Japanese boy hroup ONE OR EIGHT join forces with Korean-American rapper pH-1

Out now, rising Japanese boy band ONE OR EIGHT join forces with one of Korean-American rap’s elites, pH-1, for an energetic remix of “KAWASAKI”. In this fresh new iteration, the H1GHR music rapper delivers his hard-edged raps over powerful and danceable beats, unlocking new possibilities for the track.

The core theme of the track, “All or Nothing”, draws inspiration from the band’s name ONE OR EIGHT. It vividly portrays the bold pursuit of challenges and the fearless determination to seize success through one’s own efforts. The track retains the essence of the original Jersey Club sound while emphasising trap elements, resulting in a more rhythmic and energetic beat, with pH-1’s delicate yet powerful verses adding depth and determination, leaving a lasting emotional impact.

pH-1, a founding member of H1GHR MUSIC – alongside Jay Park and Cha Cha Malone – is globally recognized for his melodic rap and profound lyrics. With collaborations including UMI, P-Lo, and TXT, as well as his sold out ‘ABOUT DAMN TIME’ solo world tour under his belt, pH-1 brings his versatile career and vibrant energy to this new remix.

“When I first heard ‘KAWASAKI’, I felt like, “omg, i’m gonna spit some things on this track right away.” I think each member of ONE OR EIGHT raps with natural swag that’s genuine, and so I’m excited to be part of this track as an artist,” pH-1 shares of the collaboration.

Before its official debut, the performance video for “KAWASAKI” made waves by surpassing 10 million views on YouTube in nearly one week. Following their debut, the track broke new records as they teamed up with legendary rapper Big Sean on a dynamic remix of “KAWASAKI”. Now, the journey continues with a refreshed version featuring Korean-American rapper pH-1, with more exciting collaborations with Asian artists to come in the following weeks.

Five-piece “harana pop” outfit Paham has dropped their self-titled debut album today via Sony Music Entertainment and Off The Record. The 12-track record invites listeners into a whimsical journey of love, resilience, and hope, woven together with themes that speak directly to the heart.

    Paham

From the excitement of finding someone special to the trials that test its endurance, Paham captures the raw emotions and uncertainties of modern relationships. Each track is a heartfelt chapter in a larger narrative, navigating the complications and complexities of life and romance in the 21st century.

“The inspiration behind Paham comes from our personal experiences,” the band shares in a collective statement. “We wanted to offer listeners a window into our journey, to make them see the world through our eyes, and to share our story as Paham.”

From tender ballads to anthemic pop-rock numbers, Paham is a personal letter set to music: straightforward yet brimming with sincere emotions. Shiny on the surface but layered with depth, the album effectively captures the zeitgeist of today, complemented by some of the strongest, most infectious melodies this side of contemporary pop.

“Our songwriting process evolves alongside cultural shifts,” the band explains. “We stay attuned to the conversations people are having, so when we release music, our audience can truly connect with it. It’s a challenge for us to maintain consistency, as we want every track to offer something unique in sound and emotion.”

At its core, the album serves as a refuge for anyone who feels lost and vulnerable. “We want our songs to speak to listeners, no matter what they’re feeling—whether it’s sadness, insecurity, or moments of doubt. Our music is for everyone, wherever they are in their own emotional journey.”

One of the standout tracks on Paham is the reimagined version of the band’s viral hit “Hiraya,” now retitled “Hiraya (Haharanahin Kita).” The new rendition features a subtle orchestral arrangement that adds an elegant touch to the song, elevating it to a more romantic, wedding-worthy ballad.

“We wanted to give a more refined, graceful take on the song that felt like a celebration of love,” Paham explains. “It’s our way of making the song even more romantic and timeless.”

With over two million streams on Spotify and more than 11,000 videos shared on TikTok and Instagram, “Hiraya” has become an unstoppable anthem of love and longing for a lot of music fans.

Paham, the debut album from the band of the same name, is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment and Off The Record.

  • Jolianne navigates self-discovery and emotional growth in coming-of-age debut EP, Plain Girl

Jolianne navigates self-discovery and emotional growth in coming-of-age debut EP, Plain Girl

The rising pop/R&B star tells her story of young love, independence, and finding her place in the new world in this 6-track project.

