  • JAN ROBERTS RELEASES “TANAW”, SETS SIGHTS ON NEW HORIZONS!

JAN ROBERTS RELEASES “TANAW”, SETS SIGHTS ON NEW HORIZONS!

With three songs in Spotify’s Top 200 charts, releasing a couple of new singles, an upcoming tour, and his first headliner event, Jan Roberts has had an eventful year.

Hailing from Bicol, Jan began his rise to fame on Tiktok, with millions of views and thousands of fans interacting on his posts. As a graduate in the performing arts, Jan began writing during the pandemic in 2020 and gained recognition through online busking on Discord. Recently, he has been making waves in the local music scene by carving out his own path.

Jan’s breakthrough came with the viral success of his track “Sagip,” which peaked at #3 on the Spotify PH Viral 100 charts and has since garnered over 24 million streams. The simplicity of his guitar melodies complements his raw, honest lyrics, moving audiences and cementing his reputation as a rising star. Following that success was “Hirap Kalimutan,” which achieved 500,000 streams on Spotify and had its lyric video trend at #23 on YouTube in its first week of release. Recently, he achieved yet another milestone: his three tracks, “Hirap Kalimutan,” “Sagip,” & “Patalang,” all entered the Spotify Top 200 charts at the same time. This further solidified his place in the OPM scene and is undoubtedly one to watch.

“Sobrang mixed emotions hindi ko minsan maramdaman kung ano yung dapat ko mafeel sa bilis at dami ng nangyayari, lalo na this is my dream and passion. Hindi ko pa rin maabsorb na wow ang dami na pala talagang nakakaalam ng songs ko at sobrang thankful ako sa lahat ng sumusuporta saakin. Walang katapusang pasasalamat. Masaya ako ngayon sa journey ko.” – Jan Roberts on his journey as an artist.

His most recent release, “Tanaw,” gained 100,000 streams in its first three days. “Tanaw” is a heartfelt waltz song about an endless love. No matter what happens or who comes along, they always end up with each other. Like dancing with the one you love, the song feels warm and timeless, as if every step is a promise. “Tanaw” is a song for those who believe that in the end, there will only ever be one person they’ll keep in sight.

“Kahit lumipas ang panahon at kumupas ang ganda, ikaw pa rin ang tanaw sa dulo ng mga alaala.” – Jan Roberts about “Tanaw.”

An advance screening event for the song’s music video will happen on October 17, 2025, at Backspacer Records in Pasig, where some of his superfans will get the opportunity to be among the first to watch it before its release on October 18, 2025.

His out-of-town fans will get an opportunity to watch and listen to him play his hits live during his tour, “Gabay Tuwing Naliligaw,” going to different provinces like Pampanga, Laguna, Batangas, Nueva Ecija, Cavite, and Rizal. The tour will be the lead-up to his first headlining show and official merch launch on November 29, 2025, at 123 Block in Mandala Park, Mandaluyong City, with guest artists like The Ridleys, Any Name’s Okay, Eliza Maturan, and so much more. Tickets are now available for sale, with more details on Jan’s social media.

Despite the busy schedule and back-to-back tour and performances, Jan is just beginning. Fans and OPM lovers should definitely keep Jan within their sights.

  • NINO’s Latest Track “Flutter, Lover” Is A Dreamy Daze!

NINO’s Latest Track “Flutter, Lover” Is A Dreamy Daze!

A mesmerizing entry into the RnB/Soul genre, Diorama’s NINO has just released his latest single, “Flutter, Lover,” a song that talks about personal aspirations, and a partner who’s got your back.
When asked about the concept, NINO shared a poetic vision: “While writing, I was imagining myself lying in bed while looking up at a butterfly fluttering delicately above me. I wanted to be like the butterfly, free enough to hover in the air and be confident despite all my fragility.” A common theme of NINO’s songs, surrendering yourself to its melody and dreamy lyrics will put you in a daze — much like the gentle beat of a butterfly’s wings. His unique vocals paired with his imaginative lyrical narrative is a day dreaming combo.

