Random Hits Live Shines the Spotlight on OPM Icon Joey G

Itโ€™s the voice. Itโ€™s the songs. And itโ€™s definitely the overall contributions to the great OPM Songbook that makes an artist great, and span decades with the timeless adoration and respect by his/her fellow peers and audiences worldwide.

Joey G. is definitely one of those artists.

A songwriter/singer/performer who has endeared himself and his body of work to music fans through the
decadesโ€ฆ it is simply a remarkable feat that he is still at itโ€ฆ and shows no signs of slowing down, nor chooses to stop and smell the proverbial roses.

Which is why concert production outfit Random Minds is proud to announce that this November 5th, fans will be able to enjoy a full night of both reminiscing and appreciating Joey Gโ€™s extensive repertoire with its second installment of the Random Hits Live series at the famed New Frontier Theater at the Araneta Center, Cubao.

Dubbed Joey G. Side Ko Langโ€ฆlongtime followers can expect nothing but the absolute best from the celebrated performer, whose uncanny ability to fuse the best in pop/rock/adult contemporary music with painfully sincere lyricism has elevated his status to that of legendary in the country. With his too-many-to-count smash hits with his former outfit Side A (ditties like โ€œForevermore,โ€ โ€œSo Many Questionsโ€ โ€œSet You Freeโ€ and โ€œHold On,โ€ to name a very select fewโ€ฆ) to his melodically enthralling recent releases like 2021โ€™s โ€œDeep Insideโ€ and this yearโ€™s โ€œLetting You Go,โ€ it is without a doubt that this will truly be one magical evening for fans of all ages.

Also joining Joey G. is fellow hit-maker Juris, who is slated to add even more enchanting songs that everyone will surely sing-along-to and appreciate.

โ€œRandom Hits Live is a series of shows featuring both local and international acts wherein audiences can enjoy both a host of hit songs and new music from their favorite artists,โ€ says Random Mindsโ€™ main man Allan Villegas.

โ€œOur first installment featured Korean group Dreamcatcher, so we figured it was only natural that we also
celebrate our very own legendary talents like Joey G. And as for Side Ko Langโ€ฆ we also plan to bring the show out on tour outside of Manila,โ€ shares Villegas.

  • Truly Nice to Meet You: ForceBook 1st Fan Meeting in Manila

Truly Nice to Meet You: ForceBook 1st Fan Meeting in Manila

Right at the height of their current series, Only Friends, Wish Us Luck Entertainment brought the undeniably adorkable couple ForceBook to spend a day with the Tomafoxes in the Philippines!

Making their mark in the BL world with their hit series Enchantรฉ, followed by the much-beloved A Boss and A Babe, and now starring in the thrillingly messy Only Friends, the ever-brooding but soft-hearted Force Jiratchapong and cute but commanding Book Kasidet, known as ForceBook, treated fans to a day filled with beloved theme songs, games, and up-close-and-personal fan perks.

    More Than Just Friends

Right as they walked onto the stage to meet the press, Force and Book were evidently excited to meet their Filipino fans for the first time – with unending waves and smiles as they sat down to answer some questions.

Right off the bat, Book could not contain his excitement to share some secrets when asked about the kind of roles they look forward to doing. He expressed his interest in doing even more comedy-centric roles, but ultimately advised everyone to stay tuned to GMMTV for updates on their next possible projects. Force added that they are always looking towards being challenged as actors and that fans can always forward to something new from ForceBook.

With ForceBook being friends for over 16 years, they were asked about how they were able to keep a strong bond throughout the years – to which Book shared that itโ€™s always about being open and communicating with each other. Communication has always been the secret to their strong bond.

When Philippine Concerts asked about the most valuable lesson theyโ€™ve learned from each other, Book reiterated that communication was the key to their friendship – and that heโ€™s learned that itโ€™s important to always talk to each other and understand one anotherโ€™s side to the story. Answering the same question, Force said that heโ€™s also learned to always try to understand the other person, and to understand that he and Book will have their differences at times.