Cebuana singer-songwriter Jolianne releases her debut EP, Plain Girl, via Sony Music Entertainment and Careless Music.

    Jolianne

Written between the ages of 16 and 20, the coming-of-age record captures the transformative period of a young woman navigating the complexities of teenage life, embracing both the charm and chaos of self-discovery. It also explores the trials, triumphs, and messiness of stepping into adulthood while confronting the uncertainties of love, identity, and independence.

Drawing from her own experiences as she graduated from high school, moved to a new city, and began her journey as an artist, Plain Girl serves as a celebration of self-discovery. The EP blends R&B-infused pop with a sense of whimsical nostalgia, revealing the beauty of her formative years.

“My life flipped entirely,” admits the Halfway There act. “I awkwardly stumbled my way through my first encounters with emotions and challenges I’d never faced before. Those years were as much about growing as a person as they were about developing as an artist. It was a time of trial and error, giving myself the permission to fail and figure things out along the way. Or, as the saying goes: “f*** around, find out.”

The album, which Jolianne describes as a “story of self-discovery,” finds her thrust into a larger, more complicated world. She adds, “It’s about a girl who has lived in her own bubble, untouched by the complexities of life and love, suddenly finding herself on the brink of transformation. Through these songs, I wanted to capture the innocence and uncertainty of taking those first steps into a bigger, more complicated world—opening her heart to love, embracing vulnerability, and navigating emotions she’s never felt before. It’s a story of growth, self-discovery, and the beauty of experiencing the unknown, all through the eyes of someone who is just starting to find her place in it all.”

Plain Girl (EP) showcases Jolianne’s ability to seamlessly integrate pop sensibilities with a modern R&B vibe while incorporating elements of Disney whimsy. The introspective project features an all-star roster of producers and collaborators, including JGreg for “Maybe I’m Yours” and “Afterthought,” RJ Pineda for the self-titled track, and “I’ll Be Somebody You Want,” jonahbru as well for “Plain Girl” and De’La for “Let Me Down Easy,” and Isagani Palabyab for “Are You Happy Now (Take One).”

Despite the diversity in production, Jolianne and her team successfully maintained a cohesive artistic vision throughout the record. “Thankfully, they all made sure to put my artistic identity at the forefront, and because I had worked with them previously, they already had a strong understanding of my vision,” the rising Careless Music star shares. “Collaborating with such a diverse group of producers was refreshing. Each brought their unique takes to the table, and it was so inspiring to dive into their creative worlds, pick their brains, and witness their process in real-time.”

The lead single, “Let Me Down Easy” is a soulful piano-driven ballad highlighting Jolianne’s remarkable vocal prowess. Inspired by the emotional complexity of an unfulfilled relationship, the song essays the feeling of witnessing a relationship fade while grappling with the uncertainty of where things stand.

Jolianne reveals, “At its core, it’s a plea for closure and kindness: If you’re gon’ let me down, then let me down easy, asking for a gentle goodbye when love feels like it’s coming to an end. This, I wrote about a boy I never even dated. Even ‘situationship’ is too big a word for what we had. It was simply a ‘situation,’ but I’m a girl with big feelings, so I got a song out of it anyway.”

Jolianne’s debut EP, Plain Girl is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment. The live performance video of “Let Me Down Easy” drops at 8 pm on Jolianne’s official YouTube channel.

A poignant and minimalist cover of Fleetwood Mac’s iconic 1975 hit, “Landslide” represents their shared sentiment of letting go and embracing new beginnings both in careers and personal lives. The track conveys a collective journey of maturity, acceptance, and spiritual growth, marking another chapter in their musical evolution.

“Landslide is a song that we all know and love,” shares Barbie Almalbis. “I think each of us has covered it at some point. The first version I actually heard was the Smashing Pumpkins cover. I was in high school, and I immediately connected with it. The song’s themes of life, love, and the shifting seasons have only deepened in meaning for us as we’ve all grown older together.”

