  • 5 Moments From Lee Seung Gi’s “Vagabond Voyage” Fan Meeting In Manila That Made The Wait Worth It

5 Moments From Lee Seung Gi’s “Vagabond Voyage” Fan Meeting In Manila That Made The Wait Worth It

If people will ask me which South Korean actor I want to see in person, Lee Seung Gi will always top my list. He has been my favorite actor since that day I started watching My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho in 2010 where he played Cha Dae Woong, an aspiring actor who fell in love with the adorable Miho, a gumiho, played by Shin Min Ah. I have watched all his dramas — from Shining Inheritance to his current project Vagabond (and if only I could get a copy of The Infamous Chil Sisters, I will probably have binge-watched it already) — and savor every episode of them.

That is why, that night of October 12, 2019, was a culmination of an almost decade-long of waiting and praying to finally see him on the Philippine shore — not only for me, but more so, for thousands of his Airens who filled the New Frontier Theater with warmth, sincerity, and joy for the one-night-only 2019 LEE SEUNG GI ASIA FAN MEETING <VAGABOND VOYAGE> in Manila.

Allow me to take you back to that night when the dream has finally ended and has now become a reality as I list down five (from the many) special moments from Vagabond Voyage that made the wait for Lee Seung Gi worth it.

Moment #1: A Nostalgic Opening Number Of “Because You’re My Woman”

When the lights dimmed, everyone knew what is about to happen. Excited screams filled the venue, becoming louder when the first beat of “Because You’re My Woman” resonated and Lee Seung Gi finally came into view.

The feels were overwhelming because the song took everyone back in time to when it all started — in the year 2004 when the then-17-year-old Lee Seung Gi debuted as a singer with the chart-topping hit “Because You’re My Woman” from his first album The Dream of a Moth. Fifteen years after, Philippine Airens got to witness the first ever live performance of the song in their home country.

The song number was followed by the long-awaited greeting, a testament that, indeed, Lee Seung Gi is finally in the Philippines.

Moment #2: His Generous Sharing Of Himself During The Talk Portion

With a 15-year career under his belt and the fan meeting being his first visit in the country, a lot of catching up took place that night. Moreover, there is so much to talk about Lee Seung Gi. He is, in the first place, a Triple Threat Entertainer, who boasts an impressive track record and has been awarded for his works as a singer, actor, and variety show host with his most recent biggest win being a Daesang award for Master In The House from the SBS Entertainment Awards.

Although he is grateful and honored for the recognition, the singer-actor said he does not put so much sentiment into awards. However, if there is an award for the most hardworking and diligent person, he said he wanted to win that award. And why not? Lee Seung Gi has been working non-stop since his debut and probably the longest break he had was his mandatory military service which he also accomplished well (He was a member of the special forces!).

In fact, the singer-actor admitted going straight into filming his comeback drama Hwayugi a day after his military discharge. Currently, he stars as Cha Dal Gun in the drama Vagabond. The drama, which airs on SBS and is available on Netflix, reunited him with his Gu Family Book co-star Bae Suzy.

The talk portion gave fans more reasons to admire Lee Seung Gi and be proud to be a fan of a dedicated person who puts so much of his time and effort into giving his all for his craft. It was also an opportunity to get to know him better (and his cute dog Perro), face palm a bit with his infamous dance, laugh with him when he kinda gave up on working with children again after Little Forest, smile when he said he wanted three children, worry because he got minor cuts and bruises while filming, and be proud at how his hard work has paid off.

Moment #3: When He Only Wants The Best And Safest Lunch Box For His PH Airens

Probably the cutest segment in the fan meeting, Lee Seung Gi tried his hand in making a lunch box for a lucky fan! It was too adorable to see him seemingly frustrated about the ingredients (especially about the carrot) and the tools laid out in front of him for the task and watch him do his best in making a unique kimbap (rice roll) using seaweed wrapper, rice, cheese, and grapes with mustard, ketchup, and mayo on the side while using his bare hands as requested by his fans. (“Philippine Airens seem to have strong stomachs,” he said.)

Despite the limited time, ingredients, and tools, Lee Seung Gi did it impressively and got a “masarap” from the chosen fan who traveled all the way from Butuan City to see him that night. The singer-actor himself could not believe that his unique kimbap was approved and immediately put his newly-learned word “masarap” into use, saying “Masarap?! You liar!” to the fan.

