    Concert-promoter giant, MMI Live announced Grammy-nominated artist/producer duo, The Chainsmokers, is returning to Manila on September 13 at the Mall of Asia Arena.     The first Mr. & Ms. BPO search kicks off

    The Philippines has indeed become a powerhouse when it comes to beauty pageants and modeling competitions. We have proven time and again that we can be on top of the game if given the chance to showcase the so-called ‘inner beauty,’ wit and charm.

    This year, an exciting search unfolds with a fresh and innovative approach, the first Mr. & Ms. BPO. It highlights the workforce behind one of the most progressive industries in the country to date – Business Process Outsourcing – or what is commonly called BPO or contact center.
    The first contact center was established in the Philippines in 1992. After almost two decades, the Philippines was declared the world’s BPO capital. And last year, it was projected to have generated 1.3 million new jobs with a 17% annual growth. Without a doubt, the Philippines is the standard country in the world for the BPO enterprise.

    With all these breakthroughs, the search for the perfect BPO Ambassadors is equally exciting. The time has come to put the spotlight to the new breed of young men and women who can be rightfully called “mga bagong bayani ng bayan” (the new heroes of the country).
    The Search for Mr. & Ms. BPO kicks off and is now accepting applicants. Interested parties must be 18 to 26 years old, single, Filipino citizen or with Filipino blood ancestry, at least 5’4” tall for female and 5’6” tall for male. They must also have proportionate physiques, possess pleasing personalities, and with good moral character. He/she must also be regular employees of the company and a resident of the Philippines.

    The first Mr. & Ms. BPO aims to promote excellence, leadership and camaraderie in the workplace. It will also empower the candidates to impart the right attitude at work and the drive to help in nation building. Facilitating the development of the candidates in a holistic approach is a formidable team composed of mentors for fitness and well-being, communication skills, emotional intelligence acumen and modeling, just to name a few.

    The mentors are Jun Macasaet (Manhunt International 2102 winner), Jonathan Yabut (first winner of The Apprentice Asia), Jennifer Hammond (Binibining Pilipinas 2016), Ruby Manalac (Emotional Intelligence expert) and Mauro Lumba (Century Tuna Sperbods 2014 and fitness enthusiast).

    With budding maturity, David Archuletacaptures two years’ worth of introspection and reflection in The Other Side of Down. His latest pop album is the culmination of dozens of songwriting sessions, long days spent in the studio and nights in the air.

    It is a follow-up to David’s 2008 self-titled platinum debut, which saw him work with established songwriters Iike JC Chasez, Jimmy Harry and Eman Kiriakou.

    Not only that, it is a reintroduction to the Season 7 American Idol runner-up with the angelic voice whom 30 million television viewers fell in love with, and whose masterful performance of John Lennon’s Imagine captivated audiences world-wide.

    Now however, an older, wiser David has emerged, but with faith still on his side and an eternally optimistic wide-eyed outlook. Hence, his latest album’s title. “For me, it’s about moving forward and making progress,” David explains. “I’m heading towards ‘the other side of down’, which is ‘up’.”

    Born David James Archuleta on December 28, 1990, in Miami, Florida to Jeff, a jazz musician from Utah and Lupe, a salsa dancer and singer from Honduras, David was exposed to diverse music genres growing up in Utah, from Latin music on his mother’s side to jazz music from his father’s collection. He was particularly fond of and inspired by gospel, pop, R&B and “soulful” music, as well as Broadway musicals.

    Barely after Idol, David saw massive success straight out the gate with his first lead single Crush, a catchy pop tune about unrequited teenage love written by Emanuel Kiriakou, David Hodges and Jess Cates, which charted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has since sold two milliondownloads.

    His sophomore album, a record entitled Christmas From The Heart, reflects his love for the holiday season and debuted at #2 on Billboard’s Holiday Albums in late 2009.

    “For me, Christmas music has always been such a big time in my life,” David recounts.* A year later saw him singing with the prestigious Mormon Tabernacle Choir at their Christmas extravaganza, which earned him rave reviews.

    David has toured extensively across the United States, the United Kingdom and Asia to perform for fans. His current eclectic musical inspirations run the pop-rock gamut, from acoustic guitar-driven singer-songwriters like Jason Mraz to the electronic sounds of female innovators like Imogen Heap and A Fine Frenzy. “It’s amazing how one song can change someone’s life,” says David. “It’s been done for me so many times and I want to give to my fans the same thing those artists have given me.”

    Coming off a successful edition in 2016, the Paradise International Music Festival (Paradise IMF) took a short breather this year but promises a bigger attraction that will give all music fans a huge treat come 2018.

    In its inaugural staging, the festival attracted artists from a broad spectrum of genres, including international hip-hop and pop culture sensation Kanye West who rocked the stage in Manila, together with equally big acts. The genre-bending line-up included Wiz Khalifa, Austin Mahone, Rudimental, Afrojack, Up Dharma Down, and many others. Heading into its second edition, the multi-genre music festival is shaping up to set the bar for music festivals in the Philippines and become the country’s summer music tradition.

    Paradise’s organizers, led by Vian Serranilla and Joshua Ylaya, are promising its Castaways a massive and more festive atmosphere, with the announcement of acts set to happen later this year.“In the 2018 edition, we plan to make it a bigger and better show for all,” said Serranilla. “We’ll make it a spectacle that will have people looking forward to the next shows as soon as they step in the grounds.” For those who were there during the inaugural staging, expect many more surprises with the twists added in the second edition.     Korea’s top solo artist and member of BIGBANG, TAEYANG, announced his second world tour WHITE NIGHT in Manila on September 22, 2017.

    TAEYANG is best known for his soulful voice, he was the first member of BIGBANG to step out from the group as a solo artist when released his first album, “Hot” in 2008. The album received praise from the public and critics alike, with “Hot” winning the award for Best R&B/Soul Record, and the single, “Look At Only Me”, winning the award for Best R&B/Soul Song at the 6th Korean Pop Music Awards.
