    A nostalgic yet modern anthem, “Young & Dumb” first finds Avril reflective on verse one as she looks back on the carefree early days of her career and ‘livin’ like a rockstar’ before Simple Plan jumps ‘20 years later’ to present day in verse two and details how ‘somehow it feels like nothing’s changed.’ The video echoes the song’s sentiment and celebrates life on the road as it cuts between scenes of Avril and Simple Plan ‘trashin’ hotel rooms,’ a punk performance in an empty pool, and partying on the tour bus.

    Avril announced the song Monday with a heartfelt social media post, reflecting on its meaning and origins, and dedicating it to fans: “This is such a full-circle moment. Not only did Simple Plan tour with me last year on the Greatest Hits Tour, but we also toured together in 2003 on my very first arena tour. We were so young – just a bunch of kids from small towns in Canada who had just released our debut albums. We connected instantly and became friends. A few months ago, I called them up, and we got together in the studio to write ‘Young & Dumb.’ We wanted to capture that special time in our lives – when everything was new, and we were chasing our dreams. This song is for our fans. It’s a tribute to the past, but also a celebration of the present. In our hearts, we’re still those same kids, and our love for music hasn’t changed. It’s about friendship, nostalgia, and the way music has kept us connected through the years. I can’t wait to share it with you live this summer.”

    The Divine Diva Zsa Zsa Padilla marks her 42nd anniversary in the music industry with a new album called “‘Pag Tinadhana,” which will be out on Friday (May 16), and her “Through The Years” concert happening on Saturday (May 17) at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater.

    “You will hear a lot of my hit songs. Para maging kakaiba siya, may mga rearrangements na mangyayari. I’m also introducing to my audience the new sound,” the Kapamilya singer teased, excited to perform tracks from her latest album in her concert. 

    Her new album has eight tracks, including her previously released songs “’Pag Tinadhana,” “Kabiyak,” and “Never Be Alone.”

    A Mother’s Day offering, “Never Be Alone” is her collaboration with one of her daughters, Zia Quizon, about a mom who misses her bond with her children when they were younger yet appreciates the strong connection they have now that they are grown.

    “I want something that talks about empty nesting, kasi that’s what I am going through right now,” the “ASAP” mainstay shared. 

    Other songs in the album are “Hinihiling,” “Memoryado,” “Bakit Ba,” Ingat Ka, Mahal Kita,” and “‘Pag Tinadhana” remix.

    Ben&Ben kicks off global album tour with Cebu show!

    The Philippines’ most popular band is bringing their music to different parts of the country, the United States, and Singapore starting this month 

    MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Philippines’ biggest folk-pop band Ben&Ben will be bringing their music to Cebu, Bacolod, and Davao for the Philippine leg of their The Traveller Across Dimensions World Tour. Overseas performances will also take place in Singapore and different parts of the United States later in the year.

    Tickets are already available for the May 24 show at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino, with announcements for the June 8 show at the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod and the June 22 performance at the SMX Convention Center in Davao to come in the next few weeks.

    Meanwhile, tickets for the Singapore show at the Arena@Expo on December 14, as well as those for the performance at the Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln, California on July 12 are also available for purchase. Additional show dates and venues will be announced as they become final.

    For the tour, the nine-piece band will perform tracks from their third studio album, mixed with some of their past hits. The Traveller Across Dimensions album was released on November 29, 2024, and has produced hits like Could Be Something and Tomorrow with You.

    The concept album follows the story of Liwanag, the Traveller, as she journeys through three Dimensions: Light, depicting innocence; Energy, depicting struggle; and Feel, depicting maturity. She writes 12 songs along the way, which relate her experiences in each of the Dimensions.

    The songs reflect the various experiences of the band members over the past several years and showcase their growth as people, as songwriters, and as musicians. While their signature indie folk sound remains, the group dishes out city pop and electric beats not present in their previous songs. As the group evolves, so do their stories and their music.

