The Big Dome became a portal back to the era of 90s alternative rock as three prominent bands of that time, Smash Mouth, Sugar Ray and Gin Blossoms, came together for a one-night concert on the 21st of October. The show, which lasted for almost four hours, filled the Dome with that lingering nostalgia as the three bands played the songs that filled the airwaves and television screens from 15 to 20 years ago. Hailing from Utah, The Piano Guys became an Internet sensation by way of their immensely successful series of strikingly original self-made music videos. They’ve made 35 since joining forces a little more than a year ago, including their most recent hit video, an innovative 10-handed version of One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful.”
The album features more of the imaginative mash-up arrangements that The Piano Guys are already famous for, including sources ranging from Michael Jackson to Mozart, The Bourne Identity to David Guetta. The xx Mesmerizes Manila
The 30th of July was an evening of mesmerizing music down at the NBC Tent as The xx headlined their first ever concert here in Manila. As early as 6:00pm, a long line can be seen right outside the venue, eagerly waiting for the gates to open.
Tickets got sold out a day before, but the organizers made some adjustments in the venue in order to accommodate more people. Still, some people were still clamoring for tickets at the day itself and surely enough, the venue was packed during the evening. By the time the concert was officially about to start, both the gold and silver sections were bursting, leaving just the little blind spot areas at the back and sides vacant. The crowd was composed of a diverse set of people, ranging from college kids to grown-ups at their 30s. A lot of celebrities and prominent musicians can be spotted at the gold and VIP section.
