INDIE POP TRAILBLAZERS PREP DROP BLISSFUL FUNK FLOOR FILLER “DO WHAT YOU GOTTA”

FEATURING TAIWANESE ICONS SUNSET ROLLERCOASTER AHEAD OF FORTHCOMING EP ‘ONE DAY IN THE SUN’ DUE OUT MARCH 20TH!

January 29th, 2026 โ€” Philippines โ€” English four-piece indie-pop band PREP return with their new single “Do What You Gotta”, featuring Taiwanese megastars Sunset Rollercoaster. The track unfolds as a warm, blissful funk floorfiller, all about new beginnings, and trying to find love wherever you can. Smooth, understated, and emotionally grounded, the collaboration brings together two bands whose shared sensibility blurs borders and genre lines. Fans can stream the new single HERE.

The single arrives as the lead release from PREP’s upcoming EP, ‘One Day in the Sun’, slated for March 20th. The EP will be available on vinyl, with pre-orders now open via the band’s official merch store HERE. The release marks a significant moment for a band whose global footprint is increasingly defined by their devoted Southeast Asian audience. PREP’s influence runs deep across Southeast Asia, where their blend of indie pop, soul, and retro influences has resonated powerfully with fans across the region. Partnering with Sunset Rollercoaster, one of Taiwan’s most influential modern bands, further solidifies PREP’s connection to Asia and reflects a shared musical language that transcends borders.

PREP โ€“ย “Do What You Gotta”ย (feat. Sunset Rollercoaster) [Official Visualizer]

Speaking on the collaboration, vocalist Tom shares: “It feels like this Sunset Rollercoaster collaboration has been a long time coming. We almost finished a song with them in London a couple of years ago; then Kuo performed with us in Taipei last year, and we went back to their studio afterwards for a long night of playing and talking about all sorts of ideas. But as soon as we had this song for the EP, we knew it was the one. At some point this year, we need to be on a stage playing this song with all of them.

Llywelyn adds: “Sunset Rollercoaster are perhaps the one other band in the world closest to us… They’re part of this scene that’s based in Taiwan, Japan and Korea โ€“ bands doing stuff that’s in our sort of world. It’s a scene that doesn’t really exist in the same way in Europe, and a lot of it is based around City Pop, which is Japanese pop music from the ’80s. That, as much as ’70s American acts, is where we’ve naturally gone to as a band.

“Do What You Gotta” arrives at a high point in PREP’s global momentum. The band has amassed over380 million streams across DSPs and was recently ranked among the top 25 pop soul artists in the world (Chartmetric). They have previously completed sold-out tours across Southeast Asia, including a successful 2024 Asia run, during which they played shows in Bangkok, Taipei, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, and Manila. In 2023, they performed at VERY Festival in Thailand, followed by a series of headline shows in China, before closing out the run at Clockenflap in Hong Kong. Southeast Asia remains a key stronghold for the band, where audience growth continues to outpace other regions. On the digital front, their viral cover of Harry Styles’ “As It Was” has garnered over 5.8 billion views and 1.6 million TikTok creations, underscoring their massive online reach. PREP’s top global audiences rank #1 Indonesia, #2 Thailand, #3 Philippines, #5 Malaysia, and #7 Taiwan, with top listener cities including Bangkok, Jakarta, Quezon City, Taipei, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur, solidifying the band as one of the region’s most beloved indie-pop acts.

This new single showcases a cross-regional collaboration that reflects not just where PREP are from, but where their music truly lives, leading into their highly anticipated forthcoming EPโ€”a record that fuses jazz, West Coast soul, 1980s studio polish, Japanese City Pop, and a sound that is unmistakably contemporary.

  • Ben&Ben releases โ€œDuyanโ€ music video starring Khalil Ramos and Gabbi Garcia

Ben&Ben releases โ€œDuyanโ€ music video starring Khalil Ramos and Gabbi Garcia

The song completes the โ€˜Mahiwaga trilogy,โ€™ which includes hit songs โ€œPagtinginโ€ and โ€œAraw-Arawโ€

Ben&Ben continued to solidify their status as one of the most important voices of OPM in 2025. The acclaimed band made history as the first Filipino act to surpass three billion streams on global streaming platform Spotify, while also earning major wins at the 28th Awit Awards, including Album of the Year for their third studio album, The Traveller Across Dimensionsand Best Performance by a Group Recording Artist for “Triumph.โ€ As the year drew to a close, Ben&Benโ€™s music found itself intertwined with national consciousness when โ€œKapangyarihan,โ€ their collaboration with SB19, emerged as a modern anthem in protest spaces, echoing public anger amid allegations of corruption surrounding flood control and infrastructure projects.