More than the “flutter” portion of the song, “lover” reframes it through an intimate lens—as NINO puts it, “In another lens, I see the butterfly as my partner. Someone who exudes beauty, whom I admire deeply and inspires me to become a better version of myself.” Whether you’re drawn to the whimsical “flutter” side, the heartfelt “lover” perspective, or the blend of both emotional spectrums, “Flutter, Lover” will reel you in with its playful, sincere, and intimate vibes.
Stream “Flutter, Lover” now on your favorite platforms, and follow NINO and Diorama FM on all social media platforms for updates.

Everything You Need to Know About the Playback: Pop It Up! Music Festival

If you’re into sing-along pop anthems, 2000s nostalgia, and international headliners with radio-friendly hits, Playback’s Pop It Up! Music Festival is set to deliver. Happening on November 21, 2025 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, the one-night event brings together three major acts: Blue, Vanessa Carlton, and David Archuleta. Fans can expect an evening of harmonies, piano ballads, and timeless pop moments designed to bring back memories while creating new ones.

    What is Playback?

Playback is a nostalgia-driven festival brand that curates throwback concert experiences featuring beloved international acts. With themed lineups ranging from pop to punk and emo, the series has become a go-to event for fans who want to relive the golden eras of their favorite music. More than just concerts, Playback festivals are full-scale experiences, often including merchandise booths, photo areas, and interactive fan activities.

    The Lineup

    Blue (UK)
The iconic British boy band—Simon Webbe, Duncan James, Antony Costa, and Lee Ryan—rose to fame in the early 2000s with polished pop and R&B hits like All Rise, One Love, and their collaboration with Elton John, Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word. Their smooth vocals, coordinated performances, and enduring catalog make them festival favorites, especially for fans who grew up in the boy-band era.

    Vanessa Carlton (US)
Known worldwide for her piano-driven anthem A Thousand Miles, Vanessa Carlton brings a touch of intimacy and artistry to the lineup. Her blend of pop songwriting with lush arrangements and heartfelt lyrics ensures a memorable performance. Fans can expect a mix of her classic hits alongside selections from her later albums, which showcase her evolution as a songwriter.

    David Archuleta (US)
Catapulted to fame on American Idol, David Archuleta captured hearts with his soaring vocals and pop ballads. His debut single Crush remains a fan favorite, while his heartfelt stage presence has helped him build a dedicated following. His set is expected to deliver both nostalgia and fresh energy, combining classics with newer material.

Together, the three acts promise a well-balanced show—uplifting pop, emotional ballads, and irresistible sing-along moments.

    • Festival extras such as official merchandise, photobooths, and themed installations.
    • Meet-and-greet opportunities for select packages
    • Diverse crowd energy, ranging from longtime fans of the acts to younger audiences discovering the music for the first time.

Production-wise, the concert will focus on strong live vocals and audience interaction, ensuring that the music—not just the spectacle—takes center stage.

    Getting There and Tips

Located within the SM Mall of Asia complex in Pasay, the arena is accessible by car, ride-hailing services, and public transport. Given the heavy traffic during major concerts, arriving early is highly recommended. The venue has multiple entrances, strict security checks, and specific bag policies, so fans are advised to travel light and check official guidelines in advance.

    A few helpful tips:

    • Charge your phone fully and bring a power bank for photos and videos.
    • Keep both digital and printed copies of your ticket.
    • If you purchased VIP or meet-and-greet passes, bring a valid ID and follow call times closely.

    Why You Shouldn’t Miss It

Playback: Pop It Up! is more than just a concert—it’s a chance to revisit the music that defined an era. With the harmonies of Blue, the timeless piano melodies of Vanessa Carlton, and the heartfelt vocals of David Archuleta, the night promises to be both nostalgic and uplifting. For pop fans in Manila, this is the ultimate throwback festival of 2025.