The segment was too cute for words, to be honest, that everyone was just laughing and smiling all throughout while Lee Seung Gi was adorably ranting about the ingredients and tools and worrying about the safety of the food for consumption.

Aside from preparing a sweet snack for a fan, he also gamely played a relay game with nine fans where he did sipa, jump rope, charades, and one family. Although the game was exhausting, the singer-actor retained his smile all throughout and played well with the fans who also gave their best for their respective teams to win a photo opportunity with their idol. Every Airen will probably say “sana all” because the winning team’s representatives got to take home clothes personally worn by Lee Seung Gi during the filming of Vagabond. Again, all together now, “sana all“.

Moment #4: That Mini Concert That Got Everyone Up His Or Her Feet!

A Lee Seung Gi party went down at the New Frontier Theater as the singer-actor went all out and turned the venue into a concert stage, singing songs such as “Delete”, “Smile Boy” and “Let’s Go On A Vacation”. It was a fun memory, seeing the people inside the venue sing along and bop their head to the beat.

Lee Seung Gi was also filled with energy as he jumps and dances to the music. It maybe a moment that lasted minutes, but it is now a memory that Philippine Airens will keep for a lifetime. As Lee Seung Gi said during the fan meeting, “The first memory is really just the perfect memory I’m so happy to have made it with my Filipino fans.” *cries in the corner

Moment #5: That Video Message And Those Banners Prepared With So Much Love By PH Airens

We cannot let this list end without giving a special shoutout to all the Philippine Airens who made the night extra meaningful for Lee Seung Gi and their fellow fans. Fans of the singer-actor made sure their beloved idol felt all the warmth and love in his first ever fan meeting in the Philippines through their fan projects.

Sincerity was dearly felt that night on how much Lee Seung Gi meant to Philippine Airens through a video presentation that showcased their support and relayed their message to him. They also prepared banners which were raised while they were singing a song for him. It was a touching moment that got us smiling from ear-to-ear, extremely proud of Philippine Airens for their effort and sincere love for Lee Seung Gi.

Before singing “Delete”, Lee Seung Gi relayed his gratitude to his Philippine Airens. “Thank you for inviting me. I appreciate you for giving me good memories,” he said.

The 2019 LEE SEUNG GI ASIA FAN MEETING <VAGABOND VOYAGE> in Manila was journey Lee Seung Gi took to meet his Philippine Airens. After 15 years, the dream has finally ended, and the start of another journey has started for the singer-actor and his fans, his guiding compass.

“In the future, please stay with me and continue being my compass,” Lee Seung Gi said in his special video message during the fan meeting’s finale. And as they have waited for more than a decade for that night, Philippine Airens will surely stay and help their beloved Lee Seung Gi find his route like they always did through these years.

  • Tiny Moving Parts To Return To Manila For A Concert In 2020

Tiny Moving Parts To Return To Manila For A Concert In 2020

After their memorable first show in the Philippines in 2018, Minnesota’s Tiny Moving Parts are making their way to Manila with fresh tunes. PULP live World and Skesh Entertainment proudly present Tiny Moving Parts Live in Manila 2020, happening on February 9, 2020 at the SM City North EDSA Skydome.

With the release of their brand new album breathe, Tiny Moving Parts are set to deliver another show that’s every bit the energetic set that their fans enjoy from start to finish. Newly signed by Hopeless Records, the trio (composed of brothers Matt and Bill Chevalier, along with their cousin Dylan Mattheisen) are indeed breathing new life to their music, five full-length albums into a career that has lasted for over a decade now.

“This record covers things we’ve talked about in the past — the fear of dying, losing someone through moving away, or the passing of someone — but it concentrates more on the positives, and being happy things happened instead of sad they’re taken away,” shares vocalist/guitarist Dylan Mattheisen in a press release. “It’s about finding that mindset to keep powering through.”

breathe was written on the road, in between tours they have carried out in support of their previous record, Swell, which came out January 2018. Moving forward sonically and emotionally with breathe, they have delivered through this album the same emotionally-drive blend of math-rock, pop-punk, and emo, but not without expanding their sound.

“We’re not trying to do anything, we’re just playing music. And if they label us, they label us. It’s not like it bothers us. They’re gonna call us something,” drummer Billy Chevalier tells PULP Magazine in an exclusive interview, reflecting on how their music is described by the public. “We always want to keep it interesting and keep it different, unique,” Dylan Mattheisen adds. “We love sing-along parts, but we also live chaotic craziness, so it’s just trying to find a blend of what we all love about music… whatever feels right, we do it.”

