Korean celebrity Kim Ji Soo has made history as the first non-Filipino guest on the hit reality show Pinoy Big Brother (PBB). He stepped into the PBB Celebrity Collab Edition on Monday, April 7, 2025, bringing a fresh wave of excitement and Korean star power to the iconic show.
Upon his arrival, Houseguest Ji Soo was greeted with a surprise performance by the female PBB houseguests, who showcased their talents with a P-Pop rendition of the PBB theme song “Sikat Ang Pinoy.” The warm and entertaining welcome set the tone for Ji Soo’s time sa “Bahay ni Kuya,” allowing viewers to witness the diverse personalities and skills of the housemates.
Throughout his stay, Ji Soo quickly endeared himself to the group, engaging in playful interactions, sharing jokes, and even initiating skits for the housemates to perform. One of the memorable moments was when Ji Soo and housemate Esnyr demonstrated the classic K-Drama scenario where strangers bump into each other and experience love at first sight, which escalated pretty quickly when Ji Soo told Esnyr, “I love you.”
The heartthrob also shared sweet “sana all” moments with housemate Klarisse de Guzman, showcasing his affectionate side as he playfully hugged and princess-carried her. Housemate Josh Ford on the other hand even taught Ji Soo how to say “mahal na mahal kita” to Klarisse. These interactions have undoubtedly captured the hearts of viewers and fans alike.
In an exclusive interview, Ji Soo revealed that he formed a close bond with housemate Michael Sager, who warmly welcomed him from the very beginning of his PBB journey. Ji Soo also expressed his fondness for Josh, whom he sees as a younger brother, appreciating the guidance Josh provided him throughout the various tasks. Reflecting on his experience, Ji Soo shared his joy in creating small yet meaningful moments with the housemates, including cooking ramen for everyone — a special treat given their limited budget.
Ji Soo’s three-day stay inside the PBB house may be over but the new connections and fun memories are things he will not easily forget. Through the show, fans and viewers were able to see a more candid side of the Korean star. TV5 and MLD Entertainment PH unveiled Be the NEXT: 9 Dreamers during a star-studded media launch held on January 20 in Quezon City. The event marked the start of the official countdown to the premiere of this highly anticipated K-pop survival show on February 8.
2NE1’s Sandara Park, Momoland’s Hyebin, AB6IX’s Park Woojin, Bang Yedam, HORI7ON’s Vinci, Bae Wan Hee, and Bull$Eye for the Be the Next: 9 Dreamers’ media launch last January 20. Due to his schedule, EXO’s Chen, who will also serve as mentor on the show, was unable to join the event.
The show brings together 75 aspirants from the global auditions held in 2024, each vying for a coveted spot in a new 9-member boy group. These dreamers will go through an intense journey, guided by an esteemed panel of mentors and judges to achieve their dreams of becoming global idols.
Attendees at the media launch were treated to an exclusive glimpse of the program, hosted by K-pop icon 2NE1’s Sandara Park. She was joined by a talented lineup of mentors, including AB6IX’s Park Woojin, Bang Ye-dam, HORI7ON’s Vinci, Hyebin (formerly of MOMOLAND), renowned choreographer Bae Wan Hee, and acclaimed producer Bullseye.
One of the main highlights of the event was the Parade of Trainees, where the 75 contestants were revealed to the media for the first time. Each individual has a unique talent and story to tell as they compete for a spot in the final 9-member group.

Be the Next: 9 Dreamers is a talent survival show which brings gifted individuals from across Asia to showcase their potential on the global stage. From the global audition held in 2024, the aspirants have been narrowed down to 74, whose dreams are about to take flight – but not without fighting their way to debut as part of a new 9-member boy group.
These dreamers will find themselves under the guidance of expert judges and mentors from the industry to become global idols. The exciting line-up includes 2NE1’s Sandara Park as the show’s emcee, with EXO-CBX Chen, MOMOLAND Hye-bin, AB6IX Woo-jin Park, Ye-dam Bang, and HORI7ON Vinci comprising the celebrity mentors. Leading K-pop choreographer Bae Wan Hee and producer Bullseye will participate as dance mentors.
Known Korean make-up artist and stylist Narae Park and hair salon JUNO HAIR will aid the boys in their transformation into certified K-pop heartthrobs.

