This Dolly de Leon, Zanjoe Marudo, and Elijah Canlas Starrer is the Quintessential Netflix Family Drama this Holiday Season

Grab your lumpia & ready the tissues for this heartwarming family dramedy!

Christmas lights are on, bibingka vendors are lining up the streets, and the family holiday plans are abundant โ€“ thatโ€™s right, Pasko na naman! And what better way to tide the family holidays over than with a heartwarming film thatโ€™ll surely hit all the right notes (pun intended)?

Keys to the Heart is the Filipino remake of the beloved Korean film of the same name, starring Zanjoe Marudo as Joma. He plays the role of a washed-up boxer whose life takes an unexpected turn when he is suddenly reunited with his estranged mother Sylvia, played by Dolly de Leon, and his brother Jayjay, portrayed by Elijah Canlas. Recently fired from his job, Joma reluctantly agrees to stay at his mother’s house, where he is eventually left to care for his special-needs brother, a piano virtuoso preparing to participate in a prestigious music competition.

Aside from top-notch acting and the chaotic (yet oddly familiar) family plot line, hereโ€™s why you should add Netflixโ€™s Keys to the Heart to your holiday watchlist.

It shows that families arenโ€™t always perfect โ€“ and that itโ€™s okay.

At the heart of Keys to the Heart lies its central theme: the reconciliation between Joma and his mother, Sylvia, whose awkward reunion is shadowed by a shared tragedy from decades past. Joma, hardened by years of living on his own, is suddenly thrust into an unconventional family unit, attempting to find his place alongside a mother he barely knows and a brother he had never intended to connect with. In a world often dominated by idealized images of family dynamics, the film beautifully portrays the complexities and raw emotions that come with reuniting fractured families. It provides a refreshing reminder that real families are far from perfectโ€“and that itโ€™s absolutely okay. Weโ€™re reminded that familial love โ€“ in all its messy, unpredictable, and sometimes heartbreaking nature โ€“ can thrive amidst these imperfections.

It touches on the theme of forgiveness.

    Keys to the Heart

Christmas is often associated with themes of giving, kindness, goodwill, and most importantly, forgiveness โ€“ which is masterfully portrayed in Keys to the Heart. Over time, even the gritty Joma finds himself becoming protective of a brother he initially wanted nothing to do with and showing concern for a mother he despised. We witness his journey of letting go of the grudges and letting in compassion and understanding โ€“ virtues some of us might struggle to embrace, especially during the holiday season.

It emphasizes the magic of and in music.

    Keys to the Heart

And whatโ€™s Filipino Christmas without music? Or better yet, what are Filipinos without music, period? One of the most significant aspects of the film is embedded into Jayjayโ€™s musical ingenuity; it underscores the enchanting magic of music, laced throughout the narrative and into the lives of its characters. These transformative melodies bring healing and solace โ€“ not only for the characters but also for the viewers. Keys to the Heart reminds us that music, as a universal and unifying language, has the extraordinary power to touch and transform the hearts of people.

It teaches us the value of perseverance.

An effective Christmas movie not only brings joy to the viewers, but also imparts valuable lessons that carry into the new year. And what better way to show that than with tenacious protagonists who carry on and persevere amid their circumstances? Thereโ€™s Joma and his dedication to his craft โ€“ even after years of being stripped of his boxing license โ€“ and Jayjay with music and how he, in his own ways, pushes through in spite of his special needs. Together, the two remind us of possibilities and the strength and power of resilience.

It is simple yet comfortingโ€“a perfect watch for the holidays!

    Keys to the Heart

As the holiday season nears, we seek the cozy embrace of heartwarming films that capture the spirit of togetherness paired with the magic of the season, and Keys to the Heart effortlessly captures that through moments of laughter, tears, and heart-stirring moments. With a beautifully uncomplicated storyline, it offers a much-needed respite from the hustle and bustle of the season โ€“ and of life, really.

Prepare to be moved, entertained, and inspired by this Filipino remake. Watch Keys to the Heart, now showing on Netflix. Check out the trailer below:

  • ATEEZ Present: ATEEZ Brings Break the Wall Tour to a Magnificent End in Manila

ATEEZ Present: ATEEZ Brings Break the Wall Tour to a Magnificent End in Manila

It took years, but on September 16, at The Big Dome โ€” the very site where the first encounter took place โ€” ATEEZ and ATINY teamed together to make the boy group’s first solo concert in the Philippines a tremendous success and to bring the BREAK THE WALL World Tour to a successful conclusion.