With vivid flashbacks of their frenetic first Manila show in September 2018, the thought of having them back in town for an even more insane show is nothing short of exciting. “We are so freaking excited to come back to Asia! Last year was our first time and it was absolutely incredible. We love our fans over there and can’t wait to party again with everyone,”shares Dylan, excited to be coming back to this side of the world. Last year’s Manila gig, also powered by PULP Live World, was the biggest of the band’s entire 2018 Asia Tour, and fans can look forward to an even bigger show when they return. If you’ve been waiting for a slight break, this show surely could not have come at a better time.

Presented by PULP Live World and Skesh Entertainment, Tiny Moving Parts Live in Manila 2020 happens on February 9, 2020 at the SM City North EDSA Skydome. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale at all SM Tickets outlets nationwide and via www.smtickets.com beginning September 15, 2019. Tickets are priced at Php 1,500 plus ticketing charges.

Get your tickets early! Purchase your tickets from September 15 to October 15, 2019 for the pre-sale perk of getting to participate in a Meet and Greet/Signing Session with Tiny Moving Parts. Regular ticket selling will continue from October 16, 2019 until show day. Stay updated by following PULP Live World on Facebook and Twitter and by visiting www.pulp.ph for more information. • Ha Sung Woon, Kim Jae Hwan, And Momoland Spread Good Vibes With Their Charms And Performances In “Good Friends” In Manila

Ha Sung Woon, Kim Jae Hwan, And Momoland Spread Good Vibes With Their Charms And Performances In “Good Friends” In Manila

The feeling was all good as Ha Sung Woon, Kim Jae Hwan, and Momoland bring good energy at the Araneta Coliseum on October 5 for Good Friends in Manila.

The first Saturday of October 2019 saw hundreds of K-Pop fans flock The Big Dome to see their favorite Korean acts perform at the Philippine concert stage in the one-night only event that was presented by DnM Entertainment. HA:NUEL, WIN:D, Hotple, Wannables, and Merries from all over the Philippines (and probably, the world) gathered together and showed their passion and support for idols who also did not hold back in giving their 100-percent in every performance that night.

Ha Sung Woon kicked off the night with “Bird”, the title track of his solo debut extended play My Moment which was released in February this year and marked his first solo release following the end of Wanna One’s activities. The singer then wasted no time as he followed up “Bird” with “Riding” from his second EP BXXX and his collaboration with rapper Gaekho.

As if giving his fans to take deep breaths following the heated performances of “Bird” and “Riding”, Ha Sung Woon greeted his fans for the first time as a solo singer. He said it has been a long time since he last saw his fans in the Philippines as it has been more than a year since he stood on the concert stage with Wanna One’s concert in the country last year being the last.

The Hotshot member also recounted the vacation he had with his friends SHINee’s Taemin, EXO’s Kai, Hotshot’s Timoteo, and VIXX’s Ravi in Cebu. According to him, he enjoyed diving. He then shared his wish to go on a vacation in the Philippine once again — this time, to visit Tagaytay.

After the brief interview, Ha Sung Woon intensified the energy inside The Big Dome through his stages of “Tell Me I Love You” and “Blue Maze” from My Moment and BXXX, respectively. After a sweet “thank you” and “I love you” to fans and a promise to show good performances in the future, the singer ended his set with “Blue” and “What Are You Doing” (plus a big heart sign as he exits the stage).

Ha Sung Woon may have concluded his set, but for fans of Wanna One, the night is far from over as Kim Jae Hwan took the baton next and captivated everyone in the venue with his soothing voice as he sang “Begin Again” and “Blow Me” from his debut extended play Another. The night turned hotter when the singer showed off his dancing skills with performance of “Sorry Not Sorry”.

The night then just got better when Kim Jae Hwan serenaded Araneta Coliseum with “Black Sky”, his original soundtrack from the Korean drama Chief of Staff. But the singer was not done yet as he made it harder to breath for WIN:D and Wannables through the performances of “Neighbors Know My Name” and his finale song “Designer”.

