A Weekend in the Skydome with Architects and New Found Glory
Pulp Live World started off 2015 strong and hard, imposing its dominion over the SM Skydome for two nights in a row in the first weekend of February.
First up is what could be Pulp Live World’s blueprint for what is loud in 2015. Architects led the barrage of the edgier-sounding bands the production outfit offers the country year in and year out. The initial assault from the boys from Britain is just what Pinoy rakistas would consider a great way to start their year in house-rattling concerts. While the rest of Pinoy music fans eagerly anticipate a “British invasion” in the coming months, Architects came in like a fierce big bad lone wolf braking away from the more pop-mainstream pack. And like a rabid wolf, they ravaged the state with a 15-song set that was relentless from the get go with “Broken Cross”; the set ebbed towards the end with “The Colours Don’t Run”, then launching a coup de grace with “Distant Blue” and “Grave Digger”.

MYX Music Awards 2015 Nominees Announced
Mark your calendars: The MYX Music Awards 2015 is set to happen on March 25 at Samsung Hall, SM Aura. The awards show, which started in 2006, honors the best in the mainstream OPM industry, including newcomers and veterans alike. MYX has thrown in some fun in this year’s theme which is Bohemian.
This year, the awards show presents a total of 17 nominations. Rapper Gloc 9, who bagged 4 awards last year including Favorite Music Video and Favorite Song, is again on lead with 5 nominations. RnB singer Kyla is also on the spotlight with 4 nominations this year including Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Song. Jay R also gets nominated thrice for Favorite Male Artist, Favorite Urban Video and Favorite Collaboration.

The Tycho Experience in Manila
Scott Hansen’s musical project and pseudonym, Tycho, has evolved over the years since its inception. His project is a creative play that pulls artists and aficionados alike into a dreamy state. Having first entered the creative sphere through his graphic design alias, ISO50, he later on discovered unchartered territories when he began experimenting with musical production. Four albums under his belt, and now touring with three band mates—Zac Brown, Rory O’Connor and Joe Davancens—Tycho finally landed in the sunny shores of Manila for an artistic feast.
Similarobjects was a fitting opening act for Tycho. His mixes were in line with the musical theme of the show—a reflective electronic state. The mood was set with dim lighting against a foggy stage. A technical glitch did not faze Jorge of Similar Objects. He replaced the silence by welcoming the attendees to the Awake tour, and explaining that his software had left him hanging. During this short pause, shouts of appreciation echoed around the Solaire Theater. A quick wait and Similar Objects was back in the zone performing original mixes.