Now, as they turn the page to a brand-new year, the multi-awarded nine-piece collective invites listeners to start the year on a more intimate yet optimistic note with the release of their new single โ€œDuyanโ€โ€”out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.

Written and composed by frontman Miguel Benjamin and produced by longtime collaborator Ziv alongside Ben&Ben, โ€œDuyanโ€ represents a profound, romantic bond that defies distance, time, and obstacles. The rousing pop-rock ballad encapsulates what true love really means: deep affection, unwavering loyalty, and the choice to remain committed even when faced with challenges and adversities.

According to Miguel, he wrote the song three days before his wedding, while sitting alone in his car. The song contains everything he wanted to tell his then-future wife.

โ€œThere are songs where artists write themselves in the music, and this is one of them,โ€ Miguel explains. โ€œThat day, the idea of fully offering oneself to another person stayed with me. Itโ€™s a love inspired by lifelong commitment, shared journeys, and selflessness. More than anything, I realized that I was ready to make the promise before God. I felt it in the deepest part of my heart.โ€

Musically, the band worked closely with their good friend and constant collaborator Ziv to honor the songโ€™s emotional core, while โ€œmaximizing the soul and expanse of the bandโ€™s instruments to take it to the fullest version it was meant to become.โ€

The song is part of the Mahiwaga Trilogy, Ben&Benโ€™s thematic arc on romantic relationships. The series began with โ€œPagtingin,โ€ a groovy meditation on love at first spark and infatuation, and continued with โ€œAraw-Araw,โ€ a folk-pop ode to choosing your partner every single day. โ€œDuyanโ€ closes the chapter with finality, speaking of lifelong commitment and assurance.

โ€œTwo years after I wrote the song Duyan and kept it as a very personal part of my life, it made sense for it to be put out there,โ€ shares Miguel. โ€œIt also made sense for it to be the conclusion of the trilogy of songs/videos Pagtingin and Araw-Araw.โ€

    Music Video

The song will be accompanied by the release of a music video starring real-life couple and actors Gabbi Garcia and Khalil Ramos, who also appeared in the previous installments of the Mahiwaga Trilogy. For Khalil, returning to the project was a full-circle moment for both Gabbi and him.

โ€œThematically, itโ€™s beautiful to see how the story progressed since Pagtingin,โ€ shares the Filipino actor, singer, and filmmaker. โ€œI vividly remember how we shot those two videos, and the film LSS. Gab and I grew alongside these songs. At every stage of the trilogy, we could deeply relate to it, because it reflected the different phases of our own relationships through the years.โ€

Miguel praised both actors in the music video for their enduring role in the bandโ€™s visual storytelling. โ€œIt was so good to be able to work with our longtime friends Gabbi and Khalil once more in this music video. You could say weโ€™ve both grown so much in life and in our careers ever since the last project we did together. It was great catching up and telling stories of the past and making new memories.โ€

Directed by Lunchbox Studios under the helm of Daniel Aguilar, the wedding-themed music video brings the trilogy to a close through rosy, introspective visuals.

Ben&Ben said viewers can expect to see a wonderful blend of magic and everyday life in the music video: โ€œWeโ€™ve been working with (Lunchbox Studios) for a while now, and for this video, we wanted to do a very intimate but expansive conclusion to the videos weโ€™ve done before. We collaborated on a concept of a portrayal of the stages of commitment done in magical realism.โ€

Ben&Benโ€™s โ€œDuyanโ€ is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment. Watch out for the music video of โ€œDuyanโ€ on Ben&Benโ€™s official YouTube channel.

  • Colde Brings a Quiet Intensity to Manilaโ€™s Blueprint+ Tour

Colde Brings a Quiet Intensity to Manilaโ€™s Blueprint+ Tour

On the evening of January 17, 2026, the Music Museum in San Juan City became a space defined less by spectacle than by atmosphere. South Korean singer-songwriter COLDE, on the Manila stop of his Blueprint+ Tour, offered a performance that was meticulous in its pacing and intimate in its emotional resonance.

Coldeโ€™s music has always straddled genres, R&B, hip hop, and indie pop, without ever feeling derivative. In Manila, that sensibility translated effortlessly. His songs were not designed to dominate the room, but to invite the audience into the nuances of his sound, where quiet melodies and intricate beats carry as much weight as any chorus.