And Wannables are truly in for a treat because Kim Jae Hwan revealed, although he returned to Manila as a solo artist this time, he enjoyed his visit in the Philippines because he was with fellow Wanna One member Ha Sung Woon! Please give us a moment to collect our feels. But not only that, WIN:D and Wannables! The singer also shared his plans to release a new album soon! However, for those who wish to see actor Kim Jae Hwan, you might have to wait a bit more as he said he wanted to focus on his music in the meantime.

Before ending his set, the singer relayed his hope for his fans not to forget the night and to keep supporting him in his music and future activities.

Following Kim Jae Hwan, the girls of Momoland brought their good energy on stage as they perform a total of ten songs that night! Philippine Merries were up for a memorable night as the girl group reciprocated the warmth and love of their fans with great energy and sweet treats.

Momoland welcomed fans to their land with “Welcome to Momoland”, earning collective cheers from the fans whom the girls thanked for their warm welcome every time they visit the country. The girls then got the crowd falling for their charms in “Falling U”, followed by “Bingo Game” and “Holiday”. The night became extra wonderful as the girl group put an EDM twist to “Wonderful Love”.

And the night will never be complete without the girls of Momoland performing their latest hit “I’m So Hot” and the hits that catapulted them to Hallyu fame “BAAM” and “Bboom Bboom”. But, aside from the superb performances they gave in Good Friends concert, the girls also gifted the Philippines a thoughtful gift by donating their performance fee that night to the needy children in Antipolo. Thank you, Momoland!

In addition, the girls also prepared a special gift for their Philippine Merries — a cover of Yeng Constantino’s “Salamat”! “Thank you, Philippines! You mean so much to us,” said the girls as they say goodbye to their fans following the end of the concert. Still, fans of the girl group can look forward to more of Momoland as the girls signed a contract with local television station ABS-CBN. In fact, Nancy is even set to star in a television series with James Reid titled Soulmate.

Two hours flew by so fast when you are having fun! Although we will miss Ha Sung Woon, Kim Jae Hwan, and Momoland, we got plenty of memories from Good Friends in Manila to remember and cherish as we wait for their return. Thank you to DnM Entertainment for having Philippine Concerts!

  • Silverstein To Celebrate Their 20th Anniversary In Explosive Concert In Manila Next Year

Silverstein To Celebrate Their 20th Anniversary In Explosive Concert In Manila Next Year

2020 is shaping up to be another massive year as PULP Live World continues to mark more momentous milestones. Redefining the Philippine concert experience for two decades now since its inception in 1999, PULP has every intention of lining up the coming year with the loudest shows, the most explosive experiences, and the fondest memories.

PULP kicks off 2020 with an old-school rock and roll show — Canadian emo/post-hardcore mainstays Silverstein are headed our way for their first Manila show in about eight years. SILVERSTEIN 20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY IN MANILA, with special guests DEFYING DECAY, takes place on January 12, 2020, Sunday, at the Skydome, SM City North EDSA.

Shane Told (vocals), Paul Koehler (drums), Josh Bradford (guitar), Billy Hamilton (bass), and Paul March Rousseau (guitar) are making their way to Manila with a milestone of their own to share with their Filipino fans. The band is set to play their iconic album Discovering The Waterfront in its entirety along with other hits from their arsenal of anthems throughout their 20-year run as a band.

Forming in Ontario, Canada at the turn of the millennium, Silverstein went on to become stalwarts of the emo/post-hardcore scene, being among the longest-reigning bands to be at the forefront of the genre. With nine studio albums to their name (a 10th release, Redux, being a recent independently-released compilation of re-recorded songs from the band’s first ten years), the upcoming 20 year celebration is made more meaningful by the many career-defining  moments that they’ve had as a band.

From the time Silverstein broke out into the music scene with their debut album When Broken Is Easily Fixed (“Bleeds No More”, “Giving Up”, “Red Light Pledge”) in the year 2003, the Juno-nominated band has proven to be one of the most consistent bands around, not just with how they have released an album every two years without fail, but also with the way they’ve outdone themselves album after album.

Now, with over a million records sold worldwide, Silverstein fans appreciate the band’s music more with every album release. While later albums like I Am Alive In Everything I Touch (2015) or Dead Reflection (2017) are generally as favored as the more classic Silverstein records, if not even more, one album that will perhaps be a special one is their second album Discovering The Waterfront (2005). With tracks like “My Heroine”, “Call It Karma”, and “Smile In Your Sleep”, this was an album that brought Silverstein more mainstream success during their early years as a band. To hear it live from front to back in 2020 would be quite the emotional experience as we celebrate 20 years of Silverstein in one very special and nostalgic show.