ATEEZ, composed of Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung, and Jongho, made their musical debut in 2018 with their extended play Treasure EP.1: All to Zero. Since then, the boy group has grown significantly to become a recognizable K-Pop group noted for their exceptional vocals and raps, remarkable performances, and captivating stage presence.

They were given the titles “Global Performance Idols” and “4th Generation Leaders,” which they have lived up to, and Philippine ATINY had the good fortune to see them in person last September 16 when The Fellowship: Break The Wall World Tour, which had been on the road for nearly a year since its launch in Seoul in October 2022, finally touched down in the nation. Local fans of the boy group who had waited patiently for Manila to be added to the list of cities had their wish and a dream come true.

As a result, it was only natural that anticipation was high from the moment the Manila stop was announced until the very conclusion of the concert. Despite Jongho’s absence from the concert due to health issues, ATEEZ and ATINY did not hold back in giving each other the time of their lives.

A variety of tracks from their early releases to their most recent discography were included in ATEEZ’s setlist, which mixed distinct musical styles and performances. “Halazia” from their 2022 single album, Spin Off: From the Witness, kicked off the concert. The boy group immediately mesmerized the audience with their performance, which was further enhanced by the stage setup and lighting. They continued with their trademark greeting, made individual introductions, and pledged to offer the Filipino ATINYs a fun and unforgettable concert.

Men of their words, Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, and Wooyoung continued to display incredible performances with “Answer,” “The Ring,” and “Hala Hala,” before transitioning to their tender and uplifting songs, “Dazzling Light,” “Mist,” “Aurora,” and “Sunrise.” Each performance demonstrated the boy group’s ability to perform superbly in a variety of genres. As they conveyed the feelings of the songs, which became more apparent during their emotive tracks, the members showed off their ability to fill the room with their powerful voices and raps. This provided an appealing juxtaposition to their opening set, which displayed their stellar performance abilities.

I almost criedโ€ฆ with all ATINYs singing along.

Seonghwa on “Sunrise” performance with ATINY

Following these stages, ATEEZ delivered the summer-fittingย twin title tracks “Illusion” and “Wave” off their 2019 album TREASURE EP.3: One To All. They then came back on stage with “Win,” an anthem of epic proportions and great force that wonderfully displayed their commanding presence on stage, followed by the explosive, electronic-influenced song “Horizon.”

But ATEEZ wasn’t through yet; they also performed “WONDERLAND (Symphony No. 9 “From The Wonderland”)” from Mnet’s Kingdom: Legendary War, which earned them first place in experts’ vote and self-evaluationย and second place overall for the performance. Being able to witness the exceptional performance in person was magnificent, mind-blowing, and phenomenal in every sense. And the boys didn’t hold back, giving the audience the complete experience with costumes, amazing set design, and even a mock pirate ship. This song’s strong performance served as another example of the defining energy, which soared even higher in “BOUNCY (K-Hot Chilli Peppers)”.

As everyone stood up to join ATEEZ in doing the dance, aย remarkable excitement permeated the space and was amplified by the selected ATINY, who enthusiastically danced to the music. The boy group got the concert going with “THANXX”, a medley of “Good Lil Boy”, “The Leaders”, and “To the Beat” from their extended plays, Zero: Fever Part.1 and Zero: Fever Part.2.

They performed their timeless classics “Say My Name” from their 2019 EP Treasure EP.2: Zero to One and “Guerrilla” from their 2022 EP The World EP.1: Movement, to a thunderous reception from the audience. The Big Dome was electrified as the audience roared in support of ATEEZ with each performance that took the stage. The boy group that shook up the Philippine concert stage is definitely deserving of a round of applause. It was no longer shocking since, in the first place, you can rely on ATEEZ to provide more than you had anticipated and demonstrate excellence above and above the usual when it comes to fantastic and spectacular performances.

Additionally, Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, and Wooyoung graciously interacted with the audience members in every section, doing their best to look at everyone from the VIPs standing to the far end of The Big Dome with eyes and smiles reflecting their immense gratitude for the crowd that attended.