Aia de Leon recalls the pivotal moment when Hannah Romawac sparked the idea to record the song. “This seems to have launched the habit of us recording songs after we have jammed it,” the Sundo act explains. “I can’t stress enough how awesome it truly is to be able to have all these tools and technology available to artists nowadays. All of us have recording capabilities at different levels. For this track, we recorded in different places—Barbie’s home studio became the hub for Acel, Lougee, and Hannah, while Kitchie recorded her vocal takes with her trusty Rode condenser mic in her home in Spain. I also recorded my vocal tracks here from home on the south side.”

Almalbis adds, “Recording with the girls is always such a fun experience—50% work and 50% catching up. It’s a blessing to do something we love with people we love.”

The stripped-down version of “Landslide” was mixed and mastered by Angee Rozul and is being distributed via House of Tunes.

Fans can look forward to hearing the special arrangement of “Landslide” live at the Tanaw: The Repeat concert, scheduled for February 9, 2025 (Sunday), at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City at 8:00 PM. Major sponsors include JB Music, Ming’s Pei Pa Koa Candy, David’s Salon, Apartment8, and Globatronics, while minor sponsors include Greenwich, Palladium, UGEC, Payaba, and Meiji Chocolates.

More than just a concert, Fusion: The Philippine Music Festival is a celebration of unity through Original Pinoy Music (OPM). Music is the heartbeat of the Filipino spirit, bridging generations and connecting the nation through a universal language. Over the years, Fusion has evolved into a cultural movement—a rallying cry for Filipinos to take pride in their artistry. More than just a festival, it serves as a platform that elevates homegrown talent, uniting legacy icons, global Filipino musicians, and emerging artists in a one-of-a-kind OPM experience.

“Now is the time to put OPM in the spotlight,” says Gladys Basinillo, founder of Fusion. “While international acts continuously fill arenas and festivals across the country, our own artists and music deserve the same level of support. Fusion is here to make that happen—to give Filipino music the recognition it deserves.”

“Looking back at the very first Fusion concert in 2015, our goal was simple: to unite artists from different genres and showcase the strength of Original Pilipino Music (OPM). Now, ten years later, we’re taking things to the next level—not just by gathering the best and biggest artists, but by redefining what it means to go to a concert,” shares Paul Basinillo, Event Director of Fusion. “If we can create top-tier productions for international artists, why shouldn’t we do the same—if not more—for our own? We want to bring back the thrill of live music—to make concert-going a must-do experience again, especially for the younger generation. Fusion 2025 is designed to be more than just a show—it’s an all-day, immersive festival that goes beyond the main stage.”

Fusion 2025 carries the powerful theme “Musika Natin ‘To!”—a call to embrace and uplift OPM with pride. This milestone event will bring together the best of Filipino music in an immersive experience that goes beyond performances, featuring interactive art, cultural exhibits, and a showcase of local flavors. More than a festival, it is a declaration that OPM is not just music—it is our identity, our pride, and our story as a nation.

“This 10th year of Fusion is a milestone for OPM, proving that Filipino music continues to evolve, grow, and inspire. But more than that, it’s a milestone for live entertainment in the Philippines. This is our chance to set the standard for what a modern Filipino music festival can be—something that rivals international festivals, with our own unique identity.” said Paul Basinillo. “This isn’t just about the past decade of OPM. This is about the next generation of Filipino music, artists, and fans. This is about bringing people back to live events, making concerts an experience they will always want to be part of.”

“As we showcase to the country and the world our passion for OPM, we hope to inspire more institutions, organizations, and every Filipino to join us in this journey of putting our OPM as front and center in our music scene,” added Gladys Basinillo.

  • Gerald Santos’ ‘Courage’: A Triumphant Celebration of Resilience, Artistry, and Advocacy

Gerald Santos’ ‘Courage’: A Triumphant Celebration of Resilience, Artistry, and Advocacy

Last January 24, the SM North EDSA Skydome became the epicenter of music and empowerment as Gerald Santos took the stage for his highly anticipated solo concert, ‘Courage’.

The evening was more than just a musical spectacle—it was an inspiring testament to resilience and bravery, interwoven with the singer-actor’s powerful artistry and heartfelt advocacy.