Warming up the stage for Silverstein as support act are Defying Decay from Bangkok. Touring to promote their latest release Metamorphosis, the Thai alternative metal act are also returning to the Philippines after supporting Motionless in White on their UK tour towards the end of 2019. They are also off to Japan in January to share the stage with Slaughter To Prevail, but not ’til after their Manila comeback with Silverstein.

Presented by PULP Live World, SILVERSTEIN 20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY IN MANILA, with special guests DEFYING DECAY, takes place on January 12, 2020, Sunday, at the SM North EDSA Skydome. Gates open at 6 p.m. We rock and roll by 8 p.m.

Tickets are on sale at all SM Tickets outlets nationwide and online at www.smtickets.com. Tickets are priced as follows: Php 3,500 for VIP with Meet & Greet and Php 2,500 for General Admission. Please note that ticketing service charges apply.

  • 6 Things We Learned About Park Seo Jun That Made Us Love Him More

6 Things We Learned About Park Seo Jun That Made Us Love Him More

When lifestyle and clothing brand BENCH announced the inclusion of South Korean actor Park Seo Jun in its lineup of #GlobalBENCHsetter this year, Korean drama fans all over the country were already keeping their fingers crossed that the leading lifestyle and clothing brand will bring to the archipelago the Divine Fury actor.

And when BENCH finally confirmed that, indeed, South Korea’s romantic-comedy king is finally making his way to the Philippines, his fans were more than ready to welcome him with warmth and passion for a memorable one-night-only fan meeting at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on September 29. It was a sold-out night — filled with laughter, maybe tears, and kilig vibes.

But before the dashing actor met his adoring fans, members of the local press were fortunate to meet him and know more about him as an actor, fashion icon, #GlobalBENCHsetter, and as a person through a press conference on September 28 at The Peninsula Manila. Clad in a BENCH button-down long sleeve and black pants and partnered with white sneakers, Park Seo Jun was a man of wisdom and humility as he talks about acting, fashion, the Philippines, working with BENCH, and more.

#1 He enjoyed the Philippines (and probably, he will find a way to come back!)

Starting off the interview with a shy introduction and greeting, the Divine Fury actor said he had a good time coming to the Philippines despite his tight schedule. He also mentioned meeting with BENCH’s founder Ben Chan and how he wished he could meet more people in the limited time he has in the country. Moreover, coming to the Philippines makes him think of possible opportunities to come back and do more work here.

#2 He never expected to have a huge fan base in the country (after a sold-out fun meet, Park Seo Jun definitely knows now!)

Despite his evident popularity all over the world, thanks to his charming portrayals of various characters including the well-loved Lee Young Joon from What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?, Park Seo Jun remained grounded. In fact, although he acknowledges the presence of his fan base in the Philippines, he never expected he had a big following until BENCH tapped him to be one of their brand ambassadors.

He is grateful, he said, to be part of the BENCH family that now also includes his fellow South Korean actor Ji Chang Wook, Meteor Garden‘s Dylan Wang, and To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before‘s Noah Centineo, among others. According to him, he appreciates how the lifestyle and clothing brand gives him the opportunity to meet more people overseas.

#3 When it comes to style, it’s BENCH for Park Seo Jun!

On his personal style, Park Seo Jun proudly said “BENCH”. He said the lifestyle and clothing brand, which offers trendy and stylish premium quality products, matches his personal style which goes for comfort first as he is always on a busy schedule and on-the-go. He also shared valuable fashion tips for everyone — be confident, know your body type, and try out various styles.

#4 Every character he plays has a bit of himself.

In case you did not know, Park Seo Jun joined the entertainment industry at the age of 22 through B.A.P’s Bang Yong Guk’s “I Remember” music video in 2011. The same year, he appeared in the film Perfect Game as Chil GooHe then starred in his first television series, Dream High 2, in 2012 as Si Woo.

The actor went on to star in various productions including Shut Up FamilyPots of Gold, and Witch’s Romance. And in 2015, he starred in his breakout roles in the dramas Kill Me, Heal Me and She Was Pretty as Oh Ri On and Ji Sung Joon, respectively. His rise to fame continued with Hwarang: The Poet Warrior YouthFight For My Way, and What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?.

