    “The book is based off Russell, myself, and a baby brown bear. We got this little teddy bear in one of our hotel rooms in the U.S., and ever since, it has been our traveling companion. I came up with the idea of creating a children’s book from the perspective of this baby brown bear, exploring different countries, landmarks, and cultures,” Hitchcock shared.

    I wanted to create a story that not only entertains but also opens doors to the rich heritage of the Philippines for children everywhere,” Hitchcock shared in an interview. “The Philippines’ stunning biodiversity offered the perfect backdrop for Baby Brown Bear’s growth. It’s a celebration of curiosity and kindness, wrapped in the warmth of Filipino hospitality.”

    The Prince of Asia takes the SM MOA Arena spotlight
    Park Bo Gum, one of South Korea’s most celebrated actors and musicians, made his long-awaited return to the Philippines—his first since 2019. Known for his roles in hit K-Drama series “When Life Gives You Tangerines” and “Good Boy,” he headlined the “Be With You” fan meeting last August 22.

    Aubrey Caraan and Lee Daewoon Bridge Cultures with Emotional Rock Ballad ‘Selfish Guy

    Aubrey Caraan, a Filipina singer and actress, and Lee Daewoon, a South Korean artist (also spelled Daewon Lee or Lee Dae-won), sang the duet “Selfish Guy,” a poignant rock ballad that captures the ache of ambition clashing with love. This was the first project to come out of the partnership between Viva Communications Inc. and Milagro Korea. On September 5, 2025, the song came out. It’s a heartfelt ballad about choosing work over love.

    In a celebration of musical fusion that bridged the vibrant worlds of P-pop and K-pop, Filipina singer-actress Aubrey Caraan and South Korean artist Lee Daewon lit up the room at their much-anticipated press conference for the collaborative single “Selfish Guy.” Held at Viva Cafe in Quezon City, the event marked the inaugural project under the groundbreaking partnership between Viva Communications Inc. and Milagro Korea, promising a wave of artistic exchanges between the Philippines and South Korea.

    The two, who used to be in pop groups, shared the stage with a lot of energy. Their chemistry was clear as they talked about the story behind the heartfelt ballad. “Selfish Guy,” which Daewon wrote and composed himself, came out just over a week ago on September 5. It talks about the raw tension between love and ambition, drawing from a very personal time in the Korean artist’s life. Daewon said through an interpreter, “This song has been with me for a long time.” His voice was steady but full of feeling. “I sang it by myself for years, but it never felt right. Aubrey’s voice added the emotional depth that was missing, like a conversation between two hearts across borders.

    Daewoon’s honest, autobiographical writing is at the heart of “Selfish Guy.” He says that the song came about as a way to let out his feelings: “This is about the guy who goes after his dreams and loses his love along the way.” I put those feelings into this rock ballad. He proudly says, “It’s the first song I ever wrote and composed,” as a sign of how far he’s come as an artist. Daewoon has been in the business for years, but he says, “I never thought I would be able to write and compose a song.” But once I got inspired, the process went quickly: “It didn’t take me long to write the song because I was focused on it, about 1 to 2 days.”

    Hearing Daewoon sing Tagalog for the first time adds to the song’s bilingual charm. Fans and coworkers have both been amazed by his dedication. One person said, “The first time I heard Lee Daewoon sing Tagalog, it sounded like he had been studying it for a long time.” I’m very proud of him. This effort shows how the song can connect people from different worlds and make personal loss feel like it affects everyone.

    Known for hits like “How You Feel” and her lead role as Samantha Vera in Viva One’s “Avenues of the Diamond,” she reflects on her group days with fondness: “After being in a girl group and then a solo artist, hindi naman po ako nahirapan sa transition because I started as solo. Na miss ko yung bonding with my group, at hindi lang ako yung kinakabahan on stage.” The 25-year-old performer has evolved from her days in the girl group Pop Girls into a versatile balladeer. “Working with Daewon was magical,” she enthused, her eyes sparkling under the conference lights. “We both come from group backgrounds, so there’s this shared understanding of chasing dreams solo. This is our first male-female collab, and it feels like the start of something bigger.”

