Filipino soul-pop artist Muri and Japanese electronic producer Shigge tease upcoming new track “Golden Hour”

Born in Bali, refined across continents, their joint single kicks off a new era of sonic experiments and international synergy.

Filipino singer-songwriter Muri and Japanese producer Shigge have officially announced their collaborative new single, “Golden Hour,” via a minimalist teaser posted to Instagram last night, sparking anticipation for their cross-border release.

    Muri

The soul-infused electronic track was conceived during an intensive songwriting camp at the AXEAN Festival in Bali, Indonesia last year, where Muri and Shigge crossed creative paths. What began as a spontaneous studio session has evolved into months of sonic exchange, with ideas bouncing fluidly between Tokyo, London, and Manila.

“I found Shigge’s music really unique and forward-thinking,” Muri shares in a press statement. “When we got the chance to work with each other at the songwriting camp, I felt we could make a really cool world fusing our styles together. For me, music is all about experimenting and trying something new, and this is a result of that.”

“Golden Hour” marks the first official release from their upcoming joint EP, SETSUNA, slated to drop next month. Described as a boundary-pushing collection of lo-fi house beats, ambient soundscapes, and neo-soul vocals, the EP promises a fresh take on cross-cultural music production.

To celebrate the collaboration, Muri and Shigge will embark on a two-city tour spanning Tokyo and Manila this July and August.

    Tour dates:

    • July 22 – Tokyo City, Japan
    • July 24 – Tokyo City, Japan
    • August 1 – Makati City, Philippines
    • August 2 – Makati City, Philippines

  • Choi Bo Min’s “Nakaraang Buhay” Is Part Of Beauty Empire OST

Choi Bo Min’s “Nakaraang Buhay” Is Part Of Beauty Empire OST

Filipinos enjoy it when a foreigner sings a Tagalog song — especially when it’s done well. That is definitely the case with Korean star Choi Bo Min, who just released his debut single under Universal Records last July 4. It is a full-Filipino song entitled “Nakaraang Buhay” — an original song written by Luke April, making it more impressive since it is not just a cover of an old hit.

The song is a heartfelt declaration of unwavering love and emotional commitment. It speaks about a love that endures despite distance, pain, or hardship—one rooted in destiny and past lives. “Wala namang mawawala’t magbabago. Nakatakda nang ako at ikaw habang buhay na magkaisa. Tadhana’y tatanda kasama ka. Tukso ma’y dadagsa, kumapit ka. Tayo’y pinagtagpo na sa nakaraang Buhay.”

While Bo Min does a great job singing in Filipino, one will most probably know that it is a foreigner who is singing “Nakaraang Buhay” — which is definitely not a bad thing. In fact, the way that Bo Min pronounces the words is quite charming. There is just something heartwarming about a foreigner singing a song in Filipino, especially when they do a good job.

Choi Bo Min is quickly becoming a household name in the Philippines. Apart from being the endorser for Ever Bilena and BlueWater Day Spa, the Korean celebrity is also part of the Viu-GMA-CreaZion series Beauty Empire, where he plays businessman Alex Jang. His song “Nakaraang Buhay” is part of its soundtrack, so expect for it to accompany many romantic scenes throughout the show.

Fans can look forward to more music releases and exciting projects from Choi Bo Min. Stay updated by following him and Universal Records on all social media platforms. Don’t miss out on streaming “Nakaraang Buhay,” now available on all major streaming platforms.

  • Puregold OPM Con 2025: A Celebration of Filipino Music and the Vision of Vincent Co

Puregold OPM Con 2025: A Celebration of Filipino Music and the Vision of Vincent Co

The Philippine concert scene is buzzing with excitement as they prepare to storm the Philippine Arena on July 5, 2025, with Puregold OPM Con 2025. This isn’t just a concert; it’s a cultural milestone. It’s the biggest Original Pilipino Music (OPM) concert of the year, with a galaxy of the country’s best stars and up-and-coming artists.

The concert features emerging musicians like G22 and KAIA, as well as P-pop stars SB19 and BINI, rap stalwarts Flow G and Skusta Clee, and SunKissed Lola’s soulful vibe.

Fans from as far away as Singapore, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, and other nearby countries are booking flights to witness this historic event, and the excitement is electric due to multiple trending topics about the event on X, sold-out ticket drives at Puregold stores, and trending music videos that have received millions of hits. With 30,000 people expected to fill the iconic venue, the atmosphere is sure to be nothing short of euphoric, with every seat pulsing with the combined energy of the fans united by their love of Filipino music.

