G Music Fest: A symphony of Pinoy music, tech, creativity, plus sustainable practices

Globe is elevating the Pinoy festival experience with its 4th G Music Fest on September 16 at the Ayala Circuit Makati Open Grounds.

As part of the much-anticipated annual G Day celebration, this year’s event promises an unforgettable blend of music, creativity, and technology, all while championing sustainability.

With this comeback, G Music Fest transforms itself into a music and creator festival where music meets creativity, old meets new, and where digital meets real.

Attendees will be treated to performances from G Music Fest’s first-ever all-local lineup, a dynamic mix of OPM legends and rising stars in partnership with Warner Music and Sony Music. The festival boasts a stellar all-Filipino lineup of artists such as Urbandub, The Itchyworms, December Avenue, I Belong To The Zoo, Lola Amour, Dilaw, Bini, PLAYERTWO, Paul Pablo, Sugarcane, Mayonnaise, Ace Banzuelo, Nobita, Munimuni, Joem, Syd Hartha, and Drag Race PH sure to give a musical experience that will resonate with every generation.

“Our vision for this year’s G Music Fest is to create a space where music, creativity, technology, and sustainability converge. We want to celebrate the rich tapestry of Pinoy talent while also showcasing the innovations that make such celebrations possible,” said Globe Rewards Senior Manager and G Day Program Lead Peter Ramirez.

Diving deeper into the realm of creativity and community building, the Creator Hub is set to be another festival highlight. Visitors can immerse themselves in DIY experiences, including a Live Mural Show, Gudi Drip Studio, and a Busker Stage. The paint-and-sip activity through Drip Splash also promises a fusion of art and relaxation, making it a must-try for all.

The festival aims to push the boundaries of digital art, offering everyone a chance to interact with installations such as Sketch To Life, the Digital Art Tunnel, Caption Cam, and the Immersive Art Cube, celebrating the fusion of art and technology.

G Music Fest will showcase the future of technology with Globe’s 5G applications. Guests may also enjoy immersive AR/VR games via 5G Pixel Play. Partnerships with brands like BENCH and MYX Global will further elevate the experience, offering engagements like the DJ lounge.

While enjoying the music, festival-goers can also indulge in a gastronomic journey with a diverse range of food options that will be available at the event: Better Than Ice Cream (BTIC), Kurimu, Pocofino, Jamba Juice, Pancake House, Yellow Cab, Pickup Coffee, Shakeys, and Army Navy. Plus, with official alcohol partners Coca-Cola and San Miguel Brewery, the festivities are sure to be in high spirits.

G Music Fest also aims to set a new standard in implementing sustainable practices in events. Not only does it aim to limit the use of single-use plastics among vendors, but it is also promoting a BYO (Bring Your Own) initiative for festival-goers, with water refilling stations brought by Klean Kanteen scattered across the venue.

Globe also formed a collaboration with Ayala Logistics through Integrated Waste Management, Inc. (IWM), to ensure proper waste segregation, collection, and post-processing with priority for diverting wastes away from landfills through recycling and recovery, as well as deploying gender-neutral and water-efficient portalets.

Festival-goers will also have a cleaner transport choice with Globe deploying electric shuttles to and from the venue through its official shuttle partner, Global Electric Transport (GET). Pickup points will be at Alabang Town Center, One Ayala, and TriNoMa starting at 10 AM.

Join G Music Fest on September 16 in celebrating passions, creativity, and connections. It’s a day of music, art, and memories you won’t want to miss.

  • Linya-Linya Land 2023 Returns with a Blast

    Linya-Linya Land 2023 Returns with a Blast

It was a blast of laughter, music, advocacy, and art at the 123 Block, Mandala Park at Mandaluyong as Linya-Linya Land (LLL) made its triumphant return after four long years. Co-presented by Gabi Na Naman Productions, the event featured a diverse line-up of stand-up comedians, artists, and musicians.