The plot and the twists
Shōgun is big, bloody, and beautiful. While it is rooted in the real history of the period, the show follows fictional feudal lords as they each work their way to acquire more power and control. You will find yourself rooting for characters while suspecting others of their real motives. Cunning characters, their shady background, and twisted views will keep you on your toes as you immerse yourself into the worlds of a great Japanese military ruler, a Japanese noblewoman, and a Dutch pilot, all with their agendas.
The miniseries is a classic story about the fight for power and control but what the show does is depict Japanese culture in a way that’s never seen before on a show of this scale. The source material
Shōgun is based on James Clavell’s renowned book, selling more than 15 million copies. It is set in 1600 Japan at the dawn of the Japanese civil war. And if you’re thinking you’ve seen a show like this before, it’s probably because it had previously graced TV–in 1980. The show was a hit and is considered one of the most successful miniseries produced by its home network.
Why recreate something already great then? In the case of Shōgun, the reason is multi-faceted. To honor the book’s fans and the author’s dedication to accurate details, telling the story from a more Japanese-centered lens, and to reflect the political climate of the time, and relating it to today’s landscape are just some of the driving forces behind the move. And if that’s not enough reason for you, even the author’s daughter, Michaela Clavell, who has been managing James Clavell’s publishing rights since 1981, approved of the show’s magnificent portrayal, which she expressed during the press conference. She serves as an executive producer for the show.
Japanese veteran actor and martial artist Hiroyuki Sanada leads the cast
Yes, the show’s lead does look familiar. Yes, you’ve seen him wield a katana many times before. And most recently, you’ve seen him in big Hollywood films alongside Keanu Reeves in John Wick and Brad Pitt in Bullet Train. But before all of that, he was also in Sigaw Ng Puso, a 1995 Filipino film with Lorna Tolentino and Sharmaine Arnaiz! Sanada is, indeed, no stranger to extravagant productions and heavy and dramatic storytelling. His decades-long career and expertise in the world of the samurai (he’s a martial artist, too!), made him a perfect fit as the show’s producer.
Other members of the stellar cast include actress Anna Sawai, who plays Lady Toda Mariko, and recently appeared in the Emmy-nominated limited series Pachinko. Cosmo Jarvis, known for his 2022 performance in Persuasion, stars as John Blackthorne. Acclaimed Japanese cast members include Tadanobu Asano (Welcome Home, Monet), Hiroto Kanai (Tuna Girl), Takehiro Hira (The Swarm), and Moeka Hoshi (Dependence).
The top-tier costumes and production design
No Japanese historical drama is complete without the iconic samurai armor, kimono, and katana. Soon, you’ll be wielding your Japanese sword and designing your costumes based on your favorite characters. The show exerted clear-cut direction to bring every aspect of the show, including gestures and etiquette per societal class, to accurately portray 1600 Japan. Shōgun employed several Japanese experts to serve as consultants for the show, including three masters of gestures. The group of advisors ensured that movement and behavior among the different classes of the Japanese characters were accurate to the period.
Travel back in time and live in Japan’s history-defining era. Centuries-old castles, fishing villages, traditional home interiors, and the 1600 Japanese landscape, including vegetation come alive as the show deploys an undefeated commitment to preserving the show’s accuracy to the most minute details.
The big-gun directors
For a show of this scale, you need visionaries willing to spend years to make this show a reality. Shōgun employed the minds behind some of the most beautiful and captivating stories of recent times.
You may know Frederick E.O. Toye, who directed 4 episodes of Shōgun, for helming Watchmen in 2019 and The Terminal List in 2022. Thriller series director Jonathan van Tulleken directed 2 episodes of Shōgun, bringing with him his recent work with the post-apocalyptic dystopian thriller Snowpiercer in 2020. Japanese director Takeshi Fukunaga is no stranger to bringing Japanese stories to the screen with his recent work, Ainu Mosir. Hiromi Kamata also joins the list of top-gun directors, notable for his work in Selena: The Series.