OPM Con 2025 has been a topic of discussion for months. To purchase tickets, customers have been waiting in line at Puregold locations across the nation. By using their Aling Puring or Perks cards to shop, loyal customers could earn their way into the concert. This is a novel way to sell tickets that allows ordinary Filipinos to attend. The event was so popular that all of the tickets were sold out in a single day during the last ticket drop at Puregold Cubao on June 28.

    Puregold’s President, Vincent Co

Puregold is at the center of this cultural trend. It began as a chain of grocery stores but has since become a supporter of Filipino art. OPM Con 2025 is more than just a concert; it’s a strong statement of Puregold’s commitment to making the OPM scene better. This is very important to the company’s president, Vincent Co. Co is a humble, down-to-earth leader, and his love of the arts is a big part of what makes Puregold who it is. Because of his leadership, the store has become a cultural force. It is still affordable and easy to get to, but it has also welcomed a new generation of Filipinos who see Puregold as more than just a store—it’s a place where they can make their dreams come true.

Vincent Co’s goal for Puregold is more than just a business; he wants to leave a legacy of pride in being Filipino and new ideas. Under his leadership, Puregold has become a supporter of the arts, not just music but also other creative activities. The Puregold CinePanalo film festival is a great example of this. It gives a lot of opportunities to both professional and student filmmakers to make real Filipino stories. A lot of CinePanalo entries have been praised, and some have even won big awards and been shown at film festivals around the world. This shows that Puregold’s help makes a difference all over the world. People have also liked Puregold’s digital stories, like the web series “Si Sol at si Luna,” which shows what it’s like to be Filipino every day with a mix of humor and heart.

OPM Con 2025 promises to take this vision to new heights. The Philippine Arena will come to life with world-class production design, with stages made just for each act’s style. Expect SB19’s dynamic energy, BINI’s vibrant charisma, Flow G and Skusta Clee’s raw intensity, SunKissed Lola’s soulful depth, and G22 and KAIA’s fresh, bold sounds. This event shows how Puregold, led by Vincent Co, is changing what it means to be a Filipino brand.

Puregold makes OPM Con easy to get to by letting people buy tickets at grocery stores and supporting both well-known and up-and-coming artists. This helps Filipino music—and the stories behind it—stay alive.

The excitement only grows as July 5 gets closer. OPM Con 2025 will be a night of music, passion, and pure Pinoy pride at the world’s largest indoor arena. Puregold is one step closer to achieving its dream of a Philippines where every artist has a stage and every story has a voice.

  • Fête de la Musique: Un Monde – Where Musical Worlds Converge!

Fête de la Musique: Un Monde – Where Musical Worlds Converge!

June 21, 2025  — Rain pelted down the late afternoon to the evening, but that didn’t stop the crowd drawing a record-breaking foot traffic of 14,527 for the Main Stage of Fête de la Musique: Un Monde at Ayala Triangle Gardens, Makati City. Now on its 31st Edition, it is known as the biggest and longest-running music festival in the Philippines, spanning over 100 pocket stages that feature a diverse set of local talents nationwide.

Naturally, Fête’s Main Stage was grander than ever this year. A curious blend of incredible artists from divergent genres – jazz, alternative, art pop, electronic, R&B, and more – joined forces in one stage for the sake of one thing alone: the love for music. From 4PM to a few minutes shy of midnight, Fête thrilled thousands and thousands of music fans in the city.

Here are some of the highlights of the Main Stage, in photos.

Setting the fiery tempo of the festival, the beats of the Filipino Afro-Brazilian percussion group Brigada welcomed the eager crowd.
The rain started pouring when Janine took center stage, but her soulful vocals especially during “Sandig” drowned out the restlessness.
The Ridleys fused saccharine ballads with alternative folk so seamlessly; it was easy to understand why a good number of the audience sang along fondly to their songs like “Love Is” and “Be With You”.

Hailing from Japan, Ito Kashitaro came in like a whirlwind as he took the stage, bursting with tremendous energy. The singer-songwriter, known for contributing songs for anime soundtracks, performed a lively acoustic set with tracks like “Vita Philosophica”, “Pierrot” and “Magic Music”.

