  • JL Gaspar’s “Alon” Is Theme Song for GMA’s Tagalized Version of The Lovely Runner

JL Gaspar’s “Alon” Is Theme Song for GMA’s Tagalized Version of The Lovely Runner

Rising solo artist JL Gaspar, formerly a member of P-Pop group PLUUS, has made a powerful mark with the release of his debut single “Alon” on June 6, 2025. The track, which reflects JL’s emotional transition from his boy band days to a new chapter in global K-Pop, has now been officially announced as the theme song for GMA Network’s Tagalized version of the hit K-Drama The Lovely Runner.

“Alon”, a stirring pop ballad, beautifully complements the drama’s themes of love, fate, and second chances. The show—starring Kim Hye-yoon and Byeon Woo-seok—has captivated audiences worldwide with its thrilling storyline, poignant romance, and layered performances. In the Tagalized version premiering on GMA this June 23 at 5:10 PM, JL’s voice will underscore some of the series’ most emotional moments.

The choice of “Alon” is especially fitting. Water is a frequently present element in the show. For example, Byeon Woo-seok’s character Sandro (Ryu Sun-Jae in the Korean original) is an ex-swimmer so there are scenes in the swimming pool. The couple also go to the beach to have a romantic getaway during their high school summer. More than this, the back-and-forth between the lead characters mirrors the turmoil of love portrayed in the song.

JL’s solo release comes on the heels of his victory in the Korean survival show Universe League, where he earned a coveted spot in an upcoming global K-Pop group. In addition, he is also the newly named honorary ambassador for I Like It Korea Milk, and recently met fans at Robinsons Magnolia last June 14.

Both the song “Alon” and its official music video, now available on Universal Records’ YouTube channel, have been warmly received by fans. The track is also streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and all major platforms.

With accolades pouring in for The Lovely Runner—including 4 out of 5 stars from The Straits Times and a spot on Time Magazine’s Best K-Dramas of 2024—its Philippine adaptation is expected to resonate strongly with local fans. The drama’s male lead, Byeon Woo-seok is also scheduled to visit Manila for a fan meeting on July 19.

JL Gaspar’s “Alon” is more than just a song—it’s the emotional heartbeat of a series that has captured hearts across Asia.

Whitney Houston’s biopic OST features star-studded remixes and originals

The 35-song compilation also contains rare, reimagined versions of ‘Don’t Cry For Me”!

Ahead of the January 8 theatrical release of TriStar Pictures’ Whitney Houston biopic, Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody, RCA Records and Sony Music Entertainment have dropped the official 35-song soundtrack, serving as a musical memoir of the cinematic voyage. Listen here.

“This totally unique soundtrack album brings many of Whitney’s classics into 2023 and beyond. Contemporary, current, and often scorching, if you love Whitney’s music, you must own this album,” says Clive Davis.

Featuring music spanning two decades of Houston’s legendary career, I Wanna Dance With Somebody (The Movie: Whitney New, Classic and Reimagined) includes nearly two hours of remixed and original versions of Whitney Houston songs, with special guest features by BeBe Winans, Clean Bandit, Kygo, Lucky Daye, SG Lewis, Samaria, Jax Jones, Leikeli47, P2J, Oxlade, Pheelz, and more.

“We are thrilled to be releasing the amazing 35-song soundtrack to the Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody film with RCA Records,” says Pat Houston, President of The Estate of Whitney E. Houston. “We think the fans will be excited to hear some incredible music they know and love, as well as some new never-before-released tracks, including ‘Far Enough’ and the incredible ‘Don’t Cry For Me,’ which ends the film.”

Just recently, RCA announced the original soundtrack would include three rare versions of “Don’t Cry For Me” – a never-before-released a cappella, a full-length film version by Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, and a reimagined recording by record producer Sam Feldt. Houston’s iconic performance of the song was made famous after a striking rendition at the 1994 Aids Project Los Angeles (APLA) benefit concert – a moment that would stun the audience and go down in history as one of the most memorable performances of Whitney Houston’s illustrious career.

“I am extremely honored and proud to have been asked to reimagine a track made by all-time legend Whitney Houston,” says Sam Feldt. “Being a key part of this unique movie’s soundtrack by turning this classic into a 2023-ready dance-pop banger is an absolute pleasure, and I can’t wait for the fans to hear it.”

“I’m beyond excited for the fans and the next generation of fans to experience the greatness of Whitney and what her voice meant and still means to all of us,” says Rodney Jerkins.

One of the most iconic and influential singers in music history, Houston sold over 200 million albums throughout her legendary career, to become one of the best-selling artists of the 20th century. Her self-titled debut album, Whitney Houston was one of the most acclaimed albums in modern recording history, spending 14 weeks at #1 on Billboard Top 200 and selling more than twenty-five million copies worldwide. The streak continued when Houston became the first female artist to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 with her sophomore album, Whitney.

Together, the two albums spurred seven #1 singles with a catalog of hits that include, “Saving All My Love for You,” “How Will I Know,” “Greatest Love of All,” “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me),” “Didn’t We Almost Have It All,” “So Emotional,” and “Where Do Broken Hearts Go.” A run that would lead Houston to become the only Black artist to earn three RIAA Diamond-certified albums.