At the side of the stage, artists’ booths were set up. Pol Medina Jr. had his Pugad Baboy comic saga and some mugs for sale. As a bonus, fans could also get their merchandise signed by him and snap a photo with him as well. Edwin Tayao, known for his jeepney signage art, was also a crowd favorite as he was taking requests on the spot. Rob Cham was also frequented by guests to have their live portraits drawn.

LLL’s advocacy partners including AHA Learning Center, Angat Buhay, and The Learning Lab at Bantayog ng mga Bayani also had their booths set up at the venue. Muralist AG Saño and Linya-Linya co-founder/painter Panch Alvarez were also seen painting live art as the main stage was abuzz. Their finished artworks were later auctioned off, the proceeds to be donated to their advocacy partners.

Stand-up comedians from Comedy Manila took the stage to incite a whirlwind of laughter from the crowd. You’d probably heard them in podcasts or seen them in noontime shows and television ads, but seeing them weave their magic live was a differently wonderful experience altogether. Jeleen Cubillas, Victor Anastacio, Nonong Ballinan, James Caraan, and GB Labrador shared their candid yet insightful takes on religion, politics, and popular culture.

Of course, leave it to Linya-Linya Land to feature a spectacular group of musicians. Autotelic was the first musical act to hype the stage. They performed “Gising”, “Takipsilim” and “Laro”.

With an acoustic guitar in hand, Nica Del Rosario paid homage to her musical influences by covering Kitchie Nadal’s “Huwag na Huwag Mong Sasabihin” and Spongecola’s “Jeepney”. She also performed “Tala” and “Rosas”.

The mood took a slight turn for the solemn and the romantic when Johnoy Danao, backed by a three-piece string orchestra, took the spotlight. Who knew “Right Time” and “Ikaw at Ako” could sound more poignant?

It was the rowdy kind of fun as Cheats rocked out during their set with songs like “Machine Jr.” and “Accidents”. Linya-Linya co-founder Ali Sangalang joined them onstage during their last song.

It was around 11 PM when Ebe Dancel took the stage, but the crowd was rejuvenated by his presence. He never fails to have the crowd singing along to “Prom”, “Bawat Daan” and “Burnout”.

In LLL 2023, we got to experience live comedy, live art, and live music all in one day. Can’t wait for what next year’s going to bring!

Special thanks to Linya-Linya and Gabi Na Naman Productions!

IN PHOTOS: Zark’s Fest 2023 Curates Outstanding Line-Up of OPM Artists for a Full-Day of Music

Zark’s Fest made a fantastic comeback for 2023 after a three-year absence due to the pandemic, offering OPM music from today’s new music to the veteran and iconic performers we love.

The sizzling hot summer in the Metro is welcomed by one of the Philippines’ most popular burger chains, Zark’s Burger, who sizzled their famed jawbreaker patties in the Circuit Event Grounds Makati including the Philippines’ most popular performers today last May 13, 2023. Zark’s Fest is the second installment of the festival and would have been the 5th music event if it wasn’t for the pandemic that stopped the world.

All in different genres, the music line-up started at noon that day, with the music fans, or the “Zarkadas” enjoying the games and prices plus all the good food and booze around the event grounds.

The novenary Filipino pride group Ben&Ben headlined the carefully curated line-up and performed hits like “Araw-Araw,” “Kathang Isip,“ “Di Ka Sayang,” and “Pagtingin.”

Among the artists are OPM legends like Sandwich and Urbandub who schooled the crowd on what real rock and roll music are, The Itchyworms, who sang their famous karaoke/barkada tunes like “Ang Beer na To’”, and Ebe Dancel who sang his most famous solo tracks and songs from his Sugarfree days like “Hari ng Sablay”, all of these artists showing young generations of music why they are dubbed as icons.

Zack Tabudlorepresented the Gen Z crowd and their hugots who sang their hearts out and even serenaded a fan on stage with songs like “Nangagamba,” “Binibini,” “Paano”, and “Yakap” Among the line-up BINI, who is currently called the “Nation’s Girl Group” and stood for the rising P-Pop music, as well as a multitude of brilliant performers such as artists like Autotelic, Kiyo, Hey June, Eli, and Six The North Star, Lola Amour, and Any Name’s Okay also electrified the stage.