The night opened with DJ Skope, a South Korean producer whose electronic and techno set coaxed the audience from their seats. By the time the lights dimmed, Colde entered quietly, dressed in understated streetwear, opening with โ€œToxic Loveโ€ and โ€œHeartbreak Club.โ€ Early in the set, he performed โ€œWhen Dawn Comes Again,โ€ a collaboration with Baekhyun, marking the songโ€™s first live presentation on the tour. The songโ€™s intricate harmonies and understated production highlighted both artistsโ€™ voices while immediately signaling that this stop would offer exclusive moments for the Manila audience.

Colde addressed the crowd briefly, noting that he had tried to learn some Tagalog for the performance, but found it unnecessary, given his comfort with English. The remark, modest and self-aware, reflected the kind of intimate connection he sought throughout the evening.

Midway through the set, Khakii joined him on stage. Known for his performances on Show Me The Money, Khakii delivered a series of rap sequences, including collaborative tracks โ€œBASSโ€ and โ€œJuicy,โ€ which contrasted sharply with Coldeโ€™s measured melodies. The interplay between the two artists underscored the careful pacing of the concert, balancing intensity and reflection.

Colde returned to the stage later in the set, introducing unreleased material and performing โ€œSunflower,โ€ during which he handed crochet flowers to fans in the front rows. The gesture, small but deliberate, mirrored the intimacy of his compositions and highlighted the concertโ€™s rhythm: emotional investment over spectacle.

The emotional apex came with โ€œStar,โ€ Coldeโ€™s contribution to the See You in My 19th Life soundtrack. As the house lights dimmed and phone flashlights dotted the room, the audience entered a shared, almost meditative space. Familiarity and immediacy combined, creating a moment that felt like both memory and presence.

The encore returned the energy to a kinetic high. DJ Skope resumed his set, Khakii rejoined Colde, and the trio closed with โ€œAll in Motion,โ€ blending hip hop and electronic textures. The room responded physically as well as emotionally, moving with the music until the lights rose and the night concluded.

Across the evening, the Blueprint+ Tour in Manila demonstrated that intimacy and precision need not compromise impact. Coldeโ€™s ability to control pacing, navigate collaborations, and engage the audience created a performance that was both restrained and resonant.

  • RIIZE Had Our Hearts Beating RIIZING with Kilig Memories Weโ€™ll Hold Onto After RIIZING LOUD in Manila

RIIZE Had Our Hearts Beating RIIZING with Kilig Memories Weโ€™ll Hold Onto After RIIZING LOUD in Manila

It took a year and a half, but RIIZE finally made their long-awaited return to the Philippines for RIIZING LOUD in Manila last January 17 (SUN) at the Mall of Asia Arena, and the moment they stepped onstage, it felt like coming home.

Seeing Shotaro, Eunseok, Sungchan, Wonbin, Sohee, and Anton again was emotional in the best way. Since their RIIZING DAY fancon on July 14, 2024, PH BRIIZE had been counting down nonstop, and judging by the screams inside the arena, the wait only made everything hit harder.

The excitement didnโ€™t even start with the main show. During soundcheck, the members surprised everyone by doing the โ€œWag Ipagsabiโ€ TikTok challenge, taking turns and clearly having fun with it. Watching them naturally adopt a local trend, and then seeing them upload the video the next day, made us miss them almost immediately.

    RIIZING to the Occasion

When the show finally began, the arena exploded. RIIZE kicked things off with โ€œEmber to Solar,โ€ then went straight into โ€œSiren,โ€ โ€œOdyssey,โ€ and โ€œCombo.โ€ It was loud, intense, and impossible to look away, an opening that made it clear they were back and better than ever.

Once they paused to talk, the energy shifted into something warmer. Sungchan shared how the crowdโ€™s reaction made it feel real that they were back in Manila, and when RIIZE told BRIIZE how much they missed us, the response was immediate: a full-arena shout of โ€œWe love you, RIIZE!โ€

    A Trip Down Memory Lane

Things softened with โ€œMemories,โ€ as the entire arena sang along like one big choir. It was one of those moments where you could really feel the connection between RIIZE and BRIIZE.

They kept the mood light with their Japanese tracks โ€œBe My Nextโ€ and โ€œLucky,โ€ then leaned into their sweeter side with โ€œMidnight Mirageโ€ and โ€œHug.โ€ By the time โ€œLove 119โ€ played, hearts were definitely gone.

