila. Tickets now available at ticketworld.com.ph/shanefilan

Coming straight out of his flight from Hong Kong, he immediately proceeded to converse with the Filipino media in a short press conference. He seemed completely at ease as he answered each question.

Here’s a gist of what transpired at the presscon:

What’s the difference of being in Westlife and going solo?
“It’s not easy coming out of a band like Westlife. People might think that it’s easier, but it’s actually harder. You have to convince people that you’re good. You’ve got to work hard, to do a great album and a great show.”
He even joked, “it’s not all that different –just quieter. You look to other side and wonder’ where are the boys?’”

The Lumineers Live in Manila 2014 Cancelled

“Midas Promotions regretfully announces, The Lumineers concert scheduled for July 28th at the World Trade Centre, Metro Manila has been cancelled, despite the best efforts of Midas and The Lumineers for the concert to happen. The Lumineers have issued the following statement:

“Regrettably we have to cancel the forthcoming concert in Manila due to unforeseen circumstances. Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase. We apologise for any inconvenience caused, and want to thank the fans for their continued support.”

Details regarding refunds will be posted shortly.”

A Great Damn Tour with Avril Lavigne

Many of us grew up listening to Avril’s debut album with classic hits such as Complicated, Sk8er Boi and favorite rock ballad I’m With You. And we know most of you guys did too, or should we say everyone went through that “Avril Lavigne era” in life. Last night, our pop/rock queen, proved again that 5 studio albums down the road, she can still own the concert stage. The Big Dome was packed with fans of all ages that were brimming with excitement to witness her return after 3 years since her last visit.

The stage set up for Avril was simple but she and the band were more that enough to get everyone on their feet singing and dancing throughout the show. A now grown and happily married Avril took the stage with massive energy and smiles. Wearing a Hello Kitty dress, she started the night with an intro video and then performed “Hello Kitty”. Standing at around 5’2 with long blonde hair, the 29-year old singer managed to stay true to her pop rock image from the beginning of the show up to the encore set.

One of her many outfit changes of the night preceded her performance of “Girlfriend” followed by her latest hit “Rock N Roll.” Avril wasted no time to run around on stage with palpable energy and excitement. A few songs into her set, she also sang another smash hit, “Here’s To Never Growing Up.”

Avril Lavigne and her husband, Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger wrote a duet, “Let Me Go” which is on her self-titled new album and Manila was surprised to welcome him in the flesh as they performed the song together live. Everyone went wild when another voice came out during the second stanza. It was an unbelievable moment to see the man behind hits like “Far Away” and “Hero.” Just as the song ended, Chad managed to sneak in a kiss before leaving the stage.

OneRepublic: One Unforgettable Tour

On Wednesday, November 6, 2013, American piano-rock band OneRepublic came to the Smart Araneta Coliseum for their Native tour. The concert not just went encore but turned to be a massive karaoke-fest for their fans. Well, who will never love singing with your favorite band after all? The night started out with a silhouette of a 5-member band behind a large white curtain, Ryan Tedder, Zach Filkins, Drew Brown , Brent Kutzle and Eddie Fisher opened Native tour in Manila with Don’t Look Down.

The curtain dropped and the reaction of the crowd was priceless in the much awaited first appearance of the band on stage, the cello played and the the entire coliseum shook up. The third song of the night treated us to a brilliant performance of one of their hit songs Secrets and followed by All The Right Moves. Patron area was full, trying all the fans to rock their faces off as close to the stage as possible. It seemed that those chairs were unnecessary and OneRepublic had the audience on its feet the whole show.
