American duo joan confirms Manila concert this September

(MANILA, PHILIPPINES (JULY 17, 2023): Arkansas duo joan has confirmed thru social media that the band returns to the Philippines as part of their first-ever headlining tour. Global concert promoter Line Nation Philippines also announced that the concert will happen on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at the New Frontier Theater.

The band comprising Alan Thomas and Steven Rutherford has created indelible synth-pop with a timeless emotional quotient since 2017– crafting new memories for future generations since the release of the “portra” EP. With four EPs and 11 singles later, joan’s top Spotify listeners hail entirely from Asia. The band’s singles “drive all night,” “superglue,” “so good,” “I loved you first,” and “love somebody” are only indications that they’re just getting started.

When the duo launched their exquisite portra EP, Rutherford explained, “We were chasing a feeling—the feeling that you get when you hear a certain song for the first time,” regarding the band’s creative fertility. “We set out to elicit the feeling you get when you watch a John Hughes movie,” Thomas elaborates. “We

never sat down and consciously said, ‘We want to brand ourselves like this.’ We just love the sounds. Why do we get these feelings when we listen to these songs?”

“When we’re home, we treat this band like a day job,” Thomas explains. “We write a lot of songs, and there are certain ones where you play it back and say, ‘This is special.’ This was that kind of song. It represents a spectral connection—the first season of joan. Everything we were going for, it embodies 100%.”

Joan’s full-length album ‘superglue’ has recently been released this year, which includes the song of the same title garnering a million streams on Spotify.

“How do we, as songwriters, help people transcend mundanity and find joy?” Thomas asks. “That’s my personal goal. Connecting with a song can lift your spirits. Seeing how our music brings people joy—why else would we do it? It’s what keeps me going every day. I love it.” And once you make first contact with joan’s music, you will too.

Nice to MIXX You: NMIXX Debuts on the Philippine Concert Stage

NMIXX greeted their Filipino fans for the first time on the Philippine concert stage during the Manila stop of their showcase tour, which saw them perform their best hits and surprise their local fans with an adorable rendition of a Filipino nursery rhyme.

Lily, Haewon, Sullyoon, Bae, Jiwoo, and Kyujin brought the NMIXX SHOWCASE TOUR [NICE TO MIXX YOU] to Manila last June 30, 2023, at the New Frontier Theater. The Manila stop served as the final stop of their first showcase tour which saw them perform in 13 cities in North America and Asia.

The girl group greeted Philippine NSWERs with “TANK” and “O.O”, tracks from their debut single album, Ad Mare. They then officially welcomed the crowd to the NMIXX SHOWCASE TOUR [NICE TO MIXX YOU] and delivered their signature greeting before introducing themselves one after the other.

Lily praised the audience for their singing and thanked them for coming to the showcase. “So many fans from Manila have come to support NMIXX today. Thank you! Did you wanna see us?” she said. Haewon shared that they prepared hard for the concert which Bae described as a dream come true.

“I’m so happy we were able to do this overseas tour. I’m really excited for our final stop tonight,” Jiwoo said, echoing the group’s sentiment on the successful conclusion of their first showcase tour.

NMIXX leveled up the charming stages with the funky and groovy “PAXXWORD” and “Just Did It” from their first extended play, Expérgo. But before they dive into their next performances, the girls graciously taught the audience the moves to have them dance along to “Young, Dumb, Stupid”, the pre-release track from Expérgo. The song got everyone singing along— voices reverting loudly at the New Frontier Theater.

Lily, Haewon, Sullyoon, Bae, Jiwoo, and Kyujin then gave Philippine NSWERs the cutest surprise as they adorably sang the Filipino nursery rhyme “Kung Ikaw Ay Masaya”, accompanied by the audience’s loud cheers. The girl group got more treats for the fans because the evening also saw them perform TWICE’s “TT” and David Guetta’s “Hey Mama”.

The girl group continued to deliver outstanding stages, boasting their vocals, dance, and charms with “DICE” and “COOL (Your Rainbow)” from their second single album, Entwurf, and “My Gosh” from Expérgo.

And of course, the night will never be complete without Philippine NSWERs showering NMIXX with love and appreciation and welcoming them with warmth to the country. The fans prepared a special video presentation for the girl group that made the girls emotional. Kyujin relayed her gratitude, saying, “As how much love NSWERs are giving to us, we will do our best to repay you with more love. I hope all of us can stay together in the future more and more and more healthily.”

Lily echoed the word of thanks, adding “It’s been a long time coming. Thank you so much for waiting. We want to see you guys so much. I see a lot of Filipino NSWERs commenting on our stuff a lot. It means so much to me. I’m so glad I finally got to see you. Thank you for the video and the signs as well.”

NMIXX concluded the Philippine stop of their showcase tour — and the whole showcase tour — with “HOME”, “Love Me Like This”, and encore performances of “O.O” and “Love Me Like This”. The girls bade their farewell with “Mahal kita“.

“We are happy to have this final stage of our showcase tour together with you all,” Haewon said. Lily added, “Thank you for being an amazing crowd today.” Kyujin also relayed her hope to come back to the Philippines for a concert. “Instead of a showcase, I hope we can meet at a concert. Please come, okay?”