  • The world falls apart beautifully in Jewel Owusu’s new EP, the end of everything

The world falls apart beautifully in Jewel Owusu’s new EP, the end of everything

With lush, experimental production and disarmingly honest lyrics, Owusu delivers a compelling mixtape about heartbreak, loss, and identity

Filipino-Ghanian artist Jewel Owusu has released her new mixtape project, the end of everything on all digital music platforms worldwide.

The eight-track EP captures the fragility, resilience, and transformation that come with endings—be it ordinary or life-altering—but experienced through the turbulent lens of youth.

At once poetic and piercing, the end of everything explores what it means to come undone and be rebuilt, weaving existential reflection with sonic experimentation. Owusu’s songwriting unearths the nuanced devastation of loss, heartbreak, and disillusionment, but with hope still clinging behind the trail.

“When you’re young, everything from minor inconveniences to life-shattering moments can feel equally devastating, as if the world is collapsing around you,” shares the Australia-based pop act. “This project captures the journey of coming to terms with an imperfect reality, uncovering the cracks in relationships, worldviews, and expectations that once seemed unshakable.”

    The art of endings

Across its eight songs, the end of everything transforms endings into a kaleidoscope of emotion and experience, with each track serving as a mirror for the different ways we lose and rediscover ourselves. From the grief-laden stillness of “this is the end” to the aching surrender of “don’t let me go” and the existential unraveling of “self-importance,” Owusu delivers a collection that feels deeply personal and universally resonant.

Described as the project’s anchor points, “slip away” and “self-importance” reveal a more vulnerable side of Jewel Owusu. “The former captures the sonic and emotional atmosphere I wanted for the EP,” she says. “It conveys isolation and the feeling of being out of place while growing up. The latter, on the other hand, reflects on how humans create meaning to cope with existence and death, and how those beliefs can sometimes lead to a heightened sense of ego.”

The recurring motif of the mouse threads through the project’s conceptual heart,  a metaphor for fragility and endurance amidst chaos. In Owusu’s world, the mouse represents tact and survival, a symbol of power within powerlessness. It embodies the emotional landscape of the record: the tension between fear and resilience, control and surrender.

    A sonic evolution

Produced alongside a cohort of talented collaborators, including HAMLEY, Dylan Guy, Aria Wood, Dugong, and Jarrod Jeremiah, the EP marks a remarkable pivot for Owusu in terms of songwriting and sound. Known for her genre-blending approach and tender storytelling, she expands her sound on the eight-track mixtape through textured production, layered vocal effects, and experimental arrangements, all while retaining her pop appeal.

“This project is definitely an evolution of my sound. I experimented a lot with vocal production, pushing my voice in new ways,” Owusu reflects. “My collaborators and I played around with different types of distortion and layered a lot of FX into the backing vocals, which is something I had not explored as deeply before. A great example is the final track, ‘cut my hand,’ where so many of the textures were created using my voice.”

Working closely with HAMLEY, who also mixed the entire project, gave the EP a unified, cohesive sound while preserving its emotional volatility. The result is a collection of songs the feels cinematic yet intimate, built from a palette of melancholic synths, subtle percussions, and affecting vocal performances that oscillate between fragility and defiance.

Following the shimmering, playful tones of her previous EP, Jool Wave, Owusu now ventures into darker, more introspective territory. “Jool Wave was a lot more experimental and leaned into a cute, bubbly sound,” she shares. “The End of Everything has a grittier sonic soundscape that matches its themes. I feel like I’m growing into an artist who is more honest in their writing—unafraid to say exactly what I think.”

That honesty is what makes the end of everything so arresting. Each track feels like a page torn from a private journal,  confessional set to soundscapes that shimmer between melancholy and transcendence. Whether reflecting on the end of belief, love, ego, or belonging, Owusu reveals the moment when endings give birth to renewal—the realization that even in the ruins, something soft remains.