    “We are excited to bring the songs from The Traveller Across Dimensions to various stages all over the Philippines and the world.     Take us back to 2009—when Sundays meant rest for most of us, tuning in to ASAP, waiting for Sesionistas, a segment that brought us closer to our favorite songs, from covers to originals, back then. The reunion concert, held at The Theatre at Solaire in Parañaque City, was a heartfelt and nostalgic celebration of music, friendship, and the enduring legacy of the ASAP Sessionistas. The group, featuring Ice Seguerra, Nyoy Volante, Sitti, Duncan Ramos, Princess Velasco, Kean Cipriano, and Juris, delivered a powerful and heartfelt performance that resonated deeply with fans since 2009. This is a concert that Filipinos should experience.

    The concert opened with a high-energy Queen medley, including Bohemian Rhapsody, Somebody to Love, and We Are the Champions, setting a vibrant tone. The setlist featured timeless OPM classics and iconic Sessionistas original hits, like “Tattooed on my mind,” “A little bit,” “Para lang sa’yo,” “Rainbow,” “Someday,” “Magbalik,” and Princess’s take on “Bad Romance.”

    Remember when Sesionistas read letters from their fans requesting a song during their segment at ASAP? They had it on stage with The Dear Sessionistas. Ice and Nyoy sang Survivor’s “The Search Is Over” for a letter sender who met her “the one,” ending her long search. Duncan and Sitti sang Toto’s “I’ll Be Over You” for a fan who was left behind, while Princess, Juris, and Kian sang “She Will Be Loved” for a fan who penned a beautiful kind of love story. This interactive element highlighted their connection with fans, recreating the intimacy of their ASAP performances.

    The group also featured unreleased original songs, reflecting their individual journeys and artistic evolution. Showcasing their growth and versatility, they performed “Lihim,” “The Right One,” “Hayaan,” “I Wasn’t Ready Yet,” “Titingin Tingin,” “Malinaw na Malabo,” “The End of the Line,” and “Shelter of the Broken.”

    The Out of the Box segment surprised audiences with genre-bending performances, showcasing the group’s versatility as they experimented with styles outside their comfort zones, performing Blackstreet’s “No Diggity,” Nicki Minaj’s super pop “Super Bass,” and Eminem’s “Lose Yourself,” which garnered applause from the audience. Not only did they do this unexpected genre, but they also paid homage to P-Pop by performing SB19’s “Gento” and BINI’s “Salamin.”

    From highs of genre-bending segments to emotional highlights—when Juris went on piano to perform “Di Lang Ikaw,” Juris paved the way for emotionally charged ballads that explore internal struggle, heartbreak, and the desire for freedom, even while acknowledging the shared pain and complexities of being in a relationship. She then welcomed Ice, where he performed his classic “Pagdating ng Panahon.” The technical issue in the middle of the song made it more beautiful, as the audience could be heard singing with him in A cappella. It was momentous, heartfelt, and just so beautiful.

    The Sessionistas at Home offered an intimate glimpse into their lives as parents, partners, and friends, with family montages and heartfelt dedications that added a personal touch. With Mom Sitti, Juris performed Sarah McLachlan’s “Little B,” while the dad [Nyoy, Kean, Ice, and Duncan] performed Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.”

     The concert was as much a celebration of the Sessionistas’ friendship as it was their music. Their banter, humor, and camaraderie shone through, making the audience feel like they were watching a group of lifelong friends. Sitti noted that the concert felt like a “reunion with everyone in the audience,” emphasizing the shared nostalgia. Nyoy Volante praised Kean Cipriano’s professionalism, revealing that Kean performed despite losing his mother days before the April 4 show, a testament to the group’s dedication. Ice Seguerra, who also produced the concert alongside Liza Diño-Seguerra, emphasized the group’s bond, stating, “More than the singing, it’s the friendship na nabuo namin on and off stage.”

