An Offshore Christmas features tracks from Ena Mori, Mt. Lewis, Elton Clark, Sansette, and more!
Offshore Music, a Manila-based record label known for its focus on creative integrity, captures the spirit of the holiday season with a new compilation album, An Offshore Christmas, featuring its stellar roster of local music acts.
Aptly titled An Offshore Christmas, the 9-track record earworms its way into the collective consciousness with diverse stories spanning generations and experiences, interpreting what Christmas meant from varied lenses: a joyful hymn that brims with life and humanity, a vodka-induced downer that revels in the sentiments of missing home, a quirky jam that envelopes listeners with comforting warmth, and simply, a frustrated sad song that barely keeps up with the seasonโs booming, optimistic energy.
As Offshore Music CEO Ely Buendia puts it, โThe album is a kaleidoscope of emotions, from melancholy to euphoria, as well as a feast for anyone who enjoys all kinds of music.โ
Offshore Music General Manager Audry Dionisio takes pride in the recordโs insistence not to be boxed in the usual category of how a holiday-inspired album should be. She points out, โWe also made sure that people from different walks of life would not feel left out. Every song in the album can be played way past the Christmas season, thatโs for sure.โ
The Christmas-themed album features recently released tracks from its esteemed lineup of artists, including Pinkmen, Suspiria Pink, Elton Clark, Sansette, Eliza Marie, JR Oca Experience, Sulo, as well as additional new songs from ena mori and Mt. Lewis.
โWith the new roster of artists on board, it also created a fresh and inspired energy within us to collaborate more with them and for them to showcase their abilities to the public more,โ Offshore Music A&R Director Pat Sarabia shares.
Mt. Lewisโ โTrip To Jerusalem,โ the albumโs focus track, provides a contemporary spin on The Eraserheadsโ cult holiday classic while retaining the originalโs intrinsic charm and fuzz. When asked about how he feels about the rendition, Ely Buendia expressed his approval of the bandโs tenacity to breathe new life to an underrated, deep cut. โWe thought it was fitting to honor their brave achievement by having one of our artists cover a song from Fruitcake for our own Christmas release.โ
Another album highlight is ena moriโs โChristmas Song (Version II),โ a bittersweet little tune about choosing to celebrate Christmas alone with cats rather than joining a party filled with family members and friends who do nothing but send a minefield of emotional triggers. Over snappy, acoustic guitars and minimal percussions, the alt-pop star delivers an anthem that is bold and uncompromising in its message but remains hopeful amidst the intention to hide the hurting.
Offshore A&R Manager Otep Tumambing emphasizes that the holiday record is more than just a reinforcement of postcard-perfect tradition but also a time to nurse the wounds of isolation and griefโall valid feelings that deserve to be celebrated on the same level as their merrier counterparts.
โChristmas is one of the most celebrated holidays globally, symbolizing joy, togetherness, and generosity. An Offshore Christmas aims to provide our artists and their audience with a platform to express their views on Christmas, even if it’s about sadness and loneliness. Not everyone experiences the usual โhappyโ Christmas, and they deserve to be celebrated as well.โ
โAn Offshore Christmasโ is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Offshore Music and Sony Music Entertainment.

ABOUT THE ROSE: The Korean Alt Pop band is composed of four members: vocalist and guitarist Woosung, vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Dojoon, bassist Jaehyeong, and drummer Hajoon. Renowned since their inception for electrifying performances, The Rose quickly became one of Korea’s most sought-after groups delivering a series of critically acclaimed albums that resonated with fans worldwide. In 2019, three of the band members temporarily went on hiatus to fulfill their mandatory military service obligations, during which Woosung pursued a successful solo career, releasing captivating albums and embarking on sold-out world tours. In a moment of sheer joy for their devoted fans, The Rose reunited during one of Woosung’s performances in South Korea in 2022. This reunion paved the way for their first full-length album HEAL, which was inspired by the transformative power of music and the stories shared by both their fans and themselves. HEAL soared to #4 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart, while their accompanying HEAL Together World Tour drew an overwhelming crowd of over 90,000 attendees. Now, with their sophomore full-length album DUAL which made the Mediabase 200 chart in its first week of sales, The Rose takes their music to new heights with Rolling Stone UK calling it โan album that takes you on a layered, emotional journey, full of elation, heartache and twists and turns – just like life itself.โ Building upon the emotional honesty and vulnerability showcased in HEAL, this latest offering explores the profound concept of ‘balance.’ Seamlessly merging light and dark elements, The Rose masterfully weaves emotions and sounds, capturing the dualistic essence that defines their music.