During the press conference, he admitted that every character he plays has a bit of himself. He also shared that, among all the roles he played, he considered his role as Go Dong Man as the most challenging as he had to undergo training for the role as an MMA fighter.

But despite his growing international popularity, Park Seo Jun said he does not have concrete plans for a Hollywood debut. According to him, he thinks his English needs more refinement. However, he admitted that debuting in Hollywood is something on his mind.

#5 He wishes to be simply known as Park Seo Jun.

Although he feels honored to be dubbed as Asia’s Ryan Gosling as he is a fan of the actor, Park Seo Jun said he hopes not to be compared to others or be known as the Asian counterpart of anyone. He then promised to work harder and show better works in the future.

And speaking of “works”, the #GlobalBENCHsetter revealed that he is currently filming a new project where he is set to portray a character from his high school until he reaches 35 years old. He added that he is excited to play such as role and revealed his hope for the character to be a source of comfort to the young people.

#6 He relieves stress through bonding with his friends!

Every Park Seo Jun fans know how strong the bond of the actor with his co-stars, especially from the drama Hwarang. The actors hang out together and show their support for one another (Remember the coffee truck they sent to BTS’s concert in support of V?). According to the actor, he loves hanging out with his friends during his spare time. He considers bonding with his friends as a way to relieve stress.

READ MORE: Lee Seung Gi To Take PH Airens To A Voyage Of A Lifetime In His First Manila Fan Meeting

And today, October 2, marks exactly ten days before we get to meet the Triple Threat Entertainer and be part of his first ever fan meeting event in the country. We count down the days until D-Day with a list of seven dramas of Lee Seung Gi you should definitely binge-watch to prepare you for the overflowing feels on October 12. Please bear in mind that these dramas are listed in order of release (because, really, how can you easily rank all of Lee Seung Gi’s drama when they are all precious on their own?)

Ready, PH Airens? Let the countdown begin!

    #1 Brilliant Legacy (2009)

After making his official debut as an actor in 2006 through The Infamous Chil Sisters, Lee Seung Gi returned to the small screen with the 2009 television series Brilliant Legacy as Sunwoo Hwan. His portrayal of the character earned him an Excellence Award for an Actor in a Special Planning Drama at that year’s SBS Drama Awards. His chemistry with Han Hyo Joo also led them to take home the Best Couple Award in the same award ceremony.

With a total of 28 episodes, Brilliant Legacy will take you to a whirlwind of emotions as it touches on love, family, and oneself. If you are up for a drama with a tinge of romance and comedy, give this SBS drama a try because it did not become one of the top-rated Korean drama that year without a reason, right?

    #2 My Girlfriend Is A Nine-Tailed Fox

Probably one of the best romantic-comedy television series in South Korea (writer’s opinion), My Girlfriend Is A Nine-Tailed Fox introduced us to Lee Seung Gi’s Cha Dae Woong, an aspiring actor. Dae Woong was cute, funny, and sweet — a portrayal that gave Lee Seung Gi another Excellene Award for an Actor in a Drama Special at the SBS Drama Awards in 2010. His team up with Shin Min Ah, who played the adorable gumiho, was also that year’s Best Couple Awardee.

If you are not up for a bit of makjang in Brillian Legacy, the laughs and kilig this drama will give you is your next bet for a feel-good watch. Gotta warn you though: prepare a box of tissue as you reach the latter episodes.

Another plus points for this drama for its sweet original soundtrack including Lee Seung Gi’s “Losing My Mind” which won a Bonsang and the Best OST Song at MelOn Music Awards.

    #3 The King 2 Hearts

The King 2 Hearts is one of the best Lee Seung Gi drama and his character as Prince Lee Jae Ha will always be a favorite among all the characters he got to play in his 15 years in the industry. The MBC television series, which aired in 2012, put together a brilliant set of actors — Lee Seung Gi, Ha Ji Won, Jo Jung Suk, Yoon Je Moon, and Lee Yoon Ji — together and brought to life a story that was intriguing, captivating, and tear-jerking.

If you are up for a unique storyline that brings you to an alternate reality where South Korea is under a constitutional monarchy and a joint military collaboration between the two Koreas exist, it’s time to ready yourself for an all-nighter because once you started it, you can’t stop it. It won the Silver Bird Prize for an Outstanding Korean Drama at the 7th Seoul International Awards and earned its cast members various awards and nominations from different award-giving bodies.