“I hope that listeners feel a sense of hope on the other side of whatever they’re going through,” she says. “Even the darkest moments will eventually pass.”

  • Cup of Joe Makes History with Sold-Out Stardust Concert Run at Araneta, Receives Multiple Honors Before Kicking Off World Tour

Cup of Joe Makes History with Sold-Out Stardust Concert Run at Araneta, Receives Multiple Honors Before Kicking Off World Tour

Proving their status as one of the most important forces in Original Pilipino Music (OPM) today, Cup of Joe has concluded their three-night sold-out Stardust concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, making history as the first Filipino band to achieve five sold-out shows at the Big Dome in a single year.

The band’s unprecedented achievement came on the heels of their earlier SILAKBO concert in May, and Stardust marked another milestone in their rise from Baguio-based musicians to record-breaking artists now preparing for a world tour.

The three-day spectacle opened on October 10 with promising singer-songwriter dana paulene setting the stage, followed by a thunderous surprise appearance from Gloc-9, widely regarded as a pioneer of Pinoy hip-hop. Together, Cup of Joe and Gloc-9 performed the iconic “Bagsakan,” blending rap and pop-rock in one explosive performance that immediately set the tone for the concert series. The Araneta Group also paid tribute to the band’s growing legacy by inducting Cup of Joe into the Araneta Coliseum Wall of Fame, where their image now stands alongside those of legendary acts who have defined Philippine music history.

On October 11, Stardust showcased Cup of Joe’s versatility and reverence for OPM traditions. Jayda energized the crowd with her bold single “Action!” before the band delivered a mix of fan favorites and unexpected covers, including One Direction’s “Night Changes.” The night reached its peak when the APO Hiking Society joined the band onstage for a heartfelt performance of “Panalangin” and Cup of Joe’s own “Alas Dose,” creating a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration between OPM icons across generations.

The finale on October 12 was no less historic. Keanna Mag of Vicor Music opened with her signature hits “to the bone” and “Takipsilim,” as well as her new single “Babalik.” Later, Cup of Joe surprised fans with a nostalgic cover of the Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way,” before welcoming Yeng Constantino, one of the most influential voices of modern OPM. Together, they performed Constantino’s hit “Jeepney Love Story” and Cup of Joe’s “Wag Na Lang,” closing the concert run with the perfect balance of nostalgia and fresh energy.

Across all three nights, Cup of Joe performed their signature tracks “Tingin,” “Misteryoso,” “Ikaw Pa Rin Ang Pipiliin Ko,” “Estranghero,” “Sandali,” and their career-defining hit “Multo.” With over 11.6 million monthly listeners, Cup of Joe is currently the most-streamed Filipino band on Spotify. “Multo” alone has shattered multiple records, including the longest-running No. 1 song on Spotify Philippines’ Daily Chart, where it reigned for over six months, and the highest single-day streams in Spotify PH history with 2.3 million plays in 24 hours.

Their streaming dominance was officially recognized during Stardust by Believe Music Publishing, which awarded the band for surpassing 4 billion all-time streams across all digital platforms — a landmark never before reached by a Filipino act. Simultaneously, Billboard Philippines honored Cup of Joe for “Multo,” which spent an unprecedented 27 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Philippines Top 100, making it the longest-running chart-topper in the country’s history.

These accolades cement Cup of Joe’s reputation as not only one of the most popular but also one of the most record-breaking Filipino groups of all time. Their impact bridges platforms, generations, and genres, uniting millions of listeners under their music.

Following their historic Araneta run, Cup of Joe is set to embark on their world tour, expanding their reach to international audiences. The tour kicks off on October 31 at the Saban Theater in Los Angeles, followed by shows at the Graton Resort and Casino in San Francisco (Nov 1–2), the Chinese Cultural Center in Calgary (Nov 7), Edmonton Expo Centre (Nov 8), Transcona Country Club in Winnipeg (Nov 14), Chandos Pattison Auditorium in Vancouver (Nov 15), and The Arena Pickering Casino Resort in Toronto (Nov 16). The tour will culminate on November 29 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.