Lucky To Have You By My Side

As the timer counted down inside a hype-filled Skydome, ForceBook stepped out and opened the show with “My Luck (เธกเธตเน€เธ˜เธญเธ™เธตเนˆเนเธซเธฅเธฐเธ”เธต)” – the theme to their office-romance series, A Boss and A Babe. Tomafoxes all sang along with the duo, showing the unbeatable Philippine energy. Force and Book could not stop praising the energy theyโ€™re experiencing in the Philippines.

Following the cutest opening number anyone could ever witness, Force and Book played a game of โ€œFox or Tomatoโ€ where they both had a chance to pick from two different scenarios. The game showed how in sync they truly are, as they both chose to work with a group over working independently, pausing time over fast-forwarding to the future, and going on an amusement park date over a quiet picnic date.

They still had their difference, though, with Force choosing unlimited coffee whereas Book chose unlimited snacks. On the question of giving or receiving hugs, Force chose receiving hugs while Book chose giving hugs – with an addition of a surprise hug to an evidently startled Force.

The show continued with a back-to-back solo performance, with songs from another beloved BL series, 2gether. Force took the stage first to serenade fans with “Gan Koo (เธ„เธฑเนˆเธ™เธเธน)”, followed by Bookโ€™s rendition of “Still Together (เธขเธฑเธ‡เธ„เธนเนˆเธเธฑเธ™)”. Both showed that they truly knew their way around a good ballad.

As they returned to the stage, they played even more games like โ€œFigure Me Outโ€, in which they both had to be blindfolded and guess the item using their cheeks. Fans went crazy as the pairโ€™s faces got closer to each other – and the stagehands pulled the items away to make for an adorable moment between the two. Book ended up losing the game and had to mimic emojis on screen as punishment – but a definite treat to fans to see Book in his most adorable poses.

The final game was called โ€œGuess The Roleโ€ where Force and Book had to act out lines from different roles picked from a box. Force did his take on Bookโ€™s characters Mew from Only Friends, and Cher from A Boss and a Babe, while Book returned the favor by doing Forceโ€™s characters of Top and Boss Gun from the same series respectively. The game ended with a tie, the pair having guessed all roles correctly.

A Force That Drives Us To Write Beautiful Chapters In Our Book of Life

As the fan meet came to a close, Force and Book returned to the stage, now seated close to the Tomafoxes to watch a special video prepared for them – with messages of love and support from their biggest fans. Everyone cheered on as the gifts from fans were handed to ForceBook, and even sang an energetic birthday song to Book who will celebrate another year around the sun on October 25th.

Before bidding their fans goodbye, Force and Book treated everyone to one last serenade – singing Hook (เน€เธžเธฅเธ‡เธฃเธฑเธ) from the series My School President. The pair even brought their performance down from the stage to sing right next to their beloved Tomafoxes.

Of course, the fan meeting canโ€™t end without the fan benefits. ForceBook then stepped out for the group photos and hi-touch looking their best in their barongs and sharing an unforgettable moment with everyone in the dome – surely an experience theyโ€™ll both want to come back to.

  • Rock band Dilaw is back with new song “Orasa”

Rock band Dilaw is back with new song “Orasa”

Itโ€™s been a great year for the rock band Dilaw and their music. With the success of their debut hit in 2022 with โ€œUhaw,โ€ the six-piece collective from Baguio is undoubtedly enjoying its time in the limelight. The band is back with the release of a new single titled โ€œOrasaโ€ under Warner Music Philippines. With its raw sound and empathetic lyrics, itโ€™s a piece that even casual fans will love at first listen.ย

Before โ€œOrasaโ€ was published on digital streaming platforms, the band had already performed the song in live gigs. In fact, many fans have already memorized the song and continue to rack up streams on digital platforms.  โ€œOur fans are great, and they support any new music we perform or introduce. โ€˜Orasaโ€™ has a chanty and catchy chorus, and I loved seeing the fans catch the melody and sing-along even without the song being released,โ€ lead guitarist Leon Altomonte shares.