It was a proud moment to cherish and a memory to retain. The BREAK THE WALL World Tour served as evidence of ATEEZ’s and its fandom’s continuous growth. As the boy group wrapped up the tour with 40 performances in 29 cities across Asia, North and South America, and Europe, it served as a reminder of the humble beginning, the arduous effort, and the tenacity that allowed such accomplishment to arise.

With “Turbulence,” “Celebrate,” “From,” and “The Real,” the boy group said goodbye as Manila witnessed the triumphant conclusion of the Break the Wall tour. The concert’s conclusion was highlighted by a gracious bow to Philippine ATINY from Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, and Wooyoung, who also pledged to return.

    Manila, youโ€™re the best!

  • DElightful Moments with Super Junior D&E

DElightful Moments with Super Junior D&E

A DElightful memory with Super Junior D&E!

Donghae and Eunyuk, also known as Super Junior D&E, hosted their DElight Party Fancon at the Araneta Coliseum on September 30. The day was supremely packed with a lot of other concerts, but a great number of loyal ELFs and K-pop fans still flocked to the venue. As the 8th stop for their world tour, the concert and fan meeting proved to be another memorable experience for the attendees.

As early as noon, ELFs gathered at different areas around Cubao to hold their respective fan-sponsored projects including merch giveaways, photo booths, and cafe cup sleeve events.

Outside the venue, the excitement from fans was so palpable, you wouldnโ€™t think that just 2 months ago, Super Junior (8 of them) came here for their fan party.

Formed in 2011, Super Junior D&E is a sub-unit that has weathered the test of time as the pair has always exhibited such impeccable chemistry onstage and offstage. Together, they had released 3 full albums and 5 EPs. They had also toured Asia extensively over the years, but DElight Fancon was their first show as a sub-unit in Manila.

With a discography filled with upbeat hype songs, D&E made sure that the party was always at an optimal level. Starting off with โ€œZEROโ€ and โ€œB.A.Dโ€, the audience was instantly dancing and waving their lightsticks along to each beat. โ€œDangerโ€, โ€œโ€˜Bout Youโ€, โ€œ1+1 Loveโ€ and โ€œI Wanna Danceโ€ were also included in the setlist. As two of the best dancers in the group, their performances were also a thrill to watch.

โ€œYour cheers are so loud, I hear it even when Iโ€™m wearing in-ear. Your passion is really amazing,โ€ Donghae said.

โ€œWere you so stressed during the two months we didnโ€™t see you?โ€ Eunhyuk quipped. โ€œItโ€™s alright to destress here!โ€

The event also featured a few games like the 99-Second Relay wherein they had to complete a series of complicated tasks in order to succeed. Despite their excessive efforts, they were unable to finish the entire thing in 3 tries. However, that didnโ€™t stop them from making the show entertaining for everyone as they rallied cheers and laughs from the crowd.

The fan meeting also had them reading messages from ELFs. Prior to the event, ELFs were asked to submit their messages in post-its which were stuck to a big board presented to the duo. One note read: โ€œI just graduated from college. Thank you for inspiring meโ€ to which Eunhyuk replied: โ€œYou can graduate from school, but you canโ€™t graduate from being an ELFโ€.

Many handwritten notes fondly requested (and maybe demanded) that they show their abs. Much to their amusement, they turned it down and said that they had not been working out for a while and their abs were on vacation.

Backed by a live band, the show became even livelier. Their more mellow songs like โ€œGrowing Painsโ€, โ€œTo You, Tomorrowโ€ and โ€œHomeโ€ were such delights to listen to live.

As masters of fan service, Donghae and Eunhyuk were very receptive to fansโ€™ requests. When the crowd chanted โ€œGentoโ€, Eunhyuk easily obliged (despite saying that he couldnโ€™t remember the dance sequence as he learned it in a rush). Donghae, meanwhile, said he didnโ€™t know and tried to improvise, but didnโ€™t quite make the cut. He pointed to the crowd affectionately and said an expression in Korean which is roughly equivalent to the Filipino phrase: โ€œKayo talaga!โ€ This became a running joke during the event as the two kept repeating the words whenever the crowd asked them to do something silly.

Of course, Filipino ELFs were armed with lots of projects for D&E. They had streamers and banners, but what stood out most was their surprise three-minute VCR which featured clips of some of the most scenic places in the Philippines like Misamis Occidental, Tagaytay, Coron, and Boracay. It also showed the projects that fans held over the years up to the present. For the finale, a few talented fans sang along to D&Eโ€™s โ€œNeed Uโ€.