To mark this milestone era, Cup of Joe also launched pre-orders for the vinyl edition of their acclaimed album SILAKBO, available until October 31 through bit.ly/SILAKBOvinyl. Official merchandise was made available at The Big Dome throughout the Stardust concert series, giving fans an opportunity to take home a piece of history.

From their induction into the Araneta Wall of Fame to receiving historic awards for streaming and chart achievements, and from electrifying collaborations with Gloc-9, APO Hiking Society, and Yeng Constantino to preparing for their first-ever global tour, Cup of Joe’s Stardust run was more than just a concert series — it was a landmark moment for OPM. As the band looks to bring their music to international stages, they carry with them not only their record-breaking success but also the pride of elevating Filipino music for the world to see.

Get ready to dance, shout, and lose yourself in the music. Experience the unstoppable, electrifying energy of rock icons FRANZ FERDINAND live!

    About The Artist: FRANZ FERDINAND
Franz Ferdinand — The Human Fear
Ever since their beginnings, throwing illegal parties in condemned Glasgow buildings, Franz Ferdinand have been defined by a fresh, unfading, forward-facing outlook. A transgressive art-school perspective, but with a love of a big song. A big riff. A big idea. Somewhat contrary. Unafraid to dance. Unafraid to think. Unafraid to fear.

Their sixth studio album, The Human Fear, courses with an energy that makes you feel very much alive. Fear makes you feel alive. Awake. A life without fear is a life asleep. Fear is what shows us our humanity. It’s why we search for it in horror films or extreme physical activities. The most life-defining moments are shaped by fear: acknowledging, accepting, or overcoming it. All the good stuff is inseparable from fear. Commencing a relationship. The necessary vulnerability.Ending a relationship. Leaving an institution. Getting on that stage. To overcome fear, whether it’s fear of commitment, leaving an institution, or of isolation… What a buzz. What a reward.

While writing these new songs — many of which, beneath the immediacy of their choruses and melodies, allude to some fairly deep-set human fears — Franz Ferdinand released Hits To The Head, a retrospective of the previous 18 years. It sharpened the band’s perspective, allowing them to understand the essence of what made them work, while liberating them from the past. When you know who you are and are comfortable with it, you are free to go somewhere new. At this point in their career, Franz Ferdinand definitely know who they are, and are relishing the vigour that comes with accepting that.

There was a lot of writing before any recording. Then editing and arranging. For a swan to glide serenely, the feet have to kick like a motherfucker below the surface. The idea was to have a songbook before anything was recorded. No jamming. Texture, sonics and studio innovation are fine and thrilling, but superficial indulgence without good, solid songs.

Then the execution as rapidly as possible at AYR Studios, fuelled by the same agility that defined the songs on Hits To The Head. Few takes. The band in the room, playing together. That indescribable thing that happens when they do. The thrill of recording “The Birds” — one of the first songs they recorded — or thrashing out “The Doctor”’s deliriously energetic riff in about six minutes flat. Many of the vocals are the live takes, and those that aren’t were recorded under piles of coats, pillows and blankets in various bedrooms and cupboards across Paris, London, and Glasgow.

Overseeing the recording was producer Mark Ralph, a familiar collaborator who Franz Ferdinand worked with before on Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action. He gets it. Every reference, no matter how obtuse. Effortless. A very easy relationship. A great musician himself — a classical guitar child prodigy turned jazz musician turned pop producer to the stars — but also a good laugh. It has to be a laugh. It needs to be fun: even if the subject matter is dark, the joy of making it brings it to life. His perspective was invaluable.