     The group’s energy captivated the audience, inspiring many to sing along, cry, or smile, resulting in a reciprocal emotional exchange. Produced by Fire and Ice Entertainment and Fire and Ice LIVE, the concert was well-organized, with creative direction by Liza Diño-Seguerra. The Theatre at Solaire provided a fitting venue for the group’s grand reunion. We felt that the whole nation needed to see the growth, bond, and love we saw through their well-crafted, tailor-fit, perfectly timed performances that truly tugged at the heartstrings. They capped the night with performances of “For Good,” “Fix You,” “Ain’t No Mountain,” and an encore of The Rembrandts “I’ll Be There for You” from the hit series F.R.I.E.N.D.S.!

    Love, Sessionistas was a triumphant reunion that lived up to its billing as a “love letter to fans.” The concert blended nostalgia with fresh elements, balancing iconic OPM hits, personal stories, and new music to create an unforgettable experience. Their chemistry, honed over years of friendship, made the show feel like an intimate gathering despite the grand venue. Fans left with a renewed appreciation for the group’s legacy and their ability to evoke joy, tears, and connection through music. For those who attended, it was indeed like coming home.

    The National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) League is back at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena for its weeklong 2025 National Finals, happening from March 31 to April 6. With the preliminary phases set to begin in April, the tournament will conclude with the All-Star games and Finals, where new Division 1 and Division 2 Champions will be crowned.

    Grassroots basketball program for young talents

    Founded in 2007, the NBTC program was initially formulated by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas Inc. (SBP) as a training program for homegrown talents preparing for the 2010 Youth Olympics. Over time, the league evolved to support and develop young players from rural areas, scouting talent from the best high school teams nationwide. To further amplify its mission, the program has expanded to include international teams composed of Filipino and foreign players. 

    A key component of the program is the Coaches’ Convention, conducted in various provinces, where renowned coaches serve as speakers to share their expertise and mentor fellow trainers.

    The National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) National Finals welcome dinner for the 32 participating teams is held at SM Mall of Asia Music Hall on March 30.

    NBTC National Finals return to SM MOA Arena

    The full schedule and competition details for the National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) National Finals.

    To kick off April, SM MOA Arena welcomes 32 aspiring teams for the NBTC National Finals. The teams will compete in the preliminary phases from March 31 to April 4, leading up to the recognition of the Fearless 4 teams on April 5. 

    Saturday’s matches will feature the first set of Manila Live Girls and Boys tournaments, as well as the highly anticipated All-Star games. The weeklong event concludes on April 6 with the crowning of this year’s Division 1 and Division 2 champions.

    “Harana-Pop Heartthrob” Dylan Menor Releases Debut Single “Maghapon”

    Most people know Dylan Menor as an actor, having appeared in series such as Ang Himala ni Niño, and Almost Paradise, plus the MMFF entry The Kingdom. And now he is showing everyone just how multi-talented he is, with the release of “Maghapon,” his debut single under Universal Records.

    The catchy “Maghapon,” which was written by Alvin Serito of the band SunKissed Lola, is a serenade track with a slow and soothing progression, capturing the quiet beauty of companionship. Through the magic of unspoken connection, the song tells the story of someone drawn to another’s presence—enchanted by their eyes and longing to stay close. With a gentle melody and intimate lyrics, it expresses the subtle thrill of admiration and the warmth of simply being together: “Kahit saan mo gusto, ‘di mo kailangang magsalita. Kahit saan mo gusto, ang mahalaga ay nariyan ka.”

    Dylan — who is managed by Stages Talents and an endorser for the MVP Group of Companies, Penshoppe, and Blackwater — has been teasing his fans by performing parts of the song in events like his “A Date with the Dreamers” fan meet last February 16, and more recently on an episode of Wil to Win.

    His fans can finally rejoice now that “Maghapon” is already available on all major streaming platforms. “I’m very excited now that my first-ever single is out,” Dylan says. “I’m very proud of this song, and I hope a lot of people will be able to relate to it kasi nakaka-kilig and nakaka-in love talaga siya, from the melody to the lyrics.”

    This is definitely just the start for the “Harana Pop Heartthrob” of Universal Records. There will be a lot of YouTube videos and short-form content on socials to support the single, TV and radio guestings, plus on-ground activities scheduled for the press and his fans to get to know him more as a singer and recording artist.