Japanese singer yama performs their first solo concert in the Philippines at The Podium Hall in Mandaluyong City on the 1st of December. Their tour aptly titled thanks for waiting is a treat for the fans who longed for the artist to come to Manila.
yamaโs identity is generally shrouded in mystery. The singer is known for their trademark bright royal blue bob, matched with a white masquerade mask and a white hooded jacket, but their real name, age, and gender are intentionally left unidentified. (This is a subculture within the Japanese music industry wherein certain musical artists hide their identities completely.)
The concert started on a high note with the playful melody of โHaru wo Tsugeruโ, the famed debut song. yamaโs astonishing vocal prowess shone throughout the evening, and fans were cheering from the get-go. If you had listened to any of their songs beforehand, youโd be surprised by how the live performance sounded almost the same as the recorded versions. yamaโs masterful control of their vocals coupled with their powerful delivery of the lyrics made the show extra memorable.
Backed by keyboardist Akinori Handa and drummer Akinori Yamamoto, yamaโs concert was a spark full of colors. They performed with a vibrant setlist including well-recognized songs from animes like โColorโ from Spy X Family, โOz.โ from Ranking of Kings, and โslashโ from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. The funky โDowntownโ and โa.m.3:21โ got the crowd singing and clapping along. Delving into a more mellow side, yama also performed with the R&B-infused โCreamโ, the ballads โpure colorsโ and โhikari no yoruโ.
During the entire show, photography and videography of any kind were not allowed. Thanks to this, the audience was focused on the artist and the music. Fans were dancing and cheering along (some with lightsticks as well) as each track played. The stage was rather set plainly, but the lighting was top-notch, with every flicker capturing the aura of every song.
Without the aid of a translator, yama spoke to the crowd in Japanese. Interestingly, the fans understood every word. The singer said the Philippines is one of the top listeners of their music on Spotify, and that is one of the reasons they chose to include Manila in the tour stop. Although yama seemed to be aloof at first, they expressed gratitude to the crowd and as the show progressed, they got more and more relaxed onstage.
Towards the end, the anthemic โkubittakeโ (which translates to โmadly in loveโ), a crowd favorite, got people jumping and singing along. This was followed by the captivating acoustic rendition of โMasshiroโ and the hopeful โThe world is supposed to be beautifulโ.
After the show, yama took a photo with some of the lucky fans outside the venue and posted it on Twitter.

Before this project came to life and earlier this year, the label kicked off โWe Play Hereโ, which is a series of live performances and events to bring fans as well as local and international artists even closer together. Its success was evident because the kick-off โWe Play Hereโ event held at Samsung Hall at SM Aura last April 27 headlined by Felip, Dilaw, Lola Amour, Leanne & Naara and more was joined and well-loved by lots of OPM fans.
Now in their 30th year, Warner Music PHโs dedication to supporting local talent has been stronger than ever. The renowned record label has curated an extraordinary musical experience by reviving some of the strongest hits on their catalog and making it a monumental compilation album, aptly titled โWarner 30thโ
To celebrate the release of these reimagined popular songs from the past decades, an upcoming milestone event is happening this December to guarantee to bring a one-of-a-kind, high-energy live music experience thatโs truly unforgettable for everyone.
The โWarner 30thโ Compilation launch is to take place on December 8, 2023 at Balcony Music House in Makati. Audiences can look forward to electrifying performances by the label’s commendable artist roster: Lola Amour, Dilaw, Jason Dhakal, Rangel, and Jireh Lim.