At a young age, Park Eun Bin began her career in acting, starring in various productions often as the younger versions of the female leads or as a supporting career. In 2012, the actress landed her first lead role in the Korean remake of the Japanese drama, Operation Love, playing the character of Ham Yi-seul. Titled Operation Proposal, the drama saw her work with fellow child actor Yoo Seung Ho who played the role of Kang Baek-ho.
Synopsis:
Since elementary school, Ham Yi-seul and Kang Baek-ho have been close friends. Unaware that Yi-seul has been in love with him for more than 20 years, Baek-ho has never expressed his affection to her. At the wedding ceremony when Yi-seul is set to wed another man (Jin-won), Baek-ho finally expresses guilt over the fact that he never professed his love for the bride. He is given another opportunity to win Yi-seul’s heart when an enigmatic conductor emerges out of nowhere. In an effort to alter the course of their love, Baek-ho goes back in time to different moments in their lives.
Drama #2: Hello, My Twenties!
For two seasons, Park Eun Bin gave to life the character of Song Ji-won in the television series Hello, My Twenties. With her character taking on the central role in the second season, the actress admitted feeling pressured. “In the second season, I felt a bit burdened because there were certain roles that I needed to fulfill within the character,” she said in her interview with Korea JoongAng Daily.
Synopsis:
In the slice-of-life story, Hello, My Twenties, five girls who share a home called “Belle Epoque” learn to know one another through the struggles of adolescence. It is based on problems that South Korean youth are likely to experience.
Following the end of the second season of Hello, My Twenties, Park Eun Bin immediately returned to the small screen, playing the role of Lee Jung-joo, a fiery-tempered judge who presides over the Seoul District Court and who can’t control her feelings and uses abhorrent language to lash out at unscrupulous defendants.
Her portrayal in the drama earned her a nomination for Excellence Award for an Actress in a Wednesday-Thursday drama at the 2017 SBS Drama Awards.
Synopsis:
The drama revolves around a fiery judge named Lee Jung-joo who strives to prove the innocence of her older brother, who was murdered while attempting to clear his name after being falsely accused of rape and murder.
Park Eun Bin reunited with her Hur Jun, the Original Story co-star Namkoong Min for Hot Stove League. The actress Lee Se-young, The Dreams’ operations manager. The drama was well-received by both the audience and the critics, with the drama and the cast members earning recognition from various award-giving bodies.
Park Eun Bin received the Best Actress Award from the 33rd Grimae Awards and nominations from the SBS Drama Awards and APAN Star Awards.
Synopsis:
A professional baseball team from Korea named The Dreams has finished worst in the league for the previous four years. When their general manager leaves, the team hires Baek Seung-soo to take over, despite Seung-soo having no prior experience leading a baseball team. Seung-soo has managed multiple championship-winning sports teams. Despite the looming fact that every team he has managed before has folded after winning the championship, Seung-soo uses his outsider’s insight and the assistance of operations manager Se-young and Jae-hee to upend the Dreams’ culture in an effort to create a championship-winning team. Seung-soo is faced with shrinking budgets, internal strife among the coaching staff, and a team that is deeply set in its ways.
Park Eun Bin teamed up with Kim Min Jae in the television series Do You Like Brahms? The actress played Chae Song Ah in the drama, a portrayal which gave her the Top Excellence Award, Actress in a Miniseries Fantasy/Romance Drama at the SBS Drama Awards in 2020.
Synopsis:
Song Ah finds the challenges of her new academic and musical life overwhelming. Joong Young, a gifted musician, walks into her life one day. Song Ah enrolls in the music program at the same university where she first majored in commerce, in violation of her family’s objections. Based on Lee So-young’s manhwa Yeonmo, The King’s Affection aired on KBS2 from October 11 to December 14, 2021, with Park Eun Bin and SF9’s Ro Woon taking on the lead roles. Park Eun Bin played the characters of Crown Prince Lee Hwi, Dam-yi, and Yeon-seon in the series.
Her performance in the drama earned her different awards at the KBS Drama Awards, namely the Top Excellence Award, Popularity Award, and Best Couple Award with Ro Woon.

Lee Hwi (Dam-yi) begins having feelings for Jung Ji-woon, her first love and subsequent teacher who comes from a noble family, despite the fact that she removes herself from everyone.
When talking about Park Eun Bin’s impressive filmography, we can never miss her outstanding performance as Attorney Woo Young-woo in the critically-acclaimed and high-rated drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo. With its final episode recording 17.5% nationwide ratings, the television series became the seventh highest-rated drama in Korean cable television history.

At this first stage of the auditions, artists sing while the coaches are seated with their backs turned against them, if the coaches like what they hear, they press the red button and their seats turn to face the artist. When a coach turns, the artist automatically goes to his or her team; but when two or more coaches turn- the artist will get the power to pick which coach or team he or she wants to join