โ€œWe were the ones who were supposed to be giving you gifts in this fan meeting, but you gave us more gifts instead,โ€ the duo said in amazement and expressed their gratitude for the fansโ€™ efforts.

To close the evening, D&E paid homage to the classics by performing the classic Super Junior hits โ€œSorry, Sorryโ€ and โ€œBonamanaโ€ followed by โ€œDangerโ€ and the pervasively buoyant โ€œCan You Feel It?โ€.

During the fancon, they mentioned that Super Junior will be celebrating their 18th anniversary soon and they will be holding a fan meeting in Korea to commemorate it. D&E invited everyone to come.

    Special thanks to CDM Entertainment!

  • Truly Nice to Meet You: ForceBook 1st Fan Meeting in Manila

Truly Nice to Meet You: ForceBook 1st Fan Meeting in Manila

Right at the height of their current series, Only Friends, Wish Us Luck Entertainment brought the undeniably adorkable couple ForceBook to spend a day with the Tomafoxes in the Philippines!

Making their mark in the BL world with their hit series Enchantรฉ, followed by the much-beloved A Boss and A Babe, and now starring in the thrillingly messy Only Friends, the ever-brooding but soft-hearted Force Jiratchapong and cute but commanding Book Kasidet, known as ForceBook, treated fans to a day filled with beloved theme songs, games, and up-close-and-personal fan perks.

    More Than Just Friends

Right as they walked onto the stage to meet the press, Force and Book were evidently excited to meet their Filipino fans for the first time – with unending waves and smiles as they sat down to answer some questions.

Right off the bat, Book could not contain his excitement to share some secrets when asked about the kind of roles they look forward to doing. He expressed his interest in doing even more comedy-centric roles, but ultimately advised everyone to stay tuned to GMMTV for updates on their next possible projects. Force added that they are always looking towards being challenged as actors and that fans can always forward to something new from ForceBook.

With ForceBook being friends for over 16 years, they were asked about how they were able to keep a strong bond throughout the years – to which Book shared that itโ€™s always about being open and communicating with each other. Communication has always been the secret to their strong bond.

When Philippine Concerts asked about the most valuable lesson theyโ€™ve learned from each other, Book reiterated that communication was the key to their friendship – and that heโ€™s learned that itโ€™s important to always talk to each other and understand one anotherโ€™s side to the story. Answering the same question, Force said that heโ€™s also learned to always try to understand the other person, and to understand that he and Book will have their differences at times.

Lucky To Have You By My Side

As the timer counted down inside a hype-filled Skydome, ForceBook stepped out and opened the show with “My Luck (เธกเธตเน€เธ˜เธญเธ™เธตเนˆเนเธซเธฅเธฐเธ”เธต)” – the theme to their office-romance series, A Boss and A Babe. Tomafoxes all sang along with the duo, showing the unbeatable Philippine energy. Force and Book could not stop praising the energy theyโ€™re experiencing in the Philippines.

Following the cutest opening number anyone could ever witness, Force and Book played a game of โ€œFox or Tomatoโ€ where they both had a chance to pick from two different scenarios. The game showed how in sync they truly are, as they both chose to work with a group over working independently, pausing time over fast-forwarding to the future, and going on an amusement park date over a quiet picnic date.

They still had their difference, though, with Force choosing unlimited coffee whereas Book chose unlimited snacks. On the question of giving or receiving hugs, Force chose receiving hugs while Book chose giving hugs – with an addition of a surprise hug to an evidently startled Force.

The show continued with a back-to-back solo performance, with songs from another beloved BL series, 2gether. Force took the stage first to serenade fans with “Gan Koo (เธ„เธฑเนˆเธ™เธเธน)”, followed by Bookโ€™s rendition of “Still Together (เธขเธฑเธ‡เธ„เธนเนˆเธเธฑเธ™)”. Both showed that they truly knew their way around a good ballad.

As they returned to the stage, they played even more games like โ€œFigure Me Outโ€, in which they both had to be blindfolded and guess the item using their cheeks. Fans went crazy as the pairโ€™s faces got closer to each other – and the stagehands pulled the items away to make for an adorable moment between the two. Book ended up losing the game and had to mimic emojis on screen as punishment – but a definite treat to fans to see Book in his most adorable poses.