Recently, Orasaโ€™s official music video has been released and has garnered impressive reactions from YouTube viewers. With vivid colors that can be seen through the bandโ€™s funky sense of fashion, the personality of each member shines throughout the video. We can also see a couple slowly entering a museum-like room with symbols representing something in their relationship.

To recall, Dilaw โ€“ an indie rock band formed in Baguio โ€“ reached their commercial breakthrough with the hit โ€œUhawโ€ and its re-released version โ€œUhaw (Tayong Lahat)โ€ culled from the eclectic debut EP titled โ€œSansinukob.โ€ Impressively, the latter gained the record on Spotify for the biggest single-day streams for an OPM song, peaked at #1 on the Viral-50 Philippines playlist, and made it to the #5 Global Viral playlist in March 2023. Not only that, the song was able to top the Billboard Philippines Songs for three consecutive weeks.

A testament to Filipinos and our love for music, it was easy for us to relate to โ€œUhawโ€ and have such passionate feelings for someone. Moreover, the two versions that have been released seem to have different appeals that people canโ€™t get enough of. Inspired and influenced by blues and funky tunes, Dilawโ€™s musicality is something familiar yet fresh to our ears. Notably, they have also been included on the NME 100 as โ€œone of the most essential emerging artists worldwideโ€ in 2023.

Excitingly, the bandโ€™s latest single has the same theme โ€” love. Although, โ€œOrasaโ€ focuses more on how bittersweet it is. It has a repetitive sound and steady rhythm, but the choir chants account for the fullness of the song. โ€œTungkol siya sa mga na-witness kong nadededz na pag-ibig, yung malapit na mag-break,โ€ vocalist and songwriter Dilaw Obero explains. On why the song is titled that way, he adds, โ€œKapag andun ka kasi sa sitwasyon na yun, pakiramdam mo lahat paulit-ulit lang โ€” parang binabali-baliktad lang na orasa bawat araw.โ€

Rhythm guitarist and composer Vie Dela Rosa also notes that the song is reminiscent of a toxic relationship. โ€œYung kahit ganun, gusto mo pa rin na andun ka.โ€ Despite frustrations, the song carries a resilient hope or desire for someoneโ€™s return that perseveres through lifeโ€™s twists and turns.

Now being received by the general public with its release on all digital streaming platforms, the band members of Dilaw want to share their thoughts on โ€œOrasaโ€ and their message to its listeners.

Dilaw was originally an alternative hip-hop duo consisting of singer-songwriter Dilaw Obero (vocals) and guitarist-instrumentalist Vie Dela Rosa. Eventually, the group expanded into a full indie rock collective with the addition of Wayne Dela Rosa (bass guitar), Leon Altomonte (guitar), En Altomonte (keyboards, synths), and Tobi Samson (drums).

On October 3, Dilaw and the bandโ€™s home label, Warner Music Philippines, will hold an intimate and exclusive โ€œDi Ilaw Sa Gabing Mapanglawโ€ to celebrate the release with stripped-down performances with a string quartet. With attendees composed of fellow OPM artists, social media influencers, brand partners, and members of the media, it is expected that more and more people will continue to know the band and acknowledge them for their wonderful music.

  • One Ok Rock’s Luxury Disease Tour Sets Manila Aflame

One Ok Rock’s Luxury Disease Tour Sets Manila Aflame

How glorious it is to be a part of an experience brimming with electrifying energy, leaving you yearning for ways to capture the fiery atmosphere of the moment, encapsulate all the emotions, and pour them all into a bottle to preserve eternally. This is precisely how One Ok Rockโ€™s Luxury Disease Asia Tour in Manila made us feel.