Below is the list of the most sought-after artists signed under Warner Music Philippines who joined the powerful compilation album:
Arthur Miguel, has been part of the Top 10 Spotify daily charts this year with his smash hit โLIhimโ. His soothing vocals earned a surge of streams and numerous Spotify playlists such as Hot Hits Philippines, Tatak Pinoy, Viral Hits Philippines, and many more. For this compilation album, he made a rendition of โYour Universeโ by Rico Blanco.
A rising singer-songwriter, Noah Alejandreโs music speaks of the struggles and experiences of youngsters. His music is heartfelt, honest, and raw, evident in his singles โNahuhulog Na Saโyoโ, โEntabladoโ, and โDi Man Tinadhanaโ. For the record labelโs anniversary, he mesmerized everyone with his own version of Rico Blancoโs โAntukinโ
Also, part of this big event are Cliff and Reanne Borella for their own refreshing rendition of Ninaโs hit song โJealousโ. Cliff is the most streamed artist in Eastern Visayas and a highly sought-after artist from Ormoc City, Leyte. He peaked at 950,000+ Monthly Listeners on Spotify for โSunsets With Youโ which placed in several Spotify editorials and became hit trend in Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia and with over 31 million streams to date. Reanne, also a singer-songwriter from Leyte, gained recognition after winning Philpop 2020 with their bilingual single โSuyoโ as one half of the indie pop duo, reon. Now sheโs pursuing her career as a solo artist under Warner Music Philippines.
A true artist and performer since childhood, Rangel joined local talent competitions, learned to play the guitar and uploaded her first original song to Soundcloud in 2016. Her popularity rose further after being part of noontime show Eat Bulaga. She was part of Music Hero, a now disbanded pop-rock group that popularized a song she wrote — โKLWKNโ. Since going solo and joining Warner Music Philippines, she has released โHanggang Saanโ, โDIKAโ, โBabalikโ, plus her own version of Kitchie Nadalโs hit, โSame Groundโ.
Born into a family closely tied to music, jikamarie first made headlines for her track โlutangโ which reached #22 on the Spotify Daily Chart. More releases followed with โKailangan ko ngโฆโ โKISLAPโ, โthe sun is youโ, โHALIMAWโ, and even collaborated with JRLDM and Jireh Lim. She brings good vibes with her own take on โBulongโ by Kitchie Nadal. To date, she is gearing up for her first debut album.
The talented contemporary queer R&B singer-songwriter Jason Dhakal is also part of the mix. His spectacular and refreshing revival of Sittiโs โPara Sa Akinโ has taken the track to the top 50 on Spotifyโs Daily Chart. Jason marked his breakthrough with his critically-acclaimed debut EP โNight Inโ in 2018 which saw collaboration tracks with Jess Connelly and dot.jaime. In 2020 he released โlovesoundโ co-produced by celebrated local composer LUSTBASS. Jason also did a collaboration with Arthur Nery on โHappy w uโ and was part of various local festivals Fรชte de la Musique, All Of The Noise, and Double Happiness by 88rising.
JRLDM who dropped notable singles โPatiwakalโ, followed by โPARASITIKOโ just teamed up with Party Pace, ASTRO, and Slimm in his refreshing R&B-Hip-hop version of โLaklakโ popularized by rock band Teeth. His artist name is a stylized iteration of โJerald-Damnโ.
P-Pop Group 1st.One is also part of the celebration, crafting a poppy and danceable version of the hit song โYour Loveโ by Alamid.
โChinelasโ, one of Kamikazeeโs earlier hits, was also given a total makeover from one of the most sought-after bands this year, Baguioโs pride Dilaw. The band teamed up with AsianCutie to create the track. The band went viral this year for their breakout song, โUhaw (Tayong Lahat) with now over 124 million Spotify streams and millions of engagements on TikTok. The track won Best Alternative Recording, Best Performance by a Group Recording Artist, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year at the 36th Awit Awards in November 2023.
Born and raised in Davao, Paul Pablo rose to popularity with songs like โBanginโ, โKalawakanโ and โKayaโ. He did a remarkable spin on Rico Blancoโs 2008 comeback single โYugto.โ His fresh take on OPM and the impressive LGBTQ representation is proves to be changing the game in the Philippines Music Industry.