The final game was called โ€œGuess The Roleโ€ where Force and Book had to act out lines from different roles picked from a box. Force did his take on Bookโ€™s characters Mew from Only Friends, and Cher from A Boss and a Babe, while Book returned the favor by doing Forceโ€™s characters of Top and Boss Gun from the same series respectively. The game ended with a tie, the pair having guessed all roles correctly.

A Force That Drives Us To Write Beautiful Chapters In Our Book of Life

As the fan meet came to a close, Force and Book returned to the stage, now seated close to the Tomafoxes to watch a special video prepared for them – with messages of love and support from their biggest fans. Everyone cheered on as the gifts from fans were handed to ForceBook, and even sang an energetic birthday song to Book who will celebrate another year around the sun on October 25th.

Before bidding their fans goodbye, Force and Book treated everyone to one last serenade – singing Hook (เน€เธžเธฅเธ‡เธฃเธฑเธ) from the series My School President. The pair even brought their performance down from the stage to sing right next to their beloved Tomafoxes.

Of course, the fan meeting canโ€™t end without the fan benefits. ForceBook then stepped out for the group photos and hi-touch looking their best in their barongs and sharing an unforgettable moment with everyone in the dome – surely an experience theyโ€™ll both want to come back to.

  • Rock band Dilaw is back with new song “Orasa”

Rock band Dilaw is back with new song “Orasa”

Itโ€™s been a great year for the rock band Dilaw and their music. With the success of their debut hit in 2022 with โ€œUhaw,โ€ the six-piece collective from Baguio is undoubtedly enjoying its time in the limelight. The band is back with the release of a new single titled โ€œOrasaโ€ under Warner Music Philippines. With its raw sound and empathetic lyrics, itโ€™s a piece that even casual fans will love at first listen.ย

Before โ€œOrasaโ€ was published on digital streaming platforms, the band had already performed the song in live gigs. In fact, many fans have already memorized the song and continue to rack up streams on digital platforms.  โ€œOur fans are great, and they support any new music we perform or introduce. โ€˜Orasaโ€™ has a chanty and catchy chorus, and I loved seeing the fans catch the melody and sing-along even without the song being released,โ€ lead guitarist Leon Altomonte shares.

Recently, Orasaโ€™s official music video has been released and has garnered impressive reactions from YouTube viewers. With vivid colors that can be seen through the bandโ€™s funky sense of fashion, the personality of each member shines throughout the video. We can also see a couple slowly entering a museum-like room with symbols representing something in their relationship.

To recall, Dilaw โ€“ an indie rock band formed in Baguio โ€“ reached their commercial breakthrough with the hit โ€œUhawโ€ and its re-released version โ€œUhaw (Tayong Lahat)โ€ culled from the eclectic debut EP titled โ€œSansinukob.โ€ Impressively, the latter gained the record on Spotify for the biggest single-day streams for an OPM song, peaked at #1 on the Viral-50 Philippines playlist, and made it to the #5 Global Viral playlist in March 2023. Not only that, the song was able to top the Billboard Philippines Songs for three consecutive weeks.

A testament to Filipinos and our love for music, it was easy for us to relate to โ€œUhawโ€ and have such passionate feelings for someone. Moreover, the two versions that have been released seem to have different appeals that people canโ€™t get enough of. Inspired and influenced by blues and funky tunes, Dilawโ€™s musicality is something familiar yet fresh to our ears. Notably, they have also been included on the NME 100 as โ€œone of the most essential emerging artists worldwideโ€ in 2023.

Excitingly, the bandโ€™s latest single has the same theme โ€” love. Although, โ€œOrasaโ€ focuses more on how bittersweet it is. It has a repetitive sound and steady rhythm, but the choir chants account for the fullness of the song. โ€œTungkol siya sa mga na-witness kong nadededz na pag-ibig, yung malapit na mag-break,โ€ vocalist and songwriter Dilaw Obero explains. On why the song is titled that way, he adds, โ€œKapag andun ka kasi sa sitwasyon na yun, pakiramdam mo lahat paulit-ulit lang โ€” parang binabali-baliktad lang na orasa bawat araw.โ€

Rhythm guitarist and composer Vie Dela Rosa also notes that the song is reminiscent of a toxic relationship. โ€œYung kahit ganun, gusto mo pa rin na andun ka.โ€ Despite frustrations, the song carries a resilient hope or desire for someoneโ€™s return that perseveres through lifeโ€™s twists and turns.