Photo from One Ok Rock on Facebook

Japanese quartet, One Ok Rock, returned to the country on September 26 at the Araneta Coliseum, five years after they last came for their Ambitions tour. It was a damp and windy afternoon, but the crowds waiting at the gates were so dense that the chilly weather went unnoticed. The fans’ excitement was justified – the band was initially scheduled to perform here in May 2020 but had to move dates around because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The eager anticipation would be rewarded that evening with a setlist that stirred both tears and screams.

The venue resounded with loud cheers throughout the night, and stomps reverberated all over the arena as a dedicated crowd declared their adoration. Ryota would later remark on social media that this was the first time theyโ€™d heard stomping during their acoustic set.

    ONE OK ROCK
Photo from One Ok Rock on Facebook

“Let Me Let You Go” and “Neon” featured staggering instrumental breakdowns. One Ok Rock could be an instrumental band with how Ryota, Tomoya, and Toru enthralled the audience with their masterful instrument-playing coupled with red-hot passion and playful showmanship. Taka remained the powerhouse vocalist weโ€™ve come to expect. Not once did his voice falter despite dancing and running in all directions. As he sustained a high note for “Clock Strikes,” jaws hit the floor while fans held their breath in sync with him.

Photo from One Ok Rock on Facebook

For two hours on Tuesday, One Ok Rock owned The Big Dome. The crowd was an orchestra and Taka was the conductor. We were singing, clapping, jumping, raising our fists, and headbanging. For “Stand Out Fit In,” Taka had everyone ducking down to gather momentum for a synchronized jump. “Your Tears are Mine” involved the special participation of Filipino fans who nailed it just like another regular day at the karaoke.

The night was supposed to conclude with “Wherever You Are” during the encore, but the band decided to extend their generosity. They quipped โ€œAre you guys still alive?โ€ before surprising the audience with a song they hadn’t performed in quite some time – the enduring crowd-pleaser, “Kanzen Kankaku Dreamer.”

    One Ok Rock
Photo from One Ok Rock on Facebook

Major props go out to the technical team behind the concert. This writer has been to numerous shows at the Araneta Coliseum, but the venue has never sounded as pristine as it did on the 26th. One Ok Rockโ€™s music is best experienced live and the crew delivered with their expertise, which we find especially meaningful knowing that somewhere in the audience is a visually-impaired gentleman we saw at the gates. He may not have seen the band, but he heard them under the best conditions.

One Ok Rock has a track record of fulfilling their commitments. During their initial Manila gig in 2016, they vowed to return and did solid on that in 2018. After their 2018 show, they made the same pledge, and now here they are once more. This time, theyโ€™ve sworn to come back in three years. After waiting for five years to see them again, what’s another three?

Photo courtesy of TWICE / JYP Entertainment

We had an incredible opportunity to be a part of the electrifying TWICE READY TO BE Tour at the iconic Philippine Arena. From start to finish, the concert was a mesmerizing experience that showcased the group’s exceptional vocals, flawless dance moves, and undeniable stage presence.

From the moment they stepped on stage and opened with their song ‘SET ME FREE,’ the energy was palpable. The crowd of Filipino ONCEs erupted into cheers and applause.

Throughout the sold-out concert, TWICE showcased their versatile talent and charismatic presence. ‘I CAN’T STOP ME’ had the audience dancing and singing along with them. It was a perfect blend of catchy melodies and powerful choreography.

But it didn’t stop there. TWICE also made a special effort to connect with their Filipino fans by speaking in tagalog, which was met with even louder cheers and applause. This gesture truly showed their appreciation for their international fanbase.