FELIP surprised everyone with an acoustic guitar-driven version of โMoving Closerโ which was originally performed by Never The Strangers off their 2012 self-titled album. The P-Pop soloist dropped his debut EP COMโขPLEX this year and it was loaded with hip-hop, R&B, and trap music. His single โROCKSTAโ now has almost 3 million streams on Spotify.
Up-and-coming artist Nicole Anjela collaborated with Josh Dutch and did a soothing version of โSo Blueโ originally performed by Sinosikat?
Rising six-piece folk-pop band Sugarcane is also part of the compilation record, doing a captivating revival of โSet You Free,โ one of the most popular songs from Side A. The band, who has over 2.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify has eight original songs in the millions of streams on the said platform. Their most popular song โLeonoraโ now has over 40.6 million streams. Lastly, โRaining in Manilaโ hitmaker Lola Amour is part of the mix. The band, now with over 4.7 million Spotify monthly listeners is 2023โs breakthrough artist. For the record labelโs 30th year anniversary, they did a refreshing take on Kitchie Nadalโs โHuwag Na Huwag Mong Sasabihinโ which exploded during the early 2000s.

Ahead of the eagerly awaited debut ofย Yu Yu Hakushoย next week, the trailer is giving fans a taste of the groundbreaking visual effects that bring to life the intense battles between humans and demons, setting a new standard for live-action adaptations.
The five-episode series captures the essence of the original best-selling manga by incorporating supernatural elements in a way that appears realistic. This was made possible through the collaboration with Scanline VFX, known for their work on major Hollywood productions.
โTo what extent CGI-characters can be shown close-up depends on the distance from the camera, whether thereโs dialogue, and the facial expression,โ said visual effects director Tomofumi Akahane. โWith Scanline VFX on board, we were able to reach higher than any other Japanese title and achieve a quality where the average viewer wonโt be able to tell that CGI is actually CGI.โ
The team made use of the latest performance capture technology, with 170 cameras filming the actors simultaneously in 360 degrees. This allows director Sho Tsukikawa to choose the best angle afterward as if moving a single camera, resulting in realistic CG character assets that seamlessly interact with the live-action elements.
Recreating battles between humans and demons
As the setting of Yu Yu Hakusho includes the Human World, the Demon World and the Spirit World, the team had to create many of the demons from scratch. And the battles between humans and demons were among the most difficult to recreate visually from the manga, especially the scenes with the Toguro Brothersโthe Elder Toguro can distort his body and the Younger Toguro can expand his muscles.
โThe body size of the actors and the characters are different, so it was really hard to change the scale. It wasnโt just a matter of changing their height, we needed to ensure that the sight lines of the opponents were accurate,โ said visual effects advisor Ryo Sakaguchi, who was the first Japanese visual producer to win a Scientific and Technical Award at the Oscars. The team ended up creating and printing 3D models of the Toguro Brothers, and attaching them to the actors for the shoot, so that it was easier and more natural for those acting opposite them.
Moreover, as many of the actors were not used to working with CGI during shoots, the production team came up with various ideas to help the actors perform, including having a stunt person wear blue clothes and fight opposite the actor.
โHow do actors imagine an enemy that isnโt actually in front of them?โ asked action director Takahito Ouchi. โNo matter how much you tell them that an enemy is there, they need to get fired up enough to make it seem like they are really fighting. And that realism is born from the passion of the actors.โ
The fate of the Human World lies in Yusukeโs hands. Watch โYu Yu Hakushoโ on December 14, exclusively on Netflix.

The initiative is part of a campaign to engage the country in a fight to alleviate food insecurity and malnutrition.
Sony Music Entertainment Philippines (SMEP) continues to give back to disadvantaged communities through food aid and relief.
This comes as part of Sony Music Groupโs global โSeason of Givingโ campaign, where the company and its artists are paying it forward to the countries in which the international music label operates. Across the world, SMG is supporting global organizations dedicated to providing aid for those facing food insecurity, homelessness and refugee support, as well as music industry relief and educational programs for communities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year, the international music label has partnered with Reach Out and Feed Philippines for a feeding program that provides assistance and relief to households in highly urbanized areas such as Barangay Damayang Lagi in Quezon City. Sony Music has been partners with them since last year, where they provided food aid, along with pop-rock band, NOBITA, to local communities impacted by the pandemic.
