The singer’s soulful vocals and melodic composition also perfectly capture the essence of Kapampangan music.

AltG Records’ Baguio-based singer-songwriter Plume bares his soul and emotions in his second single “Panggap,” set to release this August 30 on digital platforms worldwide. The track explores the theme of masked emotions and the quest for genuine happiness.
The inspiration behind “Panggap” stems from the story of an individual struggling and pretending to be happy. Plume explains, “The main inspiration for the song is about someone who’s trying to pretend to be happy. While he is pretending, he’s trying to find someone to pretend with, and as they go on with their lives and journey, they eventually learn to be happy together without having to pretend.”
A personal experience also influenced the creation of Plume’s track. “There was a day when I was having a bad day, and I was talking to someone who was also feeling down. Instead of telling her I was also in a bad mood, I pretended I was fine and just tried to cheer her up so that at least one of us would feel better.”
One of the most striking lines from “Panggap” is “Tumawa ka lang, ngumiti ka lang na tila wala nang bukas pa.”
“I wanted the listener, or in this case, the person in the story, to just be happy. You don’t have to pretend. Just be happy. If you can smile, just smile. Live your life to the fullest, as if it’s your last day to be happy. So why not do it right now?,” says Plume.
Through the song, he hopes to inspire listeners to embrace their true emotions. “I hope that those who are pretending to be someone they’re not or hiding their true feelings, that when they listen to this song, will be inspired to be true to themselves. If you’re sad, cry. If you’re happy, laugh. I hope this song encourages people to be honest with their emotions,” he ends.
“Panggap” will be available on all major streaming platforms starting August 30.
After her bubbly debut single “Just Enough” in 2021, Sparkle artist Mikee Quintos returns with a new single under GMA Playlist, “Senyales,” now available on digital platforms worldwide.
“Senyales” explores the uncertainties of a blossoming relationship, drawing inspiration from the singer-actress’ real-life romance with her current boyfriend, Paul Salas. The song’s cover art is based on a real photo of them before they officially became a couple.
Mikee dedicates the song to him, especially the titular lyric “Ilang senyales pa ba?” as she recalls how long it took Paul to realize that the feelings were mutual.
“Minsan kasi ayaw natin sabihin ng diretso, gusto natin mauna sila umamin,” she explains with how girls tend to opt for roundabout confessions of love. “Medyo ang tagal din ng senyales ko kay Paul bago niya makuha na gusto ko na rin siya.”
The singer-actress also hopes to bring back the easy sing-along songs from the 90s and 2000s with the relaxing vibes of “Senyales.” “It’s pop, but not like upbeat pop. It’s relaxed pop. I imagine people listening to it when they drive.” Mikee states that she misses songs anyone can sing from start to end, which she wants to achieve with her new single.
“Senyales” is Mikee’s second single under GMA Playlist. Although she is still a relatively newcomer to the music industry, she admits that the new single is a step closer to the fulfillment she seeks in her music. “I feel more comfortable and relaxed with this song and this genre.”
As a singer, Mikee notes many factors in her songs, such as getting her message across and if she is being heard. “Iba ‘yung naririnig sa pinapakinggan. Pinapakinggan ba ako, gusto ba ako pakinggan?” As a music lover, Mikee hopes her listeners can connect with her songs the same way she does when she listens to other songs.
“Senyales” resonates with people who struggle to express their overwhelming feelings. “Yung hindi nila malabas kaso pumuputok na yung feelings nila with love. Ito yun. This is that song.”
Listen to Mikee’s single “Senyales” on all digital platforms beginning July 26.

Singer-songwriter Gel Aquino will release her deeply personal and moving single, “Kinakaya,” under GMA Music. The song, which taps into the experience of heartbreak and loss, draws inspiration from Aquino’s journey through grief and healing.
Aquino explains that “Kinakaya” is a tribute to those who have suffered the pain of being left behind by loved ones. “My inspiration is those who were hurt by love and those who were left behind by their loved ones. Those broken-hearted who experienced being left behind. ‘Yung mga kailangang bumitaw sa isang relasyon kaya ngayon kinakaya nila ang pag-mo-move on na wala na ang taong mahal nila. ‘Yun ang inspiration nito,” she shared.
The song was born during a particularly challenging time in Aquino’s life. “Sinulat ko ito noong time na active ako magsulat at mag-compose ng kanta. Noong time din na ‘to broken hearted ako and very depressed, pandemic noon tapos nawala na ‘yung lola ko. Hindi ko nalaman agad na nawala na pala siya, two months later ko na nalaman. So para din ito sa lola ko at sa mga taong nakaranas na iwan ng mahal nila,” she recalled.
The loss of her grandmother served as a significant catalyst for the song’s creation. “Independent ako and hindi ako masyadong nakikipag-communicate sa mga kamag-anak ko. Then nakita ko na lang nag-message sila na wala na ang lola ko. Kaya pala ‘nung mga buwan na ‘yun lagi kong napapanaginipan ang lola ko. Kaya nasulat ko ang kantang ito para sa lola ko na kinakaya ko ang sakit na wala na siya. Hindi man lang kami nagkita bago siya mamatay.”
Aquino hopes that “Kinakaya” will offer solace and strength to listeners facing their own struggles. “The message of the song is that we need to endure the pain that we feel from a person who left us. Kailangan natin ng time para makapag-heal and ‘wag tayong mawawalan ng pag-asa at isipin na itong pain na ito ay wala nang katapusan. Darating ang panahon na sasaya ka ulit at magiging mas malakas ka. You can transform yourself to be a better person then.”
“Kinakaya” will be available on digital platforms beginning May 26.