    That โ€œPinoy-Codedโ€ Rizz

Of course, it wouldnโ€™t be a Manila show without some extra fan service. RIIZE is fully committed to the bit, delivering Tagalog pick-up lines that sent the crowd into full kilig mode:

    • Sungchan: โ€œKeyboard ka ba? Kasi type kita.โ€
    • Shotaro: โ€œAlarm clock ka ba? Kasi ginising mo ang natutulog kong puso.โ€
    • Eunseok: โ€œSiomai ka ba? Kasi Iโ€™mma siomai love for you.โ€
    • Wonbin: โ€œUbe ka ba? Kasi I only want U be.โ€
    • Sohee: โ€œMath ka ba? Kasi saโ€™yo ang bagsak ko.โ€
    • Anton: โ€œWater ka ba? Kasi my love for you is tubig (too big).โ€

Every line was met with screams, laughter, and the kind of joy that only happens at concerts like this.

    From Soft to Wild

Riding that happy high, RIIZE moved into โ€œ9 Daysโ€ and โ€œShow Me Love.โ€ They slowed things down with โ€œHonestly,โ€ giving everyone a quiet moment to breathe before launching right back into the fun.

The energy shot up again with โ€œTalk Saxyโ€ and โ€œImpossible,โ€ turning the arena into one big dance floor. Then came the switch. โ€œFameโ€ hit with all its emo, rage-filled intensity, and suddenly everyone was screaming their feelings out.

Just when we thought they were done surprising us, RIIZE pulled out a confident, charismatic cover of EXOโ€™s โ€œMonster.โ€ The crowd lost it. From there, it was nonstop with โ€œBad Luck,โ€ โ€œGet a Guitar,โ€ and โ€œBoom Boom Bass,โ€ before soaring into โ€œFly Up.โ€

    A Promise Weโ€™ll Wait For

Before the encore, it was BRIIZEโ€™s turn to give back. As the lyrics to โ€œInside My Loveโ€ filled the screens, the arena showed off the famous Filipino Throat Chakra, singing at full volume from start to finish.

As always, the end came too fast. RIIZE closed the night with โ€œThe End of the Dayโ€ and โ€œOne Kiss,โ€ waving goodbye with the softest smiles and countless โ€œSalamat po.โ€

It felt less like a goodbye and more like a promise, one that weโ€™ll be waiting for, hopefully at an even bigger venue next time.

  • ALIVE IN CERULEAN SKIES: WENDY Concludes 1st Solo Tour in Manila

ALIVE IN CERULEAN SKIES: WENDY Concludes 1st Solo Tour in Manila

South Korean artist and member of renowned K-pop girl group Red Velvet, WENDY, returned to the Philippines for her first solo tour <W:EALIVE> last January 17, 2026, at the New Frontier Theater, officially concluding her tour with Manila as her last stop.

Blue lights representing her color, and pastel coral from the mandubongs of fans in the crowd, perfectly illuminated the theater with a sea of dreamy lights, looking like little fireflies among the audience. As soon as Wendy went centerstage, fans went wild and got excited to see Wendy again performing for her fans in Manila.

The opening stage was prepared with nothing but a sincere heart as Wendy sang her songs “Fireproof,” “Hateยฒ,” and “Queen of the Party.” Wendy felt the surge of energy from her fans, saying that with their loudest cheers, she couldn’t even hear herself with her in-ear. Wendy continued to show her greatness through her music as she performed more of our favorite songs, such as “Why Can’t You Love Me,” “Best Ever,” “Chapter You,” “His Car Isn’t Yours,” “Better Judgment,” and “Vermillion.”

Wendy couldn’t seem to get enough of Manila as she shared a few memories from her arrival, her favorite Filipino dishes, and her plans for vacation in the country. Among her stories, she recounted her arrival in Manila the night before her concert and how her fans prepared food for her, which she shared with her staff, saying that she had tried Jollibee’s menu and enjoyed it a lot. Apart from that, Wendy mentioned ordering Filipino cuisine adobo from her hotel’s room service as she always made sure to eat it when she visited Manila. A true foodie herself, Wendy said she will try halo-halo and Llaollao the next time she visits for a vacation in the country.

The concert tour VCR highlighted some behind-the-scenes footage of her tour preparations, and also showed how grateful she is to her fans. Wendy mentioned writing her memories in a diary and keeping them vividly remembered through photos, as the feelings from those moments come alive again. “Thank you for always being by my side,” Wendy gave a sincere and utmost gratitude to her fans who have always expressed their support and love for her.