As reported by Reach Out and Feed Philippines, the community-wide initiative has supported more than 100,000 individuals to date.
Reach Out and Feed Philippines extended their deepest gratitude to Sony Music for providing valuable support to the feeding outreach. โTheir support is not just a contribution; it’s a lifeline to those in need. Together, we’re making a tangible difference, one meal at a time,โ Dawn Cabigon, Founder and Chairperson of Reach Out and Feed Philippines said.
The team, which was headed by Sony Music, distributed healthy meals to indigent families. Shoti, one of the labelโs recording stars, volunteered and serenaded the beneficiaries with his music, which includes a performance of the viral smash โLDR,โ the new single โwaiting 4 u (delulu),โ and a rendition of the holiday classic โJingle Bell Rock.โ
“Iโve received a lot of blessings this year,โ said the teen pop singer-songwriter. โAnd the least thing that I can do is to pay it forward in my own little way. Iโm grateful to my Sony Music family and Brgy. Damayang Lagi for the opportunity to bring joy and inspiration to these families. Iโm honored to have used my platform in enacting impactful changes within the community, and I hope to be of service to more people in the future.โ
Shoti also encouraged the children and parents to join him on the LDR TikTok dance trend, which drew cheers and laughter among the participants.
Heโs one of the artists that supports Sony Music Entertainmentโs countless philanthropic activities every year, with the utmost goal of creating valuable and positive social impact for a better future.
Roslyn Pineda, General Manager, Philippines, Sony Music Entertainment, expressed her gratitude to Shoti for his time and generosity to the cause. โI am incredibly proud of our young artist Shoti, who, at just 16 years old, displayed immense dedication and commitment by flying all the way from Cebu to Manila to participate in the feeding program organized by Reach Out and Feed Philippines. Shoti’s willingness to go the extra mile to make a difference is truly inspiring.โ
Season of Giving, a global initiative of Sony Music Group, runs throughout the holiday season in collaboration with charity partners across Africa, Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Canada, Continental Europe, Latin America, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Facilitating volunteer events in each region where they have an office presence, Sony Music Group through Sony Music Entertainment Philippines, showed an unwavering commitment to help secure the resources needed to serve the most vulnerable individuals and families in different parts of the world.
Pineda adds, โSony Music Philippines is committed to continuing our Season of Giving initiatives and partnering with organizations like Reach Out and Feed Philippines to create a lasting change. Together with our artists, we will continue to use our platform to uplift and empower communities.โ
This campaign also represents the companyโs ongoing commitment to forge humanitarian partnerships and support communities that need it most, inside and outside the music industry.

Just recently, Felip released a cover of โMoving Closerโ for Warner Music Philippinesโ 30th Anniversary celebration. He also represented the Philippines at the Music Matters in Singapore a few months ago. The edgy crossover act is also rumored to perform a special number that will rock The Theatre at Solaire.
During the press conference held last November 20, 2023, AEGIS was asked about the current generation of artists that they admire and look forward to collaborating with. Without hesitation, the power ballad band mentioned SB19 as the artist whose journey they relate to the most. They even gamely danced to the P-Pop groupโs hit single โGentoโ in one of their TikTok posts.
โFelip was a unanimous pick because he is from Cagayan De Oro (CDO), and his music resonates with AEGIS on a personal level,โ one of the producers explained. โSome of the members are from CDO as well. We are in awe with how he integrates Bisaya in his lyrics and exudes confidence in his performance.โ
Tickets to AEGIS: The Christmas Bonus Concert are available at Ticketworld outlets nationwide and on their official website. SSVIP ticketholders are entitled to a Meet and Greet (M&G) session after the concert.
AEGIS: The Christmas Bonus Concert is presented by True Creators Studio, Upplause Events, and Solaire Resort Entertainment City; and co-presented by Katinko, in partnership with GNN Pop.