From the outset, the concert set a bold tone with Gerald delivering a soaring rendition of Wicked’s ‘Defying Gravity’. Standing beneath the spotlight, he greeted his audience with a message of hope and enthusiasm: “It’s a great feeling to start the year with a concert in January. This is a special night of music, fun, and courage.” The energy surged as he followed up with a moving performance of Lady Gaga’s ‘Always Remember Us This Way’.

The theme of courage, which resonated throughout the evening, mirrors Gerald’s journey. Rising to fame as the grand champion of Pinoy Pop Superstar nearly two decades ago, he has since earned international acclaim for his portrayal of Thuy in the European production of ‘Miss Saigon’. His transformation from a young dreamer from Navotas to a global performer underscores the essence of the night—overcoming adversity and embracing new challenges.

    A Movement Rooted in Bravery

Beyond the music, ‘Courage’ highlighted Gerald’s advocacy for survivors of sexual abuse and harassment. The concert coincided with the launch of the ‘Courage Movement’, a platform he spearheads to provide support and hopes to victims of such traumatic experiences. Reflecting on his own story of abuse at the hands of a veteran songwriter when he was just 15 years old, Gerald candidly shared: “When I came out in the open about what happened to me nearly two decades ago, I really felt naked in public. Those two words – courageous and naked – perfectly defined me.”

The movement also brought together others who have endured similar experiences. Actor Sandro Muhlach came with his father, Niño Muhlach, and his whole family to support Gerald Santos’ ‘Courage Movement’. Singer Enzo Almario, a survivor of abuse himself, joined Gerald onstage to perform Ben&Ben’s ‘Leaves’, creating one of the evening’s most poignant moments.

    A Showcase of Artistic Excellence

Musically, Gerald’s concert was a masterclass in versatility and emotion. His setlist was carefully curated with heartfelt ballads, theater classics, and contemporary hits. A tribute to the late Liam Payne and Mercy Sunot saw him perform emotionally charged renditions of ‘Little Things’, ‘Halik’, and ‘Luha’.

He also revisited the defining moments of his career, delivering his signature pieces ‘Maghintay Ka Lamang’ and ‘Hanggang’ with his characteristic vocal brilliance. Fans were treated to a ‘Miss Saigon’ highlight as Gerald performed the hauntingly beautiful ‘Why God, Why’, a nod to the role that catapulted him to global fame.

Gerald was joined onstage by his namesake artists Erik Santos and Aicelle Santos, creating a powerful synergy that lit up the evening. Erik and Gerald brought the house down with their rendition of ‘This Is the Moment’, while Aicelle and Gerald showcased their chemistry from their ‘Miss Saigon’ days with Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga’s ‘Die With a Smile’. Together with Enzo, they also delivered an unforgettable performance of ‘When You Believe’.

Adding to the star-studded affair were Sheryn Regis, who dazzled with ‘Shallow’ and her powerful solo ‘Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw’, and young artists Elisha and Aster, who lent youthful energy to ‘Pantropiko’ and ‘Dilaw’.

    A Bold New Sound

The concert also marked a milestone in Gerald’s musical journey with the release of his latest single, ‘Hubad’. Described by Gerald as a bold and daring departure from his previous work, the song embodies his desire to reinvent himself as an artist. “Perfect ang song na ‘Hubad’ for me. Cebu-based songwriter Feb Cabahug was even offering to pay me just to sing the song. But I told her there was no need to do that. I believe in the song,” he said of the collaboration.

With its sultry melody and introspective lyrics, ‘Hubad’ signals an exciting new chapter for Gerald. It’s the first of many tracks in a reinvention he hopes will captivate his audience and redefine his sound.

A Journey of Strength and Purpose

Closing the night with ‘From Now On’ from ‘The Greatest Showman’, Gerald left the audience inspired and energized. The evening was a triumphant celebration of courage, not just in music but in life. Through his unwavering commitment to his craft and advocacy, Gerald Santos proved that his artistry extends beyond the stage—it is a beacon of hope for those fighting their own battles.

The show was conceptualized, written, and directed by the brilliant Antonino Rommel Ramilo.

With ‘Courage’, Gerald Santos has once again solidified his status as one of the country’s most compelling performers, using his platform not just to entertain but to empower.