With strong vocals, engrossing choreography, and a commanding presence on stage, NMIXX’s debut performance in Manila demonstrated their talent and ever-growing capabilities as rising K-Pop acts.

You Me At Six Delivers Phenomenal Return to the Philippine Concert Stage

After nine years, You Me At Six came back to the country for another incredible performance to add to the repertoire!

“It’s a pleasure to be back in the Philippines,” said vocalist Josh Fransechi as You Me At Six performs in front of their legion of fans who waited to see them back on the local concert stage after nine years since headlining PULP Live World’s Bazooka Rocks 3 festival in 2014.

The stage blazed and everyone in attendance was blown away last July 6 at the Skydome, welcoming the band and the Truth Decay Tour with the signature passion and energy of the Philippine concert crowd. “I and the boys are having a wonderful f*cking time with you all,” Josh exclaimed during the show.

Josh, guitarists Chris Miller and Max Heyler, bassist Matt Barnes, and drummer Dan Flint delivered hardcore performances of powerhouse tracks from their most recent and eighth studio album, Truth Decay, which they released in January 2023. They opened the Manila show with “Deepcuts”. Hinting at nostalgia, the band followed it up with the 2013 award-winning single, “Fresh Start Fever” and 2018 single “Straight to My Head”, before capping up the opening set with “Heartless”.

The concert’s setlist delivered a perfect mix of the vintage favorites and their recent powerhouse anthems, giving fans a journey with the band through the Truth Decay Tour. They performed the classics “Bite My Tongue”, “Stay with Me”, and “No One Does It Better”, together with “What’s It Like”, “No Future? Yeah Right”, “Give”, “Mixed Emotions”, “God Bless the 90s Kids”, and “Take on the World”.

Enjoying the concert and singing their hearts out, the crowd earned proud approval from the band. “We’ve established something tonight—you all have good singing voices.” Capping off the evening, in Josh’s words, the Filipino way, the band performed “Suckapunch”, “Underdog”, “Reckless”, and “Beautiful Way”.

The Truth Decay Tour in Manila was a comeback that the fans of You Me At Six waited for — nine years in the making. But July 6 concert once again delivered a lasting impression for both the band and the Philippine concert crowd.

JVKE and SB19 Team Up for New “golden hour” Remix

JVKE releases a new remix of the global hit single “golden hour,” with SB19!

Multi-talented viral artist, songwriter, and GRAMMY®-nominated producer JVKE celebrates hitting 1 billion streams for the all-conquering global hit “golden hour” with a brand-new remix featuring the multi-award-winning P-Pop boy group SB19, out now via AWAL.

Stream/download JVKE “golden hour (SB19 Remix)” HERE.

    JVKE SB19

Produced by JVKE, “golden hour” is a classic love song that highlights his ability to articulate the feelings of romance and beauty through his lyrics. The vivid imagery is backed by a complex instrumental arrangement of a piano and strings that builds throughout the track. The remix of “golden hour” combines SB19’s incredible vocal harmonies with JVKE’s trademark production style, creating a stunning new bi-lingual version in Filipino and English.

On the release of “golden hour”, JVKE shared, “This might just be my favorite song I’ve ever written. It feels like a pause in time, with all your attention on that special someone. the sun is shining… it’s your golden hour. I wanted to capture the emotion that you feel when you see something beautiful. That feeling is the golden hour.”

Speaking on the remix SB19 noted, “It’s always fun collaborating with another artist – just like how it is when we, as members of a group, collaborate with each other. But it’s something else when there’s a collaboration of two cultures, which is what happened when we collaborated with JVKE. It’s really special how the embedded culture in each of us affects how we write songs and how we portray our experiences in a song, and we’re glad that we’re able to include some parts of our Filipino culture in this song.

JVKE added, “SB19 are crazy talented. As an artist, when I open my art to others so they can add their own interpretation, I never know how I’m going to feel about what they contribute. With SB19, I was just blown away. I hope this isn’t the last time we work together.”

The original “golden hour” is already a smash hit single worldwide having amassed over 1 billion streams along with over 3 billion views across YouTube, TikTok & Instagram, a #1 spot on the Global Spotify viral chart and hit the Top 20 on the Billboard Global chart. Cumulatively, JVKE has amassed over 2 billion career streams, an awe-inspiring 35 billion views of his music across social media along with an ever-growing global audience of over 23 million followers. JVKE’s 2020 breakthrough smash “Upside Down” generated over 200 million streams to date and 15 million TikTok video creations and spawned a Charlie Puth remix. His 2021 follow-up track “this is what falling in love feels like” launched his career into the stratosphere, amassing over 390 million streams and 45 million views and reaching #33 U.S. Top 40 Radio. Last year JVKE recently released his stunning debut album, “This is what __ feels like (Vol. 1-4)”, a collection of songs written, produced, engineered, and recorded by JVKE and his brother ZVC that experiments with production, time signatures, tuning and style to create a truly unique listening experience.

JVKE also currently features on the international hit single “Angel” from the Fast X soundtrack alongside Charlie Puth, Jimin from BTS, Muni Long, Kodak Black, and NLE Choppa.