    #4 Gu Family Book

Before Vagabond happened, Lee Seung Gi and Suzy worked together in the 2013 MBC drama Gu Family Book. The drama aired from April 8 to June 25, 2013, closing its run with its highest viewership rating at 19.5 percent based on AGB Nielsen’s data.

His portrayal of the half-human, half-gumiho Choi Kang Chi earned him the Top Excellence Award for an Actor in a Mini Series at the MBC Drama Awards. He also took home a Popularity Award and a Best Couple Award with Suzy in the same award ceremony.

If you want a drama with a bit of historical flare, partnered with action and fantasy and sweetened by romance, check out Gu Family Book and fall in love with Choi Kang Chi.

    #5 You’re All Surrounded

Before starting his mandatory military service, Lee Seung Gi played Eun Dae Gu/Kim Ji Yong in You’re All Surrounded. It has a total of 20 episodes which aired from May 7 to July 17, 2014. Through this drama, Lee Seung Gi boasted outstanding chemistry with his co-stars especially with Cha Seung Won who played Seo Pan Seok.

Although Lee Seung Gi did not bring home awards for his role in the television series, You’re All Surrounded is a good watch for those who are into crime and investigative stories. Plus, you will love the relationship of the Violent Crimes team.

    #6 A Korean Odyssey

Fresh from his military discharge, Lee Seung Gi immediately went back to work and joined the cast of A Korean Odyssey which reunited him with the Hong Sisters who wrote My Girlfriend Is A Nine-Tailed Fox and with Cha Seung Won whom he has worked with in You’re All Surrounded.

A Korean Odyssey presented a modern spin-off of Journey to the West, a Chinese classic novel (FYI, Lee Seung Gi was part of the variety show New Journey to the West which also took inspiration from the story). The television series is a fun-watch thanks to the sweet banters of Lee Seung Gi and Cha Seung Won.

    #7 Vagabond

If you love the chemistry of Lee Seung Gi and Suzy, lucky you! The two reunited, after five years, through Vagabond which premiered on September 20. It’s only on its fourth episode, so you can catch up on the happenings.

While Gu Family Book gave us fantasy, romance, and drama, Vagabond is more action-packed with the right amount of thrill and romance. If you are into spy stories, Vagabond says hi!

  • 5 Memories From That “One Summer Night” When Jung Hae In Gave Us So Much Love

5 Memories From That “One Summer Night” When Jung Hae In Gave Us So Much Love

Unlike most idols and actors, Jung Hae In started his acting career late. He has already completed his military service and finished his tertiary education when he signed under FNC Entertainment, home to FTISLAND, CNBLUE, Lee Dong Gun, and Yoo Jae Suk.

For a fast-paced and competitive industry such as the Korean entertainment industry, debuting at the age of 26 will require double the hard work to make his solid mark. And Jung Hae In did just that. He started off with supporting roles in the television series Bride of the Century and The Three Musketeers, headlined by his labelmates Lee Hong Ki and Jung Yong Hwa, respectively.

From 2014 to 2016, he went on to appear in supporting roles and make cameo appearances including as Kim Go Eun’s first love in Guardian: The Lonely and Great God. Little by little, people are coming to know the name Jung Hae In. And in 2017, his team up with Lee Jong Suk and Bae Suzy for While You Were Sleeping became the turning point — that big break he has been cultivating in the past years.

The name Jung Hae In became a household name. His filmography continues to list outstanding works including dramas Prison Playbook, Something in the Rain, and One Spring Night, as well as, films The King’s Case Note, Conspiracy: Age of Rebellion, and Heung-boo: The Revolutionist, and his reunion project with Kim Go Eun titled Tune In For Love, Soon, it will include the romance drama Half of a Half with Chae Soo Bin.

And if there’s one more proof of the immense popularity and Hallyu star status of Jung Hae In, it was last Saturday, September 28, at the New Frontier Theater, where fans from all over the Philippines (and the world) gathered to spend ONE SUMMER NIGHT with the dashing and ever-charming actor.

Presented by Wilbros Live and FNC Entertainment, the One Spring Night actor returned to the archipelago to once again meet his Filipino fans and captivate them with his charms, values, and wisdom through the JUNG HAE IN FAN MEETING TOUR 2019 – ONE SUMMER NIGHT.