At the heart of Franz Ferdinand is the relationship between Alex Kapranos and bassist Bob Hardy. They formed the band while working in a kitchen together, initially as an idea, then dredging Glasgow for accomplices. It is still the ideas which excite them before any of the music is made. Julian Corrie’s presence as a collaborator is also strong on this record. Fingers faster than an arpeggiator. Then there’s the dirt and attitude of Dino Bardot’s guitar and the sharp freshness of Audrey Tait’s beat, both of whom are on a full Franz Ferdinand album for the first time.

The cover artwork was inspired by Hungarian artist Dóra Maurer’s self-portrait 7 Twists. The visual side of the band has always been as important to them as the sound, and Maurer’s work appealed because it does exactly what they want from their music: a striking immediacy that is impossible to ignore, but with a depth and vulnerability that bears many returns and satisfactory repetition.

Maybe this is a set of songs about fear. But maybe all that chat about Human Fear is superfluous. Maybe this is just a set of bangers from an era-defining band continuing their unquestionably living legacy. Is that something to be afraid of?

Living a life awake. There is nothing that makes you feel more awake than The Human Fear.

  • BABYMETAL Dominates the Big Dome for their Philippine Concert Debut

BABYMETAL Dominates the Big Dome for their Philippine Concert Debut

On October 8, Kawaii metal pioneers BABYMETAL took over the Araneta Coliseum for the Manila leg of their extensive 2025 to 2026 WORLD TOUR. The band, composed of Suzuka Nakamoto / Su-Metal, Momoko Okazaki / Momometal and Moa Kikuchi / Moametal, brought the raging intensity of metal with just about the right dose of saccharine J-pop. Presented by PULP Live World, the concert thrilled thousands and thousands of fans that had long waited to see the band live.

    BABYMETAL

Hours before the concert, the perimeter of the Big Dome felt like a dark fashion runway. Black was the overarching theme, and the outfits came in all shapes and forms: BABYMETAL shirts, gothic lolita costumes  (corsets, fluffy balloon skirts, platform shoes, etc.), matched with kitsune masks, long coats and vibrant wigs. The concert is well overdue for longtime Filipino fans, and they made the effort to dress in style for their idols.

Since their formation in 2010, BABYMETAL has steadily made long-lasting waves in the world of music. When the song “Gimme Chocolate!!” went viral in 2014, it proved that their innovative fusion of metal and idol music became a magic formula could unlock a multiverse of wonders. They found a way to assimilate the sweet and upbeat pop flavor with the backdrop of face-melting distorted power chords and bludgeoning double to triple bass drum beats. BABYMETAL pulled off impeccable dance routines, pulled finger hearts and sang cheerfully amidst the chaos of metal music.

Since then, the band had gained acclaim from music juggernauts like Rob Halford of Judas Priest, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lady Gaga and Bring Me the Horizon. They had also been billed for some of the biggest music festivals in the world including Glastonbury, Rock Am Ring, Sonicsphere Festival, Download Festival and more.

Opening the show was METALVERSE which is essentially BABYMETAL’s sister group. Composed of Miko Todaka, Kokona Kato, and Sakia Kimura, the girls gave the crowd an electrifying performance.

The Big Dome fully roared to life when it was time for the main act to take the stage. BABYMETAL made their entrance, donning their trademark spiky, holographic dresses, to the pandemonium of “BABYMETAL DEATH”. Instantly, the crowd went wild, raising their fists plus kitsune hand gestures, and headbanging on beat, like a singular organism. This was followed by the 2012 classic “Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!” and the festive “PA PA YA!!”.

Some familiar faces also made some special onscreen cameos, including Tom Morello (from Rage Against the Machine) during “METALI!!”, Electric Callboy during “RATATATA” and Poppy during “from me to u”.

The best thing about BABYMETAL’s concert is the sheer energy of it all. Well, essentially, metal and idol music are probably two of the most high-powered music genres to begin with. You mix them together, and the energy is just astronomically palpable. If you were anywhere in the crowd that night, your pulse would have raced and you would seamlessly follow through with the flow of the music.