One of the highlights of the night was when each member performed solo stages. Dahyun impressed the audience with her beautiful piano rendition of Frozenโ€™s โ€˜Let It Goโ€™ and Colbie Calliat’s ‘Try.’ Tzuyu showcased her vocal abilities with a mesmerizing cover of Charlie Puth’s ‘Done for Me.’ Sana delivered an electrifying performance of Dua Lipa’s ‘New Rules.’ Momo wowed everyone with her captivating dance cover of Beyoncรฉ’s ‘Move.’ And Mina showcased her versatility by confidently taking on Ariana Grande’s ‘7 Rings.’ They then brought out band versions of โ€˜Feel Specialโ€™, โ€˜Cry for Meโ€™, โ€˜Fancyโ€™, and โ€˜The Feelsโ€™.

Jihyo continued the solo stages, taking over the arena with her solo song, โ€˜Killinโ€™ Me Goodโ€™, much to the delight of ONCEs. Jeongyeon put the energy on high with her rendition of Justin Timberlakeโ€™s โ€˜Canโ€™t Stop the Feelingโ€™.

One of my favorite moments was Nayeon’s captivating solo performance of “Pop.” Her powerful vocals and engaging stage presence left the audience in awe, capturing everyone’s attention effortlessly. It was a true testament to Nayeon’s talent and charisma as a performer.

But the performances were far from over. After captivating the audience with their respective solo stages, the girls returned with Queen of Hearts and their title song medley featuring Yes or Yes, What Is Love?, Cheer Up, Likey, Knock Knock, Scientist, and Heart Shaker.

Another unforgettable moment was Jihyoโ€™s โ€œshot puno!” to the Filipino ONCEs which preceded their ‘Alcohol-Free’ stage. Her warm and genuine connection with the fans created an atmosphere of unity and excitement which went on and grew with Dance the Night Away and Talk that Talk.

The members expressed their appreciation to fans who patiently waited for their return to the Philippine concert stage โ€”gratitude that went both ways as ONCEs successfully gave TWICE a fan project to remember with banners of โ€œThank you for keeping your promise. Thank you for coming back.โ€

The girl group performed a heartwarming stage of When We Were Kids, followed by Crazy Stupid Love. Making up for the technical problems during her solo in Feel Special, Jihyo treated ONCEs with a repeat performance of her mesmerizing solo. Similarly, the girl group made sure that their fans go home with memories of their best stages, performing Queen of Hearts once more to make up for the audio problems during their first performance of the song.

TWICE closed the first day of READY TO BE in Bulacan with BDZ and HOT.

Throughout the concert, TWICE treated us to a diverse setlist, showcasing their versatility as artists. From their infectious hits to their heartwarming ballads, each song was delivered with precision and passion. The synchronization of their dance routines was astounding, leaving fans in awe of their flawless performances.

But what truly set this concert apart was the undeniable chemistry between the members and their fans. TWICE’s interactions with the audience were heartwarming and genuine, creating an intimate atmosphere despite the massive venue. The love and energy exchanged between them created a memorable experience for everyone present.

The READY TO BE tour was an unforgettable experience filled with non-stop energy, jaw-dropping performances, and heartfelt moments. TWICE proved once again why they are one of the biggest names in K-pop. They left their Filipino ONCEs buzzing with excitement and longing for more. Their ability to create a genuine connection with the audience made this concert truly special. I can confidently say that this concert will be etched in my memory forever.

  • Between U and Me: A Beautiful Memory with Kim Bum

Between U and Me: A Beautiful Memory with Kim Bum

More than a decade later, Kim Bum came back to the Philippine shore for a heartwarming reunion with his Filipino fans!

Kim Bum returned to the Philippines for his first-ever fan meeting titled Between U and Me at the New Frontier Theater on September 22. Presented by VIU Philippines, the two-hour show was a fun reunion between the actor and his fans.

Well known for his role as the chaebol playboy in the Korean iteration of Boys Over Flowers in 2009, Kim Bum became a beloved figure in the Philippines at the peak of the dramaโ€™s popularity. In the same year, he visited Manila to shoot an advertisement for a popular beverage brand. However, back then, his fans barely got to see him partly due to the apparent aftershock of Typhoon Ondoy. Now, thankfully in better circumstances, fans got to see and experience different sides of his personality โ€“ the perfectionist, the entertainer, and the all-around charmer.