Now being received by the general public with its release on all digital streaming platforms, the band members of Dilaw want to share their thoughts on โ€œOrasaโ€ and their message to its listeners.

Dilaw was originally an alternative hip-hop duo consisting of singer-songwriter Dilaw Obero (vocals) and guitarist-instrumentalist Vie Dela Rosa. Eventually, the group expanded into a full indie rock collective with the addition of Wayne Dela Rosa (bass guitar), Leon Altomonte (guitar), En Altomonte (keyboards, synths), and Tobi Samson (drums).

On October 3, Dilaw and the bandโ€™s home label, Warner Music Philippines, will hold an intimate and exclusive โ€œDi Ilaw Sa Gabing Mapanglawโ€ to celebrate the release with stripped-down performances with a string quartet. With attendees composed of fellow OPM artists, social media influencers, brand partners, and members of the media, it is expected that more and more people will continue to know the band and acknowledge them for their wonderful music.

  • One Ok Rock’s Luxury Disease Tour Sets Manila Aflame

One Ok Rock’s Luxury Disease Tour Sets Manila Aflame

How glorious it is to be a part of an experience brimming with electrifying energy, leaving you yearning for ways to capture the fiery atmosphere of the moment, encapsulate all the emotions, and pour them all into a bottle to preserve eternally. This is precisely how One Ok Rockโ€™s Luxury Disease Asia Tour in Manila made us feel.

Photo from One Ok Rock on Facebook

Japanese quartet, One Ok Rock, returned to the country on September 26 at the Araneta Coliseum, five years after they last came for their Ambitions tour. It was a damp and windy afternoon, but the crowds waiting at the gates were so dense that the chilly weather went unnoticed. The fans’ excitement was justified – the band was initially scheduled to perform here in May 2020 but had to move dates around because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The eager anticipation would be rewarded that evening with a setlist that stirred both tears and screams.

The venue resounded with loud cheers throughout the night, and stomps reverberated all over the arena as a dedicated crowd declared their adoration. Ryota would later remark on social media that this was the first time theyโ€™d heard stomping during their acoustic set.

    ONE OK ROCK

“Let Me Let You Go” and “Neon” featured staggering instrumental breakdowns. One Ok Rock could be an instrumental band with how Ryota, Tomoya, and Toru enthralled the audience with their masterful instrument-playing coupled with red-hot passion and playful showmanship. Taka remained the powerhouse vocalist weโ€™ve come to expect. Not once did his voice falter despite dancing and running in all directions. As he sustained a high note for “Clock Strikes,” jaws hit the floor while fans held their breath in sync with him.

Photo from One Ok Rock on Facebook

For two hours on Tuesday, One Ok Rock owned The Big Dome. The crowd was an orchestra and Taka was the conductor. We were singing, clapping, jumping, raising our fists, and headbanging. For “Stand Out Fit In,” Taka had everyone ducking down to gather momentum for a synchronized jump. “Your Tears are Mine” involved the special participation of Filipino fans who nailed it just like another regular day at the karaoke.

The night was supposed to conclude with “Wherever You Are” during the encore, but the band decided to extend their generosity. They quipped โ€œAre you guys still alive?โ€ before surprising the audience with a song they hadn’t performed in quite some time – the enduring crowd-pleaser, “Kanzen Kankaku Dreamer.”

    One Ok Rock

Major props go out to the technical team behind the concert. This writer has been to numerous shows at the Araneta Coliseum, but the venue has never sounded as pristine as it did on the 26th. One Ok Rockโ€™s music is best experienced live and the crew delivered with their expertise, which we find especially meaningful knowing that somewhere in the audience is a visually-impaired gentleman we saw at the gates. He may not have seen the band, but he heard them under the best conditions.

One Ok Rock has a track record of fulfilling their commitments. During their initial Manila gig in 2016, they vowed to return and did solid on that in 2018. After their 2018 show, they made the same pledge, and now here they are once more. This time, theyโ€™ve sworn to come back in three years. After waiting for five years to see them again, what’s another three?