Su-Metal’s vocals were unwavering as she effortlessly went from one pitch to another. Moametal and Momometal provided the back-up screams and vocals. Together, the trio’s dance routines were spectacular. The concert was also propelled by the highly seasoned Kami Band, the group’s in-house touring band. Their metal prowess, so to speak, provided the needed intensity to keep the flames burning.

  • Andres Muhlach continues the legacy of Adie in Bagets The Musical

Andres Muhlach continues the legacy of Adie in Bagets The Musical

Four decades since the original Bagets film became a hit, the legacy of Adie lives on as another Muhlach takes the spotlight in Bagets The Musical.

Andres Muhlach as Adie in Bagets The Musical

Andres Muhlach, fresh from his film debut in Minamahal: 100 Bulaklak Para Kay Luna, will step into the role once played by his father, Aga Muhlach, in the 2026 stage adaptation of the beloved 1984 classic.

He completes the new-generation Bagets barkada, alternating performances with fellow VIVA artist Mico Hendrix Chua.

With this final cast reveal, audiences are all set to relive the magic, friendship, and first-love thrills of their teenage years.

    From Aga to Andres
It is a full-circle moment for the young star to breathe new life into Adie, the charming boy-next-door.

“I understand how big Bagets was, and still is, in the Philippines. It’s such a huge part of many Filipino childhood,” he says. “To be part of it, let alone play my dad’s role, feels surreal.”

The original Adie, Aga Muhlach, could not be prouder.

“When we first found out that I got his breakthrough portrayal, he was super happy for me,” he shares. “He was also excited to see how I’m going to approach the character.”

    Making the role his own
Bagets The Musical marks Andres’ first major theater project. Nerves were real, he admits, but with thorough practice and workshops, he felt ready.

“It’s really about honing your talents,” he says. “Once you start learning more about yourself and your abilities, it just makes you more motivated—to perform, improve, and keep getting better.”

While some might call it following in his father’s footsteps, he sees it differently.

“I’d want this to be my own path,” he explains.

“At the end of the day, the hard work is on us, the new Bagets cast. What we put out isn’t because of what the original actors did, but because we want to create something worthy for today’s fans.”

His dedication was evident in his thorough preparation for the role. Muhlach trained extensively, entered auditions well-prepared, and sang before the panel, even though he had never done anything like it on the spot.

“Ever since I was little, I dreamed of seeing myself on the silver screen and on stage,” shares Muhlach. “Now it’s happening. I just feel blessed.”

The rising star has already built a resume that includes TV series like Ang Mutya ng Section E and Da Pers Family.

The heart of ‘Bagets The Musical’
Though he has played high school roles before, Bagets The Musical gives him a chance to show a different side.

“Playing Adie now is a completely new experience,” he says. “He’s still the charismatic, charming boy-next-door type, but his story feels more mature because of his love interest.”

Audiences can once again enjoy the thrills and mischief of student days with the barkada.

“Atasha and I studied abroad, but I enjoyed my time here more because I was with my best friends,” he recalls. “Nothing beats being close to the people who made student life bearable. That’s really at the heart of Bagets The Musical.”

Bagets The Musical is scheduled to run from January 23 to March 2026 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater. Joining Muhlach in the lead cast are Noel Comia Jr. and Tomas Rodriguez as Gilbert, Milo Cruz and Migo Valid as Tonton, Ethan David and KD Estrada as Arnel, and Jeff Moses and Sam Shoaf as Topee, and Mico Hendrix Chua as Adie.

The musical is a joint production of VIVA Communications Inc, The Philippine STAR, and Newport World Resorts, guided by the creative vision of the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) Plus, with director Maribel Legarda, playwright J-mee Katanyag, and musical director Vince Lim. Bagets the Musical is also supported through a partnership with Sun Life Philippines.