A bit of chill, a lot of groove –  French trio Emile Londonien brought their sophisticated fusion of electronic and jazz to Fête.
Armi Millare’s set was a balm to a long night. Her soothing vocals, matched with the hugot lyrics, ran deep with the Fête crowd as she performed “Say It Again”, “Kapit”, “Oo” and “Tadhana”.

Fête de la Musique also proved to be a brilliant avenue for astonishing artist collaborations. The set for soul duo Leanne & Naara and funk ensemble Brass Pas Pas Pas turned out to be one of the most energizing performances of the evening.

Tenacious art pop met experimental techno as Ena Mori and the electronic duo Tarsius performed together on stage — a vibrant auditory spectacle.

Squeals echoed all over the venue as James Reid entered the stage. The actor and singer dished out his suave singing chops as he sang “Blessed”, “Randomatic” and “Pahinga”.

For the grand finale, OPM legend Ely Buendia thrilled the crowd with the Method Adaptor experience, performing songs from the album which included “Kandarapa”, “Kontrabando”, “Tagpi-Tagping Piraso” and “Bulaklak sa Buwan”.

June 21 is a monumental day by nature, as it is the summer solstice, thereby making it the longest day of the year. It is also known as the World Music Day also known as Fête de la Musique. Undoubtedly, in 2025, we found out that the best way to remember such an important day was to be part of the festival, celebrating music freely. Cheers to 31 years of Fête! We’re already looking forward to the next one!

The 2025 Edition of Fête de la Musique in the Philippines is presented by Alliance Française de Manille, co-presented by the Embassy of France to the Philippines, Funkybeat Entertainment, and Anam Kara.

Alex Warren teams up with ROSÉ for new single “On My Mind”

Singer-songwriter Alex Warren teams up with global icon ROSÉ to release their highly anticipated collaboration, “On My Mind” – listen here. The song was announced as a surprise track on Warren’s upcoming album You’ll Be Alright, Kid, dueout July 18th, pre-order here. Warren started teasing the potential ROSÉ collab on his socials a few weeks ago, and fans have been anxiously awaiting the release ever since.

“On My Mind” is a swelling love song in Alex Warren’s mastered style of anthemic pop. Produced by Ammo and John Ryan, the record beautifully meshes Warren and ROSÉ’s vocals for a striking listen. The accompanying music video was directed by Colin Tilley – watch here.

Alongside “On My Mind,” Alex’s new album You’ll Be Alright, Kid will feature all the songs on You’ll Be Alright, Kid (Chapter 1), released last fall, and 11 entirely new tracks. Amongst these new tracks are Warren’s chart-topping, global smash “Ordinary” and “Bloodline (with Jelly Roll)”. The majority of the album is co-written by Alex Warren, Cal Shapiro, Mags Duval and produced by Adam Yaron. While You’ll Be Alright, Kid (Chapter 1) focuses on dealing with grief, You’ll Be Alright, Kid turns the page with healing, resilience, and optimism.

Warren’s earth-shattering hit, “Ordinary,” was released in February to rave reviews, counting nearly 1 billion streams to date, and topping the charts. The smash hit spends its third week at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is currently #1 across the Global 200 Ex US, Top 40 Radio, Hot AC Radio, UK Songs Chart and Spotify Global Top 50. “Ordinary” was not only Warren’s first top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, but it also makes him the first male soloist to earn an initial Hot 100 #1 this year.

“Ordinary” spent 12 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the UK chart. This marks the longest running No.1 in the UK by a US male solo act in OCC chart history and the longest running No. 1 of the 2020s. It just returned to #1 for its 13th week. In Australia, “Ordinary” at its 13th week is the second song this decade to have the longest continuous run at #1. “Ordinary” has also reached #1 at Top 40 Radio & Hot AC Radio and currently holds the top US radio audience. Warren now tallies over 2.4 billion career streams to date.

Warren’s previously released singles “Bloodline (with Jelly Roll),” and #1 song “Ordinary,” have seen massive success. “Bloodline” debuted in the Top 10 on the Spotify US Streaming Chart upon and had the highest debut on May 23 on Spotify. With nearly 3 million streams, it is the top song debut in both the US and globally. Directed by B.K. Barone, both Alex and Jelly Roll star in the music video that is set in medieval times – watch here.

Most recently, Warren made his award show debut with a powerful performance at the 2025 American Music Awards – watch here. Earlier this year, Warren also made his late night debut with a performance of “Ordinary” on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon – watch here. He also performed the song with Ed Sheeran at a local bar around Coachella – see his Instagram post here.