Now a seasoned actor at 34 years old, he is also known for his acclaimed roles in the dramas Tale of the Nine-Tailed, Ghost Doctor, and Law School. The title Between U and Me is an alternative acronym taken from his first name BUM. As he told the crowd, he scrupulously worked out the details of the fan meet for 3 months, modifying the program as well as rehearsing his special performances.

We saw the fruits of his labor in his segments such as the Kim Bum Awards and Bumโ€™s TMI wherein we learned that he falls under the INTJ/The Architect category for his MBTI; his favorite season is spring (like the meaning of his name Bum/Beom); and he prefers to be identified as cool instead of cute. More to that, his most memorable role was when he played Lee Rang in the drama Tale of the Nine-Tailed, but he will always be very grateful for his role in Boys Over Flowers as it was through it that many of his fans got to know him.

Kim Bum also flaunted his refined skills as an idol. He performed covers from the soundtracks of the dramas he appeared in, including โ€œBecause Iโ€™m Stupidโ€, โ€œKiss the Rainโ€ and โ€œWind Songโ€. As a bonus, he sang โ€œMy Universeโ€ originally by Coldplay and BTS, much to the crowdโ€™s surprise. The audience also got to see his quirky dance moves when he danced certain portions of trendy K-pop hits like Jisooโ€™s โ€œFlowerโ€ and LE SSERAFIMโ€™s โ€œEve, Psyche & the Bluebeardโ€™s Wifeโ€.

Lucky fans also got their chance to get up close and personal with him onstage. A lottery was held before the start of the show and the winners had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play relay games with Kim Bum himself during the event. Some even got a rare selfie with him (plus a short hug).

With an unwaveringly bright smile from start to end, Kim Bum expressed his gratitude to his fans. โ€œSobrang nafeel ko ang pagmamahal niyo today. Iingatan ko ito sa puso ko hanggang sa susunod nating pagkikitaโ€, he said. (Translation: I greatly felt your love today. I will carefully take this with me until our next meeting.)

    Special thanks to VIU Philippines!

  • Wish You Were Here: Neck Deep Gives Manila An Evening to Remember in Sold-Out Concert

Wish You Were Here: Neck Deep Gives Manila An Evening to Remember in Sold-Out Concert

The energy was off the chart as the Philippine concert crowd welcomed Neck Deep to the local concert scene for the third time last September 22!

Welsh pop-punk band Neck Deep, composed of Ben Barlow, Matt West, Sam Bowden, Seb Barlow, and Matt Powles, opened their sold-out concert at the SM Skydome with “Sonderland” and “Lowlife” from their 2020 studio album, All Distortions Are Intentional. With high-up energy from the opening, the band continued to put out hit after hit as they brought out their 2015 songs “Ka Lima”, “Citizens of Earth”, and “Can’t Kick Up the Roots.”

The sold-out Manila show also concluded Neck Deep’s Southeast Asia Tour which brought them to Kuala Lumpur, Surabaya, Jakarta, Medan, Singapore, Bangkok, and finally landing in the Philippines. Additionally, the concert marked the band’s first performance in the country after five years following their 2018 show. Neck Deep debuted on the Philippine concert stage in 2016.

Third time’s the charm, indeed, as the pop-punk band and their devoted fans did not hold back in making the evening euphoric. After putting out the 2014 song “What Did You Expect?”, “STFU”, “Heartbreak”, and “Take Me With You” resonated in the SM Skydome. “Smooth Seas Don’t Make Good Sailors”, but a great band like Neck Deep makes music that will last a lifetime. Eleven years after their formation, the band remains a powerful institution in the music scene, and the concert last September 22 was enough proof that the Philippines will want them back on the concert stage.