It wouldn’t be a complete burger music fest if we didn’t have Guinness World Book of Record holder, Kevin “Zarkman” Medina who easily demonstrated to the crowd how to finish, not just a jawbreaker burger but a WHOLE jawbreaker large meal in under 5 minutes. The record holder even shared how he centers and prepares himself whenever he’s up to take on the 5-minute food wipe-out challenge and shared the stage with the hungry music crowd, ready to take on the challenge with him.

It was a smooth and eventful Zark’s Fest comeback with the Filipino music fans showing that despite the West and K-Pop dominating the music scene today, we are still here as ever loyal to our own, standing and chillin’ in a dedicated OPM music line-up, enduring the hot summer noon until midnight, all the while enjoying good music, good company and some burgers on the side– a typical bayanihan/family event of the world’s dubbed best concert crowd.

  • Two-day Korea travel fair marks Korea Tourism Organization’s (KTO) 10th anniversary in the Philippines

Two-day Korea travel fair marks Korea Tourism Organization’s (KTO) 10th anniversary in the Philippines

On September 10 and 11, 2022, the Glorietta Activity Center and Palm Drive Activity Center in Makati City will host the “2022 Korea Festival,” an event hosted by the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, and the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the opening of the KTO’s Manila Office. It is hoped that a massive Korea Travel Fair at the 2022 Korea Festival will pique Filipinos’ interest in visiting Korea and highlight the country’s rich cultural history. This event marks the first time the Embassy, the KTO, and the KCC have together celebrated Chuseok, the Korean national Thanksgiving holiday.

The Embassy, the Korea Tourism Organization, and the Korea Cultural Center have joined forces to host a two-day celebration of Korean culture and tourism. Wearing Hanbok, or Korean traditional clothes, playing Korean traditional games like ddakji, dalgona sweets, and jegichagi, and studying Hangeul, or Korean calligraphy, are all options for participants interested in showcasing tradition and Korea’s historically rich culture. Given that it is also Chuseok in Korea, it would be remiss of us not to mention the annual tradition of creating and eating Songpyeon, or half-moon-shaped rice cakes, which is a staple of the Korean Chuseok celebration. Meanwhile, up-to-date pursuits include busking and picnicking like you’re in Hongdae or along the Han River.

As of June 1, 2022, Filipinos will once again be able to visit Korea as tourists. By August of 2022, the number of Filipinos visiting Korea had increased by almost 60% year over year. The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) is teaming up with seven (7) airlines and five (5) local travel agencies to offer exclusive promo fares and installment deals for this weekend’s Korea Travel Fair, in the hopes of rekindling Filipinos’ interest in traveling abroad and encouraging them to make Korea their first international destination after the pandemic. Korean Air, Jeju Air, Asiana Airlines, Fly Gangwon, Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and Air Asia make up the other seven airlines. BPI credit and debit cardholders will have access to a variety of convenient payment choices and flexible financing plans at participating travel agencies such Ark Travel Express, Horizon Travel & Tours, Pan Pacific Travel Corporation, Rakso Air Travel & Tours, and Travel Specialist Ventures. During the promotional time, visitors who make purchases from the participating partners can redeem unique gifts from KTO.

The K-pop soloist and ex-member of SISTAR, SOYOU, will fly all the way from Korea to play for Filipino fans on September 11, 2022, as part of the festivities. She will perform several of her most well-known songs, such as “I Miss You” from the Korean drama Goblin, “Rain” with EXO’s Baekhyun, and the international smash hit “Some” with Junggigo. Artists of Korean origin such as Painters and Superstick will also be in attendance at the Manila show. The two-day stage program will feature live musical performances, a travel quiz and conversation show, entertaining games, and a blend of modern and traditional activities.