    The presscon buzzed with applause as the pair performed their collaboration track, their voices intertwining in a bilingual melody that evoked the tear-jerking romance of a K-drama crossed with the soulful drama of a teleserye.

    There was a lot of support and shared passion in the studio sessions. Aubrey, whose emotional delivery makes the duet’s longing choruses even better, says the process was both hard and fun: “Nag struggle ako kapag hindi ko nakukuha ang note, but they’re very helpful and at the end of the day, na enjoy ko yung process.” From the beginning to the end, the two of them were involved in every note, and their chemistry came out naturally. Aubrey says, “Nagkaroon ng chemistry because we are both passionate sa music.”

    As Aubrey gets ready for her first performance in Korea to promote her single, she gets more and more excited. “It will be my first time in Korea, I’m really looking forward to it, and I hope we can collaborate on more songs soon.” The collaboration is a way for Daewoon, whose trot-infused style has long charmed audiences around the world, to get to know Filipinos better. What does he want to do right now? “My first goal is to get love and support from my Filipino fans and to learn more Tagalog and English words.”

    In describing each other, admiration flows freely. Aubrey gushes, “He is amazing, not just his voice but also his personality. Grabe ang passion nya and focused nya to learn and sing Tagalog.” Daewoon echoes the sentiment: “Aubrey Caraan is very professional and focused on her craft.” Together, they’ve not just created a song but a blueprint for heartfelt exchanges under the Viva-Milagro banner, promising more bridges between Manila and Seoul.

    A landmark in American musical theatre and celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year, A Chorus Line revolutionized Broadway by spotlighting the lives of ensemble dancers—the unsung heroes of every musical. As it follows 17 hopefuls vying for eight spots, it becomes an ode to ambition, sacrifice, and individuality. TGA is bringing this story to life with an all-Filipino cast, celebrating the global talent and cultural depth of the Philippines.

    TGA’s Overall Artistic and Creative Director, Tony Award-winner Clint Ramos, shares, “This local production of A Chorus Line will honor the iconic legacy of its original 1975 premiere while breathing new life into its message for a new generation.” The musical is notable for its stripped-down set, iconic choreography, and intensely personal monologues that explore identity, perseverance, and the often invisible cost of chasing a dream. It remains one of the few musicals to ever win the 1976 Pulitzer Prize for Drama aside from winning the Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Book of A Musical (James Kirkwood), Best Original Score (Marvin Hamlisch and Edward Kleban), Best Director (Michael Bennett), and Best Choreography (Michael Bennett and Bob Avian) that same year.

    As it celebrates its golden year, this enduring production continues to inspire anyone who’s ever dared to chase a dream. Beloved songs include “One [Singular Sensation],” “What I Did For Love,” “I Can Do That,” “I Hope I Get It,” and “The Music and the Mirror.” A film adaptation was released in 1985, directed by Richard Attenborough and starring Michael Douglas.

    New York-based Emmy Award-winning Karla Puno Garcia who is set to direct and choreograph the musical shares, “This production is as much about discovering raw, beautiful talent as it is about telling a story.” The celebrated respected Fil-Am artist and dance educator expounds, “I’ve lived this story.     Puno Garcia promises a production that remains faithful to the original material while making it resonate with a younger set of Filipino theatergoers, “I’ve been in conversation with Baayork Lee, who embodies the spirit of the original production. Once we complete the casting, we’ll breathe new life into the material while staying true to the original show’s hallmarks. I’m especially excited to explore the characters with the all-Filipino cast we’re forming. I want to hear their stories and how they connect with the roles they’re portraying. I can’t wait to be inspired by their perspectives and find a way to use our combined experiences to organically create something that translates into today.”

    Shrek The Musical crowns its young and teen Fiona

    The tower doors have opened, and the chosen princesses are ready to sing. Newport World Resorts has officially named the young actresses who will portray Young Fiona and Teen Fiona in its upcoming ogre-sized production of Shrek The Musical, set to open on October 31, 2025, at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.