  • Arista Records Presents: The Bullet Train Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Arista Records Presents: The Bullet Train Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Today, Arista Records released the Bullet Train Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to Sony Pictures’ original action thriller Bullet Train, which opens August 10 in  Philippine cinemas nationwide. Listen to the Bullet Train Original Motion Picture Soundtrack HERE.

The 14-track collection features original music from composer Dominic Lewis (The King’s ManThe Man in the High CastlePeter Rabbit) and new unreleased music recorded exclusively for the film, spanning alternative, pop, Latin, and Japanese stylings.International phenomenon Avu-chan (Queen Bee) contributes a slick and sizzling cover of the Bee Gees’ classic “Stayin’ Alive” in Japanese, while Engelbert Humperdinck ignites “I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles. Critically acclaimed alt-pop trailblazer UPSAHL serves up the original “My Time To Shine” for the Soundtrack. In a menacing croon over hypnotic bass, she promises, “You want to start to fight, I’ll make a grown man cry.” The Soundtrack taps into the energy of the film and maintains its bold breakneck pace sonically.

Composer Dominic Lewis states: “This experience has been a blast!!! Bullet Train is a creative mecca that as artists we crave and strive for. My journey started with writing “La Despedida” thinking this would be perfect for Alejandro Sanz. Never in a million years did I expect he would say yes and that I would have such an incredible experience with him and the song. And it just kept happening. One just doesn’t imagine ever getting to work with such legends like Englebert and Tamio. Avu couldn’t have been more perfect for “Stayin’ Alive” and UPSAHL brought her magic to my original “Prince Suite” resulting in “My Time To Shine”.

Blank canvas can often be accompanied with the instruction of which paints to use and where to put them. Not with David. “Swing for the fences”… “Be bold”. Without David’s trust, vision and a collaborative experience that’s second to none, the stars wouldn’t have aligned resulting in this gonzo, badass soundtrack. I only hope audiences have as much fun listening to it as we did making it.”

The animated lyric video for UPSAHL’s “My Time To Shine” is out now – watch it HERE. Be on the lookout for additional animated music videos for “Stayin’ Alive, Miki Asakura’s “Holding Out For A Hero (Dance Version), and Alejandro Sanz’s “La Despedida.

In Bullet Train, Brad Pitt stars as Ladybug, an unlucky assassin determined to do his job peacefully after one too many gigs had gone off the rails. Fate, however, may have other plans, as Ladybug’s latest mission puts him on a collision course with lethal adversaries from around the globe—all with connected, yet conflicting, objectives—on the world’s fastest train. The end of the line is just the beginning in this non-stop thrill-ride through modern-day Japan from David Leitch, the director of Deadpool 2. The screenplay is by Zak Olkewicz, based on the book by Kotaro Isaka.

    About Bridgerton

From Shondaland and Creator Chris Van Dusen, the second season of Bridgerton follows Lord Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), the eldest Bridgerton sibling and Viscount, as he sets out to find a suitable wife. But in doing so, Kate and Anthony’s verbal sparring matches only bring them closer together, complicating matters on both sides. Across Grosvenor Square, the Featheringtons must welcome the newest heir to their estate while Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) continues to navigate the ton whilst keeping her deepest secret from the people closest to her.

BURBANK, Calif – Nov. 29, 2021 – Hollywood Records is pleased to announce the release dates for the soundtrack from the highly-anticipated film “West Side Story,” directed by Academy Award® winner Steven Spielberg, from a screenplay by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award® winner Tony Kushner. “West Side Story” tells the classic tale of fierce rivalries and young love in 1957 New York City. From 20th Century Studios, The Walt Disney Company will release “West Side Story” in U.S. theaters on December 10, 2021.

“West Side Story” has been adapted for the screen from the original 1957 Broadway show. Spielberg said, “I dedicated this movie to my father, but it was my mother’s love of music, combined with my insatiable appetite to understand everything about movie making, that led me to start collecting motion picture soundtrack albums when I was young. I loved the ‘West Side Story’ cast album from the first time I listened to it. As a kid I could sing every one of its songs by heart – and I did sing them, until I wore out the patience of my entire family. The score feels like it’s always been part of me, and I believe that this is the greatest music ever written for musical theater. My sincere hope is that young people out there find this album and fall in love with it as hard as I did.”

Bringing together the best of both Broadway and Hollywood, the film’s creative team includes Kushner, who also served as an executive producer; Tony Award® winner Justin Peck, who choreographed the musical numbers in the film; renowned Los Angeles Philharmonic conductor and GRAMMY® Award winner Gustavo Dudamel, who helmed the recording of the iconic score; Academy Award®–nominated composer and conductor David Newman (“Anastasia”), who arranged the score; Tony Award®–winning composer Jeanine Tesori (“Fun Home,” “Thoroughly Modern Millie”), who supervised the cast on vocals; and GRAMMY®-nominated music supervisor Matt Sullivan (“Beauty and the Beast,” “Chicago,” “Hairspray”), who serves as executive music producer.
