Before we fall deeper in love with him next month, we celebrate his astonishing career as an actor through a look back on seven of his drama productions that definitely deserve to be part of our watch list — or should we say re-watch list? *winks

    #1 Moon Embracing The Sun

Yeo Jin Goo debuted as an actor in 2005 through the film Sad Movie which was then followed by roles television including the younger counterpart of the lead roles in Iljimae and Tazza. Although he has continuously appeared in various drama productions and impressed South Korea with his seemingly innate talent in acting, it was in 2012 when he rose to prominence following his appearance in Moon Embracing the Sun.

If you want to see Yeo Jin Goo in hanbok, walking handsomely on the palace grounds with Im Si Wan and if you are into sageuk with a bit of fantasy, check out Moon Embracing the Sun! The 2012 MBC drama dwells on the story of a Joseon king and a female shaman with a serving of political themes on the side. It is a well-loved drama which received an average rating of 33 percent from its 20-episode run. It was also named Best Drama in the 48th Baeksang Arts Awards.

Yeo Jin Goo played the young version of Kim Soo Hyun’s character Lee Hwon, the crown prince. He was so good in his portrayal of the character that he received various accolades from the 6th Mnet 20’s Choice Awards, 4th Pierson Movie Festival, and MBC Drama Awards.

    #2 Missing You

Missing You reunited Yeo Jin Goo with his Moon Embracing the Sun co-star Kim So Hyun where they played the young versions of Park Yoo Chun and Yoon Eun Hye’s characters, respectively.

The 21-episode MBC drama followed the story of Lee Soo Yeon (Kim So Hyun/Yoon Eun Hye’s character) and Han Jung Woo (Yeo Jin Goo/Park Yoo Chun’s character) from their high school where they were separated due to an unfortunate incident to their reunion as adults where they try to reconcile and move on from the past that hunted them.

Aside from his acting skills, the actor showed off his amazing chemistry with fellow child actor Kim So Hyun in this drama production too!

    #3 Orange Marmalade

If you are into vampires and school dramas, Orange Marmalade is for you! Yeo Jin Goo played the character of Jung Jae Min, the most popular boy in school who hated vampires, but ended up falling in love with Baek Ma Ri (played by AOA’s Seolhyun) who hid her vampire identity.

It’s a unique story, set in a fictional world where humans and vampires coexist. Moreover, the drama marked Yeo Jin Goo’s first leading role on television, officially transitioning from being a child actor to a leading man! For his portrayal, he received the Best New Actor Award, Popularity Award for an Actor, and Best Couple Award with Seolhyun at the KBS Drama Awards.

    #4 Circle

Circle is a science-fiction drama that presented two parallel plots — one that took place in 2017 and one that happened in 2037. It presented an interesting plot that combined sci-fi and mystery. With only 12 episodes, Circle is the perfect drama to watch this weekend if you are in for a weekend date with Yeo Jin Goo!

The actor played Kim Woo Jin in the television series which aired on tvN from May 22 to June 27, 2017. He teamed up with Kim Kang Woo, Gong Seung Yeon, and Lee Gi Kwang in the drama.

    #5 The Crowned Clown

There is something about Yeo Jin Goo and sageuk that match perfectly well. And The Crowned Clown is another testament of that perfect match up! A remake of Masquerade, a 2012 South Korean film, the drama brought back viewers to the Joseon era where a king, in a move to save himself from the assassination ploys of his enemies, puts a clown who bears similar appearance as him, on the throne.

Yeo Jin Goo portrayed dual characters in the series — Ha Seon, the clown and Yi Heon, the King. His performance in the drama gave him a Best Actor nomination at the 55th Baeksang Arts Awards.

    #6 My Absolute Boyfriend

My Absolute Boyfriend is already a familiar story to a number of people as it was based on a manga by Yuu Watase titled Absolute Boyfriend and was already adapted into dramas in Japan and Taiwan. But another version with THE Yeo Jin Goo as the “absolute boyfriend” will never hurt.

In the drama, Yeo Jin Goo is Zero Nine, a robot which was programmed to give his selfless and undivided love to his Um Da Da (played by Girls’ Day Min Ah), the woman who activated him.

    #7 Hotel Del Luna

Of course, this list will not be complete without a mention of the actor’s latest work, the well-loved drama Hotel Del Luna which paired him with IU.

Yeo Jin Goo portrayed Koo Chan Sung, a handsome and well-educated man (He is an MBA graduate from Harvard, y’all!), who became the new general manager of a unique and mysterious hotel called Hotel Del Luna which has the moody and seemingly cold-hearted Jang Man Wol (IU) as its owner.

Hotel Del Luna is one of the highest-rated Korean drama in cable history!