As the show reached its peak, performing with a 4-man band composed of amazing musicians Lee Byeongdo (keyboards), Youn Gapyol (guitar), Jung Boik (bass), and Song Jaeyoung (drums), W:EALIVE truly kept the crowd alive and at the edge of their seats as Wendy continued to show an outstanding stage with “Like Water,” which was the title song of her very first solo album, “When This Rain Stops,” “Believe,” and her OSTs “Goodbye” from KDrama <The Beauty Inside,> “Because I Love You,” which she sang during her time during her SM Rookies days. “I sang it very well back then, but I wanted to show myself and the fans that I’ve grown so much as a singer skillfully and emotionally.”

Moreover, Wendy showed us an unforgettable OST medley still, continuing with “If I Could Read Your Mind” from KDrama <Yumi’s Cells,> saying that this song is quite different from her emotional ballads as this song is an upbeat one with cute and lovely tones to it, “Two Words,” fromK-drama <Start Up,> and “Airport Goodbyes,” which was produced by The Black Skirts.

ReVeluvs were certainly feeling the nostalgia as Wendy sang “Light Me Up,” reeling the fans in as Wendy playfully changed the lyrics for the second chorus from “Oh, boy” to “Oh, girl.” “For my ReVeluvs out there, Light Me Up is a must song.” Wendy definitely lit up the theater as she also promised to return and perform more Red Velvet songs with her members in the future. Wendy finally reached her concert’s end as she performed “Wish You Hell,” “Sunkiss,” “Best Friend,” “The Road,” and “Existential Crisis.”

โ€œThank you, Manila [fans] for coming to my concertsโ€ฆ because of you, I can do all these things as a singer,โ€ Wendy expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her fans who were all eagerly cheering and supporting Wendy since day 1.

Wendy’s fans prepared fanprojects for her return to Manila, which seemed like a homecoming for the queen that they have all been waiting for. From light wristbands, banners, and a surprise video compilation of messages for their beloved Wendy, they surely prepared so much, with these gestures making her Manila stop the best. With the warm hearts of the fans, Wendy returned for an encore, singing her songs “Vermillion,” “Hateยฒ,” and “Wish You Hell.” When fans thought the night was over, Wendy went down the stage and personally met her fans who were seated in the crowd, making sure she sent them off well and thanked them with a heart full of love.

As Wendyโ€™s world tour ended, she prepared a letter saying that โ€œthe most beautiful ending here in Manilaโ€ made her discover what happiness truly feels like and realize her dream, marking this tour as โ€œthe most luminous chapterโ€ of her life as an artist, carrying her fansโ€™ love like a torch that will illuminate her path moving forward.

<W:EALIVE> 2025 Wendy 1st Solo Tour in Manila was made possible by L-SQUARED PRODUCTIONS.

Kangin and His Fans Are โ€˜Stunning Togetherโ€™ at His Manila Fan Meeting

Former Super Junior member Kangin returned to Manila to kick off his fan meeting tour, โ€˜Stunning Together,โ€™ on January 11 at the SM North EDSA Skydome.

Officially returning after 13 years, with his last visit being in October 2013 for Super Juniorโ€™s โ€˜Super Show 5โ€™ concert, Kangin was naturally shy at first. As the show progressed, however, he shared, โ€œI was very excited, but nervous as well. Thanks to your passionate welcome, I think my anxiety levels are going down. I’ll make sure to create the best memories for you guys.โ€

The singer delivered on his promise as the segments went on. His excitement was palpable as he shared the Filipino food he tried and loved, including Jollibee, halo-halo, and crispy pata. After hearing the crowdโ€™s reactions, Kangin even joked, โ€œBy any chance, do you have crispy pata in your bags?โ€ earning laughter from the audience.

The show became even more intimate yet playful as Kangin entertained fans with dance challenges flashed on screen. He drew louder screams when he attempted โ€˜Budots,โ€™ a Filipino dance trend, and happily obliged when fans asked him to do it again.

He also played a game of charades with lucky audience members. When asked what he wanted to say to his fans, Kangin shared, โ€œOne of the biggest goals for my fanmeet was to make you guys smile or laugh. The biggest desire I have through this fanmeet is to create memories with you. So take pictures of me now.โ€ He added humorously as he walked around the stage, striking different poses.

Although shy at first, the energy of his fans fueled him to show his fun and playful side. Throughout the show, Kangin repeatedly mentioned how nervous he had been at the start, but relaxed as he felt the warmth of his audience.