    The casting news comes after a weekend of fairytale-worthy auditions held on July 19 and 20 at the Academy for Leisure and Tourism in Newport World Resorts. Dozens of aspiring performers belted out “I Know It’s Today” in front of the show’s creative team, all vying to portray the younger versions of Fiona.

    Selected to alternate as Young Fiona are Nela Quilloy Cu Unjieng, Tiffany Criss Ching, and Althea Ruedas. Cu Unjieng has performed in various youth theater productions, including Godspell and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Ching, a homeschooled student, brings solo vocal experience and stage confidence. Ruedas, the eldest among the trio, has a background in both film and television, with appearances in local and international screen projects.

    For Teen Fiona, the production has cast Daniella Albano, Lois Bersalona, Simone Valderrama Martinez, and Crystalia Jaya. Albano, a former cast member of the international touring production of The Lion King, brings professional musical theater experience to the ensemble. Bersalona is a soprano and student performer affiliated with the University of Santo Tomas, while Martinez has appeared in concerts, music videos, and television commercials. Jaya, the youngest among them, is set to showcase her expressive soprano and strong stage presence.

    Rehearsals for Shrek The Musical began in August, with the cast preparing for a full-scale fairytale spectacle this holiday season. The musical, beloved for its irreverent humor and heartwarming message, will feature original Broadway staging elements, an ensemble of local talents, and a swamp-load of theatrical magic that promises fun for all ages.

    Shrek The Musical is based on the DreamWorks Animation Motion Picture and the book by William Steig. It features book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori. The hit musical was originally produced on Broadway by DreamWorks Theatricals and Neal Street Productions. This deadly battle royale is already drawing international buzz, including an invitation to the 30th Busan International Film Festival, with the potential to be hailed as a “game-changer for the Japanese serial drama industry.”

    The newly released teaser offers a pulse-pounding preview of the series’ atmosphere and the personalities of its many combatants. The production team’s commitment to authenticity is evident in the meticulous attention to costumes, weaponry, and the physical training of the cast, ensuring each character leaves a memorable impression even in the midst of rapid-fire action.

    A High-Stakes Battle Royale Set in the Meiji Era

    Set in the late 19th century during the Meiji period, Last Samurai Standing thrusts viewers into a relentless life-and-death game. At nightfall, 292 warriors — including lead character Shujiro Saga (Junichi Okada) — gather at Kyoto’s Tenryuji Temple, each lured by the promise of a massive cash prize. Each donning a single wooden tag, participants must steal the tags of their rivals and race to Tokyo to claim victory. As the signal sounds, the temple erupts into chaos, launching a brutal fight for survival where only one can stand victorious.

    The action is epic, with the large-scale melee at Tenryuji Temple filmed over multiple days and involving more than 1,000 cast and crew members. Producer and star Junichi Okada, together with director Michihito Fujii, pushed the boundaries of visual storytelling, blending modern CG advancements with practical effects to deliver some of the most realistic and visceral action scenes ever seen in Japanese television.

    A Star-Studded and Expanding Cast

    The series boasts an impressive ensemble, with Junichi Okada not only leading the cast but also serving as producer and action planner. He is joined by Yumia Fujisaka, Kaya Kiyohara, Masahiro Higashide, Shota Sometani, Taichi Saotome, Yuya Endo, Yasushi Fuchikami, Kairi Jo, Takayuki Yamada, Wataru Ichinose, Riho Yoshioka, Kazunari Ninomiya, Hiroshi Tamaki, and Hideaki Ito. Today’s announcement reveals even more star power: Gaku Hamada as Superintendent General Toshiyoshi Kawaji; Taiiku Okazaki as Jinroku Keage, a successor of the Kyohachi-ryu school of swordsmanship; Arata Iura as Home Minister Toshimichi Okubo; Tetsushi Tanaka as Bureau of Communications chief Hisoka Maejima; and Ayumu Nakajima as Okubo’s secretary Shinpei Nagase. These new additions promise to further enrich the series’ expansive world.