Wish you were there to witness lights illuminating SM Skydome in “Wish You Were Here”, which succeeded “When You Know” and “She’s A God”. But Neck Deep allowed the emotions to wave through the venue more in “A Part of Me” and “December”.

An unprecedented night and a dream that lived in reality for every fan of Neck Deep. The concert concluded with requests granted, emotions high, voices loud and proud, and moments lived in the best possible way as “Motion Sickness”, “Gold Steps”, and “In Bloom” marked the end. Ben gave a shout-out to PULP Live World and its CEO Vernon Go for bringing them back for the third time to the Philippine concert stageโ€”three sold-out shows at the SM Skydome. โ€œI also want to say a huge thank you to Vernon, and to the whole PULP team for having usโ€”for putting this show on… To every single one of you who is here with us right now, you allowed us to live such a beautiful and blessed life, so thank you so much. We love you so much, Manila. Thank you for all the love in return.โ€

“The SE Asia tour is over and weโ€™re real sad about it. Thank you so much to Kuala Lumpur, Surabaya, Jakarta, Medan, Singapore, Bangkok and Manila. Some of the biggest, best, and most fun weโ€™ve had on stage and on tour. Weโ€™ll be back soon,” wrote the band.

  • joan and Manila Got Something Special

joan and Manila Got Something Special

joan held their first headlining show in Manila with a pop at the New Frontier Theater on September 19. Presented by Live Nation, their Superglue Tour was met with hundreds of avid fans who jammed with them.

    joan

The American indie pop duo, composed of Alan Benjamin Thomas and Steven Rutherford, are no strangers to the Filipino stage. They had been part of a widely successful music festival and had a run of co-headlining mall shows with Honne in 2019.

โ€œWeโ€™ve been here 3 or 4 times. Every time we come here, it feels like a big, warm hug,โ€ Alan told the crowd.

joan opened the show with the sentimental โ€œlife death & everything betweenโ€. This was immediately followed by their lighter bops โ€œsimpleโ€, โ€œfeeling like dancingโ€ and โ€œsomething specialโ€.

    joan

It was easy to get into the groove of joanโ€™s music. Their blend of light rock, interspersed with 90s electro-pop, saccharine tunes, and relatable lyrics, easily makes them familiar and likable. The duoโ€™s stage presence was also electric and captivating.

The mood turned mellow for their stripped-down set for โ€œmagneticโ€, โ€œmonstersโ€ and โ€œi loved you firstโ€.

โ€œWe released our debut album called superglue. We put a lot of work into that like every band ever, but it means a lot to us since itโ€™s our most personal album yet. We wrote songs about our new babies, we talked about our wives, heartache, loss, the meaning of life,โ€ Alan said before playing the song. He also thanked the crowd for the unforgettable evening.

The good vibes kept rolling as the band played their signature tracks like โ€œtokyoโ€, โ€œlove somebody like youโ€ and โ€œso goodโ€.

  • Taecyeon’s SpecialTY: Remarkable Aptitude Showcased During His Fan Meet in Manila

Taecyeon’s SpecialTY: Remarkable Aptitude Showcased During His Fan Meet in Manila

Special days with OK TAECYEON! The singer-actor reunited with his Filipino OKtizens, who enveloped the New Frontier Theater with loud cheers!

South Korean singer-actor Ok Taecyeon came back to the Philippines to meet his Filipino fans. The Vicenzo star held his 2023 OK TAECYEON IN MANILA: SpecialTY at the New Frontier Theater last Saturday, September 23. After being away for ten years, he expressed his happiness to be back in the nation, noting that he had last visited Manila in 2013 with 2PM.

Taecyeon said during the interview part how the name “SpecialTY” was chosen. He said, “It’s like the word specialty, and I just wanted my name, Taecyeon, to be in it. I really wanted to have this fan meeting to be very special for me.”