Multi-instrumentalist and singer Abby Clutario invites listeners on a journey with love with the release of her album “Lambing” under AltG Records on February 23.
“’Lambing,’ for me, is a genuine feeling of love. If you look in the dictionary, it doesn’t have a direct meaning in English. It’s a Filipino word na puwede natin gawing pamparamdam na nagmamahal tayo sa isang tao. I want it to be more than just an album but a journey for the listeners. Each song tells a story and explores a different aspect of love,” shares Abby.
The album features five tracks, two original songs, and three covers, which delve into the depths of love and emotion.
Among the original tracks on the album are “Laho” and “Naglalambing,” which showcase Abby’s songwriting prowess and her ability to craft melodies that listeners can relate to. The album also includes Abby’s cover of “Tadhana” by Up Dharma Down, Voltes V theme song “Chichi Wo Motomete,” and Mulawin’s theme song “Ikaw Lang.”
“’Laho’ holds a special place in my heart. It’s a song that speaks about the fear of expressing one’s feelings and the longing for connection. ‘Naglalambing,’ on the other hand is inspired by the 90s OPM. We wanted to have a song na parang kumikiliti doon sa OPM flavor. It’s a typical story that tackled the feelings na puwede mong maramdaman kapag bigla mong naalala ang ex mo,” she says.
Abby is also set to have an album tour for “Lambing” starting with the launch gig this February 22 at 88 Fryer. Guest performers include Plume, Pido, and Charlene Ong, among others. The tour continues on March 2 at 70s Bistro. On March 12, Abby will be at 19 East, and the tour wraps up on March 22 at Tago Jazz Bar.
Stay tuned for Abby Clutario’s album “Lambing” set to release this February 23 on digital platforms worldwide.
Japanese pop-rock trio SKYGARDEN, comprised of Ryoichi “Ryo” Rivera Nagatsuka, Hiro Ozaki, and Iwaki “Iwa” Maegawa, is back with a brand-new single under Alt G Records entitled “HISTORIA,” which is now available on all digital platforms.
The JaPinoy rock song follows the trio’s debut single “KOKOA,” and promises to capture hearts once again with its message of love, loss, and finding strength in the past.
“Historia” is a deeply personal song for the band, inspired by member Iwa’s past relationship. It tells the story of two college sweethearts who are forced to break up due to the challenges of the pandemic. Despite their love for each other, Iwa decides to let his girlfriend pursue her dream of working abroad, sacrificing his own happiness for her future.
“It took me two years to move on from that relationship, and I will always love her. In those two years, I moved here in the Philippines, and we started SKYGARDEN. It was a really big decision, but I’m okay now. Sometimes, I think what would happen if I chose a different path,” shares Iwa.
“Even though Iwa and his girlfriend love each other, there’s this situation that made them break up,” explains Ryo. “Iwa lost his job during the pandemic, and he doesn’t want to hold her back. So, he makes the difficult decision to let her go, even though it hurts him deeply.”
Hiro, on the other hand, narrates the group’s experience recording the song for the first time in GMA Music’s studio. “It was our first time, and GMA Music has really good equipment. It made us appreciate the song even more, especially with the guidance of Sir Kedy Sanchez (GMA Music’s Artist and Repertoire Manager and in-house producer).”
The song is not just a tribute to Iwa’s past love, but also a message of hope and resilience. It encourages listeners to embrace their own “historias,” the memories that shape who they are, even if some of them are bittersweet.
The music video directed by Njel de Mesa, set for release on January 26, will further amplify the song’s message with a cinematic portrayal of the story.
Dive into SKYGARDEN’s “HISTORIA” when it drops this January 19 on digital platforms worldwide.