Reminisce the night with us as we list down five (of the many) memories from that night that we will forever remember and treasure deeply.

#1 Sweet Serenades from the Man of the Hour

Jung Hae In kicked off and ended the night with sweet and heartwarming serenades that got all fans falling over and over again with him. He also captivated everyone with his soothing voice through his rendition of “When The Wind Blows”. In addition, he generously granted fans’ request for a “sample” of a song by Paul Kim whom the actor revealed he likes and listens to.

Although we did not get to personally hear him sing or dance to the boy group’s song, the actor also named popular boy group BTS as one of his favorite artists during the press conference held at Marco Polo Hotel on September 27. According to him, he personally owns an album of the septet and considers their music as a “healing” to him.

    Jung Hae In

#2 When He Gamely Drank Calamansi Juice

After welcoming fans to the event with his song, it was time for the Philippines to welcome Jung Hae In to its shore by giving a local taste of the country — calamansi juice. The actor took a short sip of the drink, presented to him by that night’s host Sam Oh. Nodding in approval, he then drank the juice in one shot, clearly loving the mix of sweetness and sourness of the drink.

Fans watched in astonishment and were obviously impressed by the actor’s willingness — their proud smiles gave it all, to be honest. Aside from giving his approval to the calamansi juice, the actor also admitted wanting to explore the Philippines and have a leisure trip in the country in the future.

By the way, he also promised to come back! In fact, he wants to come back to the country every year and visit Cebu, La Union, and Boracay.

#3 All The Things He Generously Shared About Himself

The fan meeting was a great avenue for fans to get to know Jung Hae In and get an idea of what his personality is like. The actor did not shy away from the questions thrown at him and gamely answered them.

    • Jung Hae In loves beer. He revealed he had a lot of San Miguel beer the night before his fan meeting. He also loves to partner it with chicken (although he contemplated a lot between chicken and pizza).
    • He asks for receipts after finishing a transaction. Although he believes that the society is going paperless soon with the advancement of technology, he seems to lean towards the traditional accounting of keeping receipts.
    • Personal style? Comfortable clothing.
    • He endures his late night hunger, but will satisfy his craving the next day.
    • Soft drinks is essential for fried chicken.
    • He buys apparels first before trying them on.

#4 The Heartfelt Words He Gave

In the super adorable and interesting segment of the fan meeting called “Pharmacist For Your Soul”, Jung Hae In brought Yoo Ji Ho, his character in One Spring Night, to New Frontier Theater. Complete with white coat, the actor took on the role of a pharmacist for his fans who sent in their concerns.

Pharmacist Jung offered prescription and wise advice to the fans depending on their concern.

For the fan who felt lost and struggling with her future, the actor said, “Your studies are not always the answer. Explore. Try many things you enjoy and through that process, you will find something you are good at. Everyone goes through the same thing, so don’t worry. Fighting!” He then gave her a journal to help her organize her thoughts and as an avenue to write down her feelings.

To the fan who flew all the way from Indonesia and revealed that she broke up with her boyfriend recently, Jung Hae In offered a wonderful advice — love yourself. Although he appreciates the love of the fan, he relayed his wish for her to put herself first among anyone else. “I hope you come to a place where you love yourself more than anyone else,” he said. He “prescribed” her with a magnifying glass.

Lastly, a mother who struggles in waking her son up for school and worries about his future received a mug as a “prescription” from Jung Hae In. He also said, “I hope you will remember that, at the end of the day, what is important is your son’s happiness. Support him in whatever he wants to do, so he will be encouraged.”

#5 Those One-For-The-Books Moments With His Fans

The JUNG HAE IN FAN MEETING TOUR 2019 – ONE SUMMER NIGHT was indeed a night full of memorable moments for the fans of the actor as he did not let the night slip away without making sure everyone got smiles on their faces and memories to bring home with them.

He was generous, always accommodating, and sweet. His effort for his fans clearly resonated that night. In fact, he was hands-on in the preparation for the fan meeting and thought of various ways to make it a night to remember.

Jung Hae In took selfies, hug fans warmly, signed posters, drew T-shirts, and gamely said yes to taking polaroid photos, recording a video greeting, and more. He set aside his tiredness and put on a smile on his face during the hi-touch session with all the fan meeting attendees.

And so the list is done. These are the memories that got us smiling wide as we look back on the love sent from a summer night by Jung Hae In.