PH OKtizens and Hottests were undoubtedly the happiest when he played the renowned OPM band Side A’s “Forevermore.” He was on point, and we could tell by the way he inhaled and sang each lyric. Additionally, he sang “Champagne” from 2PM’s MUST album, “Magic,” “Promise (I’ll Be”) from their Gentlemen’s Game album, “Hands Up” from their second studio album of the same name, and “Toc Toc Toc” from his 2017 release Taecyeon Special: Winter Hitori.

In addition to his performances, he also read fan letters, performed games, distributed special presents, one of which was the coffee he prepared live, and explained the meanings behind the images displayed on stage.

The half-human, half-vampire character from the Korean drama Heartbeat, Sun Woo-Hyeol, walked down the platform to his fans and obliged their requests for warm embraces and selfies, making the night really memorable. Additionally, he accepts the moniker “Borta” Bortaecyeon.

The show lasted for two hours, and fans were able to do their service for him with a fan project. Taecyeon vowed to return soon and, if at all possible, alongside the other 2PM members, and he urged us to always be content and prosperous. And like any superstar, Taecyeon’s most recent fan meet in Manila demonstrated his unwavering dedication to his devoted fan base in a stunning way, more than making up for the long wait they endured. The renowned artist’s outstanding fan service at the occasion made a lasting impression, exceeding all expectations and establishing his reputation as a role model of devotion and appreciation for his fans.

The 2023 OK TAECYEON IN MANILA: SpecialTY was made possible and presented by 51K, Twenty Two Plus, PULP Live World, and Happee Hour. Special thanks to PULP Live World for the invitation to the press conference and the event.

  • Club Mild confronts past mistakes and regrets on new single โ€œSun Gazerโ€

Club Mild confronts past mistakes and regrets on new single โ€œSun Gazerโ€

Previously known as M1LDL1FE, the Singaporean alt-pop trio, Club Mild, embraces the next chapter of their music career with a balance of rhythm and introspection.

Singapore-based indie pop trio Club Mild confronts impermanence with regret and meaninglessness on their latest single, โ€œSun Gazer.โ€ Weaving a tapestry of introspection that resonates on multiple levels, the indie pop anthem combines vivid lyrical metaphors with funk guitars and pulsating electronic beatsโ€”a musical ode to facing mortality, embracing meaninglessness, and the overwhelming power of being the author of your own life.

According to David Siow, the band bassist, โ€œSun Gazerโ€ was inspired by the feeling of being wracked with regrets that you end up โ€œgoing around in circlesโ€ and โ€œcontemplating about bad life choices.โ€

Siow adds, โ€œAt the same time, you worry about making the same mistakes in the future. This back-and-forth between past regrets and fear of the future overwhelms you. Itโ€™s like staring at the sun, thinking youโ€™ll find safety if you can find the edges. You end up in this hollow state of โ€œnot livingโ€. Yeah, itโ€™s about that, but with dancing.โ€

    Club Mild

With a chorus that beckons, “I wanna go back and undo the things Iโ€™ve done,” the song captures the sentiment of being paralyzed by the weight of past mistakes. But amidst this introspection lies a spark of hope, a yearning to transcend the confines of regret and find forgiveness within.

The song is written and performed by Club Mild, and produced by Malcolm Besley, a record producer, songwriter, and mix engineer who is also the drummer of Northeast Party House, a Melbourne-based electronic indie band.

โ€œWeโ€™ve always been fans of this band called Northeast Party House; we even covered one of their songs once,โ€ shares Siow. โ€œSo when Paddy found out that their drummer, Malcolm Besley, was their main producer, we reached out, did the Zoom calls, and got to work. Malcolm is brilliant; he managed to make all of the elements of Sun Gazer really slap!โ€

Formerly known as M1LDL1FE, the eclectic Singaporean band has performed in the Philippines twice, sharing co-headliner billing with Deafheaven and Delta Sleep on 2018โ€™s All Of The Noise and performing as one of the guest international acts at last yearโ€™s GNN Year End Show in 123 Block.