He went on to perform โ€œMientesโ€ and โ€œLove Is Pain,โ€ before coming down from the stage to greet fans with flowers while performing Super Juniorโ€™s โ€œPajama Partyโ€ for his encore.

Fans prepared a surprise video expressing how much he is appreciated, leaving Kangin visibly thankful for their continued support through the years. In one of his closing messages, he said, โ€œIt is really meaningful for me that my first stop is the Philippines. It’s been so long since we’ve been able to meet again. I missed you as much as the time that has passed. I really wanted to meet you guys so much.โ€

Instead of saying goodbye, Kangin left his fans with a heartfelt promise: โ€œJust like how we’re stunning together, I’ll do my best to grow even more.โ€

KANGINโ€™s โ€˜STUNNING TOGETHERโ€™ fan meeting in Manila was brought to fans by CDM Entertainment.

  • THEATRE GROUP ASIA (TGA) ANNOUNCES POWERFUL 2026-27 LINEUP

THEATRE GROUP ASIA (TGA) ANNOUNCES POWERFUL 2026-27 LINEUP

Theatre Group Asia (TGA) proudly announces its 2026-27 season theatrical lineup featuring three globally celebrated works, all of which, is set to be staged in Philippines for the first time.

TGA Creative and Overall Artistic Director Clint Ramos shares, โ€œTGAโ€™s 2026-27 honors three unforgettable, powerful stories that stir, challenge, and transform. This season places the human capacity to influence through love, survival, and creation on center stage. While each production proudly spotlights artists and narratives, the season ultimately celebrates something even greater: the power every person holds to shape hearts, defy limits, and leave a lasting mark.โ€

Opening the season in September 2026 is The Notebook: The Musical, which makes its international premiere in Manila. Featuring music and lyrics by Ingrid Michaelson and a script by Bekah Brunstetter, the musical debuted in 2022 at Chicago Shakespeare Theater under the direction of Michael Greif and Schele Williams. The production is touted for its emotional restraint and lyrical storytelling, offering a more intimate and reflective take on Nicholas Sparksโ€™ iconic novel. While the story is best known through the 2004 film adaptation starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, the stage version expands the narrative by portraying Allie and Noah across multiple stages of their lives, allowing audiences to witness how love matures, fractures, and ultimately endures. As a contemporary romance written with modern musical sensibilities, The Notebook: The Musical holds cultural significance for its tender exploration of memory, aging, and devotion, redefining the epic love story for a new generation.

In February 2027, TGA presents the Philippine premiere of Ang Tahanan ni Bernarda Alba, a Filipino-language staging of Federico Garcรญa Lorcaโ€™s final and most powerful play. Written shortly before Lorcaโ€™s death, the work premiered posthumously in Buenos Aires in 1945 under the direction of Margarita Xirgu and was immediately recognized as a cornerstone of modern drama. The play follows the tyrannical Bernarda Alba, who enforces an eight-year mourning period on her daughters after her husbandโ€™s death, ruling her household through fear, tradition, and repression. Beneath the suffocating silence, desire and rebellion grow until the family is driven toward tragedy. Widely regarded as one of the greatest Spanish-language plays of the twentieth century and adapted countless times for stage and film, Bernarda Alba remains a searing critique of authoritarian control, patriarchy, and social conformity. In its Filipino incarnation in Chay Yewโ€™s adapted version and transposed by Guelan Varela-Luarca, the play resonates with renewed urgency, underscoring the universal human struggle for freedom, dignity, and life itself.

Concluding the season in June 2027 is Stephen Sondheim and James Lapineโ€™s Sunday in the Park with George. The musical premiered on Broadway in 1984 under Lapineโ€™s direction and was initially met with awe for its intellectual ambition and emotional depth, even as it challenged conventional musical theatre audiences. Inspired by Georges Seuratโ€™s painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, the work explores the obsessive drive of an artist consumed by creation and the personal costs that accompany artistic brilliance. A parallel narrative set a century later reflects on legacy, innovation, and the enduring question of what it means to make meaningful art. Awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1985 and now widely regarded as one of the greatest musicals ever written, Sunday in the Park with George stands as a profound meditation on creativity, sacrifice, and the power of art to transcend time.

Together, these three productions form Theatre Group Asiaโ€™s boldest season yet. TGAโ€™s Season 2026-27 is made possible with the support of Ayala Land, BPI, and Philippine Airlines.