  • TWICE Makes Philippine Arena Debut with Full-House, Fired Up โ€œREADY TO BEโ€ in Bulacan

TWICE Makes Philippine Arena Debut with Full-House, Fired Up โ€œREADY TO BEโ€ in Bulacan

Photo courtesy of TWICE / JYP Entertainment

We had an incredible opportunity to be a part of the electrifying TWICE READY TO BE Tour at the iconic Philippine Arena. From start to finish, the concert was a mesmerizing experience that showcased the group’s exceptional vocals, flawless dance moves, and undeniable stage presence.

From the moment they stepped on stage and opened with their song ‘SET ME FREE,’ the energy was palpable. The crowd of Filipino ONCEs erupted into cheers and applause.

Throughout the sold-out concert, TWICE showcased their versatile talent and charismatic presence. ‘I CAN’T STOP ME’ had the audience dancing and singing along with them. It was a perfect blend of catchy melodies and powerful choreography.

But it didn’t stop there. TWICE also made a special effort to connect with their Filipino fans by speaking in tagalog, which was met with even louder cheers and applause. This gesture truly showed their appreciation for their international fanbase.

One of the highlights of the night was when each member performed solo stages. Dahyun impressed the audience with her beautiful piano rendition of Frozenโ€™s โ€˜Let It Goโ€™ and Colbie Calliat’s ‘Try.’ Tzuyu showcased her vocal abilities with a mesmerizing cover of Charlie Puth’s ‘Done for Me.’ Sana delivered an electrifying performance of Dua Lipa’s ‘New Rules.’ Momo wowed everyone with her captivating dance cover of Beyoncรฉ’s ‘Move.’ And Mina showcased her versatility by confidently taking on Ariana Grande’s ‘7 Rings.’ They then brought out band versions of โ€˜Feel Specialโ€™, โ€˜Cry for Meโ€™, โ€˜Fancyโ€™, and โ€˜The Feelsโ€™.

Jihyo continued the solo stages, taking over the arena with her solo song, โ€˜Killinโ€™ Me Goodโ€™, much to the delight of ONCEs. Jeongyeon put the energy on high with her rendition of Justin Timberlakeโ€™s โ€˜Canโ€™t Stop the Feelingโ€™.

One of my favorite moments was Nayeon’s captivating solo performance of “Pop.” Her powerful vocals and engaging stage presence left the audience in awe, capturing everyone’s attention effortlessly. It was a true testament to Nayeon’s talent and charisma as a performer.

But the performances were far from over. After captivating the audience with their respective solo stages, the girls returned with Queen of Hearts and their title song medley featuring Yes or Yes, What Is Love?, Cheer Up, Likey, Knock Knock, Scientist, and Heart Shaker.

Another unforgettable moment was Jihyoโ€™s โ€œshot puno!” to the Filipino ONCEs which preceded their ‘Alcohol-Free’ stage. Her warm and genuine connection with the fans created an atmosphere of unity and excitement which went on and grew with Dance the Night Away and Talk that Talk.

The members expressed their appreciation to fans who patiently waited for their return to the Philippine concert stage โ€”gratitude that went both ways as ONCEs successfully gave TWICE a fan project to remember with banners of โ€œThank you for keeping your promise. Thank you for coming back.โ€

The girl group performed a heartwarming stage of When We Were Kids, followed by Crazy Stupid Love. Making up for the technical problems during her solo in Feel Special, Jihyo treated ONCEs with a repeat performance of her mesmerizing solo. Similarly, the girl group made sure that their fans go home with memories of their best stages, performing Queen of Hearts once more to make up for the audio problems during their first performance of the song.

TWICE closed the first day of READY TO BE in Bulacan with BDZ and HOT.

Throughout the concert, TWICE treated us to a diverse setlist, showcasing their versatility as artists. From their infectious hits to their heartwarming ballads, each song was delivered with precision and passion. The synchronization of their dance routines was astounding, leaving fans in awe of their flawless performances.

But what truly set this concert apart was the undeniable chemistry between the members and their fans. TWICE’s interactions with the audience were heartwarming and genuine, creating an intimate atmosphere despite the massive venue. The love and energy exchanged between them created a memorable experience for everyone present.

The READY TO BE tour was an unforgettable experience filled with non-stop energy, jaw-dropping performances, and heartfelt moments. TWICE proved once again why they are one of the biggest names in K-pop. They left their Filipino ONCEs buzzing with excitement and longing for more. Their ability to create a genuine connection with the audience made this concert truly special. I can confidently say that this concert will be etched in my memory forever.
